Global warming and the Republicans

Today the NY Times reports that the issue of global warming is dividing the Republican presidential candidates.
True enough.
While it touches on some of their history on the issue, there are a few bits of information that were left out of the article:
- At his first major fundraiser, Rudy Giuliani's emcee, Dennis Miller, mocked global warming, saying, "Excuse me for not believing temperatures from 1906, when we were still s-ing in the woods."
- Mitt Romney criticized Republicans for "embracing the radical environmental ideas of the liberal left."
- Fred Thompson mimics Bush on global warming. He "defended Bush's stance on the Kyoto Protocol," which he refused to sign, and in a 2000 appearance on CNN noted that Bush's statement on climate change "sounds like exactly what I just said."

Mr. Giuliani has drawn support from Texans who were notable donors to President Bush, including a former Enron president, Richard D. Kinder, and business executives who direct many of the nation’s oil, gas and energy producers.
And a good part of this success, analysts say, stems from his affiliation with a well-established and politically connected law firm that is based in Houston and bears his name, Bracewell & Giuliani.
That affiliation adds to Mr. Giuliani’s personal wealth but also could pose political risks for him. The firm is perhaps the nation’s most aggressive lobbyist for coal-fired power plants, heavy emitters of air pollutants and carbon dioxide, a gas associated with global warming. Environmentalists say the firm played a significant role in persuading the Bush administration to roll back major provisions of the Clean Air Act.

All the Republicans are hopeless on global warming and if any of them are elected our survival is in danger. That is why I trashed my lifelong membership in the Republican Party and registered as a Democrat as soon as I saw Al Gore's fantastic "An Inconvenient Truth."
Unfortunately, most of our Democratic candidates are so generalized in their plans that they are ineffective.
For example Hillary wants to budget $50 billion for undefined alternative energy.
Only one candidate has a specific plan with specific actual steps to achieve total energy independence within five years, and our Party excludes him from the televised debates.
For info on how to truly achieve energy independence while at the same time fighting global warming visit www.franklynch.org and click on all electric plug in cars.
