Kicking Ass: The Democratic Party's Blog

GOP Getting Nervous

Posted by Michael Link on May 7, 2008 at 10:14 AM

"Election Disaster?"

Shellshocked House Republicans got warnings from leaders past and present Tuesday: Your party’s message isn’t good enough to prevent disaster in November, and neither is the NRCC’s money.

The double shot of bad news had one veteran Republican House member worrying aloud that the party’s electoral woes — brought into sharp focus by Woody Jenkins’ loss to Don Cazayoux in Louisiana on Saturday — have the House Republican Conference splitting apart in “everybody for himself” mode.

“There is an attitude that, ‘I better watch out for myself, because nobody else is going to do it,’” the member said. “There are all these different factions out there, everyone is sniping at each other, and we have no real plan. We have a lot of people fighting to be the captain of the lifeboat instead of everybody pulling together.”

Republicans have lost recent special elections in very "red" areas that previously we haven't even been competitive in. There's another special election coming, too, in Mississippi. The White House has reportedly sent out their greatest hope to save the day... Dick Cheney.

And with that, members of the GOP leadership are starting to worry about keeping their jobs.

Yay! it works now!
I just wanted to make a snide remark, that if Cheney is their "greatest hope", the Republicans really are in serious trouble. At this point I doubt if Cheney could lead a gang of vampires to a blood bank.

This is where the repubs attitude of every person for themselves comes back to bite them.In other words you get what you give!

Agreed. Republicans have deadlocked Congress and polluted Bills in the public's interest to such an extent that few voters trust them. There's a bright difference between speaking one's mind to defend a point of view, and deplorably callous behavior.

Can't think of a single ...

Okay, you almost got me. Instead of Dick "Vice President" Cheney, they should seek out and beg forgiveness from John "My Friend" McCain. Let John weed out bad republicans. I Like the sound of that.

I can't help but laugh. Republicans are hoping that Dick "Deadeye" Cheney is going to save them. Yeah right. I guess they can add getting help from a war criminal and an potential traitor to this country to their list of woes. This is like the movie Titantic where the ship hits an iceberg and sinks taking nearly everyone with it to the bottom of the ocean. I can see that mental image coming to mind.

Maybe we should(Democrats) be especially careful not to lose sight of the gold. We could lose everything we have gained if we get too high and mighty.

I hope everyone agrees and stops takes inventory of our attitude.

oneforall,

I suppose you are right. I just got carried away in the moment that's all. We need to win back the White House and have more seats in Congress. So that we can clean up the mess the Bush regime made.
