- How the media covered it five years ago.
- And I'm curious... does anybody know what ended up happening to the actual banner? Is it sitting in a closet somewhere?

Dearest Democrats,
REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
SHORT FOOD AS GENOCIDE WEAPON!!
For those of you who did not believe there is a strategic food shortage orchestrated by Cheney and Bush, here are some facts and links!!
Henry Kissinger, US National Security Council, completed a 200 page study on Dec 10, 1974,”National Security Study Memorandum 200: Implication of Worldwide Population Growth for US Security and Overseas Interest.” Cheney was part of the Ford administration that implemented this plan. CIA director at the time was George Bush was ordered to assist Brent Scowcroft, as were secretaries of state, treasury, defense and agriculture.
“NSSM 200 similarly concluded that the United States was threatened by population growth in the former colonial sector. It paid special attention to 13 "key countries" in which the United States had a "special political and strategic interest": India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. It claimed that population growth in those states was especially worrisome, since it would quickly increase their relative political, economic, and military strength.”

It kills me when conservatives say that liberals want us to lose in Iraq.
My question to them...what exactly are we losing compared to the 49 brave men and women who died for this country in April? What are we losing compared to the thousands who have died in brave service to our country?
Do you have a friend or family member in the military?
I do.
I could not look in his face and tell him I thought it would be worthy for him to die in Iraq.
Next time you see a soldier, ask yourself if you would sacrifice them to complete your undefined "mission" in Iraq.
Put a face on the number and then you realize that strategic withdrawl is the greatest victory we can attain.
Realize that every man and woman who doesn't die to an unjust war is a victory in itself.
Posted by JKAR on May 1, 2008 at 02:21 PM
Bring the troops home now. Let the Iraqi's settle their own business between their various factions however they will. If Iran wants to exert influence in Iraq, they can pay for the cost of rebuilding Iraq, not us. End the loss of our military's lives, end the depletion of our military resources,....GET THE HELL OUT OF IRAQ NOW!!

Michael, maybe the "Mission Accomplished" banner will be paraded down Penn Ave when Chimpy finally exits?
Then it will go into his "Lie-bary" and Bierstube. After all, Ford has the stairway from the roof of the Saigon Embassy in his.

The DC Madam commotted suicide? Don't think so.
From Pam's House Blend:
During several recent appearances on The Alex Jones Show, Palfrey also said that she was at risk of being killed and that authorities would make it look like suicide. She made it clear that she was not suicidal and if she was found dead it would be murder.
Palfrey had threatened to release the names of well-known clients of her upscale call girl ring in the nation's capitol, and had indicated that Dick Cheney may be one of them.
"No I'm not planning to commit suicide," Palfrey told The Alex Jones Show on her last appearance, "I'm planning on going into court and defending myself vigorously and exposing the government," she said

much help to us. They believe that man walked with the dinosaurs. In the words of Lewis Black - they watch the Flintstones as a documentary.

Best thing to do in that case is make sure her little book is published far and wide. Funny how "inconvenient" people get dead around Republics. The Bush family body count is astounding on its own -- way too make deaths to be coincidence. Murder is absolutely not beyond the republic/bushmafia.

To Just a Guy: regarding your post at 3:08 on the previous thread. I am not a particular supporter of either candidate! Just because I do not believe that Sen. Obama walks on water, that makes me a Sen. Clinton supporter? And do not accuse me of purposely misunderstanding you, because that is as close as I came in my post to criticizing either candidate! I support both candidates equally! I was originally a supporter of Sen. Biden and later Sen. Edwards. Since neither are still candidates, I have simply decided to support whomever the party nominates. I come here with nothing but calls for unity and you accuse me of trying to divide the party? Please re-read my post!
I am proud to be a Democrat and I shall vote a straight Dem. ticket come November. Further, I shall campaign for Democrats who are running for congress in my district as well as the Presidency. At Butte said, it's not just the White House that we need. We need supermajorities in both houses of congress before we can begin to reverse the damage wrought by this administration. Further, we need to hold both the White House and the super majorities for a minimum of 30 years to completely right the course of this country. We can not hope to do that without UNITY!

Blue: before we worry about the ignorant 28%, we need to worry about unity within our own party. Otherwise, the 28% - blind and stupid but unified - will win, again. I can't take four more years, I just can't.
Also, regarding the discussion we were having yesterday. Have you ever considered that what someone does when they are not looking for votes or monetary reward speaks volumes about who they are. If someone, anyone gives themselves in service to this country, freely - without expecting votes or money in return, can you honestly say that their service is worthless and the experience gained deserves zero consideration? Just food for thought.

This is a corrected Summary of the article we posted and e-mailed yesterday. Our original article incorrectly stated that McCain’s plan would no longer allow employers to deduct the cost of health plans for workers. McCain spokesman Brian Rogers says that is “not part of the plan.”
McCain's $5,000 Promise
May 1, 2008
His new ad only tells half the story of what his health proposal could mean for U.S. workers.
Summary
McCain says in a new TV ad: "Let's give every American family a $5,000 refundable tax credit" to buy health insurance.
Sounds good. But McCain failed to mention how existing employer-sponsored health benefits would be affected.
• Workers would be taxed on the value of any employer-paid health benefits, partially offsetting the $5,000 credit for those now covered by such plans.
• Experts say a tax credit plan like this would likely cause companies to reduce or eliminate health benefits for their employees.
The aim of the McCain plan is to reduce health care costs through increased competition, by encouraging individuals to shop around for health insurance and medical care. There are many who favor such an approach, and we take no position on it one way or the other. But McCain's simplistic ad misleads viewers by promising to give "every American family" a $5,000 benefit while failing to mention what he would also take away.

Absolutely. And as I see it, a person that does not need to answer to a voting populace has the freedom to work without question and without scrutiny. One that can accomplish the same while answering to a constituency, IMO, has far better real world elected office experience. I guess I would agree with you if the presidency was a volunteer position.

Posted by BlueinIdaho on May 1, 2008 at 04:16 PM
Here's the thing. I agree with you that experience gained while serving a constituency is more important than that gained otherwise; but, I do not deem unworthy of consideration experience gained when working outside of public office. I'll give you one really good example, I admire and respect the labor organizing work done by Sen. Obama, prior to his elected public service, just as I know that you do.

mclame's health plan sucks. What about people who don't have employer health coverage. I heard today that a large number of the recent homeless are people who have lost their jobs and because of recent health problems have lost their homes.
We must have single payer health care. I will not settle for anything less.
His plan does not take away the profit motive. I understand that 33% of the cost of health care is profit. This is unacceptable.

If the word gets out to people what his plan would effectively do to health care in this country, his candidacy would take a major hit. His plan is the same plan Bush floated a year or so ago---he really is Bush's third term. Employers would jump at the opportunity to stop offering healthcare, it is simply too expensive for most of them to provide and still obtain a good profit.

my thought has been right along, that if the government put in a type of Universal plan, that employers would then be able to stop their group coverage, so they should instead, pay to the government a monthly fee based on number of employees. It would probably be less than they are now paying, yet would be a big help towards the cost of a Government plan.
McCain's is a joke. Wonder how many gullible, easily swayed people will buy into it?

CEO salaries are entirely out of control. It is obscene.
Twenty years ago we had large food processing plant in Modesto, California that went into bankruptcy and had to fire all the employees.
The top execs voted themselves each a $12 million bonus as part of the bankruptcy procedings. They said that it was part of the plant shutdown and was to pay for their services during the shutdown process.
Needless to say, the union exploded and told the judge "NO WAY" and the judge shot it down.

It's because they are bossy authoritarians who imagine themselves as perfect. Also, ALL Pugs act as if they are above the law because they were wired to feel superior to everybody else even when it is clearly obvious that they are not.
Now we have several generations who have grown up seeing that Pugs can breakt the law at will with no risk of punishment, and so their sense of entitlement kicks in.

Lord help us if the employers had to pay the government directly and rely on the government to administer these plans. The FEHP and Medicare programs have worked for many years using established insurance administrators. An extension of that program, IMO, is a more efficient method for providing health insurance to everyone.

I had a retiree on our company medical plan, who thought the premiums were getting too high on our retiree plan.
So, he decided to look into the VA, of which he was eligible.
WELL, let me tell you that the list of drugs they would allow was about a total of 10! And you went to their facility and used whatever dr. wanted to see you!
It gave him a new appreciation for our plan, along with a sour taste in his mouth on how the USA government treated Veterans once they no longer needed them!

I got this in my email (and post on the blog) last night. I was hoping to 'run into' Michican Dave. If anyone happens to see him, please let him know that I left this post for him!
I just want to thank all of you for your educational emails over the past year.
Thanks to you, I no longer open a public bathroom door without using a paper towel.
I can't use the remote in a hotel room because I don't know what the last person was doing while flipping through the adult movie channels.
I can't sit do wn on the hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed.
I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pass-time while driving alone is picking your nose. ( Although cell phone usage may be taking the number one spot )
Eating a Little Debbie sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of trans fats I have consumed over the years.
I can't touch any woman's purse for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public bathroom. Yuck !
I must send my special thanks to whoever sent me the one about poop in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that ne eds sealing.
Also, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.
I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl ( Penny Brown ) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.
I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program..
I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's novena has granted my every wish.
I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.
I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.
Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an email to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.
Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.
I no longer can buy gasoline without taking someone along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm pumping gas.
I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr. Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put
' Under God ' on their cans.
I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.
And thanks for letting me know I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face...disfiguring me for life.
I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS.
I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.
I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise.
I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army.
I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore and Uzbekistan.
I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe.
Thanks to you, I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my butt.
And thanks to your great advice, I can't ever pick up $5.00dropped in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.
I can no longer drive my car because I can't buy gas from certain gas companies !
If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 PM this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician...
Have a wonderful day....
Oh, by the way.....

The irresponsibility here is on the media, who wish to blow out of proportion those issues which will inevitably divide Americans, by focusing on the behavior of Barack Obama’s former Pastor, while ignoring other transgressions by the pastors of Presidential candidates, even though Hillary Clinton’s former Pastor has actually been convicted of a crime.
We hear about Rev. Wright’s racism 24/7, but there's nary a peep about Clinton's former pastor
who's been convicted for sexual child abuse.
Is It Hillary's Turn to 'Denounce and Reject' a Problematic Pastor?

Witness Says Hastert Linked to Alleged Plot
By Bob Secter and Jeff Coen
The Chicago Tribune
Tuesday 29 April 2008
House speaker would have picked Fitzgerald's replacement, defendant's ex-associate claims.
The name of former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert was added Monday to the roster of political heavyweights linked by witnesses to an alleged plan to dump Chicago's top federal prosecutor and kill a criminal investigation into a top fundraiser for Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
A witness at the corruption trial of Blagojevich insider Antoin "Tony" Rezko testified that Rezko told him in February 2005 about an effort under way to fire U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald and replace him with someone more compliant to be hand-picked by Hastert, then the top Republican in the House.

It totally s**ks when you can't even go to church and listen to a sermon - whether you agree or disagree - where someone expresses a radical opinion! If it had not been for radical opinions being expressed we would still be British Colony! (And to all of those trolls who will jump on this - no I am not comparing Rev. Wright to our founding fathers! I'm just saying that this country was built upon radical opinions and that is why we have freedom of speech in the first ammendment!)

Only 33% currently say this, compared with 42% in March… The April poll also finds a decline in perceptions that Clinton is honest, with only 37% describing her in those terms, down from 44% in March. I can not, I will not vote for Sen. Clinton because what she calls tough, most people call nasty.
I can not, I will not vote for Sen. Clinton because she voted FOR the Iraq war.
I can not, I will not vote for Sen. Clinton because she believes that SHE is more important than the party.
I can not, I will not vote for Sen. Clinton, because she divides more people than unites.
I can not, I will not vote for Sen. Clinton because she believes that Washington needs to change just a "little".
I can not, I will not vote for Sen. Clinton because she is a phony.
If the DNC hands this nomination to Sen. Clinton and she does not have more total delegates, I will not vote.
This is from someone who has voted in EVERY election since I was 18 years old.
I am saddened and heart broken to think that this even a possibility.
I will not vote for someone who has stolen an election. I just won't.

So, you want four more years of this administration? Is that it?

this is what irks me! The DNC is telling super delegates to make up their minds, but THEY HAVE NO CONTROL NOR POWER OVER THIS !!!
Stop with the DNC blame game!

Look at the banner up at the top of the page. It says the Democratic Party. That means that this site is in support of Democrats, all Democrats. Slamming the opposing candidate with stupid lies in no way helps your cause! You sound like a stupid fool or a Thug troll. Either way, please take your attacks on a Democrat elsewhere.

I agree with those who say that we need to vote a Democrat into office this election; those who would dismiss, chastise or attack others for expressing that desire are wrong.
But it is one thing to believe in your message and another to try to compel people to share it. Persuade, yes. Compel, no. Republicans insist on lockstep unity. I am glad that Democrats are willing to patiently hear and politely debate opposing views.
My patience, however, ends where Harpo, et al, begins. If someone comes here expressing a preference for one Democrat over another, even is they are trashing the unfavored one, I feel they are within their rights. If someone comes here trashing all Democrats, they are open targets, in my opinion. Go get 'um!
