New Record Highs

The price of a barrel of oil isn't the only thing that's at record high prices:

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline climbed to $4.086, according to a daily survey by motorist group AAA. That was up 0.7 cent from $4.079 the previous day, and eclipsed the previous mark of $4.08 set June 16.

Gas prices have risen 2.9% in the last month and are almost 38% higher than where they were a year ago.
[...]
Last week, AAA reported that it expects the number of Americans traveling during the Fourth of July holiday travel period to decline 1.3% to 40.45 million drivers versus 41 million last year.

Yet John McCain seems more outraged over being asked a tough question from a voter about high gas prices than the cost itself.

There isn't enough money to spend if we went someplace nor is there enough money to get us there.

Actually, that's sort of where our economy is right now....stalled and bankrupt. Not to mention totally screwed in Iraq.

Can anyone say the word "stagflation"..with a lot of wild speculation, bank fraud, and irresponsible GOP spending/welfare for the rich for eight long years... thrown in for good measure?

sandyh,

the (no)thanks goes to w and cronies. they decided to falsify to make iraqmire and not happy, want an iranmire. all of us have heard some news reports that mentioned w (& cheney) would prefer an attack w/isreal on iran before novemeber. in our area, gas is $4.51. doin' my part, drivin' less & walkin' more. now, unless the demos in congress can keep w at bay, we'll all pay.
