Kicking Ass: The Democratic Party's Blog

Which One Is it Gov?

Mitt's twists and turns on abortion leave the voters wondering where he really stands:

Romney, in a direct mail piece he's distributed to South Carolina Republicans, brags he's the: "The only major presidential candidate who supports the Republican Party's pro-life platform: A constitutional amendment banning abortion nationwide."

Last night, Romney said:

"We should overturn Roe v. Wade and return these issues to the states. I would welcome a circumstance where there was such a consensus in this country that said we don't want to have abortion in this country at all period? That would be wonderful. I would be delighted … to sign that bill. but that's not where we are. That's not where America is today. Where America is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade and return to the states that authority."

It's an ever evolving position...from a man who doesn't believe in evolution?

Roe v Wade shouldn't be overturned because it violates women's rights. I personally do not believe that life begins at conception so I believe that a woman has the right to do so if she wants. Besides, having it in America where a person can choose for him/her self on whether or not to have one or not is alot better than in other nations.

In my opinion, a Federal Appeal Court ruling that only people who can demonstrate that they are victims have the right to sue is wrong-headed, disgusting, and unconstitutional. This makes it impossible for anyone to sue because the record of those who has been wiretapped is top secret. This is denying Americans their constitution right to access to the Court and justice, and the perpetrators are not getting the justice they so duly deserve. This ruling by the Court is unconstitutional in that groups and individuals have real an unlawful acts perpetrated upon them by the wiretaps, whether or not they were personally targeted or not. This wiretapping program violates the laws governing domestic spying. The President does not have the inherent authority to act in disregard of those statutes on domestic spying. The Cincinnati Ohio Federal Appeal Court that ordered a lower Court to throw out a lawsuit that challenged President Bush’s domestic spying program is prejudicial and preposterous. This Ohio Federal Appeal Court once again showing partisanship toward the President and the Republican Party is I believe un-American and downright wrong. In my opinion there is no justice coming from this Court. Maybe the Senate Judiciary Committee by subpoenas will get the documents describing the legal rationale to the President’s domestic wiretapping program. The President now wants to amend the Foreign Intelligence Act, the law that governs domestic spying. Will this Bush tyrant ever cease to rise above the law? The blanket assertion by Bush and his administration has no discernible limits. Accepting this confers on the President the power of fascism, and corporatism. The Vice-President, Dick Cheney has blocked the promotion of a Justice Department official who questioned the legality of this program. This sort of behavior of our top government officials is down right fascist and tyrannical. It seems when this President and his administration breaks the law they just buy a court and judge to rule in their favor, how un-American and disgusting can these people get? Even the Chairman of the Senate intelligence Committee says he is not clear on the just-announced changes to the NSA’s domestic program. Folks, this is bad, very bad, with all this hot air coming from Congress, Bush has retreated a little on some divisive issues and will submit its domestic spying program to the Court for review. Maybe this will be a non-partisan court and not the Appeal Court in Cincinnati, which in my opinion is very partisan Republican Court. For what its worth the Republican partisan Justice Department claims it will give an independent body the authority to monitor the government’s controversial domestic spying program. Folks, there a snake in the woodpile and it needs taken out and the Congress must and should investigate every aspect of this program. Impeachment proceedings should have long ago begun in Congress, and why this Congress does not impeach Bush says a lot about this Congress. In my opinion IMPEACH this illegal and egotistical Republican President and make example out of him where no other President would dare do the things this person has done to the American people and their government. IMPEACH BUSH! William in Alabama
