DNC Launches New Web Ad: ''Hillary is Right''

August 26, 2008

With Senator Hillary Clinton set to address the Democratic National Convention in Denver tonight, the Democratic National Committee today released a new web ad called "Hillary is Right." On the heels of the latest McCain campaign ad declaring that Senator Clinton was "right," the video highlights Senator Clinton's repeated criticism of John McCain's more of the same agenda. It includes her famous claim that John McCain and President Bush "are two sides of the same coin, and it doesn't amount to a whole lot of change."

"Senator Clinton was right, John McCain represents more of the same failed Bush policies," said DNC spokesman Damien LaVera. "The last thing America's working families can afford is a President who brags about supporting President Bush more than ninety percent of the time and promises more of the same. That's why Democrats are united and committed to making sure John McCain doesn't add yet another house to his list of properties."

The following is a script of "Hillary is Right:"

CLINTON: "I'm Hillary Clinton, and I do not approve that message" (Over image of McCain ad) [Remarks to New York Convention Delegates, 8/25/08]

CLINTON: "After eight devastating years under President Bush, Senator McCain is simply offering four years more." [Unity, NH campaign rally, June 27, 2008]

CLINTON: "He will have more of the same. He didn't even vote on the stimulus package. He has said he doesn't really understand the economy. Well, I think it's really important that the next President understand the economy and how to make it work for the vast majority of Americans." [Clinton remarks, University of Virginia, February 11, 2008]

CLINTON: "In the end, Senator McCain and President Bush are like two sides of the same coin, and it doesn't amount to a whole lot of change." [Unity, NH campaign rally, June 27, 2008]
