"The fact that John McCain and Dick Cheney are both in Iraq today is a fitting reminder that McCain marched in lockstep with President Bush as he misled us into war, supported his failed policies and parroted the President's rosy rhetoric as Iraq descended into chaos," said Democratic National Committee Communications Director Karen Finney. "Now, McCain refuses to outline a plan for the future, even as everyone admits that Iraq's leaders have failed to make the political progress the surge was supposed to make possible. Apparently McCain is so happy with the way things are going in Iraq he wants to keep our troops there for another 100 years."
