Gov Dean,

AS DNC Chairman - I urge you to use your power to allow Sen. Gravel to debate tonight.

Thanks.

Speaking of Senator Mike Gravel here is a copy of an email he sent out today:

Senator Gravel
To Broadcast Alternate Debate

Gravel Supporters Nationwide,

If you live within driving distance of Philadelphia, you can help former Senator and current Democratic Presidential Candidate Mike Gravel protest MSNBC's arbitrary decision to exclude him from the Democratic debate it will be hosting tonight at Drexel University.

After originally making arrangements to include all the Democratic candidates, MSNBC (owned by General Electric) reversed itself and created questionable criteria apparently devised to exclude the most outspoken critic of the military-industrial complex. Despite having met all but the most arbitrary fundraising requirements, Senator Gravel has been shut out of the debate.

In lieu of this, Senator Gravel will be speaking at the World Café Live (3025 Walnut St. in Philadelphia) at an alternate Democratic Debate. Participants will have the opportunity to watch the debate with the Senator and listen to his views as the evening unfolds. Afterward, the Senator will take questions from the audience until midnight.

The entire event will be broadcast at http://www.gravel2008.us live from the World Café starting at 8:30pm ET.

We can't stop corporate censorship by MSNBC, but we have the power to let the American people learn about the candidates -- even the ones General Electric wants to silence.

Earlier in the day, the Philadelphia Regional Antiwar Network is sponsoring a peace rally a few short blocks away at 34th and Chestnut. Senator Gravel signs will be available there (or bring your own!!) and many of the rally participants will be joining us inside.

See map here:
http://maps.live.com

If you need more information on the event, please contact our office via email at phillydebates@gravel2008.us

Finally, since the powers that be now require that Senator Gravel raise $1 million in order to participate in the debates, please make a donation to the campaign by clicking on this link or by calling 703-652-4698. With your help we can stop corporate censorship and ensure that the American people are allowed to hear Senator Gravel. https://gravel2008.us/donate.php

Thank you for your support,

Team Gravel

It is a sad reflection in my opinion on the DNC that any Democratic candidates are even participating in a debate that does not include every major national Democratic candidate who has expressed a desire to participate. Senator Gravel should have been extended an invitation to participate because he is a Democratic leader of national political importance who deserves to have his views heard by the public. Even if some Democrats do not agree with his specific positions, he should be supported by the DNC in his effort to be heard because our system of government requires a full and fair expression of every point of view in order for voters to make informed decisions, and the Democratic Party purports to support free speech and the peaceful expression of public viewpoints.
Voters might not vote for the nominee of any political party that does not actively support the expression of different points of view by its candidates in public debates during the primary season.

This is the best competition between Democratic Candidates ever, but I want to hear even more.

I want to hear how Democratic Candidates are going to take on the Middle Eastern politics on violence in other ways than just applying military pressure. How can America encourage better representation in the Middle East for the people of Islam to recognize that Islam is a religion of peace? How can America apply intense diplomatic pressure to Middle Eastern government leaders about making sure the Middle Eastern public knows that, including Iraq's leaders?

HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: Choosing America’s National Interest over Politics

I think Senator Clinton voted to call the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization foreseeing that if she had to deal with Iran later, during her administration, she could not then, in the country’s interest, call them ‘not’ a terrorist organization now but call them a terrorist organization later. Hillary Clinton is already, unlike the Bush Administration, being careful with America’s national interests and while others may say her decision also had to do with hawk politics, yes it did, but that was probably her second thought. The war against terrorism was her first thought and that, in my opinion, is what is important.

Now if Senator Clinton gets the National Democratic Committee’s Nomination, I think she should make John Edwards Attorney General, Senator Joe Biden, Secretary of State, Senator Dodd, Chairman on the Senate Finance Committee and Senator Richardson, Chairman of the National Immigration Service. Need I explain why, people, or has these candidates famous agenda's spoke for them selves?

Don’t just reach for something better than Bush, reach for something better than better and Vote Democratic in Election 2008.

Thank you.

I heartily agree with Elizabeth that we are not just looking for better than Bush. We can do stratospherically better! As an Iowa voter I am tired of being told who has already won our caucus. I foam at the mouth each evening at the coverage and lack of respect and civility that talking mouths like Chris, "Mr. Spittel", Matthews and Little Lord Fauntleroy Tucker Carlson, spew. Comments like "would the last person out of Des Moines please turn out the lights" and their own obvious feelings of phallic insecurity directed at Senator Clinton aren't charming, urbane or witty. I'm not worried about the Senator, she's quite capable, as are all of the Democratic hopefuls. We, as Democrats, need to rise above the fray. but make no mistake we are going to be wimps this year. No more turning the other cheek. This IS the war!

Good interview. CM was fair to Gov. Dean. I was wrong. CM made a stretch to blame the Dems for Iraq by saying "if you give someone the car keys, and they go rob a bank, are they responsible?" Now if CM is using that analogy, my fraudulent bank loan analogy would have worked perfect. I've explained it here ten times: you don't blame the bank if a party presents bogus information to get a loan.

I suppose Gov. Dean doesn't read my posts. Too bad. He could've shut CM down, and made a good point to viewers. CM tried to use a bogus arguement popularized by the MSM, and exploited by a few politicians. Gov Dean should be on talk shows more often because he speaks truth and common sence.

I'm with Elizabeth and Sophie. The Iran resolution was a bait so Republicans could say she doesn't stand up to the IRG. When given evidence that the IRG is arming insurgents in Iraq, she had to make a stand against the IRG. This is war.
