I understand wanting to "bring the base along" and all - but if Senator McCain wants to govern differently than President Bush - now is a good time to make that clear.

Don't worry, Senator - your "base" will follow your "leadership" - All they are waiting for is your word - they'll be relieved and happy hear it. Show some leadership.
