McCain Made Iraq Blunder Repeatedly

Posted by Michael Link on March 18, 2008 at 03:12 PM

It seems McCain's failure to understand the basics of what's happening on the ground in Iraq isn't a one-time deal. Not only did he keep making the statement repeatedly today, but he was also making the false claim last night.

In other words, he didn't simply mis-speak; he just has very little idea about what's going on in the country. Maybe he should spend a little time learning basic facts about Iraq before claiming that those who disagree with him don't understand war. And maybe it'd make sense for him to find these things out before committing our troops there for the next 100 years.

The audio of McCain making the same statement last night on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show can be found at Think Progress.

So, the old coot is suffering from senile dementia. Go back over some of the things he's said in the past. He has been for a while.
And he's the best one the Republicans could come up with?
At least Reagan didn't show signs of mental deterioration until AFTER he was elected.
The Republicans really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Islamic Extremist = Al Qaeda

Didn't you get that memo? They're all terrorists over there, and they want to take away our freedom, so we need to surrender our freedom so that they can't take it away...

I love that argument, it's like saying you should give ALL of your money away because there are a lot of bad people out there who want to steal it. (never mind the fact that they can never get it all, and the ones who actually try will be brought to justice)

Give me liberty or give me death. A strongly moral country can fight terrorism more effectively because the moral high ground highlights the evil of the terrorist's actions.

Where is our moral high ground? Where is your deeply rooted conviction that torture is contrary to everything this country stands for?

Why can't a man almost universally respected for his patriotism, unwavering conviction, and reputation for speaking honestly regardless of political cost maintain the moral position that the United States DOES NOT TORTURE?

If John McCain can't even stand against torture, I fear for the future of my country.

Just watched a tape of McCain in Jordan making the same stupid claim...with Joe Lieberman having to correct him. Now I know why he always travels with at least two Republican handlers. Somebody has to clean up after him.

Do we really need a president who has to be accompanied by a pooper scooper at all times?
