Karl Rove's Candidate
QUESTION: Karl Rove?
MCCAIN: Oh I, listen, he ah. Nobody denies he's one of the smartest political minds in America. I'd be glad to get his advice. I get advice from a lot of people. I'd be happy to have his advice.
QUESTION: I was wondering about that, right…
MCCAIN: He beat me. I certainly would be glad to get his advice. I don't think I'd want to revisit how he did it. And I mean that. Not about South Carolina. I mean I don't feel like reliving my defeat.
QUESTION: Are you worried about, he uses very aggressive tactics is that something that--
MCCAIN: I've always respected Karl Rove as one of the smart great political minds I think in American politics. I've always respected him. We never had any ill will after the initial South Carolina thing. After we had the meeting with President Bush we moved on. I've seen Karl Rove many times when I've been over at the White House. We've always had pleasant conversations.

Karl Rove deserves to be flogged repeatedly on the White House lawn by we the people for his crimes against humanity. The man has 666 tattooed on his arse I believe and should be considered a threat to national security and the American way of life.

I second that motion, all in favor, say "Aye!"
Karl Rover deserves to be housed in Leavenworth with a big bad bi biker named Bubba for a cellmate. On second thought, he might enjoy it too much.
If McCain had no problem letting Karl Rove kick him around in 2000 and now rolls over and lets him rub his belly, imagine what Putin or HU Jintao could do to him. He's acting like an abused spouse.
Why would we want to put him in charge of our national security when he doesn't care how ruthless people treat him?
It's sad to face the truth, but McCain's spirt was broken in that Hannoi prison. He's a survivor not a leader.
Karl Rove, respected. You got to be kidding me. This subhuman took away Crawford's village idiot and forced the village idiot upon us. I say let's give Karl Rove a taste of his own medicine and beat the tar out of the Republicans. Butte, I have a more fitting punishment for him. I suggest a combination of Habitat for Humanity and making him fix our election system which he broke under heavy guard of course. Karl Rove needs to do a lifetime of community service, cleaning up the mess that his former bosses have made, forcing him to donate thirty percent of his paychecks and royalities to reduce the national debt and to use his money for charitible causes.
annora...that is one of the most blatantly racist comments I have ever seen on one of these blogs...you should be ashamed of yourself..i vote for whom I believe will best serve the needs of this country and i'll be damned if I will use race, ethnicity, sex or religious orientation as a litmus test...you have no business in talking about love of country when you can't even subscribe to it's basic principles of freedom and equality.

I think Hillary or Obama could make a very good President, but I am afraid of Obamas' vunerability when Rove and the right wingers get their propaganda machine a going. I must say I am also disappointed in the way that African Americans have abandoned the Clintons. No one did more than Bill and Hillary for their race. I realize there is a lot of pride in voting for one of your own, but 80% is rediculous. Hillary is the only candadate to support Universal Health care. Many African Americans will be left out under Obamas plan. Promising affordable Health Insurance is the same thing the Republicans have always said during a Presidental election year. Also to totally ignore the experience is foolish.

It really is a shame Obama decided to run at this time in our History. Everything is so complicated in Foreign Affairs and in the economy.
I am scared to death Obama may slip through and win.
It is so smart to vote for Hillary. She has the best people with her.
I believe the Democrats in Government that have backed Obama have an agenda to be active in running the Country.
Let's not fall for their agenda?

Bush is the Symptom - Conservatism is the Disease
As many of us have predicted, the Republican presidential candidates are in a knock-down, drag-out battle to claim the mantle of 'the most conservative ever'. McCain, indeed, is labeled by the other candidates as a 'liberal', the pinnacle of epithets. 'Pedophile' would not be a more derogatory, insulting term. You might as well call him a 'Satanist who bites the heads off of blastocysts' and get it over with.
Conservatives revere and revel in the label 'conservative' in a way that liberals ceased to do in the sixties, when conservatives began blaming liberalism for every evil under the sun. Before that, the majority of Americans self-identified as liberals; liberalism represented the things in society that Americans valued - equality, diversity, making sure that everyone had a chance at the "American Dream". The economic programs that gave us a middle class - strong unions, the GI Bill, Social Security, Medicare - are liberal programs. Liberals believe that you can't sacrifice people so that corporations can grow fat. Liberals know that the 'trickle down theory' is, as Dubya's father once rightly said, 'voodoo economics', and that the only boats that a 'rising tide lifts' are yachts. Liberals believe that we as a nation have a responsibility, not for, but to all of our citizens (there's a difference) and that government is not the enemy, but 'We the People'. It's not 'them', it's 'us'. But when conservatives, backed by the limitless coffers of Big Business Republican think-tanks who saw their vision of conservative financial and social dominance slipping away, decided to attack liberalism as the symbol of all that's wrong with America, liberals did not challenge this assertion and it became part of the national narrative without liberals quite knowing what happened.
So, while statistics show that the economy does better under Democratic leadership and worse under Republican leadership, conservatives brag about belonging to the party of 'fiscal responsibility.'
While Republicans accuse Democrats of being 'soft on terror', their party and their President have increased and encouraged terrorism by attacking and occupying a sovereign nation without the resources to defend themselves, and created terrorism where there was none before.
While Republicans consider themselves to be the party of Morality and accuse Democrats of having no values, in the most egregious examples of 'do as I say, not as I do', the overwhelming majority of sex and corruption scandals have involved Republicans, not Democrats.
The [Republican] party that supposedly believes in 'small government' inevitably bloats it [government] to unprecedented numbers.
The [Republican] party that harps upon Personal Responsibility seems congenitally incapable of accepting responsibility for its failings, always blaming them on others.
Please note that I am not giving Dems a free pass here - no one can be in politics and keep their hands perfectly clean - no one. It's the way the system is set up. But the ones who claim to be more moral than everyone else because of their high religious principles and who are constantly pointing their fingers at others seem to be the ones that are doing every immoral thing they condemn others for.
And these are the people who are proudly claiming the mantle of conservatism.
For those conservatives who have reluctantly admitted that the Bush Administrtion has been, shall we say, less that stellar - is the reason for George W.'s failure as President simply that he is not conservative enough? Is that his problem? For the true believers, conservatism never fails - it is only failed.
Somehow, with a Republican president, complete Republican control of Congress, and a majority of conservative Supreme Court justices - as well as a religious right that has been calling the shots in Washington for almost eight years - conservatism has not been given a real chance!
Please pardon me if I'm not hopping on that particular bandwagon. Yes, the party with absolute control of everything, that left Democrats completely shut out and voiceless for six years and when they got the tiniest sliver of a majority back, filibusters them into irrelevance without a murmur of dissent - that party has not had a fair shot at giving conservatism a chance.
I beg to differ, comrades.
We have had the implementation of unfettered conservatism for the past twenty-five years. In my upcoming book the Price of Right I've set myself the task to make clear why it is not just George W. Bush that is the problem - it is the ideology of conservatism itself.
Bush is the symptom; conservatism is the disease.
Even as liberals debate conservatives, we cede them the ‘rightness’ of their basic tenets, which I think is a mistake. I hope to show that conservatism – both social and economic – is detrimental to a democratic society. By ‘conservatism’ I do not mean prudence and moderation - which is what many people take conservatism to mean – but the political and social meaning which includes the myth of the ‘free market’, the elimination of as much regulation and taxes as can be gotten away with, the myth that privatization is the best way to deal with society’s needs, and that government is in itself a bad thing. The (usually) unspoken corollary to this is the ‘Conservative Golden Rule’ – he who has the gold makes the rules. In other words, the people with money and power are the best and most deserving – simply because they have the money and power! This is a strongly-held belief of many people, but it is not acceptable to say in so many words, so there are many euphemisms to describe it - ‘meritocracy’, ‘pulling yourself up by your bootstraps’, ‘reverse discrimination’, and so on. Conservatism’s message is connected to some very powerful societal myths that resonate deeply in the subconscious mind, making it easier to believe in the myths than the facts.
But America as a nation was built on liberal and progressive values, rather than conservative ones. If by ‘conservative’ you mean the status quo – keeping things the way they are, rather than changing, then conservatives would be the Royalists and liberals would be the Revolutionaries. The United States of America was not founded by people who did as they were told by the authority in power – in this case George III, who considered his power directly God-given. In fact, every significant advance in this country for the betterment of its people – freedom for slaves, women’s rights, child-labor laws, civil rights, the American 20th-century middle class itself – came about as a result of liberal ideals and policies.
For much of the 20th century after World War II, American values were liberal values. The New Deal gave us the American Dream – a thriving middle class. But the paradigm began shifting in the sixties, when the plan to rebuild conservatism intersected with the disappointment of Vietnam, which put a damper on what it meant to be liberal. Powerful changes were beginning, but they were under the radar of American consciousness.
We began feeling the rumbles of this seismic shift in the late seventies, when Jerry Falwell’s Moral Majority injected politics into religion, ushering in the so-called “Reagan Revolution”. The admixture of moral righteousness with conservative economic tenets begat a Republican mindset that allowed for little or no consideration of other points of view. With this new majority, conservatives could afford to ignore the bipartisanship which would normally force it to mitigate or dilute its objectives. The liberal view became, not just incorrect, but morally flawed as well in the eyes of this new political meld, the Christian conservatives. Each group had its own reasons for criticizing liberalism before, but, fused together as a political unit, the two groups reinforced each other’s beliefs synergistically. Traditional liberal values such as tolerance, diversity, empathy and compassion became evils to be rooted out instead of solutions to the ills of society.
This set of 'values' insists that "Government is the enemy and Big Business is your friend." They believe, incredibly, that tax cuts plus borrowing and spending equal prosperity! The sad truth is that our government (and the rest of the world) is run, not by Democrats, or even Republicans, but by multinational corporations. These corporations want Republicans in power because they fit the most easily into the authoritarian nature of conservatism, and are thus much easier to bend to their will.
I don't believe that most conservatives (our family and friends, many of whom are affected as adversely as the rest of us by unregulated, laissez-faire capitalism) understand what their policies really mean in terms of the economy, the so-called "War on Terror", jobs, education, health care, the deficit, civil liberties, and our relationships with the rest of the world. But, as most people know by now, the Republicans have been positioning themselves for this complete takeover of government for forty years. It has been carefully planned and massively funded. And the way they have captured the hearts and minds of the American fiscal and religious conservatives was not an accident. It has been done by playing into the deepest wants, needs, and fears of people who are the most comfortable with authoritarian structure. It has been done systematically through the use of language and framing, and using the same subliminal techniques that advertisers use when they want you to choose their product over a competitor's; not because of inherent differences between the products, but by applying motivational 'triggers' which have nothing to do with the product itself. That's where the media comes in, The average American, who works harder and longer for less and less, sits down for an hour, exhausted, in front of the television set and takes it on faith that what he or she is seeing on the news is true. And when the narrative is skewed to promote the ideas that those in power wish to have the public believe, most people are not in a position to judge how much is true and how much is spin. The line between 'news' and 'commentary' has been completely blurred to boost advertising revenue, and the American people - you and I - are paying the price.
George W. Bush certainly is the worst president in American history, but he could not have achieved that distinction without the conservative philosophy that says "What's good for business is good for America." It is conservativism that has created the monster that is George W. Bush, not the other way around.
I believe it is time for liberals to call themselves liberals, and be proud of being liberal. It is time to stop ceding conservatives the moral high ground and start pointing out where conservatism has had a direct and destructive effect on the United States and the rest of the world.
Conservatism is inherently anti-democratic. Conservatives do not believe that all men (and women) are created equal. Conservatives believe that some people are more equal, more deserving, more entitled than others, and it's the fault of the 'others' if they are shut out.
Folks, the principles that our nation was founded on are the exact principles that conservatives oppose! We as liberals need to begin pointing that out. Nothing would make me happier than to see a Democratic candidate boast about what a liberal he or she was. That would give me hope for our country.
Remember - Bush is only the symptom - conservatism is the disease. Let's work togther for a cure.
http://lastleftb4hooterville.blogspot.com/2008/02/bush-is-symptom-conservatism-is-disease.html
Martha A,
You are absolutely correct. But I think there is a cure and it's "keep conservatives and Republicans out of power." My state of Ohio have suffered under 16 years of Republican leadership. It wasn't until 2006 when the people voted for Ted Strickland that my state had a chance to undo Republican damage was inflicted upon it. George W. Bush is not an monster, he is a moron. Because in order for him to be an monster, he has to have an brain. But George W. Bush doesn't have a brain and instead is the equalivent of an wooden dummy which the Right-Wing Religious Zealots use as their mouthpiece.
Conservative; one who conserves.
What are these "conservatives" conserving?
Not anything that they loudly prate about.
"Conservatives" have come to mean liars, destroyers of our way of life, attackers of the Constitution, even destroyers of our conservation programs to protect our natural resources.
They have "conserved" nothing.
In the United States, the 70% Common Population's Political Class and Culture makes less than $121,000 dollars a year to subsist upon; and, should any of the 70% Common Population lose their subsistence job's working for the 20% Professional Class & Culture or the 10% Elite Capitalist Class & Culture, they will fall into the ranks of the poor until when and/or if they get back onto their feet with a sufficient new job; therefore, the poor are a neverending part of the 70% Common Population's Political Class and Culture that will be with us always and can not be separated from the Common Population.
The 20% Professional Political Class and Culture is the NEW middle class population that earns $121,000 to 1 Million Dollars a year working for the 10% Elite Capitalist Class & Culture and can also fall into the ranks of the poor should they lose their jobs; as the Professional Political Class and Culture is the cream from the 70% Common Population's Political Class and Culture that have chosen to be a separate political class and culture, separated from the Common Population.
The 10% Elite Capitalist Political Class and Culture make Millions to Billions of Dollars per year and work only by choice.
The Common Population's Political Class and Culture are without subsistance rights and must realize the Common Population are liberals in need of holding a job for subsistance rights, instead of conservatives living off their own capital; but even more than that, the Common Population's DIVERSE Political Class and Culture needs to realize the Common Population are not only a political class, but are a political culture unto themselves POLITICALLY, and start defending their own political class and culture against the conservatism of the RIGHT, as well as the 20% Corporate DLC's Professional Political Conservative Class and Culture of the LEFT, represented in Congress by the corporate Democratic Leadership Council, the DLC. If not, there can be NO HOPE for the 70% Common Population to ever be able to regain subsistence rights in the nation.
Also, the candidates, the media and the blogs are always talking about the MIDDLE CLASS, can there be TWO Middle Classes?????? NO THERE CAN NOT!!!!!!! --- Because the 20% Corporate DLC's NEW Political Professional Class IS the Middle Class of the NATION earning $121,000 to $1,000,000. per year, while the SUPPOSED other middle class IS NOT A CLASS at all, BUT IS A CONSTITUENT PART OF THE COMMON POPULATION'S CLASS AND CULTURE, the MIDDLE of the Common Population EARNS $40,000. to $120,000. according to an NPR report, which is being promoted as the MIDDLE CLASS to divide the common population. The actual middle class is the Corporate DLC's MIDDLE CLASS & CULTURE of the Nation that earns $121,000 to 1 Million Dollars a year. Which middle are they talking about? Is it the Middle Class of the Nation, or the Middle of the Class & Culture of the Common Population? That is a BIG DIFFERENCE. Inquiring minds want to know, and this needs to be widely discusssed because their talking incorrect rhetoric about TWO MIDDLES, one middle earning $40,000. to $120,000., and another middle earning $121,000.- $1 Million Dollars just below the Elite Capitalists, the Corporate DLC's NEW CLASS & CULTURE, the Political Professional Class and Culture THAT CAN NOT BE IGNORED as they are the TRUE MIDDLE CLASS of the United States.
The middle class of the nation IS the 20% Professional Class and Culture, the DLC's new class, which is the one and only middle class of the Nation. THERE IS NO OTHER MIDDLE CLASS -- the middle they talk about is a median income for the Common Population Class & Culture, but a median income is not a middle class and culture, but is simply a median income of the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION'S CLASS AND CULTURE.
Misconstruing the COMMON POPULATIONS CLASS & CULTURE as the middle class is common with totalitarian conservatism because it can be accepted by the unknowing, and divides the 70% COMMON POPULATIONS CLASS & CULTURE to the benefit of the other classes. It is necessary to understand that raising or lowering the median income of the 70% majority common populations class and culture does not make another middle class. There is only ONE Middle Class in the three political classes and cultures in the United States listed as follows:
FIRST CLASS & CULTURE -- 10% Elite Capitalist Class & Culture's Millions to Billions of dollars yearly,
SECOND CLASS & CULTURE -- 20% Corporate DLC's Political Professional Class & Culture's $121,000. to $1,000,000. yearly, THE REAL MIDDLE CLASS, and the
THIRD CLASS & CULTURE -- 70% Majority Common Population Class & Culture's $0 - $120,000. yearly.
There is no way the so called $40,000. -$120,000. yearly income wages rhetoric can be misconstrued as the middle class of the nation, but is ONLY an income figure derived from the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION'S CLASS & CULTURE.
Now, WE THE PEOPLE are in need of legislation for a new party, representative of the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION'S CLASS & CULTURE, because our representation has been taken away by the Corporate DLC's NEW PROFESSIONAL CLASS & CULTURE, as neither one, nor two parties, can possibly represent THREE classes and cultures; and represent their own class & culture and the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION'S CLASS & CULTURE GOES UNREPRESENTED as swing voters with super delegates MARGINALIZING the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION'S CLASS & CULTURE continually.
WE THE PEOPLE of the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION MUST CONTINUE TO WAKE UP so that WE THE PEOPLE CAN MAKE DEMOCRACY MANIFEST, because orthodox democracy is nothing but totalitarianism.
Butte:
Conservatism -- Conservatives, the RIGHT, conserve the money, the wealth of the nation, to themselves, into their coffers and away from the 70% Common Population as a class and culture. There is no way one will ever understand politics until they come to the understanding that there is a political class and culture called the common population, the LEFT, which is a wide diversified 70% of the population, but in order to win against the RIGHT, the LEFT has to stick together like glue. I would liken it to a heard of giraffes in Africa, if they don't stick together they will be destroyed. The conservative conserves their way of life, not the common populations way of life. The conservative could care less about the common populations way of life. The war in Iraq was specifically to take money away from the common population. Everything that the RIGHT has done or will do, will always be an effort to take money away from any kind of support for the common population, so that the common population will be without any support and easily controlled. The Conservative, the RIGHT, is afraid of an educated common population and do all they can to keep themselves in cloud people status and the common people minimized. Democracy is not something conservatives want at all.
Are you kidding, I would prefer the Clintons over Bush the tyrant any day of the week. Bill Clinton may have lied about his blowjob, but at least nobody died for it,economy was good and every country liked America. I am so tired of the Right Wing Religious Zealots in this country attacking the Clintons for an sexual act with an intern compared to what their president and vice president have done. Bush and Cheney deserve to not only be attacked for they have done, but also have done a lot of things that they should go to prison for. Patriotmom, you keep attacking the Clintons for something that happened ten years ago and was something minor. Noone cares about Bill Clinton getting an blowjob now, Please move on. The good, honest people Patriotmom speaks of are already getting screwed by George W. Bush as we speak. Millions of average Middle Class are getting screwed by these Right Wing Republicans who support Big Business. The people of this country under the Bush Administration are losing their jobs, their homes by predatory subprime mortage companies, young people not being able to afford college, paying outragous preminiums on healthcare, 47 million people don't have health insurance because it costs so much. I could go on and on about how the Bush Administration has failed the people of this country. For your information, you are thinking of both George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for the prize of the best breathing liars. We are not crazy, just more wiser than before.
We should be extremely wary of the dirty tricks Rove is capable of pulling on our nominees. Remember what they did to McCain in 2000 at SC.
It is my hope that Karl Rove and others in the Bush administration will have their day in court and time in jail.
Sincerely;
Charles Bombaugh
This is off topic, but please, please whatever you do, do not overturn the ruling on Michigan and Florida. It would be the death of the democratic party, having the super delegates decide would also be its death. Finally, people actually believe, again, that their vote counts. You can not take that away. What would be best is for Edwards to give them each half of his delegates, and if any rules are to be changed it should be, the one at the end with the most delegates wins - no one can argue with the will of the people. It was a huge mistake to punish MI and FL soo harshly. But it is too late to go back, unless the DNC pays for a brand new election in each state.
Obama said "Her supporting NAFTA didn't give jobs to the American people," Obama said of the free trade agreement implemented while Bill Clinton was in the White House. "Her supporting a bankruptcy bill made it harder for people to get out of debt that didn't help them with the bills that were stacking up on their desks."
Well, i dont care if the Clintons supported NAFTA. When Hillary gets in office, her plans and visions and energy will FAR exceed success, helping launch America, create new jobs.
Like the Clintons said, some jobs are not coming back and we shouldnt look to the past, but to the future and see what future 'green' jobs, can be generated..
We already have got a taste of what McCain would do to Obama on the issue of experience. In the general election Obama will not be able to hide behind Teddy when that question comes up.
Experience counts and Democrats will pay dearly in the general elections if we discount Hillary's experience and her ability to withstand the Republicans; she has been doing that successfully for the last 12 years and is still standing.
Remember the last election; Teddy's man lost to the "Village Idiot".
Obama is an inspirational speaker. Is that what we want in a President.
HOW HILLARY WILL LOSE ME
I am a life long Democrat—I even worked in the Carter White House. I’ve supported Democrats forever, and was a huge supporter of Bill Clinton.
I will support the Democratic Party’s nominee, provided that:
1. The Super Delegates do not reverse the winner of a majority of the elected delegates; and
2. The Democratic Convention does not seat the Michigan and Florida delegates elected in the unsupported January primaries. Instead, the DNC should advise MI and FL that their delegates will be seated only if they are selected by a caucus or primary sanctioned by the DNC, and in which both remaining Dem candidates are on the ballot and are permitted to campaign.
IN THE EVENT that the above two conditions are not met—i.e., Hillary gets the nomination notwithstanding democratic principals and following rules, then this would be more of the chicanery, parsing, and slick behavior that I uncomfortably defended for 8 years of Bill and will not defend for Hillary.
Instead, in the event that Hillary wins a technical victory on either of those points, then I will contribute to John McCain and will leave my business and travel at my own expense to work for his campaign.
I don’t like it, but I suspect that I am not alone. I believe I am simply representative of many other Dems who won’t support Hillary if she is so slick as to win on a technicality.
Given that polls show that 47% of American voters “Hate” Hillary (I am NOT among them), by losing me and others of my cohort, there is no way Hillary will get a majority of the vote.
Hillary beware.
Hillary for Prez, Obama for Vice Prez. This is the perfect ticket.
Obama CAN NEVER be asked about experience, because HIllary withstand that argument. HIllary, can NEVER be asked about experience, because Obama will be the new fresh face, to power her up, with a fresh spirit of Change.
Experience + Change = winning ticket.
The democrats have the perfect candidates. They complete each other.
Obama needs to let it go and let Hillary be the Prez. She can withstand great amount of pressure and can help and the less experience, but brilliant future-to be in-waiting Prez, Obama. He will need Hillary, the way Bush (the less experience candidate) NEEDS Cheney, to get work DONE.
Hillary, on the other hand, NEEDS Obama, to be kinder, softer-side of her.
We are thinking too hard, but they both need each other. They are the perfect candidates to win the ticket.
I wish them both well.
As for McCain? Go ahead, vote for him. I dont mind having a McBushain in the White House, if we all cant get our acts together. Four more years of Hell!! Great!
Why hate Bill and Hillary? The Clintons are good for America.
In 2000, I was watching the 'Money' channel and the news anchorman said that in order for the American people to benefit, we need a balanced government to pit against one another, giving us all, the best.
When Bill was Prez, this is what happened, the Ying and Yang force, pit each other up, forming the perfect unions of both parties.
The reason the 90's were crazy was because Bill Clinton, fought for you and me and grew the economy. The Republicans fought back to, which helped the Democrats from socializing everything.
Have you looked at Bush's legacy? He had no opposition. Everyone acted like a Republican. What do we have? A disfunctional government :)
It's good to bring the Clintons back to clean the house.
Obama is young and he is a rising star. If he perseveres and fights for his beliefs, he will also be a beloved Prez and maybe even more beloved than Bill Clinton.
HIllary Obama for Prez!!! Let Hillary take the heat and the beatings and the bruises and the pressure, away from Obama. It's good for Obama to just be the VP and learn as much as he can. He has time. He's young. He'll learn a lot, working with the Clintons and once he matures, he'll even be better than him. He'll have SPEECH + Experience. He'll be unbeatable!!
Trust me, once in teh White House, Obama will need Hillary to guard him, against the Republican dogs. They sleep in the day, and come out in the dark, snarling, and spreading hatred and anger and fear.
He needs Hillary to whip@ss and Hillary needs him to speak of a softer, kindler and gentler America.
Hillary will be one boring ticket without Obama, but without Hillary, Obama will not be able to withstand the Republican dogs, who, dragged Kerry (a true war hero), down to the bottomless pit.
I believe that all these events have not made Hillary or Obama, any weaker. It has made both of them, stronger and sharper. Obama's defeats have made him, an even better, speaker and fighter for their causes.
Beware Republicans!! Here they come! If they both have their heads screwed on right, the Republicans, dont stand a chance.
Obama needs to help Hillary win the small states, while Hillary wins the big states :)
Patriotmom,
Thanks for the nice words. But I am actually 28 years old. The Democrats have control over the House. But in the Senate, the Democrats have only a slim majority. Nothing ever gets passed because the Republicans keep playing games to prevent legislation from getting passed or play these games to give George W. Bush what he wants. You attack me for giving the Clintons a pass. Bill Clinton never screwed up on the grand level that George W. Bush has. People actually lost their lives in the Iraq war and what happened in Katrina due to the complete and utter incompetence of George W. Bush. Patriotmom, the reasons I hate the Republicans are as follows,
One: These fake Christians try to interfere in people's lives by trying to ban gay marriage, abortion, make flagburning a crime, ex:Terry Schivo. One of the reasons I became an Democrat. Two: Republicans are hypocrites and preach "Do as I say not as I do". Three: They waste more time trying to regulate people's behavior than trying to make an better America. Keep religion out of politics. I could insult you right now. But instead I will take the high road and wish that you get the professional help you so desperately need.
I am a conservative Christian. My values are of those of Mike Huckabee. He best represents me. So, in talking about Bush, I am disappointed.
I am interested in knowing how God will judge the man, but if he truly believes in the Saviour, I will see him in heaven.
I feel like we have entered the age of the Anti-Christ and Bush was put in the seat, to fulfill the prophecy. America may be breeding the Anti-Christ, in the waiting room.
We're moving toward biometrics of identifying individuals. I just read it in the paper and the gov is seeking to identify all individuals.
Here we go 666.
I found these statements in the newspaper.
McCain's "no new taxes" statement marked a turnaround. Last September, he was forced to defend his refusal to sign a no-new tax pledge offered by the conservative Americans for Tax Reform.
Frankly my dear, I dont care what the Republicans say. 7 years of no taxes and tax cuts did not work and did not revive the economy. We need to grow the economy. We need jobs!!!
No more Republicans!!! They have their chances and it dient work. It's time for change!! It's Clinton/Obama time. It didnt work for seven years, why would it work again?
We need jobs, not government paychecks. As Americans, we lvoe our country and we're proud and we want to go to work.
Yes, Bill downsized the army, but Bush didnt have to invade a country. It only takes a bullet to take Saddam down, not $1 trillion dollar. Bush mis-managed the war.
Bottomline, if someone downsized the army, this doesnt give you the right to declare war everywhere and call everyone 'evil'. When Bush did that, Kim Jon Il, popped a mini-nuke faster than we all could blink.
To change the world, you need the heart of Clinton, but the Spirit of Bush. Speak softly and carry a big stick.
If we did it right, we could have a great strong army with a working economy. But, instead, we have a faltering economy where everybody can screw and go to hell and the rich can go to heaven with their millions and billions. We have a faltering foreign policy, where, we shoook a bee's nest and cant run away from it.
The Republicans have no rights to say that the Democrats are weak in foreign affairs when their policies are a disaster. On CNN
McCain is clueless about reviving the economy other than tax cut or no new tax cuts. Whatever the case, we've seeen it for seven years, let's move to the future!!!
With the Clintons, the future will come faster. We'll enter not the internet age anymore, but it'll be something even more better for us, Americans.
I love Obama, but America will go so much farther with the Clintons.
And yes, Hillary voted for the war, but she did not RUN the war. The blame really goes to the one that INITIATED the war and ran the war -Bush
Hey Patriotmom, this is the definition of a patriot by a republican. Party first, country second. Hey I wonder if I could go on to the RNC website and express views in a nasty way, like you do, against the RNC and not be blocked. Probably not, they are true patriots and only allow views that reflect their own.
I must say I am fustrated with the illegal immigration situation. I was just at walmart and watched the illegals pull out their wic cards for free food, for their free babies, they birthed here. Then I watched them get into a car much newer, and nicer, than mine. I have a 2000 ford winstar. I strike up conversations with people all over town, surprisingly most admit to being democrats, and all are fustrated with the illegals working construction jobs under the table, getting free heathcare, education, food, etc., because we have no idea how much money they have tucked under the bed. The schools are full, the jails are full and they aren't paying for anything. They have no respect for us because obviously we are stupid to let them get away with this. Consider this, if a couple from France came to the U.S. for a trip. Say the woman was 7 months pregnant and went into premature labor. Say that baby was born in the U.S. Would that baby automatically be a U.S. Citizen. Hell No. After ending the war the democratic congress must introduce a bill stating that at least one parent of a child born in the U.S. must be an American Citizen in order for that child to be an American Citizen. I went to an Auction the other day, two illegals paid cash for land. They bragged that they had cash. I thought, gee if I didn't have to pay $500 a month for insurance premiums and $1200 a month of Fed. Inc. Tax, SS and Medicare, then I would have $50,000 cash and wouldn't have to pay interest in order to by my land. Also, what is the incentive for these people to sign up to be U.S. citizens, all of the incentives are for them to stay illegal. I am a democrat and the working people have had enough with the DNC not understanding what this is costing their constituants.
Patriotmom,
I give you the fact that Bill Clinton didn't take Bin Laden in custody when he had the chance. But at the time Clinton couldn't hold him constitutionly. We really should have concentrated on getting Bin Laden and Zawahri first. As for New Orleans, I still believe it is Bush's fault. Because he went and deployed Louisiana's National Guard to fight in Bush's war of choice. Thereby leaving the governor shorthanded and not having the necessary supplies they needed to fix the disaster there. Several years later, people in Louisiana can't believe they were forgetten by George W. Bush. The truth is I didn't even know that the President can also deploy the National Guard. Because I thought that only the governor can deploy the National Guard. I often remember an old saying that Harry Truman once had on his desk when he was President. It was "The buck stops here" and as well as it should be in George W. Bush's case. We need to hold Bush and Cheney responsible for the actions. These two have gotten away with so much in the seven years they have ruled this country.
After watching James Carville on Larry King Live, I couldn’t sleep. Here was the pit bull, I thought could always be counted on to go for the Republican jugular, genuflecting to their standard bearer. It was the most disturbing sign that the “mainline” Democrats are gearing up to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again. I am referring to the invertebrate behavior of deference and respect they are all extending to the “character” of John McCain. Whether it be Baracillary or their surrogates, civil exceptions to his policies are always accompanied by homage to him as “a great American.” Well, just hand him the bloody election, why don’t they.
The fact is, John McCain is a dangerous character, and needs to be exposed as such. Leave aside the failure to juxtapose “McCain/Feingold” with the Silverado scandal, just one example of the calculated lamination of an ethical veneer atop a core of sleaze. What should scare us to death about John McCain is precisely his character and temperament.
I recall a conversation with a fellow Democrat during the recount struggle between Gore and Bush. His rather casual take on the outcome was, “It doesn’t really matter, how much damage can he do in four years?” “But,” I protested, “this was a kid who used to stuff firecrackers in the mouths of frogs and blow them up.” Kids will be kids, eh?
Now let’s examine McCain as a kid. Here are accounts that are fully documented:
“Quick to anger, even as a toddler, McCain used to hold his breath until he passed out when thwarted.”
A discipline problem throughout his school experience, he only got into Annapolis because of family connections, where academically he ended up 794 of 799 in the graduating class.
In an interview with Esquire Magazine, McCain referred to his experience as a young Navy pilot, “I enjoyed shooting rockets and dropping bombs and shooting off guns…Nobody in their right mind wouldn’t enjoy that.”
Now fast forward to the current campaign. Here are a few recent statements.
· On Osama Bin Laden: “I will bring him to justice, even if I have to follow him to the gates of hell.” At 72, it won’t be John McCain that’s going to the gates of hell, but our kids.
· On Iraq: “I can see us there one thousand years.” At current rates that’s about a million US casualties and $100 trillion.
· On Iran (sung to the tune of Beach Boys’ Barbara Ann): “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.” And he was laughing while he sang it.
The fact is John McCain has an over-wound spring and a loose screw, and any Democrat that does not recognize this and continues to praise his character should be stripped of their party membership.
Oh my goodness, God, please help us.
My personal point of view, we have had 8 years of Republican domination, it's time to turn over a new leaf.
It's good to have these two parties rotate the office of the Presidency.
Here is Bush's record
Gov of Texas
Sided with the corporations
Left texas in massive @ss debt
Left Texas with mass pollution
In Office
Sided with the corporations
Will leave America with a mass @ss debt
Left Mother Nature, naked and polluted
I am so ashamed he called himself a Christian, but I will see him in heaven. He'll pass the faith test, but in heaven, we are all given roles and titles. He'll probably clean toilet bowls. As for me, washing windows will be fine, as long as my @ss isnt in hell.
And from my point of view, English should be the official language of the land, thereafter, we can all speak a different language.
Companies made a study and the Americans have an advantage over other countries, because their people are exposed to different races and languages.
About illegal immigration? I dont know what to do, other than yes we need to do somethinb, but lately, I heard a 'true' moving story.
This one pastor from our denomination, was driving home, one stormy, rainy night. He heard a voice and it instructed him to keep driving and to pull at a gas station. He did exactly that and obeyed the voice, but he was very troubled, because, it is dark and rainy and he's out in the middle of nowhere with a gallon of milk.
The voice then continued to instruct him to drive up to a hill, to a run-down house. He did exactly that and he walked up to the house, and brought the gallon of milk and knocked on the door.
A mexican lady opened the door and she was crying and told him that she had prayed for someone to bring her crying kids, something to eat. She thanked God and thanked the pastor.
The pastor was in a state of shock. So, about this whole immigration thing, I have the passion and compassion and yet, I am confused over it.
I will pray abou it.
Patriotmom,
Once again, you couldn't be more wrong. My dad is a registered Republican and my mom is an Independent. I honestly thought we could have a honest debate. But I guess I was wrong and concede to the fact that having a honest debate is impossible. I am bowing out of this and concede this victory to you. Congrations Patriotmom.
Darien, I guess you just got tired of the personal attacks. I don't blame you. Isn't it funny how much venom these wacko republicans like patriotmom have. They have had it all for 7 years, super majorities in congress, the executive branch and they are soo angry. Really, that kind of anger probably has more to do with their own personal dissatisfaction with themselves than anything else, they just displace it. But, you probably know that already. Peace
Patriotmom, you know what they say, when you assume you make an ass out of u and me. You are wrong, wrong when you voted for G.W. twice, now your supposedly an independant, what a joke.
