Barack Obama, Democratic Presidential Nominee

GOP Congressman Endorses Obama/Biden Ticket

Congressman Wayne Gilchrist (R-Kennedyville, Md.), who lost his primary in a challenge from the right, endorsed Senator Barack Obama in an interview on local station for National Public Radio.

Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, a maverick Republican from Maryland, endorsed Illinois Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president in an interview Wednesday with WYPR, Baltimore's National Public Radio station.

Gilchrest, who lost a primary campaign and is retiring from Congress, has already endorsed the Democrat running for his seat, Frank Kratovil. Justifying his endorsement of Obama, Gilchrest said that "we can't use four more years of the same kind of policy that's somewhat haphazard, which leads to recklessness."

Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), "have the breadth of experience. I think they're prudent. They're knowledgable."

Rep. Gilchrist joins a list of other Republicans who have broken ranks with the GOP to support Barack Obama for president -- "Obamacans" as the Democratic nominee likes to call them. Read more about Republicans for Obama.

Palin "Troopergate" probe proves that our democracy is at peril under a McCain/Palin presidency. PERHAPS NOW MORE REPUBLICANS, AND EVEN SOME CONSERVATIVES, WILL SUPPORT THE OBAMA CANDIDACY.

If this investigation is delayed until after the election or stopped altogether, it is resounding evidence that we Americans can expect the same type of injustice, lack of transparency and fair play that we've received from the worst of the Karl Rove, Dick Cheney playbook.

THIS IS NOT GETTING THE MEDIA ATTENTION IT DESERVES, WE AMERICANS DEMAND AN ANSWER AND AN HONEST PROBE AS TO WHETHER ANY LAWS OR IMPROPER ACTIVITIES WERE COMMITTED BY OUR POTENTIAL NEXT VICE PRESIDENT! WE DEMAND TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE HIDING FROM US.

9/05/08:
ABC News learned that Alaska Senator Hollis French will announce that he is moving up the release date of his investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her office to get the Alaska public safety commissioner fired. The results were scheduled for release Oct 31 but will now come three weeks earlier.

THIS INVESTIGATION WAS INITIATED BY THE BI-PARTISAN STATE SENATE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL COMMITTEE, BY UNANIMOUS VOTE OF 8 REPUBLICANS AND 4 DEMOCRATS.

Palin, who said she had nothing to hide, has hired private lawyers to represent her.

9/17/08:
(ABC News)Palin shifted her tactics for the second time in three weeks on "troopergate," this time calling to end the very investigation that she herself called for and the one the McCain campaign had said was the only proper venue for a probe. Palin had pledged her full support, however, her attorney asked the legislators to withdraw their subpoenas of Palin aides and her husband.

9/17/08 (Edmonton Sun) Five republican state legislators filed suit yesterday to end the "troopergate" investigation, labeling it "unlawful, biased, partial and partisan." None of those filing the suit serves on the bipartisan legislative council that unanimously approved the investigation.

9/18/08 Former DC Federal Anti-Terrorism prosecutor Edward O-Callaghan, now working for the McCain campaign filed suit to declare the investigation illegal. He has mounted an aggressive campaign, which includes personal attacks and daily news conferences to stop the investigation from going forward.

9/18/08 (CNN)Aides to Gov. Palin won't compy with subpoenas issued by state lawmakers because Palin "has declined to participate in the probe."

Alaska Atty General Talis Colberg said, "As state employees, our clients have taken an oath to uphold the Alaska Constitution, and for that reason, they respect the Legislator's desire to carry out an investigation in support of its lawmaking powers. HOWEVER, our clients are also loyal employees subject to the supervision of the governor. THIS IS AN UNTENABLE POSITION FOR OUR CLIENTS BECAUSE THE GOVERNOR HAS SO STRONGLY STATED THAT THE SUBPOENAS ISSUED BY YOUR DOMMITTEE ARE OF QUESTIONABLE VALIDITY."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is no longer a State of Alaska probe, it has become a national probe by virtue of the fact that our country will be electing our next President and Vice President in six weeks, at a critical time in our history. We Americans have been clamoring for a change in direction and fresh leadership. It is not democracy if we are forced to vote on blind faith, we've done that in the last two elections.
