McConnell: 'Not Happy about Troop Deaths, BUT'

TPM Election Central flagged down this quote in a local paper from Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell: "Nobody is happy about losing lives but remember these are not draftees, these are full-time professional soldiers."
So what's he saying? That because they signed up it's a small price?

That's a pretty disgusting and negligent comment by McConnell. I've passed this on to a lawyer I know who has a son in Iraq which I believe is on his 3rd tour. He's also been to Afghanistan.

I'll bet those vets who WERE draftees in the past feel real good about that comment too. You mean they WEREN't professional soldiers? Those who died in vietnam for that lie, weren't really soldiers, because after all, they were forced to go?
Mitch McConnell is nothing but a small man, with a big mouth ! I plan on working for his downfall!

Most of these "full-time professional soldiers" are kids who signed up so they could get college benefits that their families couldn't provide.
They've been promised the moon, and handed a stack of shit.

Isn't it obvious?! The gov't gives these spoiled brats free uniforms and free food... they get to see the world. The gov't might even help to pay for their education! And for what??? They can't take a few bullets in return w/o the liberal media making a big damn deal out of it??? Jeez. It'd be something else if there was a draft and wealthy kids had to go to war w/ the poor ones... but most of these jokers would end up in jail or worse anyway......
Now speaking not sarcastically... it's an absolute disgrace if Mitch doesn't get censured for these remarks. Republicans talk like this all of the time... but the media gives them a pass b/c "they're republicans.. they're SUPPOSED to be crazy and out of line." Well, this is really over the line and the remarks should be condemned quickly... on both sides of the aisle.

What a bizarre statement even for Mitchy McConell!
I am sure this will make him real popular with military families.

I took it to mean that he has very little respect for soldiers and the families that lose a dad,a husband,a son,the drastly wounded, and on down the line of relatives lives that will never be the same. How can the Bush Administration be so void of feeling?
