Romney Out
Posted by Michael Link on February 7, 2008 at 12:36 PM
As somebody in the office just noted, it's Romney's last flip-flop. Various news outlets are reporting Mitt Romney will be dropping out of the race.
NY Times earlier today: "Mitt Romney is committed to staying in the Republican presidential race despite his losses on Tuesday...his advisers said Wednesday."
And now: "Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will suspend his bid for the Republican presidential nomination..."

The Mitt Flipper is out! He's another loser.
So, the GOP-PERS are left with McKook and Huckleberry.
And look at this (from the CNNmessage board from a Repub viewer on hearing the news):

I have sick to find this out. I will in no way support Jon McCain! nor will I vote for Huckabee. This was dirty polotics at best. i also feel it is very discouraging to not have a equal voice through out america, that the likes of a few states or early voters (who voted before truly knowing canidates ) have made such a huge discision for us all,
Old Politics you got it..new economy forget it. The only man who could have turned us around is someone in touch with how business works and guess what economy is business.
So regretably i now will ride the obama wave..because there is also NO WAY I want Clinton power back in the white House..think they really care about America Dream on…. They want power plan and simple it's double team….. So get ready for Bush..Clinton..Bush… Clinton and have tissue ready cause there will be a ton of tears!
and here's another one (Repub on CNN message board)!

Really sad. I think we may just lost the GOP's best candidate to go to the White House. I think if it ends up being McCain as the nominee, I may have to vote Democrat. It is depressing to see him run such a great campaign and then eventually have to suspend it.
...and this is the funniest post yet on the CNN message board in response to Romney's quitting:

Thank you Jesus!
And here's another Repub going Obamam as a result (from CNN message board)

This is disappointing to hear!!! I thought he was going to stay in? GOP reap what you sow… I'll never vote McCain or Huckleberry!!
Go Obama!!!
Here's another interesting one from CNN message board:

This will help Obama. Repubs hate McCain, but not as much as they hate Hillary.

OBAMA 08!!!
Mitt: Racism for America's Strength.
If I am not mistaken.....but isn't there a difference between dropping out of the race, and suspending your compaign?
This is my favorite quote. I wonder if they refunded him any money to say this:
"If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.
(emphasis mine)
Is there a reason why my posts don't make it to the blog?

Sometimes it just takes a minute for it to show up.
Margot,
The Flipper made it clear that nobody is going to kick around the only Reagan Republican in the race any longer.
He really seemed genuinely happy that he wasn't going to be the one who had to clean up after Bush. Good for him. Let the two who think Life begins with death in Iraq carry the party banner.
The sacrimonious stuff falling from the lips of these two lately will be like penance for the GOP pundits in the MSM. Tucker will now have to kiss McCain's ring and Matthews will be forced to bow as Huckabee passes by holding high his Book of Creationism.
Too bad for Limbaugh and the rest of the rich bastards in the Republican establishment who took way too much for granted. "The Others" have taken over their party.
Which will go first if McCain/Huckabee is elected? Birth control or the suspension of the military draft? Let's see if the Reagan Democrats are finally ready to abstain.
This is a good thing for Sen. Obama it will bring over alot right wingers that cant stand McCain and Huckabee!!
GO OBAMA!!! '08
Thank God that a candidate that equates his opposing party to "terrorists" is no longer campaigning for President. Is anybody else outraged or at least amazed by this comment?
If he invoked Reagan one more time I was going to lose it.
To answer the question about suspending or dropping out...By suspending his campaign and not dropping out, Romney can hold onto his delegates. At least, that is how I understand to process to work.

when is the party going to respond to all the insults that Rommney thru at us. I found them to be insulting, durogatory and motivating to throw some dirt back. If as a party we do not respond we will look like wimps and all ready to line up to board the train to the concentration camps, wear yellow stars and make some to embaressed to vote in november.I tell you, the first candidate to make a response will get my vote!!!
Let’s not go down this row, lets stick to the truth. How can we accuse the other side for lying when we are not telling the whole truth?
Romney has suspended his race, as of yet he is still in it people can still vote for him he is just not actively running. Potentially he could still win the nominee. So when his people say he is committed to staying in, and then he suspends he technically still “in” the race.
