Not Particularly Interested
The man who America is not particularly interested in electing president doesn't really want the job, anyway. And while it's possible he's just playing hard-to-get, statements like this one the other day aren't helping:
"I'm not particularly interested in running for president..."
- Fred Thompson
He defends his remark, saying it's out-of-context, but who would go into an interview and tell the employer that they hated the process that goes along with getting hired?

I think the old bear would rather play a role where he acts like a president in a mini-series...and then take a nap until spring.
Heh.
Also, just after I posted, I came across this piece about Thompson that really drives the point home (sorry for the source).
Apparently Sen. Biden is not holding his breath for a seat at the Edwards table either.
~snip~
From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Edwards, electable? Not so much, according to a blistering memo out this afternoon from Biden Communications Director Larry Rasky.
“[T]he evidence that Edwards is more electable is at best thin and is probably misleading,” Rasky writes in the memo, which reads more like it is straight out of the RNC's research shop. “The first question mark is that Edwards was unlikely to hold onto to his North Carolina Senate seat in 2003 when he decided not to run for re-election. In short, if John Edwards is so electable, why couldn’t he be re-elected in his home state?”
He then hits Edwards for not carrying his home state as part of the Kerry-Edwards 2004 presidential ticket, and that they even lost Edwards’ home county.
I chuckle when I remember the anticipation of Fred Thompson entering this race, and becoming the next Ronald Reagan to the poor Republican slobs who still cling to this party.
Hope he did not give up his contract for his TV show----he will need to keep some job !

Rocky, Nader call on Demos to stop Clinton
In a joint letter, they imply she is beholden to corporations
By Christopher Smart / The Salt Lake Tribune
01/01/2008
Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson joined Ralph Nader on Monday in lambasting Hillary Clinton as a stooge for big business who should be stopped from capturing the Democratic nomination for president.
"Do you really believe if we replace a bunch of corporate Republicans with a bunch of corporate Democrats, that anything meaningful is going to change?" the statement asks. "This has to stop. It's that simple."
With the Iowa caucuses only days away, Nader issued the "New Year's Message" in conjunction with Anderson - who leaves office Jan. 7 - and Matt Gonzalez, former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. ...full article: http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_7855509

Nader throws support to Edwards
By: David Paul Kuhn
Dec 31, 2007
MUSCATINE, Iowa — Ralph Nader unleashed on Hillary Rodham Clinton Monday - criticizing her for being soft on defense spending and a chum of big business - and expressed his strong support for John Edwards.
In an 11th hour effort to encourage liberal Iowans to "recognize" Edwards by "giving him a victory," the activist and former presidential contender said in an interview that Clinton will "pander to corporate interest groups" if elected. ... full article: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1207/7647.html
Obama Attacks Gore in Iowa
..."I don't want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats, we've done that in 2004, 2000." - Barack Obama
Going out in style.
Not only does Mr. Obama attack Kerry, but he goes after Al Gore, someone with impeccable credentials who the entire Democratic party rightly respects. As for 2000, I think Mr. Obama needs an American history lesson. Seriously, is there no Democrat Mr. Obama won't attack for his own ends? ...full post: http://www.taylormarsh.com/archives_view.php?id=26750
What's wrong with trial lawyers? by kos
Mon Dec 31, 2007 at 01:10:31 PM PST
I am really starting to see Obama as someone who will rush to embrace every right-wing talking point against every Democratic constituencies.
In one of his standard riffs, Obama asserts that his career choices -- community organizer, civil rights lawyer, elected official -- underscores his commitment to public service and to bringing about political and social change. He always mentions the lucrative job offers he turned down, but today he added a new line.
"That's why I didn't become a trial lawyer," Obama told the Newton audience -- a clear dig at Edwards, who made millions in the courtroom. ...full post: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/12/31/16617/845/728/428456

Michael,
I hope you're not to bored now with the 2008 elections.
Please try to appreciate 2008 for what it is.
I still don't trust Clinton, she's too Republi-lite for may tastes. Obama is too green. Edwards is still the best choice.
And don't play the race/gender cards with me. I know BS when I see it posted. If you want to argue, talk about issues.
NH--Media Manipulation Extraordinaire by hannah
Tue Jan 01, 2008 at 06:59:52 AM PST
There are, at last report, fifteen (15) people on the Democratic ballot for the New Hampshire Presidential primary. Though most of the country has only heard from eight, it seems that the major media have now decided that even that's too many. After Iowa, the number will be winnowed down to four for the last so-called debate being conducted by ABC News at St. Anselm College near Manchester, NH.
hannah's diary :: ::
According to Kevin Landrigan, writing in the Nashua Telegraph
Fare well in N.H., Iowa, or no TV
Unless there's a mega-shock in Thursday's Iowa caucuses results, this will be the lineup of candidates invited to the pivotal debates that ABC-TV, WMUR and Facebook are sponsoring Saturday night on the campus of St. Anselm College.
Democrats: Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Edwards, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson.
Republicans: Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson.
Four Democrats and Six Republicans? And the reason for that would be? Republicans have little new to say and so more of them on the stage will give them equal weight?
We all know that political campaigns represent a new form of subsidy for an industry that viewers are leaving in droves, but that boring programming is the cause seems not to have sunk in.
The Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, Ray Buckley, always the diplomat, has opined mildly:
"New Hampshire has a long and proud tradition of serving as a level playing field and is the one state where each candidate can be given an equal opportunity to be heard by the voters. I would strongly encourage any NH media outlet holding candidate debates or forums not to eliminate a sitting US Senator or member of Congress" ...full post with links: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/1/8554/92924

Here are the voices of two sitting Senators and one sitting Congressman with year-long in-state campaign presences and delegates that you may not be hearing at the debate this Saturday, just a few days before our primary. Why? Because someone in Iowa has made that decision for you, according to the debate rules.
And once again, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley's reaction to this perversity: http://bluehampshire.com/showDiary.do;jsessionid=FC303235EF4AF2C7969574505D5A38E4?diaryId=3011

M. Collins: Forget the Torture Tapes
There’s a reflexive tendency to think the worst of the Bush-Cheney administration when scandals like the torture tapes emerge. This tendency is well justified.
This administration’s defining moment was the Iraq invasion. Over time, it caused death to 1.2 million civilians and the injuries of 1.1 million noncombatants. Just last week we found out that there are now five million orphans in Iraq.
How can the administration and their enablers ever top that? Why shouldn’t we expect the worst immediately when we hear yet another accusation of criminal or unethical conduct?
Destroying torture tapes pales by comparison to these tragedies, all a result of the illegal invasion:

September 2007 – More than 1,000,000 Iraqis murdered
In the week in which General Patraeus reports back to US Congress on the impact the recent ‘surge’ is having in Iraq, a new poll reveals that more than 1,000,000 Iraqi citizens have been murdered since the invasion took place in 2003.
Previous estimates, most noticeably the one published in the Lancet in October 2006, suggested almost half this number (654,965 deaths).
These findings come from a poll released today by ORB, the British polling agency that has been tracking public opinion in Iraq since 2005. In conjunction with their Iraqi fieldwork agency a representative sample of 1,499 adults aged 18+ answered the following question:-
QHow many members of your household, if any, have died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003 (ie as a result of violence rather than a natural death such as old age)? Please note that I mean those who were actually living under your roof.
None 78%
One 16%
Two 5%
Three 1%
Four or more 0.002%
Given that from the 2005 census there are a total of 4,050,597 households this data suggests a total of 1,220,580 deaths since the invasion in 2003. Calculating the affect from the margin of error we believe that the range is a minimum of 733,158 to a maximum of 1,446,063 ...full article: http://www.opinion.co.uk/Newsroom_details.aspx?NewsId=78

What difference does it make if he has an opinion on the election process. At least it shows his character is of being honest. How many democrats can say the same thing?
But on to a more relevant topic. Instead of desperately seeking something to bitch about...
A scientific view point on God and all things spiritual has fouled up the evolution of society again. Proof positive. No democrat can refute....
ADHD & ADD are seen as disorders. And thus treated as such. Thus medication to inhibit the disorder is the goal.
If the practical opinion that God created humanity with purpose was held up,.. then people would understand that add is a gift of thought process,.. and thus work with the gift.
Just like how dyslexia is a visual mindset that has weaknesses tied into picturing letters (easily fixed with molding letters out of clay),.. add can give people free reign thought process to multiply free thinking.
Science has failed again. Lets see how they rationalize and justify their failures. They bit off more then they can chew... PERIOD. They have their head so far up their own asses that they cannot see one half of other people points of view. They took on responsibility they weren't able to handle and failed. Miserably stumping the growth of society by stumping gifts that would enable real growth. These failures they choose to make won't be seen until 40 years down the road. Even bigger the foul.
But God made retards (says the liberalist scientist). No God made a society where the sins of the father are passed down through the generations. Thus adapting to alcohol makes people who are born the the alcoholism gene have a higher tolerance to alcohol and feel more natural the first time they drink,.. both signs of building a tolerance to alcohol. Thus we see the scientific term of adaptation,.. but scientists BELIEVE in random mutations. Yet another contradiction of faith. Nothing is random.
Ohhh,.. the rest of the retardation is not having enough of what is needed for development.
Do you want to discuss anything else about Christianity? Cause not a single word of God has been disproved.... It's just scientifically believed there is no reason to look in that direction. Just like there is no scientific reason to look at the soul. So spiritual depression from having false expectations is a mental disorder that needs to be medicated. They say God fouled up everything. Surprising that they believe anybody Godly would foul up everything they touch also.
Science is brainwashing by limiting perspective. The only believable lie is one that is based in truth. Thus they make assumptions from a limited pool of facts. They make huge half truths up and expect us to have faith in them over God. Huge assumptions that are used to replace Godly thinking in order to redirect and change our entire society.
You democrats have failed the world by allowing these huge misdirections of truth to get more clout then any word of God. You failed every kid that grows up believing spirituality is a sin. All because the bad apples of religion are aloud to define religion. Even the hate crimes against Christianity get swept under the rug to fit your agenda. Define Christians by their weak and call all gays saints. Thus you have taken the democratic vow.
HeyArnold,
God is a big subject. In the meantime drink red wine. A lot of it.
Hmmm,.. don't belittle the things you don't like,.. try and understand them.
Belittleing things you don't like doesn't actually make you better then them. It just makes you think your better then them.
What is the point??? It depends on the conclusions you draw. Why don't you state them instead of distracting from them.
You don't really like Jesus too much do you, Arnold?
He makes life too easy for a lot of sinful people. He gives them an easy way out when you believe it's not suppose to be that way. Those that keep the Sabbath and work hard should be the only ones who go to heaven.
Sorry, Arnold. God had other ideas when he created all of his creatures. If you repent even at the last minute, you're forgiven. He set up the world that way but you keep fighting it.
Let go of all that jealousy and bad feelings. You're wasting a lot of time and effort fretting over other peoples' sinfulness and forgeting that you have you own soul to save.
This is a political site not a church. We are only interested in promoting peace and prosperity within our society. If a government isn't responsive to the needs of all its citizens, it breaks down.
Those that live in a republic are bound by their Constitution to take steps to make sure it does not do that. That is what we are doing here.
Please quit confusing faith and politics.
Salvation and redeemption does not lie within rules written by Man. You must look elsewhere for the answers to the things that are clearly tormenting you. I hope you find them before you die.

Kucinich Urges Supporters to Back Obama on Second Iowa Ballot
For Immediate Release - Tuesday, January 01, 2008
DES MOINES, IA - Democratic Presidential candidate and Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich opened the New Year by publicly asking his Iowa supporters to vote for him in the caucuses this Thursday, and suggesting that if he did not make the 15% threshold, their second ballot should be for Senator Barack Obama. "This is obviously an 'Iowa-only' recommendation, as Sen. Obama and I are competing in the New Hampshire primary next Tuesday where I want to be the first choice of New Hampshire voters.
"I hope Iowans will caucus for me as their first choice this Thursday, because of my singular positions on the war, on health care, and trade. This is an opportunity for people to stand up for themselves. But in those caucus locations where my support doesn't reach the necessary threshold, I strongly encourage all of my supporters to make Barack Obama their second choice. Sen. Obama and I have one thing in common: Change."
Hey Arnold,
What nonsense are you talking about. You attack people who believe differently than you without stating why. I am outraged that you call people who don't, act or talk like you "retards". To me that is a personal insult. Contrary to your belief, God created us all as equals and gave us free will and the ability to make our own choices about our lives. The reason why Christians going to prison and they are so many hate crimes against them is this: Because they made their own choices to break the laws of this country and done some terrible things to their own members. They have forced their views of intolerance and bigotry on people and the people of this country are finally seeing the truth and are now shunning the American Christians. Please come back when you finally decide to grow up.
I Agree, Fred Thompson does not appear awake enough to realize how passionate everyone is, especially the voters.
The American people are awake and watching.
