We are here at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium for the final day of the Democratic National Convention where Senator Barack Obama will accept the Democratic nomination for president.
It will be a star-studded event. Among those set to speak before thousands:
Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, members of the family of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, DNC Chairman Howard Dean, former Vice President Al Gore and Senator Dick Durbin will introduce his colleague, Senator Barack Obama.

Having Al Gore speaking tonight while the nation looks to the Gulf in anticipation of Hurricane Gustav making landfall early next week couldn't be more important.
Nobody wants to witness that destruction again. Nobody wants to witness any ,more Republican neglect, indifference, and incompetence.
We could have had Al Gore in charge. We can have Barack Obama in charge....when brains and responsible leadership means the most.
Can't let the convention go by without saying how disappointed I was that CNN and other stations didn't let us hear Nancy Pelosi! It's a travesty. She holds higher office than any woman in US History, and CNN chooses that point to do some lame Q&A??? What's up with that???
last night i wasn't going to watch, figuring since i'd vote demo anyway, i'd take a walk. something told me to stay and watch. i was glad i did. after last night, i can again to say i'm proud to be a demo. proud to be a demo more than ever. so let's pull together and let's not have another 3rd bush term.
hopefully after tonight's demo speech(es), DNC will consider airing ads portraying the republican's choice as 4 shades of mcbush
the mcsame = "continue" war & oil tax breaks
the mclame = "unsure" how many homes?
the mcshame = rove--swift boat "tactics"
the mcblame = media "misquoted" me
I am a Permanent Resident from the UK.
I don't get a vote but I pay taxes here and have a father-in-law who is a veteran but still has thousands of dollars in healthcare bills to pay.
My wife and I still have to get to work, no matter the cost of petrol (gas).
Tonight is the night that the last hope the ordinary person on any given American street has to convince those not already committed to his cause to join him. Barack Obama is the only person who can save this country and allow it to take its place alongside other nations once again.
Arrogance and ignorance have, for 8 years, taken this proud country to the brink and that must end. Please remember that when you cast your vote in November, you are also casting a vote for those of us who contribute but have no voice in this process.
It seems at this point that there is every possibility that an Obama presidency can usher in an era of change - optimism and enthusiasm - even hope for a better tomorrow - a better America. I am still a solid supporter of Hillary Clinton and am still sorely disappointed that she did not become our nominee. The reality is that it is just too important - ALL of us Hillary supporters MUST support our candidate, Barak Obama. Our country desperately needs this! After 8 years of a republican administration that has essentially DESTROYED our economy, world standing and so much more, CHANGE is so long past due. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS NOW, IT IS TOO IMPORTANT TO HOLD ONTO ANGER - TOO IMPORTANT TO ALLOW THE REPUBLICAN MACHINE TO MANIPULATE OUR ANGER AND DISSAPOINTMENT. Please vote for Obama as I will, our country has been devastated by the republicans and the special interests therein - we must make a change, we must save our country. Comon Hillary supporters, do the right thing!!!!
Barack says McCain is wrong because he calls us a "nation of whiners". Wake up America - we are! We worry about gas and groceries when the rest of the world worries about life and death. Women in Darfur are raped as they watch their children being burned to death. I'm a Democrat and proud to be one. I'm also sad that out of all current heads-of-state it is President Bush who has given the most aid to Darfur.
I will likely vote Democrat - because that is who I am. However, Barack is making it very hard to be proud to be a Democrat.
JudyK, I will respect your right to your opinion, no matter what it is. I don't understand why you claim it is hard to be proud to be a Democrat because of Barack. Barack is not president now. He has not bankrupted our country, George Bush has. Bush inherited the largest surplus and has turned it into the largest deficit in just 8 short years. While I am concerned about the plight of women in Darfur, I am more concerned about the plight of womenin this country where rape occurs every day because a large segment of American youth both black and white have lost hope and until last night, saw no way of ever escaping their economic circumstances. Last night, Obama gave all Americans a hope and a new direction and he showed the youth of this country that they can succeed if they dream big enough and woke hard enough. They don't have to be drug dealer, rapists and murderers.
"He who does not provide for his own, 'specially those of his own house (Nation) has denied the faith and is worse than an infidwl." (George Bush)
It is unfortunate that we can not solve every problem on the planet, we don;t have the money! The best way we can help others is by rebuilding our own country and leading by example....Not force....Unless we do this, our nation will fail and we won't be able to even help ourselves much less help anyone else.
Come on Judy, wake up!
The Darfur situation did not even come to light till the last 8 years! The international community is appalled at the lack of help Darfur gets from the richest nation in the world!
While Bush and soon McCain pour trillions into an illegal occupation where we have no business being, Side luxuries like helping other countries take a back seat!
The American public finds it hard to be too sympathetic to Darfur, while filling up their tank with $75 worth of gasoline, and stopping at the store to buy more of those Macaroni and Cheese boxes to fill the kids!
So your best bet to see more aid to Darfur lies with Obama, who will not only bring our troops home, but All of that Cash being thrown onto credit cards to indebt us more and more to China!
Good morning Pam, I don't seem to be able to post on the main thread. This is so aggravating! Have a nice day!

I feel the same way. Elections are important. The airways belong to the people. Why can't we once every four years hear the words of those who represent us?

Thank you for giving us a different perspective. Many of those that died on 9/11 were citizens of other countries working here. Your voice should be heard and taken in consideration.
My fellow Democrates,it is about time someone let the air of that "big bag of wind" Sarah Palin. Has it come to anyones attention that she is responsible for the job lost of her constituants. She so proudly threw out the cook and her driver, probably even the crew of that plane she tried to sell on Ebay. She caused pain and suffering to those families who she made unemployed. An intire family is struggling trying to make a decent living and she's proud to announce that she got rid of honest workers on National television. Today televion it was announced how many jobless we have in this country. Just imagine, Governor Palin is proudly responsible for some of those statistics.
