Why the Big Secret?
Posted by Michael Link on March 13, 2008 at 10:59 AM
The Bush administration is reportedly trying to make sure a Pentagon report finding "no direct connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda" never sees the light of day.
There were plans for a press release on the study. "No more." There were plans to post it online. Now they won't. And the background briefing? Also cancelled.
They're refusing to even email it to people. Instead, they're only sending it "via U.S. mail." Not because there's a national security risk -- obviously, since they're willing to mail it if you jump through the hoops. And not because they think it looks prettier on paper than the electronic version -- because what they're sending via U.S. mail is an electronic copy on a CD.
So why the big secret?

Since they lost all of Cheney's suspect e-mails they are afraid that using the internets is risky business?
Or perhaps they are as afraid of letting the American people know the truth about Iraq as they were of giving that federal judge the evidence that would indict them?

The big secret? Ask our congress! Ask our local representives! Ask this adminastration! The facts fed, swallowed and acted upon will become lies when they see the light of day. This is again one of the many reasons Washington is in need of change from the top down. I can not excuse the ones I have asked to act on my behalf when they do a job less effective than my 13 year old when it comes to questioning the realities. Looking for the details. Beleive all that is told to them. The media is no longer an effective tool to the public in these matters. Open and tranparent goverment is a thing dreams are made of. A responsibility of us all to demand. The big secret is we are repeating history, only to be surprised when it turns up the same results! Shame on me for allowing this to occur to me again.

Chimpy and Shooter know they lied ... so they are hiding the truth. But, isn't it scary that there are any people left that still don't think Bush lied.

Sandy,
Y'know, since the NSA has kept on with its Total Awareness program, even though it wasn't supposed to, guess who's got a copy of those emails that were supposedly "lost". Nothing on the Internet is gone forever. Those emails are still in existence somewhere. The easiest thing for the court to do is demand that the NSA hand 'em over.
Oh, it'll be a fight, alright, but wouldn't it be delicious to see BushCo and the neoKKKons hoist on their own petards. They forget that the sword they use cuts both ways.
