Mukasey: Feels Waterboarding Torture "If Done to Me"

It's not entirely clear which distinction he was making in his answer compared to what he said in the letter (which said that it's not clearly illegal).
You can find the video over at Think Progress and watch the response to Senator Kennedy's question, which invokes Cicero.
Here's a rough transcript from the Judiciary Committee hearing:
Kennedy: So I won't even bother to ask you whether waterboarding counts as torture because we know from your letter that we won't get a straight answer. So let me ask you this, would waterboarding be torture if it was done to you?
Mukasey: I would feel that it was.

Not even answering the question. Mukasey was asked a simple question which was "is waterboarding torture?". Which required a simple answer of yes or no, Instead he decided to defend Bush's illegal use of torture. Do these people in the White House and the Justice Department can go to jail for repeated violations of the Geneva Convention and for violating the eighth amendment which bans cruel and unusual punishment.

Hooray. I am so glad to hear that question. I was sitting there watching this on c-span and as the questions kept dancing around, I thought, "Gee, perhaps Schumer should suggest that 'we just do it to you now and see how it feels'...dah"!!!
While at it, we should continue to persecute strongly those who torture animals too. What is this country coming to, as the denial and deceit continues at the top and as the darkness rises, all of this criminal behavior is mirrored in the loss, poverty and desperation of burning down one's own home...it seems one extreme begets another.
Did any of these guys go to college or take a Sociology, Philosophy, or a History class? It reminds me of the war of 1812, no not here, in Russia when the Germans invaded in the winter - there was a symphony about it. Remember the story? They burnt their own town down and the Germans all died of frostbite. What's that old saying by Santana? 'Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.'
I will never understand why Americans got (not chose, got) a bunch of used car salesmen in the white house at a time like this. It never has been good to change cars midstream, the internal combustion engines rust out. Better yet, I will just end all of this blah with another disgusted Dah.

I can answer that one, the Republicans used a combination of fear and praying on the stupidity of the American people. The reason I called them stupid in this instance is that Bush and Rove were trying to sell their nonsense around the country. The American people after suffering the first four years under this war criminal knew fully well that Bush and his cronies would never tell the truth. They actually brought this baloney and reelected that idiot knowing full well that Bush will never represent the interests of the American people. I saw through that baloney in 2004 and voted for John Kerry so that Kerry could clean up the Bush regime's mess. Instead later on, I found out that the former Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell in my state of Ohio was behind Bush's so called re-election. Since it was he who brought those Diebold machines and his goons probably tampered with the machines causing this mess. So if there is anyone to blame for Bush's re-election, cast your blame on Kenneth Blackwell.
