ECONOMIC CONSERVATISM REPUBLICANS OR DEMOCRATS?
Read the numbers and YOU decide for your family’s future
McCain: “Obama wants to raise taxes, I will cut taxes”
(actually Obama and Clinton want to return the tax rate for the super rich back to what they paid in the 90’s, when they all continued to thrive, and cut the taxes further for the middle class, who have gone economically backwords since the 2000)
REAL NUMBERS FOR TRUE CONSERVATIVES (define conservative)
Republicans---:Proof your party was hijacked. Question: When exactly did this hijack occure?
Did the democrat party, pick up your ball?
From Clinton Supporter----Clinton specialty = turning jobs, debt, the economy from bad to good. If you still think the democratic party stands for “big government” like you have been told---check out the figures that don’t spin. If you still think that cutting the taxes for the rich, and trickle down economics has worked, like you have been told, ---check out reality.
For your children’s future, if you are going to have trouble voting for Barack Obama, at least vote for a Democrat-----

Job Creation
Jimmy Carter, 1977-1980: 10.5 million new jobs
Bill Clinton, 1993-1996: 11.6 million new jobs
Bill Clinton, 1997-2000: 12.4 million new jobs
Total: 33.6 million jobs created over 12 years, or 2.8 million jobs per year
Ronald Reagan 1981-1984: 5.2 million new jobs
Ronald Reagan 1985-1988: 10.8 million new jobs
George H.W. Bush 1989-1992: 2.6 million new jobs
George W. Bush 2001-2004: 0.2 million fewer jobs
George W. Bush 2005-2007: 5.5 million new jobs
Total: 24 million jobs created over 19 years, or 1.3 million jobs per year
Government Spending
How much did the government spend for every dollar of revenue?
Jimmy Carter, 1977-1980: $ 1.16
Bill Clinton, 1993-1996: $1.25
Bill Clinton, 1997-2000: $1.01
Democratic Average: $1.16
Ronald Reagan 1981-1984: $1.31
Ronald Reagan 1985-1988: $1.38
George H.W. Bush 1989-1992: $1.34
George W. Bush 2001-2004: $1.27
George W. Bush 2005-2007: $1.24
Republican Average: $1.29
The difference between $1.16 and $1.29 may not seem like a lot, but the impact on the national debt is huge, especially when you consider that $1.29 applies to 19 years, and the budgets under this president are so much larger.
Increases in Government Debt
Growth In Debt Held By the Public [$US trillions]
Jimmy Carter, 1977-1980: 0.2
Bill Clinton, 1993-1996: 0.7
Bill Clinton, 1997-2000: -0.3
Democratic Total: 0.6
Ronald Reagan 1981-1984: 0.6
Ronald Reagan 1985-1988: 0.7
George H.W. Bush 1989-1992: 0.9
George W. Bush 2001-2004: 0.9
George W. Bush 2005-2007: 1.1
Republican Total: 4.3
The financial markets only pay attention to the amount of debt held by the public. This is the number that helps drive down the value of the dollar and makes bankers nervous about inflation down the road.
Growth of Debt Held By "Government Accounts" [$US trillions]
Jimmy Carter, 1977-1980: 0.00
Bill Clinton, 1993-1996: 0.4
Bill Clinton, 1997-2000: 0.8
Democratic Total: 1.3
Ronald Reagan 1981-1984: 0.1
Ronald Reagan 1985-1988: 0.3
George H.W. Bush 1989-1992: 0.5
George W. Bush 2001-2004: 0.8
George W. Bush 2005-2007: 1.4
Republican Total: 3.0
Debt held in government accounts is very much a misnomer. Debt, in the real world, is a fixed obligation to make a payment on a specific date. Not so for debt held in government accounts, according to this White House.

Yes, it is. Kinda. Comments for this and all previous posts are fixed, at least. Future posts -- remains to be seen.
So great. Sort of.
Good afternoon, all.
I come home this afternoon, turn on the TV, and there is Hillary at a press conference saying, "If we were operating with the Republican rules for the primaries, I would have won a long time ago."
If she didn't like the Democratic rules, why did she sign off on them? Nobody made her do it. She could have insisted on different ones since she was the front runner going into this.
You can't complain about rules after you are losing, when you didn't raise the question at the beginning of the race.
You expect children to act this way, but grown ups don't keep on trying to change the rules and constantly complain when they can't win unless everyone gives them what the want.
It doesn't matter is the Republicans come up with some trumped up story about Obama's veteran grandfather being an ax murder, she's still doesn't have the delegates.
She's just proving to Independents that she can't handle the truth or play by the rules. I'm afraid that she's just too high maintenance for the Democratic Party any loner. Perhaps she and Bubba should go the way of Zell and Lieberman.
That, of course, is assuming that the Republicans would welcome them. Seems to me they just like to manipulate renegade Democrats.
Gotta run. later.
1) Florida and Michigan should be encouraged to boycott the General Election. No Democratic party candidate on the state ballot in November in either states. Voters will be encourage to vote third party, or Republican.
What a great idea! This is the best idea I have encountered on this blog. We can do better than just boycott up here in Michigan. We can burn effigies, we can burn flags, we can wear John McStupid masks, we can do a write in campaign for Mitt Romney...we can point the finger and blame....who can we blame? We can blame Iran. That's what we can do. It's Irans influence in our primary elections and the fear that they may drop a nuke on us in Detroit.
Boycott?? We don't just do boycotts up here, we burn shit down. We riot, we invented maltov cocktails.
Sonsabitches....disenfranchise my ass. I don't think so...
Hey, if I boycott can I still vote for Obama. I really want to vote. If I am identified as a boycotter because I want to protest, does that mean I can't vote??

You have a job that no one wants. I can't imagine what it is like for you to have nitwits criticize what you do and be attacked for it.
Log in under another name and give em some shit..
What?? You already do that??!! What is it...Dan555 ??
Thanks Dude. :)
anybody listen to NPR today, and General Sanchez interview? He just wrote a book about what a disaster Bush made, invading Iraq! He finally resigned, after he had lost 800+ dead boys under him and 7000 injured ones. He was appalled that the Geneva Convention was thrown out the window, despite all the military telling bush Not to. It was a great, truthful interview of what REALLY happened !
This is an older piece on him:
Former Top General in Iraq Faults Bush Administration
WASHINGTON, Oct. 12— In a sweeping indictment of the four-year effort in Iraq, the former top American commander called the Bush administration’s handling of the war incompetent and warned that the United States was “living a nightmare with no end in sight.”
In one of his first major public speeches since leaving the Army in late 2006, retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez blamed the administration for a “catastrophically flawed, unrealistically optimistic war plan” and denounced the current “surge” strategy as a “desperate” move that will not achieve long-term stability.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/12/washington/12cnd-general.html?ex=1349841600&en=85ccf3d5966b8d2b&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss
so for those who still think this occupation and surge are going well, think again! I will take this LT General with integrity word over Petreus any day! He said when he found his comments and views were not paid any attention to, and he had to follow orders he did not believe in, he quit. that is what Petreus should do, but he is too busy licking Bush's boots to do that!
I have read comments on this blog like, "I'm a true democrat," but not voting for Obama, and "pray for forgiveness" of those who know better.
Let's say it together,
"I will vote democrat in November"
If you don't then you can not call yourself a true democrat, and you are in danger of doing another great injustice to this great country by continuing 4 more years of a failed policy.
That being said, Hillary Clinton as well as Bill, are true champions of the democratic party. Their continued service, fighting for all people, are greatly appreciated. Hillary fought this battle for president with furious vigor. She has proven her toughness, and the lengths she will go to fight for every american. She continues to have the respect and admiration of all Democrats.
Right now the democratic party needs two things to increase its chances to crush the failed republican policies.
The Democratic Pary needs:
1. To seat both Florida and Michigan Delegates, and,
2. Unite against all of the republican challengers.
Only one person right now has the power to do both: Hillary Clinton.
If Hillary suspends her campaign, but contues to campaign for democratic values and for democratic candidates further down the ticket. She will set off many catapults, all good for the democratic party and even her own political future.
This will:
1. Allow the delegates from FL & MI to be seated.
2. Unite the Democratic Party.
3. Enhance the campaigns of the coattails.
Why now?
1. There is no ligitimate end game where she will win the nomination.
2. There is only 1 state left to vote that has a good recent history of voting Democrat.
3. There is no new information for the super delegates to gain to base their decision.
It is clear! Barack Obama will be the Democratic Nominee for POTUS.
Democrats Unite Now!!!!!
"If we were operating with the Republican rules for the primaries, I would have won a long time ago."
Well, there you go. Want Republican Rules...run as a republican.
And quite frankly, you should have. Look at what kind of a turd won their primary. You could have smoked his ass.
Lifes a bitch Hill. At Indy, they limit the cars to a maximum horsepower. It's another one of those stupid ass rules. There are owners of race cars that say it all the time..."I could win that race if they would let me race my car with more horsepower....I would win the race in half the time!"
G'damn rules anyways.
They won't let Olympic athletes take steroids. We could see runners do sub-.9's in the 100 meter dash. Some runners have done it jacked up on roid's...Those runners have bitched too.."I could win an Olympic Gold Medal if I could take roid's"
Efffin Rules.
What a shame that the rules and playing by the rules decides so many contests.
I have many questions for Hillary supporters who want to vote with McCain.
I would like to start with the fact that McCain said women don't desearve equal pay until they get more education.
How about this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLQGWpRVA7o
Books will be written, and your grand/daughter is going to look at you in amazement as you tell her "i didn't know"
Bush and McCain's tax lie: The average American will see an increase of $1087 if Bush's tax cuts are allowed to expire.
The truth: McCain was against the Bush tax cuts, saying "I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us, at the expense of middle class Americans who most need tax relief." (Looks like McCain doesn't have a good consicence after all)
The truth: If Bush's tax cuts expire/are repealed, demand-driven economics will be allowed to return, and with that, the strong economy of the 1990's. Trickle down theory does not work! It has never worked! Even Bush Sr called it "voodoo economics."
The truth: Technically, Bill Gates and a homeless man have an average of $20 billion. It all depends on how you use the word average, and because it is so misleading, many mathematicians use median (the actual middle number in a set of numbers) or mode (the most frequently occuring number in a set of numbers).
The median income divides households in the US evenly in the middle with half of all household earning more than the median income and half of all households earning less than the median household income. In 2004 the median household income in the United States was $43,389. According to the US Census Bureau, the median is "considerably lower than the average, and provides a more accurate representation." The mean income is usually more affected by the relatively unequal distribution of income which tilts towards the top. As a result, the mean tends to be higher than the median income, with the top earning households boosting it. Overall, the mean household income in the United States, according to the US Census Bureau 2004 Economic Survey, was $60,528, or $17,210 (39.73%) higher than the median household income.
We don't want averages! We want the truth!

I can't agree with you on seat FL and MI. Rules were broken and there are consequences. If FL and MI are seated, it would send the message that Dems don't care about enforcing rules and are easily pushed over. Nope, that's not an image I'm willing to accept. Maybe FL and MI will realize that it's not the DNC, but their own state leaders that caused this mess. Maybe FL and MI will vote in some people that can actually look out for the interests of their constituencies instead of going along with Republicans.

Unwavering commitment to the re-enfranchisement of my peice of the american dream. I am fixed, like the proverbial stink on dog crap..to the goal of participating in a process that ensures that my vote counts...in every state that I have a false ID for.
However....I will boycott until I have a signed and sworn statement from Iran (the Mullahs) that A) they will refrain from interferring in our state primaries and that B) A "No Nuke" policy for the greater metropolitan area of Detroit. We like our current "bomb site" curbside appeal and would like to maintain it.
Why is the campaign continuing? Take your pick of reasons.
Is it her "campaign bubble"? May 31 meeting? Or about a pending racism lawsuit against the DNC?
Fl and MI should be seated and they will be seated. The rules committee, the Chairman and each states' party leaders are working on how that will occur. We may not know for sure until June 10th. Nevertheless, we will know and they will be in Denver. The party will unite, join arms and elect the next President, a Democrat!!

Dave, what, you mean Iran hasn't already nuked Detroit?! It certainly looks bombed out every time I drive into the inner city to visit the families I work with. I had been reassured that it wasn't Katrina that caused that disaster, so I just assumed it was the Iranians!!
I, personally, am ok with the current situation of the Michigan delegates. I didn't yell and scream at my Democratic leaders when I learned of their ridiculous scheme about the primary schedule. And I voted for those idiots. We can't do a re-primary at this point, and using the results from the stupid first primary would cause me to protest, rally, and boycott voting for any more STATE Democratic leaders that made that idiotic decision. I will vote for Obama in November, though.
just my opinion.
I call the lovely curb-side look of Detroit "house vomiting". I like to watch Animal Cops Detroit just to see if I can identify the neighborhood by the particular variety of house vomit I see. It's an acquired specialty.
I agree with Margot 100%. The Republicans are the ones who are the games players. They have to be. That's the only way they can win. If they were up front about their views and their philosophy they wouldn't be able to win any elections.
Still, we have a lot of good people in Michigan and Florida and William and Hillary Clinton, despite the Republican smears, are good people too. We may not have to bring the Party together since McCain was also badly smeared by the Bush/Rove gang that he'll be unable to recover, but we should bring the Party together behind Obama. Obama and Clinton should start working together now.

Once a nominee is chosen, then we can seat all the delegates. The punishment is that they had no say in the nomination process.
There is no scenario that works out where FL and MI could possibly override Obama as the nominee, specifically because they broke the DNC rules.
During the Convention, like always, all the delegates will be awarded to the nominee to show unity. So both FL and MI need to be seated, but the nominee is Obama. Which is exactly why it is important for Hillary to suspend her campaign. FL and MI can not be seated until we have a nominee.
Maybe FL and MI will vote in some people that can actually look out for the interests of their constituencies instead of going along with Republicans.

exactly right, margot. I have no sympathy. I watch a couple of Centrist Dems from FL, in Bill Nelson and Debbie Wasserman-shulz, and I want to kick their asses as they try and blame DNC for what THEY could have fixed through another method than what the Repugs did.
Posted by MIKaren on May 7, 2008 at 03:55 PM
Precisely. Anyone in the state of Michigan that has not suffered a closed head injury knows that our very own Great Lakes State Democratic Party are the ones responsible.
They tried to be clever. They tried to be relevant and I suppose there would be something to the theory that they were manipulated by a Republican house and Senate in Lansing.
I for one, am very pissed about that. But, I am not disappointed in the national Democratic Party and have been thoroughly entertained with the mother of all primaries.
The upside to all this racial, gender divisive rhetorical hate speech filled campaign is this.
We, my fine friends and tin-hatted, asshat comrades have dominated the MSN and the news cycles. Think about it. The Republican Party has had to resort to animal sex scandals in order to get any coverage. The answer to the daily question of "Where is John McDickwad today?" is, "Who Cares!"
So, frustrated or not...it is a good thing. We are not really being divided. Anybody who says that they aren't going to vote for the other guy or girl is playin' with themselves.
They should be so lucky. They don't have to deal with Iran dicking around with their primaries or the threat of a nuclear holocost taking our their cable TV.
I however do...

You have obviously never heard of "Abandoned Chic"...
There are some tremendous opportunites for individuals that are handy with explosives renovation experience or the ability to operate a Cat D6 dozer, in some of our tonier neighborhoods. A few "Diamonds in the Hood", so to speak.
my, my how convenient for the slimy, lying bastards !!! Wonder what they had to hide, if they think this was all on the up and up !!!
Bush Iraq Emails Not Recoverable
By Matt Renner
A late-night court filing by the White House on Monday revealed that official administration emails about the run up to the invasion of Iraq and the initial occupation may never be recovered.
amen, brudda Dave. Most of my fellow Democrat friends here feel exactly the same. It is very annoying that others believe that we're a bunch of whiners here in Michigan, when it actually appears that the whiners aren't from here, or are the very Democratic leaders in this state who decided forgo the rules in the first place. Sometimes in life, there are consequences for stupidity, and what kind of accountability can we expect from our fine citizens if our so-called leaders insist on do-overs when they don't get their way?!!
Anyway, gotta go put food on my children.
Good afternoon fellow Democrats.

I hear that a company of demolition folks in Detroit have invited the Dirty Jobs (Discovery Channel) to come and see how to take out an abandoned, burned out house. I think it might help America see the beauty of fine, local government at work! ;)
Ok, really gone.

The DNC must not waiver on FL and MI. If they stick to the punishment as set, no states will try to play these games again. If they waiver, we will go through this every four years.
I know there are good people in FL and MI, but they need better state representatives, plain and simple. Maybe this is the wake up call they needed...
(AFP) Clerics have told President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to stick to more worldly issues after he was quoted as saying the "hidden imam" of Shiite Islam was directing Iran. Ahmadinejad has always been a devotee of the Mahdi, the twelfth imam of Shiite Islam, who Shiites believe disappeared more than a thousand years ago and who will return one day to usher in a new era of peace and harmony. But in a speech to theology students broadcast by state television on Monday, Ahmadinejad went further than ever before in emphasising his belief that the Mahdi is playing a critical role in Iran's day-to-day politics.
"The Imam Mahdi is in charge of the world and we see his hand directing all the affairs of the country," he said in the speech, which appears to date from last month but has only now been broadcast.
"We must solve Iran's internal problems as quickly as possible. Time is lacking. A movement has started for us to occupy ourselves with our global responsibilities, which are arriving with great speed."
Two leading clerics retorted that Ahmadinejad would be better off concentrating on Iran's social problems -- most notably its double-digit inflation -- than indulging in such mystical rhetoric.
"If Ahmadinejad wants to say that the hidden imam is supporting the decisions of the government, it is not true," sniped Gholam Reza Mesbahi Moghadam, the spokesman of the conservative Association of Combatant Clerics.
"For sure, the hidden imam does not approve of inflation of 20 percent, the high cost of living and numerous other errors," he said, according to the Kargozaran daily.
Ali Asghari, a member of the conservative Hezbollah faction in parliament, told the president not to link the management of the country to the imam.
"Ahmadinejad would do better to worry about social problems like inflation ... and other terrestrial affairs," Etemad Melli daily quoted him as saying.
Since becoming president in 2005, Ahmadinejad has repeatedly stated that his government is paving the way for the return of the Mahdi and chided his foes for not believing that his return is imminent.

So our President is attempting to expedite the return of Jesus Christ and Iran's President is attempting to expedite the return of the twelfth Imam. Great, just great. I believe the last time our two cultures clashed like this was the Crusades. Ain't that something to look forward to with twenty-first century technology.

The Geek Squad has scrubbed the hard drives. They must be real good.
Take a couple of clerks in the WH to Gitmo and make them have sex whilst guarded by dogs and some eager marines....Bet you could find out who scrubbed em and when.
And if you did there are laws specifically addressing willful destruction of government property and records.
Bet the International Court and Tribunal would have been interested in a lot of that information too.
Pond Scum...that's all this administration and president has proved to be.

BEIJING (AP) - China announced Wednesday new rules that require health care providers to report all cases of a viral illness that has killed 28 children and sickened thousands in outbreaks across the country.
There have been 15,799 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease this year, the official Xinhua News Agency said, cropping up in areas ranging from the tropical island province of Hainan in the south to Jilin province in the northeast and Yunnan province in the southwest. The number and scope of cases in recent years, along with the need for increased surveillance, prompted the Health Ministry to enforce the new reporting rules, spokesman Mao Qun'an said.
"This demonstrates our commitment to people's health," Mao said at a rare news conference held jointly with the World Health Organization.
Under the mandate which took effect Tuesday, health care providers need to report cases to the ministry within 24 hours.
The outbreaks are the latest headache for authorities as they gear up for the Beijing Olympics. Preparations have already been upset by unrest in Tibet and protests during the global torch run.
Mao insisted there would not be any impact on the games, which begin Aug. 8. Already embassies and foreign schools have sent out notices urging vigilance against the illness.
Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common childhood illness that spreads through contact with saliva, feces, fluid secreted from blisters or mucus from the nose and throat. There is no vaccine or specific treatment, but most children typically recover quickly. It is unrelated to the foot and mouth disease that affects livestock...

OK, eeeewwww! This ought to give all of those fine tourists for the Summer Games something to look forward to especaally considering the bangup job Chinese officials did with the SARS outbreak of 2003 which had us running out to buy duct tape and plastic sheeting. Heckuva job, Mr. Chairman, heckuva job...

Like the times my daughter bends the rules and lets her daughter get away with something she has been told No on. Of COURSE the next time she thinks she will get away with it again.
I am ticked off thinking of the 48 States that get no respect from the act, if DNC bends and gives in.
Afternoon all good Dems!

Well, on a good note, at least the return of the Imam would bring peace and harmony. Apparently, the return of Jesus is supposed to bring War, Famine, Pestilence and Death.
I guess we're actually closer than I thought, considering Bush has pretty much got the war and famine wrapped up...

I don't think I have met a person that has felt disenfranchised or has a hard on for the DNC. I am normal and allowed to circulate amongst the general population.
Most Michiganders are only looking forward to the general election. When it was announced that our participation in the primary was not going to count, a whole bunch of people stayed home.
The economic news in Michigan is not good. In fact, it's downright shithouse. Job losses, plant closings, home foreclosure are at the top of the list. Michiganders are going to vote with their pocket book. They are going to vote for a vision and a plan to bring back some normalcy in their lives. We are pretty simple people. Well I'm not..I'm very complex but therapy and med's have helped with that.
They won't be inspired to vote based on spin and more of the same. People are scared up here. Paying the bills and keeping a roof over your head are priorities.
There have been lots of candidates but only one seems to have a message of hope and inspiration.
When you are unemployed, on your ass and down and out...hope is all you have left.

BYE :( Pistons on tonight and I gotta get home.
Pam, I left you (Mich. Dave and everyone that I mistakenly referred to as moderate) an apology on last night's thread. Just a complete brain fart.
That aside I have a totally stupid question for you or anyone else who knows the answer. I have always campaigned for those whose districts, states, etc. where I lived. I have never actively campaigned for someone outside of where I live. Are there any specific rules governing this? Do I have to register or apply or anything? I want to work for someone, and I think my House Rep. is a Repuke who is running unopposed so I want to work for a Democrat - any Democrat running for national office.

I just noticed that line in the article you posted. I thought it was such a contrast to the image of the apocolypse that it was worth mentioning. It doesn't change the way I feel about separation of church and state, but I suppose I'd take the peace and harmony over the hell on earth scenario.

Someone from TN should be running against Sen. Alexander (R-TN) this time around as he is up for re-election. That's a good place to start, IMHO. If I'm not mistaken, all you have to do is to contact the campaign and ask for a volunteer job. I'm sure any Democratic campaign would love to have you. I'm volunteering for former Gov. Warner's (D-VA) bid to take Sen. John Warner's (R-VA) seat as Sen. Warner is retiring at the end of this term.

So, let me get this straight...then I really gotta go..
Bush, after talking to God and I assume Jesus too...invades and occupies Iraq, disposing close to 2 million people and killing a couple of hundred thousand. The country is leveled, there is no electricity and we are still blowing shit up.
Iran and Armendinejad (try spelling that without looking it up) is talking to the 12th Iman (who is also dead and supposed to return, apparently with Jesus) hasn't invaded or occupied anything, with the exception of screwing with the Michigan Primary Election.
Is that right?
Ok, so talking to God gets you war, violence, torture, death, blood, guts, and costs a shitload of money.
But talking to the 12th Iman gets on efffed' up primary?
Does the 12th Iman speak english when he talks to you or does he have a Irania accent?
Does God use small words and speak with a Texan accent when he talks to Dumbya?
Does the 12th know what a nuke is?
If he does, do you think he'll tell someone to use it in Detroit?
Go Pistons!
From another thread here. Karl Rove and the Trolls are liars! Bush IS the Worst President in History!!!
Get Your Facts Right, Karl Rove»
During today’s Washington Post online chat, Karl Rove chastised a questioner who brought up his infamous prediction that Bush’s poll numbers would rebound:
Columbus, Ohio: You boldy predicted that Bush’s approval ratings would rebound — instead he is, according to Gallup, the most unpopular presdient [sic] in history. Will you finally admit that your vision for this nation has been overwhelmingly rejected by the majority of the people?
Karl Rove: Get your facts right — there are at least three president who had worse approval ratings, Truman, Johnson and Nixon. I’m absolutely positive history will be kind to this president, who made the right decisions in a difficult time for this nation.
Rove needs to get his facts straight. The questioner is right. While Bush’s approval rating is not the lowest in history (but still near the bottom), his disapproval rating is actually the worst. According to the recent Gallup poll referenced by the questioner, Bush is indeed the most unpopular president in history — beating Truman, Johnson, and Nixon:

see it with your own eyes!!!
I just stopped by Sen. Clinton's website, just to see how things are, and it won't let me past the contribute page. Every time I try, I get hit with another smiling Hillary asking me for five bucks. Is anyone else having this problem?

You are correct that Sen. Alexander is running for re-election; however, much as I hate to say it, he is practically a living legend here in Tennessee. So much so that he may as well be running as unopposed. What's the old joke about 'getting caught in bed with a dead woman or a live boy?' He could probably survive both and win. I hope that he retires after this term and then maybe we will have a fighting chance!
(Yup, I'm a trekker, too)

Outstanding, I'm not alone. I compare the general election pitting Obama, as Tuvok, for trekkers or the more popular, a black Spock, for non-trekkers against Mr. Magoo.
Obama, like Tuvok or Spock (our vulcan hero's), is logical, intelligent, and has literally performed a vulcan mind meld with the issues facing America. He just needs a little pointer ears to make it a perfect fit.
Whereas, McCain, is like Mr. Magoo, wandering aimlessly around the country uttering incoherant babble and mistaking policies that have failed with what America needs.
Pam, you probably already know this but kkkarl was a Watergate conspirator. He wasn't indicted as such because by the time his role was known to the investigators and prosceutors, they were after much bigger fish! I would vote for anyone who promissed to bring that SOB to trial for treason!
Well, break's over. Gotta' get back to work. It's great to be so busy! bbl - maybe.
Does God use small words and speak with a Texan accent when he talks to Dumbya?

I certainly hope not! That would be serious trouble!
Maybe Cheney turns the hall light on, and then opens the door to W's bedroom (so that all W sees is a shadow) and talks in a real deep voice: "George. This is Dick, er, God. You must do exactly as I say. [Insert vile Bush policy here]."
Idaho student says teacher tossed his Mexican flag in trashTWIN FALLS, Idaho - A high school student says he may file a lawsuit against a physical education teacher who took a Mexican flag he had brought for Cinco de Mayo and put it in the garbage.
Clint Straatman denies Froylan Camelo's version of events but said he took the flag Monday because "white kids" might have hurt the 16-year-old. He said he put it in a garbage can because he had no place else to keep it.Camelo said he was changing into gym clothes at Minico High School in Rupert when Straatman told him, "Give me the flag."
"I said, 'What's the problem?'" Camelo, speaking in Spanish, told The Times-News of Twin Falls. "He said, 'The problem is that we are in the United States and not in Mexico.' He grabbed it from me. He threw the flag in the garbage can."
Camelo said that Straatman told him the flag would be returned at the end of the school day, but that Straatman taunted him instead.
"I asked, 'Where is my flag?'" Camelo said. "He said, 'What, the U.S. flag?' I said, 'No, the one for Mexico.' But he wouldn't give it to me."
Camelo said he then took the undamaged flag out of the garbage. He said he's been contacted by the American Civil Liberties Union and is considering a lawsuit against Straatman.

Sorry, Blue, looks like some redneck brought your state some bad publicity.
Good evening, all.
Boycott?? We don't just do boycotts up here, we burn shit down. We riot, we invented maltov cocktails.

Dave,
Have you been listening to those Rev. Wright tapes again?
Actually, you sound like you could teach the Aryian Nation or Weathermen Underground a thing or two. Power to the people, Bro. You seriously need to redirect some of that energy into voter registration.

just below the Hillary banner is a "skip and go to Hillary's website" - click that and it will get you in.
Hillary should suspend her campaign now before the Democratic party implodes. She is simply prolonging her agony and doing a great disservice to her own suporters by asking them to donate to a lost cause.
As for Florida and Michigan, the party should never change the rules.

That's a interesting perspective...holding your elected DLC politicians to a higher standard?
What would happen if Democratic voters around the country finally held the DLC responsible for their stupidity in compromising with harmful Republican policies just so they could get re-elected?
It's time to root out those politicians that fight only for themselves...not for the American worker. Enough with making promises they never intend to deliver on and offering bribes that would just put us deeper in the hole.
It's time to perform like real Democrats instead of just talking like them. Do it or get out of the way and let true Democrats reclaim Washington.
I firmly believe that Americans have been looking for the Democratic Party four eight years now and the DLC has done everything it could to keep them from finding it.
Free Democractic voters.

LOL. I've seriously considered this too. I think Cheney and Rove get Bush drunk, maybe give him some mushrooms like on "That's My Bush," and talk to him in a deep voice with the light out... "George, this is God. I need you to keep the war going so we can have the Second Coming of Christ. You may be remembered as the worst President in history, but you can do what no other President has done... bring Christ back, and replace the Constitution with the Bible. You're a good man, Georgie Bush. Greed in good. War is the way to peace. Jesus loves you. I love you too, W."
In the Morning, W says to Laura, "I spoke with God last night." Laura replies, "was that before or after you spoke with Jack Daniels, Karl, and Dick?" "Oh, you mean my prayer group with Pat Robertson? I think it was after."
I think SNL needs to do a skit on this.
