Kicking Ass: The Democratic Party's Blog

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones Passes Away

Posted by Matt Ortega on August 20, 2008 at 08:15 PM

We were deeply shocked here at the DNC. Please see Governor Dean's statement on Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones' passing:

"We are greatly saddened about the passing of Congresswoman Tubbs Jones. Stephanie was a true American hero and inspiring leader, having spent a lifetime breaking barriers and standing up for her values. Just last week I was honored to have Stephanie join me on the campaign trail in Ohio where, as always, her infectious energy, enthusiasm and passion uplifted the crowd. Her voice will be greatly missed.

"This is a great loss for our Party and our nation. On behalf of the Democratic Party, we extend our thoughts and prayers to Congresswoman Tubbs Jones' friends and family during this difficult time."

God/dess bless Stephanie Tubbs-Jones.
She was so special, an inspiration to so many, a glowing ray of hope and goodness in our times. I had hoped so much that she would play a big role in the future for us. She was tops as a speaker. We have lost a truly great and loving-kind soul. Let us always remember her good example of community caring and sharing, her tireless work for humanitarian issues.
Yes, I am so sad, this is such a sudden loss and I will miss her smiling face and her confident intelligent voice for The People. She did such a good job, may her soul now rest in peace.

A good page with everything about Stephanie is at:

On one interview, when asked how she did it all, she mentioned her abiding faith, a faith in others, in herself and in the higher good. This is for Stephanie, who will never walk alone.
