McCain Confused About Christianity and Constitution

At Right's Field, Matt Ortega caught this recent interview with John McCain. Not only would McCain prefer a Christian president, but he favors a religious litmus test for the presidency--something expressly prohibited by the Constitution:
"I just have to say in all candor that since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles...personally, I prefer someone who I know who has a solid grounding in my faith...I think the number one issue people should make [in the] selection of the President of the United States is, 'Will this person carry on in the Judeo Christian principled tradition that has made this nation the greatest experiment in the history of mankind?'"
Here's Article IV from the Constitution:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States. he probably figures the current president has thrown out much of the bill of rights and other amendments, so why not get rid of these parts as well?? already threw out the whole geneva convention and habeous corpus
Wow, that's a scary quote. I remember back when I used to like John McCain... it seems so long ago, like a dream. :(
Gee, he needs to be impeached even before he's won the nomination much less the election.
The man is either obscenely ignorant of American history and law (especially for a senator) or he's desperately grabbing for the nutcase-right vote. Now those people have more than amply demonstrated themselves to be woefully and inexcusably ignorant of American history and law -- and their leaders prove it daily.
Enough of this benightedness, ignorance and revisionist history. The desecrations of the republic party are exactly the reason this nation is ranking with other third world nations in education, medicine, and every other meaningful measurable.
I saw on CNN tonight, that the Muslims and Jews at least are pissed at this ignorant statement.
So Jews and Muslims and buddhists, etc need not apply?
McCain is showing his senility I am afraid.
This country was founded on Christian principals and the futher we get away from them. The worse off this country will be. GOD bless America
