Dusty, try to ignore them. If you don't give them attention, they go away. Same with pesky vermin and street vendors.

CBS4 has learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were “going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a … rifle … sighted at 750 yards.”

Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects “was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative.”

John McCain must explain his ties to felon Jim Hensley

As conservative bloggers and mainstream media sources work overtime to try and force Barack Obama to explain, reexplain, and then again explain his relationship with former Weatherman Bill Ayers, John McCain still has questions to answer about his own relationship with a criminal.

The criminal in question is McCain's father-in-law, the late Jim Hensley. At the time of his death in 2000, Hensley was one of the richest men in Arizona and owner of one of the largest Anheuser-Bush Distributorships in the nation.

Hensley and daughter Cindy are well-established as the sponsors of McCain's political career and McCain has called Hensley a "role model." Ayers once contributed $200 to Obama, and the two have have worked together with a charity group and school reform group.

How else do Hensley and Ayers match up?

Another one for Kathy from Indiana;
http://firedoglake.com/2008/08/26/democrats-win-first-night/

On why the first night needed to be "nice". I agree with this article, Michelle couldn't call McSame out. Teddy couldn't call McSame out. But they had great speeches, didn't they?
Tonight I hope they blast McSame out of the water. :) Hillary can do it!!!!

Oh come on now Blue- McSame was a POW!!! How could you bring up his association with a criminal?

The CDC's National Center for Health Statistics puts out semi-annual estimates on cell phone only households based on the NHIS survey. The most recent (also discussed here) estimated that 12.8% of American households (and 11.8% of all adults) had "only wireless telephones" during the second half of 2006. Including those without any telephone service at all (1.7% of adults), the survey estimated that 13.5% of adults were essentially out of reach of telephone surveys late last year.

Unfortunately, the CDC numbers released just weeks ago are already out of date because, as the chart above makes clear, the percentage of cell-phone-only households has been rising rapidly, with an upward turn since late 2005. I asked Stephen J. Blumberg, the primary author of the CDC report, about that apparent increase in the rate of growth. He reports (via email) that the "compound growth rate" in cell-phone only households and adults has remained "remarkably stable over time," growing by "22-23% every six months" and not slowing down:

If the compound growth rate in 2007 and 2008 remains as it was in 2003-2006, then more than 25% of U.S. households will only have cell phones during the second half of 2008 (that is, when pre-election polling will be at its peak).

and this is why I don't trust polling...

Oh, you are so right. I forgot about his "get out of everything" card. It amazes me how some people believe sitting in a prison in a foreign country makes you qualified to be president. But, OTOH, these same people believed that running a baseball team into the ground qualified you for POTUS too.

A woman gets tossed from a Federal building for wearing a T-shirt that says lesbian.com.

Where the hell is my country?

11
Cate on August 26, 2008 at 01:38 PM

Oh and on that whole lesbian tshirt thing, why do they suggest wearing a t-shirt that says "lesbian.com" is somehow "promoting" lesbianism?

I am embarrassed to say my party is a loser. I've been a dem all my life. All I can say about the convention and the talking heads is that the dems are losers. McCain is getting more press than the dems. Where are the ads countering McCain.

The man has cancer after all. He could be dead in a year. Talk about putting the country at risk. dems are losers not to point this out.

LOSERS. Set up a 502 to do something. Have you seen the ads in CO about conservative issues.

Dems -- losers again.

johncook, Can you imagine the press the Democrats would be getting today, had that first Convention night been nothing but an attack session against McCain?

I believe it was exactly what it needed to be. Ted Kennedy inspiring. Michelle Obama confirming that she and Barack are from the same type of people as we are. Nancy Pelosi gave a good speech.

There will be plenty of time to blast McCain, starting with Hillary Clinton tonight, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, etc.

We HAVE to win over Independents and undecideds. If all we do is talk about McCain, who will get our message out?

SandyH, you are quite confused by Butte's comments. He was responding to a post earlier at 09:45 AM on this thread where she saw a veteran's car parked at her pet store parking lot. Just the fact that the guy had a bumper sticker satirizing Bill and Hillary was her license to say some pretty nasty things about him and his service as well as veterans in general.

Apparently only veterans who ate democrats are worthy of her respect, if they are not then they are worthy of her worse opinions of them.

And yes, soldiers returning from Vietnam were indeed subjected to hatred by war protesters who called them baby killers and spit on them. A sad chapter in our history to be sure.
