John McCain

With Advisors Like These...

There's a good article in the Houston Chronicle today about McCain's economic advisor (and general campaign co-chairman) Phil Gramm. If you're wondering who is responsible for the mortgage crisis, Gramm would be one person you'd want to start with.

You should read the entire thing, but here's a sample:

Gramm's coterie of critics say his actions as a Texas senator contributed to today's mortgage meltdown and energy price speculation that has driven up oil prices. [...] Democrats also say that Gramm's post-Senate lobbying activities conflict with McCain's promise to steer clear of lobbyists in his presidential campaign.

We've also got a website on McCainpedia dedicated not only to Phil Gramm, but also to his other economic advisors -- Carly Fiorina and Doug Holtz-Eakin. There's a ton of information about all three of them there. As McCain admitted repeatedly, he doesn't really understand the economy, so these knowing who advises him on those matters becomes even more crucial.

Even the new Saudi king would like a chance to flog Phil Graham and his wife, Betty...if he could get Bin Lauden on their trail.

Has there ever been a more corrupt and dishonest handling of a modern capitalist economy? They used words like "trickle down" when they were using activities like "no bid".

Carly Fiorina is suppose to be the Republicans model of a new economic future....and she had to be fired because of the hatchet job she did to Hewlert Packard.

If Ken Lay hadn't died, you can bet he would have been pardoned by now by Bush and serving as a key member of the McCain team.

Let's not forget Tom DeLay and Newt Gingrich. These worms were in on the GOP scam from the beginning. I'm hoping Bob Barr goes after them with a vengence this fall.

Somebody on the Right has to do it. They must purge the poison from within or no true social or fiscal conservative will every give them a second look in the coming decades.

Thank goodness we have a young, honest, and idealistic base who is holding up hight the torch which has been passed down from one generation to the next since Jefferson. The higher the better...so all voters can see what we believe in and what we will work to restore.

Phil Gramm... he's one of the main reasons America is in this fix. America is the largest debtor nation in the world. Somebody tell Phil that Reaganism has failed. Deregulation... that's Republican-speak for wreck the industry while stealing from Americans.

THIS IS A GREAT ARTICLE!!!!

Mentally Ill Republicans

by Jon Faulkner

It’s not difficult to make the case that conservative republicans suffer from a form of mental illness. Americans have watched them embrace family values and discover ethics, while stealing an election and contriving the circumstances for starting wars. They have worked tirelessly to undermine the American Constitution while frantically waving the flag. They firmly believe in the privatization of government and consistently ignore the inconvenient history of the American taxpayer bailout of one failed/scandalized corporation after the next......
