Leahy Moves Forward

Posted by Michael Link on November 29, 2007 at 02:39 PM

ThinkProgress reports:

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) today said that several current and former White House officials, including Karl Rove and Josh Bolten, “must comply with committee subpoenas to testify” about the U.S. attorney scandal. He declared that President Bush had no role in the firings, therefore their excuses of “executive privilege” were “not legally valid.” This ruling “clears the way for Leahy’s panel to vote on whether to advance the citations to the full Senate.”

Yes, but has he said how he intends to enforce the demands that individuals testify. Is impeachment still 'off the table?'

mary,

Maybe Leahy could commandeer the services of Rudy's private police force which escorted him to his adulterous trysts in the Hamptons while he was still mayor and married? I hear they work off the books or book off the record...whatever way you want to call it.

This could be interesting?I would love to see the Democrats really do something. However,I`ve built up my hopes that the party would grow a pair and follow through just to be disappointed. The timing is great. I hope they do.I`m not holding my breath.

Why is the media so silent?
This is big news.
They can't ignore Congress.
I hope it goes to the full Senate.

Don't give bush anything except for the plunger. I am proud of Senator Leahy. It is about time the white house gets the message the amercian people are fed up with that bunch of lying and stealing thugs. The republican party can only vote for more war money. I say let it all stop if that is what it takes shut down the Iraq conflict. Is it not a war cause our soilders don't deserve the pay? Leahy need to get with a sewage cleaning company to help with that mess. That white house need a good plunging out.

Karl Rove was on C-Span Arguing for the Bush Administration and blasting the Democrats for approving the War in the beginning and now trying to get the President to give up. Yet he claimed a great improvement had occured since the serge.

I didn't catch our man's name but he helt up pretty good.

Now we see why Karl Rove resigned so he could leade the Election group to win for the Neo-Cons.

I heard Wesley Clark say you can agree with the neo-cons or you can be silent but if you oppose them, they will try to destroy you. This preception was on the tip of my tongue and when he said it, I thought, that's it, that is what I have been observing.
