McCain: Tax Breaks for Big Oil But Not Wind Power
Posted by Matt Ortega on August 12, 2008 at 07:58 PM
So much for "all of the above." John McCain backs big tax breaks for Big Oil, but forget wind.
McCain recently opposed the big $300 billion farm bill, which itself is extremely popular throughout the upper Midwest, describing the bill as "a $300 billion, bloated, pork-barrel-laden bill" because of subsidies for industries like ethanol.
But in a little-noticed development, the bill also contained a
measure extending a tax break for developing wind power, which McCain specifically opposed.
Obama backed it. According to Senator Tom Harkin, an Obama ally, the
wind energy industry is employing close to 2,000 people, some
concentrated in those key swing states. It's little local issues like
these that can move votes in states where the voting is expected to be
extremely close.

The old windbag thinks he's expending enough hot air for all of us?
If you weant a president that can't, then vote for McCaint. This should be his new slogan.
OK, last time I needed gas for my car on my way to work (your guys know what work is?……….Don’t you?) I stopped by the filling station and there was no pump for wind power. There was no pump for solar power. The reality was that there were only gas pumps there. I could not find the magical alternative fuel pump. It was nowhere to be found. You see, we need gas to fuel our cars. And gas comes from oil. And oil comes from oil companies that you know ………drill for oil. Are you starting to see a trend here? Tax breaks for the oil companies are a good thing! You see, we need more oil so we can make more gas so we can continue to fuel our cars so we can drive our job. (You guys do know what a job is?………………… Don’t you?) This is not real hard people. Try to wrap your head around this whole concept. Capitalism is a good thing! And tax breaks for businesses help grow our economy. They work every time they are tried!

I wonder how Obama gets around to campaign? Does he fly the wind powered airplane or the solar powered helicopter?
We are a long ways away from an alternate fuel so in the mean time we need to pump more DAMN OIL!
Wind and solar energy are emerging technologies, which will reduce the need for natural gas and coal power plants.
McInsane is insisting on using nuclear technology for that purpose in spite of the problems with nuclear. He's still living in the 1960s, when nuclear was the answer to everything.
Maybe the Obama campaign needs to get Gov. Schweitzer involved.
I think I'd like to see solar panels on the tops of these electric vehicles. It would extend their range, and you could park in a sunny spot and recharge your vehicle while you work. Or maybe parking lots with plug ins for solar panels which would recharge your can and provide a sun shade so the vehicle isn't broiling hot when you open the door to get in.
You just have to think of these things.
