John McCain Skips Stimulus Package Vote
Posted by Michael Link on February 7, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Yesterday Republicans blocked the economic stimulus package in the Senate, which would have extended unemployment benefits and sends helped out wounded and disabled veterans. It also would have helped 21.5 million senior citizens get stimulus checks, among other things.
Democrats were one vote short of pushing it through the Republican obstruction, but where was John McCain? Holding "Mac is Back" rallies, putting what's best for his campaign ahead of what's best for the country.
One vote. That's all we needed to stop the obstruction and get this done for the American people. McCain was nowhere to be seen.
Maybe he's just not all that interested in the economy. Last month U.S. News wrote that the GOP frontrunners "appeared unaware of the fiscal stimulus debate currently happening in Washington." And he has noted himself that he "doesn't really understand economics."

Before I say anything, where was Hillary and Barack?
So people honestly beleive that John McCain will bring much needed change to our country. Well, think again, this is an honest action of what he thinks about the people, versus the Republican Party's wishes.
Being a veteran of the viet nam war era, I appreciate his service to America. But I disagree with his beliefs that GWB's war that we're FORCED to endure today, is in our country's best interest, is bul__hit. The war is wrong, the fatalities are wrong, and John McCain supports this tradgity.
Yeah, but Mike, what good is this so-called stimulus package going to for the whole of economic needs? This package is a sham on the American people!
For one thing it goes to people that make a minimum of $75,000, or $150,000 jointly. If some have earned income of $3000 then they might qualify for $300, or if the have dependent children and paid taxes in 2007 they might qualify for $300 per child.
Here are a couple links to my opinion of what good this stimulus package will do for the whole of our economy:
It's the deficit, Stupid!
I hate to say 'I told you so', but...
And, one from my blog:
Balanced budget, or economic stimulus?
In keeping with my style, IMHO!!;~b

McCain was the only Senator who did not vote on the bill.
Good point, Mike! It would be nice to know his sense of this "stimulus package"; aye, or nay. But, then again, I think McCain thinks he's on legislative leave because he's a candidate for president, and therefore doesn't have to vote on Senate bills. You know, it's kind of like that separation clause between branches of government. He can't vote on something that...OMG, I'm trying to get inside McCain's head and am immediately met with a void. Eh, eh, eh, I must be there!!;~b
