Attention all republicans, American companies in China, India, Canada, and other countries are still American Companies, they still pay American Taxes. They left the US because they don't want to pay you, they want cheap labor. In China they pay workers $1.50 an hour. If you want to compete with a communist country, plan on making $1.50 and hour. Free markets depend on equal playing fields. In order to even up those playing fields we must have better trade agreements and penalize companines that leave the US, in the form of higher taxes. We must create incentives for companies to stay in the US. We must have a strong Consumer Product Safety commission to test goods that come from other countries so we are not poisened from within. Bush cut the Consumer Product Safety Commissions budget. The republicans could care less if you are safe from harmful products, ie lead. If you sell a home built prior to 1978 you must disclose that their could be lead based paint in that home. The US had laws to protect Americans from lead poisening. Now after republican rule pediatricians are having to test babies and children for lead poisening. Lead has been found in products from china from clothes, baby bottles, bibs, toys. Wake up you are not safe.

No speech from Charles Rangel at Democratic convention in Denver
By CELESTE KATZ
DAILY NEWS POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT

Friday, August 15th 2008, 4:00 AM

It doesn't look like House Ways and Means Committee Chairman - and longtime Hillary Clinton backer - Charlie Rangel is scoring a big speaking role at the Democratic National Convention.

Intermediaries for the influential Manhattan Democrat spoke with representatives of Barack Obama's campaign - which is driving the convention schedule - and were unable to secure Rangel a speaking slot, sources told the News.

"We have a wealth of talent within our party and very limited speaking roles," said convention spokeswoman Natalie Wyeth when asked if Rangel would have a moment in the Denver limelight.

A Rangel spokesman declined comment

======================================

The reason why is Rangel will stand up there and say he is going to raise everyones taxes,.

U.S. States Lead the World in High Corporate Taxesby Scott A. Hodge

Fiscal Fact No. 119

America's political leadership is finally waking up to the fact that the tax rates businesses face in the U.S. are way out of step with our major economic competitors. Last year, for example, Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel proposed cutting the federal corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 30.5 percent. While a 5 percentage point cut in the federal corporate tax rate may sound significant, it may not be sufficient to meaningfully improve the competitiveness of the United States.

Currently, the average combined federal and state corporate tax rate in the U.S. is 39.3 percent, second among OECD countries to Japan's combined rate of 39.5 percent.1 Lowering the federal rate to 30.5 percent would only lower the U.S.'s ranking to fifth highest among industrialized countries

So you see, if what Cactass states is correct, that China's rate is equal to the US rate. They do not go to china for lower taxes, they go for cheap labor.

Let's get real here about taxes, someone has to pay them. During other wars the US sold war bonds to help fund the war, this republican admin. has put it on a credit card with china. Who is to pay for the war, of which one dime has not been paid. The war costs are done in supplements and have never been included in the budget. So when bush decieved republicans by saying he would balance the budget, that budget didn't include the invasion of iraq.

We have illegals here that drain the hospitals, schools, roads, jails. I saw a special where we the people paid for a brand new building in Arizona and fund employees, vehicles, gas, insurance and repairs to take illegals back across the border when caught. They catch this illegal, he's got 300 cash in his pocket, they give the money back to him and we all pay for a ride back. What is up with this. The republicans and the democrats are both at fault for not protecting our borders. Remember when bush called those guy vigilantees when those patriots volunteered their time to go down to the border and protect it.

The republicans want cheep illegal labor, the dems think they will get their votes - I want them to pay taxes. Where in the hell and who is paying to keep this country up. The rich have tax breaks, the illegals don't pay and the middle class has lost 2 million jobs. Where in the hell is the money supposed to come from to pay off our deficit and run this country.

McClellan to Obama: Don't investigate us

Scott McClellan advises Obama, in an interview with my colleague Daniel Libit, not to investigate the Bush administration — because it would, McClellan says, damage Obama's image. (Not that former Bushies have anything at stake in that choice.)

That's a sleeper of an issue that, if Obama's elected, could blow up into a major one in unexpected ways, as some foreign governments suggest they'd arrest top Bush administration officials on torture charges.

What an ass! Some right wing tool is slamming Senator Chuck Hagel for his stance on the Little Prince's Big Fiasco in Eye-Rack. Ger this quote from the toad brain:

Now, again, with Sen. Hagel — my problem with Sen. Hagel is, again, his experienced is based on what? The Mekong Delta. It’s based to Vietnam, a totally different fight, a totally different enemy, and by the way, it was 30 years ago.

He also said "....but show me what battle he fought in Iraq. A man’s war..."

A few things with this chowder head. If Iraq ia "a man's war" does that make Vietnam a "woman's war"? Did he just imply that those 58,000 names on the Wall in D.C. are because they were the "girliest of the girlymen"? So what does that make McSame?

Also, since he is dismissing Senator Hagel's opinion because he ONLY servewd in Nam (and earned a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge) what does that say about Grampy Grumpy and his qualifications to be President?

Haliburton just moved it's offices to Dubia, you know the United Arab Emerites. You know the very Emerites that Bush and Cheney wanted to sell our American Ports to. Thank god the democrats stopped them. Remember how Bush said he would veto it, and then public pressure became too great and it was defeated by democrates, the true patriots. Bush is constantly hugging and kissing on the Arab Prince. The republicans are in bed with the Arabs. Bin Laden is from Saudi Arabia, that's why Bush has protected him. Come on we are the United States, you telling me our military can't find this guy. When will republicans wake up to the fact that it is them and their leaders Oil connections that start these wars.

It wasn't that long ago that Inocencia Coto was about the most predictable voter in America. In 2000 she and thousands of other Cuban Americans turned out in overwhelming numbers around Miami to help George W. Bush win the White House. Now 75, Coto is still sashaying to Celia Cruz CDs at the Goodlet Adult Community Center in Hialeah, a Cuban-exile enclave adjoining Miami that votes almost 90% Republican in national elections. But Coto says she's voting for a Democrat this fall. Her new hero is Raul Martinez, who is challenging eight-term incumbent Lincoln Diaz-Balart in the race for U.S. Representative from Florida's 21st Congressional District. Many of her friends say the same thing. "The cost of living, the war, health insurance--too many things are getting out of hand," says Coto, fixing a yellow flower in her hair as Martinez tours the center. "It's time for un cambio--a change."

Florida might finally get it right

Global Warming Skeptics Prominently Featured At International Scientific Meeting

Right-Side News

A major international scientific conference prominently featured the voices and views of scientists skeptical of man-made global warming fears. The International Geological Congress, dubbed the geologists’ equivalent of the Olympic Games, was held in Oslo, Norway, from August 4-14.

The conference was criticized by the activists at RealClimate.org (who apparently are threatened by any challenges to their version of ‘consensus’ on global warming science) for being too balanced and allowing skeptical scientists to have a forum. RealClimate’s Rasmus E. Benestad lamented on August 19 that the actual scientific debate during the conference “seemed to be a step backwards towards confusion rather than a progress towards resolution.”

During the Geologic conference, Indian geologist Dr. Arun D. Ahluwalia of the Center of Advanced Study in Geology at Punjab University and a visiting scholar of the Geology Department at University of Cincinnati, openly ridiculed former Vice President Al Gore and the UN IPCC’s coveted Nobel Peace Prize. [An online video of an August 8, 2008, conference climate change panel has been posted and is a must-see video for anyone desiring healthy scientific debate. See: here ]

“I am really amazed that the Nobel Peace Prize has been given on scientifically incorrect conclusions by people who are not geologists,” Ahluwalia, a fellow of the Geological Society of India, said during a question and answer panel discussion. [Ahluwalia’s remarks can be viewed beginning at 22:14 of the online video] - [ Ahluwalia’s full bio here]

Ahluwalia, who has authored numerous scientific studies in the fields of geology and paleontology, referred to the UN climate panel as the “elite IPCC.” “The IPCC has actually become a closed circuit; it doesn’t listen to others. It doesn’t have open minds.” [See other critiques of IPCC here: UN IPCC ‘a purely political body posing as a scientific institution’ - & here: Report Debunks So-Called ‘Consensus’ On Global Warming]

Ahluwalia, a board member of the UN-supported International Year of the Planet also criticized the promoters of man-made global warming fears for “drawing out exaggerated conclusions” and took the UN to task for failing to allow dissenting voices. “When I put forward my points in the morning, some IPCC official got up to say that what I was [saying was] nonsense.’ See, when we have that sort of attitude, that sort of dogma against a scientific observation that would not actually end up in very, very positive debate.

Panel participants at the August 8 debate included skeptical Physicist Dr. Henrik Svensmark of the Danish National Space Centre and Paleoclimate scientist Dr. Bob Carter of Australia’s James Cook University, former chairman of the earth science panel of the Australian Research Council, who has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and is an outspoken dissenter of Gore and the UN IPCC’s climate claims. Prominent scientist Professor Dr. Nils-Axel Morner, a leading world authority on sea levels and coastal erosion who headed the Department of Paleogeophysics & Geodynamics at Stockholm University, was also on hand during the panel’s question and answer session.

Another scientist stood up to a key question about the recent global cooling trend. “We know temperature goes up and down, we know there is tremendous amount of natural variations, but for how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand—we politicians and scientists-- that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?” the scientist asked to applause from the audience.

Obama's Long Lost Brother Lives In Kenyan Slum Hut

We already know about Barack Obama's older brother Malik Abongo "Roy" Obama, who is a Luo activist and a militant Muslim. Malik argues that the black man must "liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture."

We also know about Barack's Muslim brother Bernard the son of Kezia Obama who married Barack Obama Sr. in Kenya in 1957 when she was a teenager (16) before he went to the US where he fathered Barack. Bernard was born after Barack Sr. came back to Africa.

The British media was able to track down Barack's brother Mark Ndesandjo the son of Barack Obama’s late father and his third wife, an American woman named Ruth Nidesand. Mark ran an illegal firm in China.

Now, the Italian press discovered Barack Obama's younger brother George in a slum hut in Nairobi.

Obama's younger brother George was discovered in Kenya living in a hut.
He says last year during elections 6 people were hacked to death in his neighborhood.
The Telegraph reported:

The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate's half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.

"No-one knows who I am," he told the magazine, before claiming: "I live here on less than a dollar a month."

According to Italy's Vanity Fair his two metre by three metre shack is decorated with football posters of the Italian football giants AC Milan and Inter, as well as a calendar showing exotic beaches of the world.

Vanity Fair also noted that he had a front page newspaper picture of his famous brother - born of the same father as him, Barack Hussein Obama, but to a different mother, named only as Jael.

He told the magazine: "I live like a recluse, no-one knows I exist."

Embarrassed by his penury, he said that he does not does not mention his famous half-brother in conversation.

"If anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed," he said.

You would think Barack could spare a couple bucks to lift his brother out of this horrid place considering Goerge's "rent" is only $1 a month.

Baby Busted!! No Doubt About It- That Baby Belongs To John Edwards!

The National Enquirer released new photos today of John Edwards, his mistress and his love child, Francis Quinn.
Here's the latest on the scandal from America's news leader:

The day prior to Edwards bombshell admission to an affair on ABC’s Nightline, Rielle Hunter and her 6 month old daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, were flown out of the US onboard a chartered Learjet.

The private flight cost $50,000 and was paid for by Edwards’ pals. The Hunters were the solo passengers aboard the eight-hour flight.

Destination: St. Croix in the Virgin Islands!

THE ENQUIRER tracked Rielle to St. Croix where our reporters discovered Rielle and the baby stayed in a luxurious oceanfront home owned by controversial trial lawyer Lee Rohn, another close friend of Edwards.

When visited by an ENQUIRER reporter on August 15, Rohn snapped a terse “No comment!” when questioned about Hunter.

Former Virgin Island Senator Anne Golden confirmed to THE ENQUIRER that “within 24 hours of their arrival that they were here and staying with Lee Rohn.”

After the ENQUIRER discovered Rielle’s hideaway with Rohn, she was moved to a motel on the island before returning to Santa Barbara on August 17 according to another source.

An ENQUIRER reporter then saw Rielle back in her California home, which is being paid for by Edwards’ former finance chairman Fred Baron.

And Rielle now has an off-duty police officer guarding her house.

Edwards is not only aware of the hush money payoffs but orchestrated it with his team of former campaign advisors and now The ENQUIRER has discovered that a team of six more lawyers have been involved in the coverup and are funneling payments to Hunter, who has no money and no means of support.

The ENQUIRER has also learned that Hunter's own lawyer advised her to allow Edwards to take a paternity test but she refused out of misguided belief that Edwards will marry her after the death of his cancer-stricken wife Elizabeth.

McCain = Draft:

"When you take into account his indefinite military commitment to Iraq, his desire to send more troops to Afghanistan, record lows in recruiting and retention, and possibly more wars he is looking to get into, like "Bomb Bomb Bomb" Iran, his numbers don't add up without a draft. Whether America likes it or not isn't relevant - a draft is the only way to do everything Senator McCain wants to do. I give him points for being honest and upfront, though, that we're going to need a draft if he is elected."
I think a better solution would be to engage in fewer--and only necessary--wars. The professional military can handle that just fine.

Posted by newsjunkie on August 20, 2008 at 04:44 PM China's rate is equal to the US rate.

Corporate tax is a tax on profit. Exactly what constitutes taxable profits varies from country to country so a comparison is not trivial.

And the rates are progressive - in the U.S. they vary from 15% to 35% depending on the amount of taxable profit.

In the United States taxable profit is calculated under a different set of rules (stat) than those used for preparing financial statements (GAAP). U.S. statutory rules have offsets for capital expenditures (depreciation) among other things.

Corporate income taxes (different than S corporations or proprietorships) affect shareholders directly and employees a bit more indirectly.

I think a better solution would be to engage in fewer--and only necessary--wars. The professional military can handle that just fine.

Now Barbi, You don't think invading Iraq for their oil was necessary????? You don't think invading Vietnam, 53,000 dead US troops, and leaving with our tails between our legs was not called for? Now strutting and threatening Iran we are going to blow them off the earth is just what the Viagra Reublicans need! Starting the Cold War with possible Nuclear War with Russia is what McCain is having wet dreams over !

Republicans have to have their wars.

Ps, how do you think companies like Defense contractors, Halliburton, etc would become Billionairs with Republicans wars?

Despite our desire to learn from the past, we Americans seem almost determined to repeat mistakes already made. I personally believe that overconfidence is to blame, you know that belief which causes a nation to rush to war against the advice of military leaders and past presidents? At any rate, with the Iraq war scheduled to end in a near stalemate and work underway to ensure that the Cold War is renewed, it is time for us to all wake up.

Though America is great, it is not invincible. If nothing else, the attacks of September 11, 2001 taught us this. That day a simple militant organization, without the assistance of a serious military power, was able to deal us not one but two serious blows. And this occurred in spite of the fact that the attack was expected. It was the first test of George Bush's approach to Middle Eastern terrorism, and it was a failure.

The response to those attacks came next, when we were promised Osama bin Laden. Since then, our response has taken many forms. We have gone after Iraq, North Korea, Iran, and now Russia. We have yet to capture Osama bin Laden or to neutralize the force responsible for the attacks of 9/11.

Now, it's understandable that other issues are addressed, that we do not remain entirely focused upon one and one alone, but not without placing our focus primarily on the most pressing matter of the day. For this administration, that most pressing matter was Osama bin Laden, the man responsible for terrorizing America in ways we could never have imagined before.

no matter where you look bush and his good buddy mcsame have nothing to show for their years in office but failure, incompetence and mendacity:

WASHINGTON — Consumers should brace for the biggest increase in food prices in nearly 20 years in 2008 and even more pain next year due to surging meat and produce prices, the Agriculture Department said Wednesday.

NEW YORK — Mortgage applications fell last week despite a drop in interest rates, the Mortgage Bankers Association said Wednesday.

The fall in application volume is the latest sign of a struggling housing market. On Tuesday, a Commerce Department report showed construction of homes and apartments fell in July to the lowest level in more than 17 years.

And while fewer new homes are being built, fewer customers are also refinancing existing mortgages. A sharp drop in refinance volume in recent weeks has been the leading driver of declining application volume.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is missing as many as 225 days of e-mail dating back to 2003 and there is little if any likelihood a recovery effort will be completed by the time the Bush administration leaves office, according to an internal White House draft document obtained by the Associated Press.

Good evening, all.

Here is Condi's latest Polish joke:

Rice dismissed blustery comments from Russian leaders who say Warsaw's hosting of 10 U.S. interceptor missiles just 115 miles from Russia's westernmost frontier opens the country up to attack.

Such comments "border on the bizarre frankly," Rice said, speaking to reporters traveling with her in Warsaw.

"When you threaten Poland, you perhaps forget that it is not 1988," Rice said. "It's 2008 and the United States has a ... firm treaty guarantee to defend Poland's territory as if it was the territory of the United States. So it's probably not wise to throw these threats around."

www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D92M5GM81&show_article=1

The United States has a....what? A joke of a Secretary of State.

Let's exaimine this a little more closely. She was the one who told the world's governments that there were WMD and we'd be in and out of Iraq in months. We're still there.

She was the one who told the worlds's governments that forcing elections in Lebanon and the Palestinian territory would usher in a time of democracy in the Middle East and elect governments friendly to the West. Just the opposite happened.

She was the one that told Lebanon that she had their back in the latest Hezballah-Israeli war. She abandoned them to Syria. Russia just today signed a defense pack with Syria and is in the process of doing the same with Iran.

She was the one that told the world's governments that there would be democracy in Iraq and we would fix everything we destroyed with our shock and awe bombs. Bush abandoned that idea four years ago. The Iraqis still don't have a unified government and have abandoned elections for the fall.

She was the one that told the world's governments that if they sent troops to Afganistan, the U.S. would make a major contribution. She advised the President to send them to Iraq instead.

She told the world's govenments that it was alright to give the Georgians the green light to invade South Ossetia where the Russians were acting as U.N. peacekeepers. Moscow responded by invading Georgia.

So now she is telling all the world's governments that it's O.K. to create another Cuban Missile Crisis in Poland. Russia is just bluffing when they say they will invade.

No, it's not 1988. Russia is flush with oil and natural gas money not bankrupt like say...us? If any American president trys to install those missiles on Russia's border...they will respond just like we did in 1962 when they tried to do the same thing to us in Cuba.

Condi, the self-proclaimed expert on the bizzare, says she's also a Soviet expert. And that's the problem. She's calling out Russia not the Soviet Union...and all the world's govenments but the one headquartered in the Bush White House...know it.

You would have thought she had learned something along the way.

Russia will not only invade Poland if the GOP's presumptive President McCain attempted to deliver them, they would destroy all the pipelines around the world that supply us with oil and natural gas...among other things.

The neocons are trying to create their own reality again...and all the world's govenments are not laughing one bit at Condi's latest bizzare joke.

All the world's countries have already left Iraq and are not sending any more troops into Afganistan even though the Taliban is resurging.

Why?

As noted on "THE BOARD," editorial writers for Times mag, Lieberman's current approval rating is 45% in CT, and disapproval of 43%. And here's another reason we need more seats in the Senate, we'll have enough to boot the jackass from the demo caucus and strip him of his committee chairmanship.

Liberman can only hope McCain wins because he'll be out of a job come reelection time and you can bet there's a little place in a McCain white hose for a lacky travel companian who can smile and whisper sweet campaign corrections in the old man's ear. Speakers for Monday night, which will focus on "Service," will include Joe Lieberman demonstrating his ability to serve any forum that will feed his petty ego. Lieberman will be scheduled on the same evening as his war buddy Dick Cheney and official Lil' Abner Mattress Testing Award Winner, George W. Bush.

Tuesdays "Reform" brings Rudy Giuliani to talk about how you can reform law, order, and heroism to mean anything you want. And 9/11. Lots and lots of 9/11.

Speaking on "Prosperity" will be Cindy McCain, who will explain the traditional Republican means of getting by in hard times: inherit millions from your daddy. Cindy will demonstrate her pity for the middle class workers struggling to get by on three million a year, and for the poor who must survive with no more than two vacation homes.

And finally, John McCain will be there on Thursday night to focus on (I'm not kidding) "Peace."

Evening all good Dems,

I almost smashed my radio again this afternoon. Our local fascist pig radio station 770 really pisses me off. For starters they air savage, limpballs, hannity and cunningham. Their afternoon host jim bellanucci is a total utter asshole.

His entire show this afternoon was him bitching about Obama. He was whining about Obama's knowing William Ayres which jim was calling a member of the weatherman underground and as jim lies and says he was involved in several bombings in 1972.

Obama was eight years old and only knew William because they were both involved in some charity in the late 1990's.

William is an english professor. Obama was eight years old when William was alledgedly involved with the Weathermen.

jim was going on and on questioning Obama's patriotism (a favorite neo-fascist pig accusation) because he knew the guy in the late 90's. He whined and whined until I was about to smash the f**king radio. Several callers called and supported Obama but jim screamed at them and told them to get off the phone. What an asshole. He should be fired immediately.

jim was also whining about Obama's preacher .

Most of his callers were "veterans". Albuquerque is the home of the war monger, religious freak U.S. air farce. These veterans were going on and on attacking Obama.

rash limpballs was going on and on about Obama too. He reported that Russia said that since we are going to station missiles near their border like the Russians did in Cuba in 1962, and that Russia said that they will not answer our deed in words but in action.

This drug addled gasbag asked "what would Obama do?". Then he went on and on about Obama's patriotism and experience.

Yesterday he was making fun of America's working class mothers. He was making fun of them because they say they can't afford as much for school clothes this year. What an asshole.

The day before he was making fun of public schools because they were "whining" about having to reduce school bush service and that some of the kids will have to walk two miles to school. He was whining that all these "mothers" will offend Al Gore because they will be using their cars to drive their kids to school.

Why hasn't this asshole been arrested for smuggling big time quantities of drugs, including Viagra through U.S. Customs? What was he doing in Southeast Asia with an entire bottle of Viagra.

Southeast Asia is a place where it is reported that Americans go to have sex with children.

Why don't we attack mcasshole for his participation in:

The Keating 5.

Divorcing his wife who waited for him during his years of imprisonment in Vietnam. He was most likely screwing around with his new bimbo while he was still married although he denies it. Why does this not disqualify him from being President? They are chastising Edwards for doing the same damn thing. McAsshole is not fit to be a dog catcher.

Spilling his guts in North Vietnam. Their must be video available because it had been splashed all over the news while he was a prisoner. Has he had the videos destroyed.

Being a close friend of and sponsored by Hagee and Parlor. Both of these preachers are fascist pigs. One of them hates the Catholic Church and the other hates homosexuals.

McAsshole has flip-flopped on 72 issues to date.

McAsshole has phil gramm (the enron kid) back as his economic advisor. phil gramm doesn't know shit from shinola when it comes to economics except how too screw Americans.

How can these moron voters even consider voting for McAsshole. He is a total fucking asshat loser who should be charged with treason for ratting out his fellow Americans in North Vietnam.

He is not even fit to sell bird seed.

Finally, how dare that fucking fascist traitorous pig bush sign that agreement with Poland to spite Putin? Why aren't he and cheney behind bars?

Congress had better veto all funding for this major provacation and act of war. Are we going to continue letting these bastards skate and bring down America in the process.

I am fed up with the entire administration and congress. Let's flush them all out and reinstate our Constitution.

Let's pass the fairness doctrine despite the whining from the right wing fascist pigs and right wing fascist evangelical pricks.

Putin knows full well it's not 1988 - and he's probably laughing at all the cold war rhetoric coming from most of the Bush administration.

Fortunately, Russia's conventional military (and economy) isn't strong enough to occupy Poland - but unless a more sophisticated foreign policy is put in play Russia has plenty of Georgias they can pick on to make a point.

Bush wants the foundations of the missile defense shield laid in concrete before he leaves office so it's harder for the next president to abandon.

Poland is smart enough not to trust their children lives to any missile defense shield regardless of where the attack comes from

they just want a commitment from us that we're willing to die to defend them if they are attacked.

Cindy McCain Lied About Meeting Mother Theresa

The Christian Science Monitor reports that Cindy McCain was caught lying about meeting Mother Theresa:

"The latest embellishments come from the McCain camp. Cindy McCain has repeatedly referred to herself as an “only child.” This week came news that she actually has two half sisters, although apparently she had very little contact with them.

"The McCain campaign had also put out the story that Mother Teresa “convinced” Cindy to bring home two orphans from Bangladesh in 1991.

"Mrs. McCain, it turns out, never met Mother Teresa on that trip. (Once contacted by the Monitor, the campaign revised the story on its website.)"

Summary: Rush Limbaugh stated that Sen. Barack Obama "believes it is proper to kill a baby that has survived an abortion" and Ann Coulter said that Obama "wants the doctors ... chasing it through the delivery room to make sure it gets killed." They based their claims on Obama's opposition to an Illinois bill that he and other opponents said posed a threat to abortion rights and was unnecessary. Indeed, the Illinois Department of Public Health reportedly said that conduct alleged by proponents of the bill, if it had occurred, would have violated then-existing law.

Bush/McCain, Sacrificing Results for the Appearance of Results: A trade-off made possible by an on-demand mentality

When George Bush and John McCain insisted upon diverting U.S. Military Forces from efforts to neutralize Al-Queda, they did so believing that Iraq would be a walk in the park. Since then reality has butted its ugly face into the picture.

This was John McCain's judgement call, ignore the warnings of military advisors to George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton, who warned that Iraq would prove an expensive protracted conflict, and instead rush in and hope for the best.

A responsible military leader would have remained focused on the mission at hand in Afghanistan, he would not have ignored a proven threat like Osama bin Laden to go after a potential threat like Saddam Hussien, with or without the suspicion of cooperation between the two.

Worst of all, this distraction has resulted in the unneccessary loss of American lives and treasure as it has undoubtedly prolonged our military engagement in Afghanistan.

World War II lasted 4 years and involved conflict in theaters throughout Europe and the South Pacific. The war in Afghanistan has lasted more than 6 years.

In World War II we fought two well prepared and determined nations. In Afghanistan we fight a fringe element.

There is no acceptable excuse for the failure to capture Osama bin Laden and to neutralize his militants given more time than it took Americans to nuetralize the threat posed by both Germany and Japan in World War II.

McCain vs. Our Nation's Founders

As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

That is a quote, a direct quote, from a treaty ratified by the Senate and signed by President John Adams. That proclamation was the law of the land!

That is what America's founders thought of America, a nation without enmity against Islam. A nation whose government was not founded on the Christian religion.

McCain doesn't seem to know that.

NATO told bush to go fuck himself. This is the same as telling McAsshole to go fuck himself. I am giddy over these developments. The only countries in the world that like us are Georgia, Ukraine and Albania. Wow, what a coalition.
bush is no longer a lame duck, he is a ruptured duck who can still be dangerous when treed. He and cheney will no doubt take out their rage on Iran and the American people.

"NATO hit the USA in the face. Its allies said that they were not going to scale down their cooperation with Moscow. The statement showed that the USA was no longer NATO’s master and that Washington was not the city where all fundamental decisions were made.

Lavrov criticized NATO after the alliance warned that its cooperation with Moscow will depend on the pullout of troops from Georgia, saying that NATO is pursuing anti-Russian policies and supporting an aggressive Georgia
Lavrov criticized NATO after the alliance warned that its cooperation with Moscow will depend on the pullout of troops from Georgia, saying that NATO is pursuing anti-Russian policies and supporting an aggressive Georgia

The US administration hoped that the alliance would back its condemnation of Russia’s “invasion of Georgia.” However, Great Britain, a staunch ally of the United States, was the first country of NATO which said that the alliance should not isolate Russia. Condoleezza Rice’s counterpart in Britain, David Miliband, offered to expand the bilateral cooperation with Russia. It was later revealed that Britain did not support the suggestion to exclude Russia from the Group of Eight.

“The USA continues to wage the informational war against Russia. Americans are now acting indirectly, through Georgia. They have no true allies left except for several countries of East Europe, which they support financially,” the expert said.

It is an open secret that politics can be very dirty, just like prostitution. However, it is impossible to bribe everyone. German Chancellor Angela Merkel does not personify the whole of Germany with her statements. She mostly expresses the interests of German rightist forces. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier openly supports Russia and condemns Georgia.

The Czech Republic, Greece, Slovakia and France expressed their support to Russia too. In this situation, Russia needs to explain to European NATO members that Georgia’s membership in the alliance would be highly inadequate.

President Dmitry Medvedev stated that the troops would be pulled out from Georgia to South Ossetia and Russia by August 22. The president added that 500 Russian peacemakers would stay near South Ossetia’s borders.

Russia said that it would not participate in the Open Spirit 2008 international naval exercise in the Baltic Sea. In addition, Russia informed the USA of the impossibility to receive the U.S. warship in the Far East port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The ship was due to pay a business visit to the Kamchatka Peninsula on September 5-9.

The exercise has been held annually since 1997 within the framework of NATO's Partnership for Peace program, with the aim of sweeping Baltic States' coastal areas for old WWI and WWII explosives, RIA Novosti says.

Now John McCain, who turns 72 in a little more than a week, can't even remember what he and his campaign say day to day. No wonder the McCain campaign won't let McCain talk to the press any more. He doesn't seem quite all there any more. To wit: Today McCain is claiming that he didn't question Obama's patriotism. Really? What do you call it when you say he wants to lose a war because it will help win an election? What do you call it when you say that Obama doesn't put his country first? When you say that Obama doesn't care about the troops? That's an attack on someone's patriotism. If we said those things about McCain, we'd hear all about how he was a tortured vet and we're attacking vets - so why when McCain says it about Obama are we supposed to shrug it off as nothing?

Jeeze, not this tired old chestnut again.

Obviously these MORONS (and s/he* knows who s/he* is since s/he* has been posting this thing repeatedly for a few days AGAIN) don't have any familiarity of the Rules of the Illinois Senate.

Stupid people pos6t C & P of crap from other stupid people and act as if their stupidity in verified.

As ABCNews.com's Political Radar blog noted on July 17, Obama cast his "present" votes on the parental notification bills with the support of Illinois Planned Parenthood: .
When Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., voted "present," rather than "yes" or "no" on a handful of controversial abortion votes in the Illinois state senate, he did so with the explicit support of the president and CEO of Illinois Planned Parenthood Council. . "We at Planned Parenthood view those as leadership votes," Pam Sutherland, the president and CEO of the Illinois Planned Parenthood Council, told ABC News. "We worked with him specifically on his strategy. The Republicans were in control of the Illinois Senate at the time. They loved to hold votes on 'partial birth' and 'born alive'. They put these bills out all the time ... because they wanted to pigeonhole Democrats." . Speaking to ABC News as Obama was preparing to join Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and the wife of Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., in addressing Planned Parenthood's national conference in Washington, D.C., Sutherland said Obama approached her in the late 1990s and worked with her and others in crafting the strategy of voting "present." She remembers meeting with Obama outside of the Illinois Senate chambers on the Democratic side of the aisle. She and Obama finished their conversation in his office.

Wash. Post's Solomon ignored Planned Parenthood support for Obama's abortion votes

(I hope this blockquote thingy works. It SURE would be nice to have a functioning "preview" button, seeing as how the CONVENTION starts in less than a week.)

Dorsano, the point is US companies aren't leaving because of taxes, they are leaving for cheap labor, that includes no benefits to the workers. That was the point. The republicans feel sorry that US corporations that have shipped our jobs overseas have to pay any tax at all. They want them, and their CEO's to have billions so they can hire more communists and by more french villas and vacation homes in other countries.

I don't get Obama. Why doesn't he use the word "irresponsible" because that is what the republicans have been? Irresponsible with fiscal policy, irresponsible foreign policy, irresponsible money policy (falling dollar), irresponsible energy policy, irresponsible disaster policy, irresponsible "insert last 8 yr boondoggle here" policy.

There is been absolutely not accountability by the Republicans anywhere in the last 8 yreas, and I'll get is a meek whine about character assassinations. (Well, da, it's politics not a gentleman's club.)
