Michael:
What's going on?
What's with the Democrats?
Everyone speaks as if a 2008 Democrat election win is in the bag. It is NOT!
For example: Who is in charge of eliminating every electronic voting machine? Is there a committee? A bill? A suggestion?
I see Republicans are busy changing the rules in California so they can win the state on electoral votes. Haven't they already accomplished this in other states?
We all speak as if we are dealing with normal opponents and life goes on. We may speak of a deep dark threat to our country, a conspiracy, WWIII, then we procede to the idea of a 2008 election, as if by the vote, America will return to its happy secure days.
"Just wait until Election Day", is a phrase I hear over and over on CNN. The people will remember who did and didn't do what and will vote the bad guys out of office.
Haven't we seen enough results of previous elections to have learned this is not the case?
When we finally counted the votes in FL, we learned that Al Gore won. In 2004, exit polls during the election had Carey supporters dancing in the aisles. Surprise ... results were very different. Despite questions and accusations of voting wrongdoing, Democrats rolled over again, just as they did in 2000! Exit polls have never been wrong before. Do you think something is not right?
We have one shot and ONLY one shot now. I wouldn't count on a 2008 win. Previous results show me otherwise, and Rudy is a good candidate for Republicans. The entire World saw Rudy acting very Presidential. His words of reassurance on 9/11 were welcomed by a shattered America. Finally, Americans have seen the candidate and not the accusations. Americans saw "Rudy the President", while the real President was hiding in a hole. It seems most Americans will indeed overlook 3 wives, gangster friends, and other nastinesses if the owner of these characteristics projects strength and reassurance and has come through for America when he was needed most.
Republicans need only rerun newstapes of Rudy in action during the worst time of American history. Democrats cannot attack this man's personal life which should be of no consequence anyway. Americans believe they have seen the real Rudy under the worst circumstances and he rose to the occasion. No candidate could ask for more.
Are the Democrats so "decent" that they prefer to go down every time because they refuse to acknowledge the "dirty" play of the opposition?
Decency above life and liberty is not what is promised the American citizens. We are supposed to be guided and protected by our elected officials. Right now they are about the last people I would turn to for any guidence or protection.
Democrats are unable to protect themselves. Many of us are as guilty as those we elected into office. After years of learning otherwise, we continue to bank on election day as the day of our salvation. That's how its supposed to be. That's how its written. That's the idea we take to other countries to encourage them to adopt "Democracy". So, as politicians continue to ignore the will of the people as they follow their own self interest agenda, we get angry, yell, scream, curse, and threaten ... "Just wait until election day"!
Guess what guys? Without some sort of intervention, it is more likely than not that history will repeat itself. This time we won't be able to say "Wait until election Day".
After what we have seen, can we be sure there will even be an Election Day? If Republicans don't like the results, Bush can declare himself "Supreme President-In-Charge" and negate the election results after he attacks Iran.
This president has the power to do this. Our Democrats voted to give him this power when they accepted the bill calling the Iranian army terrorists!
If ever impeachment is a tool to be used, this is the time to use it. For whatever reason, Democrats remain paralyzed when it comes to doing the right thing, the only way to stop our runaway government is to successfully impeach the offenders.
Think of the additional lives that will be lost when Iran is invaded. What about more losses as the Iraq war continues? And Afghanistan? What has happened to our officials? Has Bush convinced each and every Democrat that the fears against terrorism are justified? Is this why the Presidential candidates compete over who has the toughest stance on continuing the war in Iraq? Or, who will attack Iran?
The only basis for new fears about terrorists is that Democrats have seen and felt the anger expressed by Iraqis, Iranis, Pakistanis, and everyone else. Have they thought far enough to realize these people are now mad at us because we are bombing their homes, killing their families, claiming to be "helping" them rebuild as we further destroy their homelands?
Just a small thought before I leave ...
How much fear of terrorists does our President really have when, since 9/11, our borders remain wide open? Who among us would not see to it that all borders were closed snugly and protected the day after 9/11? Who among us would have refused to put into effect the changes recommended by the 9/11 committee? Who among us would have fought the formation of the 9/11 Commission?
Speaking of 9/11, was it 21 of 23 terrorists that were from Saudi Arabia? Have we invaded Saudi Arabia?
Something stinks.
Don't assume 2008 will change a thing. Until Democrats change their outlook and behavior, I'm afraid we are in for a worse ride than we can imagine.
My unbiased opinion? As things stand now, Rudy will beat Hillary. He may even do this on his own, without the help of electronic voting machines.
What do we say then?
Democrats have less than a year to plan and carry out an effective strategy. So far I see the same old thing. Only the names have changed. If anything has changed it is the public realization of the ineffectiveness of Democrats. They are behaving outwardly as if they are cowards. It looks like this to everyone. There has been a rush of Democrat voters to re-register as "Independents" so not to be associated with this cowardly behavior.
I cannot believe intellegent persons who have been politicians for years can actually be as cowardly and afraid as this bunch appears to be.
Whatever it is that is going on, I don't expect changes by the 2008 election. As I've said before, something stinks. I wish we could see what is going on and get some answers. None appear to be forthcoming, except for the continued failure of the Democratic Party.
