McCain Camp Pushes Back Lobbyist Article with E-Mail Ask from Lobbyist

Define irony:
Last night, the New York Times published an article chronicling John McCain's unethical run-ins over the years, and alleging that he may have aided a telecommunications lobbyist with regulators while chair of the Senate Commerce Committee. Springing into action, the McCain campaign made the article the subject of a fundraising ask under the name of -- here's the kicker -- lobbyist and campaign manager, Rick Davis.

It was interesting hearing the press talk about the Keatting Five today.
Wasn't that the point of the NYT article? McCain has a history of doing favors for those he likes and doesn't care if it's ethical or legal.
For all his talk of campaign finance reform, he's not that much of a straight arrow when it comes to politically helping his friends.
It's the K Street story all over again. He's a serial offender.
Funny how the K Street corruption issue seemed to fall through the cracks with all the other scandalous behavior coming out of Washington. Thank you, Mr. Foley and Senator Craig.
The Republicans see nothing wrong with doing anything they want as long as nobody calls them on it. Then it's the liberal press being unfair.
Lobbyists have way too much influence in the Capitol. It's time that our federal government paid more attention to American workers than the special interests of large campaign donners.
And the Republicans know it, but they just can't get over their obsession...just like McCain.
McCain is a crook. Remember he was reprimanded by the Senate for his role in the S&L scandals.
McCain ... worst than Bush!
more of an observation than a comment. today, all of the conservative talkin' heads attacked the messenger aka ny times as that "liberal media" at it again. lost in the elephant dung being hurled at the ny times was the message that mccain was wrong, not wronged.
Howard Dean stomped all over John McCain today in an interview with the National Journal.
Dean: McCain doesn't seem to really have an ethical compass
This part is just how I feel. He was asked about the affair.
"Dean: I have no idea whether the affair story is true or not, and I don't care. What I do care about is John McCain -- and this has been well-documented -- is talking all the time about being a reformer and a maverick, and in fact, he has taken thousands of dollars from corporations, ridden on their corporate jets, and then turned around and tried to do favors for them and get projects approved. He has tons of lobbyists on his staff. This is a guy who is very close to the lobbyist community, a guy who has been documented again and again by taking contributions and then doing favors for it. This is not a guy who is a reformer. This is a guy who has been in Washington for 25 years and wants to give us four more years of the same, and I don't think we need that."
So, he doesn't sound any different from any other candidate. He's seasoned and credible. Obama's record isn't anything to brag about. His slum lord friend has yet to go on trial--scheduled to start 2/25 I think. Who in Washington is squeaky clean? At least he isn't a Pied Piper using mass psychology, teenagers, and tons of money (where is it coming from?) and gender bias (indicated in the large male vote he gets) to literally buy the presidency. We will not see another female candidate as qualified, intelligent, and capable as Hillary for perhaps decades. You may not like her; she is your best bet. Pelosi will never be qualified. AS for your Kansas governor, the one who responded to the SOTU address, she appears to be brain botoxed. Her face surely is. Why is this party so bent on getting a Black in the Whitehouse? Do you think that rednecks will sit back for that? Obama is so egotistic that he has set aside the safety of his family to be pres. He doesn't want to work for it, to actually earn it, he wants to steal it. What will this party do one of the many rednecks or neoNazis have their say in a violent way? Has no one thought of this? 50 Cent, a popular Black rapper went on Fox TV to say what you seem to be ignoring. He was very explicit. Check it out. Choose O and this long time Demo votes for McCain. He may be old and he may die in office; however, that is a better alternative than a tax and spend super liberal who would leave Iraq a mess and increase our sad nationa debt. Our party is fractured beyond repair. Maybe I'll send a thank you to
the man whose rabid followers now call Obama bin Laden.
so much for mccain being pure from speacial interests. i can care less about his personal life.
so much for mccain being pure from speacial interests. i can care less about his personal life.
It's not about his personal life.
It's about his lobbyist life. The man gets in bed with special interests and instead of feeling guilty about it, he says its OK because these are his friends.
McCain is worse than Bush. Bush smirks and calls them His Base. McCain geehaws that they are "my dear friends."
McCain is the heart of why K Street came into power. And it's why he must be taken down and them with him.
What has been business as usual in Washington must become a thing of the past. We need real change and it won't happen unless all the Republicans are swept out of office and K Street becomes a part of history.

Well, america1st, McCain decided the best defense would be a Strong Offense. BLAME THE NYT!
Let's get the little lady in question under oath and ask a few questions and settle this once and for all!
Not that the sheeple Republicans will CARE, if McCain is found out to be an adulterer, a liar, a lobbyist-lover. They are stupid enough to vote for him anyways.
50 Cent, a popular Black rapper went on Fox TV to say what you seem to be ignoring. He was very explicit. Check it out. Choose O and this long time Demo votes for McCain. He may be old and he may die in office;
and I will bet all 50 Fox News viewers found that very credible!! LOL! A rapper on Fox giving his opinion? Who really pays attention to this b-s ?
Despite his rhetoric against lobbyists and special interests, “virtually every one” of Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) “closest advisers” are “part of the Washington lobbying culture.” McCain’s campaign manager, chief political adviser, and other senior advisers are all current or former lobbyists. Some are still being paid by lobbying firms while working on the campaign.

"Despite his rhetoric against lobbyists and special interests..."
yep. a vote for good ol' john is a vote for status quo in washington aka a 3rd term for bush. gee's with the good payin' jobs being lost in america ... maybe now is a time to become an intern as a lobbiest ... shucks maybe a course at the community college has a 101 course on how to buy a politician. yep, should interview the lady in question under oath. of course, john would go on the attack against the "oath."
