Good afternoon, all.
Is this pie in the sky thinking or what?
GOP looks to 'McCain Democrats' David Paul Kuhn Thu Mar 27A new analysis of March polling data suggests that John McCain's cross-party support surpasses that of either Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton...
People are coming out in droves to vote for Democratic candidates yet the pollster are analysising this to be a vote for McCain?
They really think Democrats angry with the Republicans would cross over and vote for a third Bush term? Hell, I'd vote for Hillary just because I know it would make Republicans cringe to have Bill in the White House again.

i sincerely hope that barack and hillary both take a shower to remove the sling of mud and muck each has thrown against each other. the main issues, the economymire and iraqmire, are being made 2nd and 3rd on the networks/papers. their dog-cat fight is front and center. and a party divided is good news for the mccain camp who's repub is not up economy 101 and for a 100 year war. but, those two issues will stay off the burner until they both head dean's warning... the demo party base will implode. then we'll be stuck with a repub who doesn't understand economics 101 and will continue the bush 100 yr war. hillary and barack, wake up. mccain doesn't need karl rove's help. you're doing the dirty work for karl. he must be lovin' it!

"We believe Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina play a unique and special role in the nominating process.
And we believe the DNC’s rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role.
Thus, we will be signing the pledge to adhere to the DNC approved nominating calendar."

Regardless of whether or not the statements are correct or not (I pulled it right off the Hillary website) your proved my point. The mud slinging is not just one sided and it does need to stop!

Sandy, I feel sorry for GEN Petraeus. He is not political and, to me, gives the appearance of not wanting to be. He knows he doesn't have enought troops there to quell the violence and secure the country yet he is under orders fromt he White House not to discuss that. I still say it would take upwards of 500K troops to lock down and secure that country however, no amount of security will make the Iraqi government get up off its dead arse and settle their nation's differences. SECDEF Gates and GEN Petraeus have done a much better job than GEN Casey and SECDEF Rumsfeld yet, it is the White House who has mandated troop levels.
That song and dance by President Bush that he is letting the military run the show in Iraq is pure rubbish. Every decision made by the White House concerning Iraq has had political undertones. And every soldier knows that to publicly question his CIC, especially in a time and theater of armed conflict, will usually result in a request for resignation of commission or retirement.
In closing, the fault of the Iraq debacle, beginning to end, belongs to one man, and one man only; President George W. Bush, the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces.

We shouldn’t frame this up as a win-or-lose because, when we do that – and this is where I have a major disagreement with McCain, then on that basis we’ll be there forever.

The new schedule is as follows:* Iowa holds the first-in-the-nation caucus on January 14.
* New Hampshire holds the first-in-the-nation primary on January 22.
* Nevada conducts a caucus between Iowa and New Hampshire on Saturday, January 19.
* South Carolina holds a primary 1 week after the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, January 29The regular window will open for all other states on the first Tuesday in February -- February 5, 2008.
Presidential Candidate Sanctions on the Window
There is a new rule that imposes new sanctions on presidential candidates. If a state, any state, violates the rule on timing/the window, presidential candidates will face sanctions if they campaign in that state. Examples of campaigning include: making personal appearances in the state, hiring campaign workers, and buying advertising and so on.Currently, the only punishment for states that violate the window was on State Parties. This new enforcement provision recognizes that presidential candidates must also bear a responsibility in enforcing the window or face sanctions.
You probably won't find any of this on your favorite candidate's site, nor from Taylor Martian or Jerome Armstrong. Get a clue, then get a life, then get used to the idea that Dr. Dean IS following the rules and all the breath holding and whining you do won't change the FACT that Hillary knew full well what the rules were, (as did FL and MI), chose to break them, knew the punishment, and was given SEVERAL warnings and opportunities to abide by the rules. THEY ALL chose to disenfranchise their own delegates. NOT the DNC.
She "won" ZERO delegates. Give her the ZERO that she deserves and move on with your life.
Hey, I know. At the All-Star break let's change the rules so that the Cubs and ONLY the Cubs get 10 outs per inning! That'll be cool.
(They will still lose most of the games, but then we can change the rules again and have a do-over of all the games they lost, and keep doing it until they are 160 - 1 ((St.Louis HAS to beat them at least once, just for tradition's sake))! It makes perfect Hillary sense to me!)

While Bush Administration Begins To Grasp Failures Of Deregulation, McCain Wants More Of The Same
In a speech this morning(3/26) at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson forced conservatives everywhere to take a long, hard look in the mirror.
As Paulson laid out his prognosis for America’s mortgage crisis and last week’s disaster on Wall Street, he tossed aside the dogmatic, decades-long conservative tradition of promoting market deregulation:
”This latest episode has highlighted that the world has changed as has the role of other nonbank financial institutions and the interconnectedness among all financial institutions,” Paulson said. ”These changes require us all to think more broadly about the regulatory and supervisory framework that is consistent with the promotion and maintenance of financial stability,” he added.
While some conservatives grasp the failures of deregulation, John McCain wants more of it. In McCain’s major housing crisis speech last Tuesday, he continued to highlight an inadequate planto resolve the problems on Wall Street by making this assertion:
“Our financial market approach should include encouraging increased capital in financial institutions by removing regulatory, accounting and tax impediments to raising capital.”
Perhaps McCain’s archaic logic comes from his advisers (as we all know that McCain is no experton the economy). Paul Krugman rightly notes that “his chief economic adviser is former Senator Phil Gramm, a fervent advocate of financial deregulation.” “I’d argue that aside from Alan Greenspan, nobody did as much as Mr. Gramm to make this crisis possible,” Krugman writes.

Thanks Rev, Laughter is a good thing. :-D
For everybody else, Give it a rest for cat's sake!!!
Go out and get a reality check, there are bigger problems out there than some candidate's hurt feelings! MUCH BIGGER PROBLEMS!!!!
Clinton is my very last choice, but if it comes down to her, I will NOT go Republican or any of the loser third parties, for the simple reason that we need a change, and the Democrats are the only game in town which can offer a change.
It's one reason I have been saying and will reiterate as many times as I feel necessary, that the legislative race is what we need to start looking at, and try to get in as many populist senators and congresspeople as possible.
Thankfully the incumbent Republicans are helping by deserting their sinking ship and not running for new terms. Now, we need to put up a sign saying "NO Republicans, Republi-lites, nor Blue Dogs need apply!"
As for the claim that Obama or Clinton supporters will go McCain if their candidates don't win, gimme a break!!! I suspect that it's just Republican propaganda stirring the pot.
Nobody in their right mind is going to go with McBush and watch the economy, the dollar, our standing in the world, and the lives of our kids continue to go even farther down the tubes than things will be at election time.
The ONLY way to get things headed back uphill is to go Democrat. Maybe the rate of improvement won't be as great with one candidate than the other, but it will still be a change in direction from what the Bushiato has us going!
So take a deep breath, go wash your faces in cold water, and clear your minds so you can focus on the important things.

The military went on record with 480,000 in testimony before Congress. Rumsfeld blew a gasket and quickly dismissed the military's projections.
In any case, do we even have the troops necessary to do that? We are stretched thin - to the breaking point. Would this require a draft?
It all seems frighteningly reminiscent of the slow but steady escalation of troop levels witnessed in Vietnam.
A Democratic victory would put an end this speculation/escalation once and for all. But if McCain were to win, his "100 year gaffe" may prove that he wasn't kidding.

The inference in your statement is that I am a grade schooler because I called you a name. It is pretty clear.
Let's get one thing straight.
I never called you a name. If you can find when I did that'd be great. Otherwise quite assuming I did. (That is not to say I haven't called someone a name before, just not you and certainly not today.)
At the end of the day, you're reference to me,school children, and name calling is misplaced and patently false.

He said the resurgent violence would not alter his determination to continue his administration's mission there.
"Any government that presumes to represent the majority of people must confront criminal elements or people who think they can live outside the law. That's what's taking place in Basra and other parts of Iraq," Bush said. "I would say this is a defining moment in the history of a free Iraq."

I would be more than happy to contribute to the DNC, but until you can demonstrate an impartial view of Clinton and Obama, I will not send the DNC a cent.
It is so obvious the media, even the party, with Nancy Pelosi's comment this week, are soft soaping Obama and planning to make him the Party's nominee. The DNC following this plan means, I, as well as many Hillary Clinton supporters, will bolt the party, and very possibly make John McCain the new President. All the demands that Hillary withdraw from the campaign is discouraging. If the DNC would do the honest and honorable thing, they would permit the Michigan and Florida voters have their say, and rightfully award the popular votes and the delegates of these two states to Hillary. Gov. Dean, in one of his more recent speeches said the verdict is up to the voters. It doesn't seem that way. It seems the party regulars are determining just who the nominee will be. If it is not Hillary Clinton, for sure John McCain will be president.

Edwards Donors Prefer Obama to Clinton
John Edwards' former donors broke toward Barack Obama by a 2-to-1 margin over Hillary Rodham Clinton in February, the first full month after Edwards dropped out of the Democratic presidential nomination fight.
The analysis by CQ MoneyLine identified 287 former Edwards contributors who donated to Obama for the first time during his record-breaking $56 million month. Collectively, though, the former Edwards donors amounted to a small fraction of Obama's haul, sending in $200,000. In comparison, Clinton banked $114,000 from 138 Edwards donors who had not given to her in past months as she piled up a personal-best $35 million in February

Children behave and focus on McCain.
Yesterday, while two of the great Democratic Leaders were giving speeches on the broken down economy.
As I watched both speeches on MSNBC, I was severely annoyed when both speeches were cut short to spew negativity towards a fellow democrat.
Both Obama's and Hillary's speeches were cut short so MSNBC could spew more ugliness from the former Rev. Wright. I flipped over to CNN where they were staying focused on the issue of the day, the Economy (The number one issue for voters). I sent MSNBC an email today on how they should have stayed focused on the issue instead of spewing negativity (The topic voters don't really care about.) I boycotted them for the rest of the day, maybe longer. I am just so upset with them right now.
The first words out of one of the commentators was "This issue will just not go away for Obama." I wonder why moronic bimbo!
I think we should all, as democrats, email MSNBC and let them know just how uncool that was.

Sandy, Jonathan Alter was on Olbermann last night talking about this. He says it never works that way. In the past when there were close primaries, similar polls were taken. When the smoke cleared in the generals, there was no evidence that "irate Democrats" crossed the line to vote for a Republican. I think McCain is making it real easy NOT to vote for him as he moved way to the right - he's right in line with Chimpy at this point.

Limbaugh safe from voter-fraud charges Radio host encouraged fans to vote Democratic Friday, March 28, 2008 2:59 AMBy Mark Niquette
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has been telling his audience for days now that he could be indicted for encouraging Ohio Republicans to take a Democratic ballot in the March 4 primary in what he calls "Operation Chaos."
Could that actually happen?
Not likely, Ohio officials say.
"We have no intention of prosecuting Rush Limbaugh because lying through your teeth and being stupid isn't a crime," said Leo Jennings, a spokesman for Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann.
When asked whether she has concerns about what Limbaugh did, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, replied, "I think it's very bad form, but I think most voters are intelligent enough to make their own decisions."
Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" in Ohio, Pennsylvania and other states holding presidential primaries is designed to help presumptive Republican nominee John McCain win the Nov. 4 election.
The idea is to encourage Republicans in those states to vote for Hillary Clinton as a way to prolong the Democratic fight for the nomination with Barack Obama, possibly making it more difficult for Democrats to unite in the fall...
I wonder why the junior senator from NY has failed to distance herself from this? Has she struck a deal with Limbaugh?

Bob,
Sorry I am on a Mac now and I don't know how to copy and paste.
Based on this information, what happened that MI/Fl lost ALL of their delegates. Why not only 50%? That is the same information that I posted before and got slammed about from Scooby Doo. I was really not trying to be difficult, I would like to know if the rules existed, why they were not followed? Does anybody have the answer?? I think this is a good question and I would like to know the answer.

Wow! She's conspiring with Rush is she? Gotta get up pretty early in the morning to get one past you. Looks like the politics of hope has run into the potholes of NOPE.

Listen up, BITCH tou WERE NOT "slammed". You were GIVEN THE FACTS.
Blow it out your ass, whining BITCH. (That IS your tactic, ain't it? To be a stubborn clueless "picked upon" little woman, and then when you get the FACTS you can claim LOOK HE CALLED ME A BITCH!!!!! SEXISM!!!!!
Eat shit and die, liar and cheater. FYI, I VOTED FOR HILLARY in my Primary on 2-5-08. The more YOU act like a BITCH the more I want a recount so I can change MY vote. BITCH.
Facts are FACTS. Bullshit is BULLSHIT. Whinng IS whining.
Grow up, take a chill pill, put down the wine glass and realize that YOU are HER problem. YOUR constant bullshit ("Regardless...") proves that you ARE DIVORCED FROM REALITY.
Go hang out at your one sided sites like Taylor's Martians, Jerome's My HH, and the rest of those KKK sites like "connie" used o C & P from.
If you don't respect the AMERICAN PEOPLE and want to have a "inevitablity succession" move to the 13th Century.
Oh, that's right, you CAN'T, nor can you change the REALITY that HILLARY IS LOSING!

It is time to call the war off. We need a major redirection of foreign policy. The major reason to quit the War on Terror is there are no terrorists. We have a few people hiding somewhere, perhaps Pakistan, who are incredibly ineffective. They can muster half dozen video or audio tapes a year and call that waging war?
Lookit: We lose 50,000 Americans on our roadways every year. Does anyone really fear going out on our roadways. Almost everyone thinks our roadways are safe. Partly because our roadways are already heavily policed. I don’t speed. I don’t think I could get away speeding if I did.
I heard someone say on television recently the major myth with national policy is 9/11 changed the world… (9/11 didn’t change anything. Planes are still flying, nobody is getting killed here, and business is going on as usual. It is understandable we are at war in Middle East; however the time has come to either quit or stop trying. America will not lose face. America will look prudent. Destroying the village to save it has only so much merit.
I signed on to Murtha’s strategy a long time ago and quite frankly I think he may have further policy to eliminate the terrorist network. If there is a network somewhere, it is not very big. What kind of budget do they have? How does their chain of command work? Who and where are their supporters? Are they training more pilots in Florida? Since the New York City attack we have had to remove our shoes in the airports. It works. No more attacks. Since NY we are policing for terrorists. We are quite competent. A car near Seattle sped through a checkpoint at 70 mph and set off a radiation sensor. When pulled over it was discovered the cat in the car had had radiation treatment 3 days previously. Maybe we should turn down the sensitivity of our radiation detectors. Another false alarm or another attempt has been thwarted.
I do admit I am more afraid of a terrorist killing me than I am afraid of being killed in an automotive accident. I have been hit from behind 4 times while driving. Twice I was hit rally hard. I still have no real of driving a car. If I am on the trolley or in an airplane and I see someone in Middle Eastern garb, I worry. This constant propaganda about terrorism has gotten to me. It is crazy. If the United States were an individual and were obsessing over a one time event 5 years ago, they would be in a straight jacket. Someone would be force feeding Uncle Sam meds in a psychiatric unit.
If we surrender to the terrorists, what do we do then? Is there somewhere we should go and turn ourselves in? So now that we have lost this Great War, what are they going to do to us? I’ll let someone else worry about that, I won’t be bothered.
Jimmy Carter installed a strategy against the Soviets when they invaded Afghanistan even a republican could accept. With a little patience and a break in technology the situation resolved itself in our favor. We should seek President Carter’s counsel today.

Scooby,
How low can you go? You don't intimidate me. I couldn't care less what you think about me!
You still have not answered my question! For the record I am not a sore loser and a whiner. I just would like to know why the rules were not followed. MI/FL should have had half of their delegates like the DNC rules said. Why was this messed up? Do you know or are you pulling this stuff out of you butt!
