I tried watching the RNC last hight. But after about an hour of pasty faced old coots and a few token "others", I couldn't take it any more and turned it off. Killing Orcs on my computer turned out to be more productive.
Democrats are accusing former party member Joe Lieberman of misleading the Republican National Convention in his speech
Oh for Pete's sake - get rid of the bastard - Reid - do something!
This is pretty funny.
Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The smart money thinks there's a better chance today than yesterday that John McCain will dump Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Before the Republican senator's presidential campaign disclosed the pregnancy of Palin's 17-year-old daughter, bookmakers in Britain and Ireland were offering 20-1 odds or higher on a bet that she would be forced off the ticket, meaning a 1 pound ($1.78) bet would pay 20 pounds. Now that same bet will pay no more than 8 pounds.
Butte - I noticed that too. Mostly all white old males. What's the matter with that party, can't they get someone else? Do they empty out Faith Missions or what?
The bigger question is - if that is the party of the republicans made up of old white men - what's going to happen when these old white men start to bite the dust?
Good afternoon, all!
Palin is in "full retreat" mode. She even blew off a Phylis Schlafley hosted fund raiser for her last night.
The McSame campaign has been taken over by the RNC and they are humpin' their butts to get her some schoolin' FAST! They have said "NO INTERVIEWS" until "sometime after the end of the convention".
McCain staffers to tutor Sarah Billie Dawn Palin:The McCain team has hastily assembled a team of former Bush White House aides to tutor the vice-presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, on foreign-policy issues, to write her speeches and to begin preparing her for her all-important Oct. 2 debate against Sen. Joe Biden.
Steve Biegun, who once served as the No. 3 National Security Council official under Condoleezza Rice at the White House, has been hired as chief foreign-policy adviser to the Alaska governor, campaign officials told NEWSWEEK. After taking leave from his job as vice president for international affairs at Ford Motor Co. last Friday, Biegun flew to St. Paul and, together with McCain’s foreign-policy guru Randy Schuenemann, began briefings for Palin on national-security issues—an area where her resume is conspicuously thin.
Biegun is hardly the only Bushie to be tapped for Palin duty.

Make sure you click on all the internal links, where you will find this little gem:
On Monday night, I encountered Mark Salter, a top McCain adviser, outside the St. Paul Hotel, and I asked him when Palin's first press conference would be. Her did not seem eager to talk about it. "After the convention," he said. Soon after the convention? "After," he repeated. Whenever it occurs, it will be some session.
Like TBogg says, "Vetting or no vetting, McCain's people must have just discovered that Sarah Palin is a twenty car pile-up of duh.
They should ask for combat pay..."

Yep. Just put some guns in their hands and you have a general picture of Idaho. They don't call them the grand OLD party for nothin'.
(CNN) -- Democrats take note: the Republican convention was resolutely on-message Tuesday night, sounding old themes and buzzwords that have worked for the GOP in the past.
Yep and that's just the problem - it worked yesterday. This is a new time and place. The American voter is tired of the so old crap...

They are a 'bunch of pasty faced old coots,' aren't they and what gets me is that they seem to think that by virtue of being just that they have the right to tell others what is best for them! They are nothing but egomanical authoritarians and they need to butt out of people's lives and stick to what they know - sitting in their rocking chairs on the porch. They need to leave running the country to those who are interested in actually doing so and not more interested in being in charge.
dan, what does this say about the palin family values? hubby belonged to this group from 1995 to 2002, wifey spoke to their convention this year:
"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government...and I won't be buried under their damn flag." - Joe Vogler, Founder of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP)

I've forgotten...how long did it take to make a Stepford wife?
They're probably just seeing if they can fit Cheney's entire hand up her behind to control her mouth while he's doing the actual speaking.
I see white people...old, male, white people:

and not very many of them!
Did you see when the back cameras were on, the entire top and half the bottom are empty! I was almost embarassed for them, but then I LMAO!!! those articles on the Real Republicans sitting this election out appear to be true!
BTW, I just turned the TV on for first time, and I want to know.
How come the Righties can all talk about Palin's daughter and her pregnancy and praise how they are keeping the kid, YET she is off limits to the left and the media??????????????? hmmmmm, THEY can use her, but we can't!
My son is wondering if Palin isn't McCain's way of getting back at the Right wing nuts for not wanting LIEberloser to be his runing mate. Considering the depths to which the Republican party has sunk, it's bizarre enough to be plausible.

Oh yes...you didn't know that? I'm sure when all this gets out about her sitting in church listening to a preacher spout off about America, those same old white men will claim that "one's religion shouldn't be at issue".
It's only an "issue" when it benefits them.
ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) -- GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will highlight her record as Alaska's governor and a former small-town mayor when she speaks Wednesday night to the Republican National Convention, a top aide to Palin said.
But what will she talk about for the next 40 minutes since this topic will only take her 2 minutes if that????
On Tuesday night, Republican leaders strongly defended Palin, who has won praise from influential conservatives for her opposition to abortion and her pro-business record.
Actor and former Sen. Fred Thompson led the charge, berating "Washington pundits and media big shots" who have questioned her experience as a first-term governor of Alaska and former mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.
She is from a small town, with small-town values, but that's not good enough for those folks who are attacking her and her family," he said to cheers.
"Let's be clear. ... The selection of Gov. Palin has the other side and their friends in the media in a state of panic. She is a courageous, successful reformer who is not afraid to take on the establishment."
Freddie boy is correct when he said that we are in a state of panic but I think he missed the point. We're not scared of Ms. Northern Exposure, no - we're terrified if that lady gets into office. Not only is she not qualified to be the leader of the free world but with her over zealous religious terrorist attributes, I am scared poopless...the harm that women could do to this country on top of the harm Bush has already done - I don't think this country would survive!

BINGO!!!! You hit right square on the head lady! I say we keep talking and talking about this issue. Obama can keep above the fray but for those of us in the trenchs - I say let it rip!
Why can't we talk about it? If that side can use it to their advantage so can we... screw them!

Aw, come on! There's two things wrong with that statement. The first is that McInsane can't even speak for himself and he sure wouldn't be able to speak coherently in THAT postion! And if the rich bitch ever caught him with his hand up Paulin's skirt(much as he obviously wants to), she'd divorce his butt, and take her millions and change the locks in ALL of her houses! LOL!

Maybe McCain just wanted to check out the forest to see if there was any WOOD in the trees.. :/

I think she's been used enough. But the Hubby - now there's a rich source of material for us to go after, and if Michelle Obama is fair game so is he.
All this chatter about how Palin's speech will be 'awesome" and how she will "hit it out of the park" tonight is just more MSM glossing over this train wreck of a campaign.
The speech was written a few weeks ago, before anyone knew who the VP choice would be.
There was a flutter of attention when McCain campaign manager Rick Davis told a group of Post reporters and editors yesterday that his team was having to rework the vice presidential acceptance speech because the original draft, prepared before Gov. Sarah Palin was chosen, was too "masculine." While we all wondered to ourselves what might make a speech masculine or feminine, no one batted an eye at the underlying revelation: that the campaign was writing the nominee's speech before knowing who the nominee would be.
Putting Words in Palin's Mouth
How could it be "too macho"? Is she really going to "feminize" it?
Expect a lot of platitudes and jingoism.

Number of times the Economy was mentioned last night - ZERO.
Number of times anything was mentioned last night other than whining and character assassination - NADA
As far as I'm concerned the Palins are just another family of redneck assholes. Hardly the exemplars the Pugs want us to think they are.

I really couldn't care less about her daughter and the unplanned pregnancy out of wedlock. I do, however, believe that she is a stunning example of how the abstinence only policies of the GOP AND Palin do not work. If you cannot expect your daughter to abide by the "just say no" mindset, then how can you expect anyone else's daughter???
sally and dan are in the pig's can fly bizznezz and they themselves a real pen of em to get off the ground now.
Bristol Palin’s out-of-wedlock conception may be a case of like mother like daughter. Sarah’s first child, Track, appears to have been conceived outside of wedlock as well. Like her mother, Bristol Palin intends to marry the father of her baby.
Seems mother had peanut butter legs too. Easy to spread.
Because she is 17 years old and not running for anything dumbass!
OH, then that should mean she can't be used by the Right either. to drag her picture and ass (and I mean that in a nice way) out in public to say what a fine upstanding christian girl she is, but don't you dare point out her Mother is the Poster girl for HYPOCRISY ! that her mother is an Evie, wants abstinence, yet her own daughter is in the backseat of some boys car when she does not know where she is!
Dobson called her a sinner the other day, but said, that's ok, God forgives! Maybe somebody should tell him she is not running for anything so who gives a shit! heeheehee
well, well, looks like McCain got to that Wasilla Church and closed it's website down!!!
Website with Speeches and Sermons from Palin's Former Church Shuts Down as Religious Views of Candidate Face Scrutiny
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/website-with-sp.html
From the The Seminal:
Palin’s selection sends a disingenuous and alarming message to American mothers — that even if it puts their son or daughter in mortal, daily danger there is no reason not to support the war in Iraq; that gun control is unnecessary; and that this country makes it easy for women with five children (including a five month old) to have a successful career and even, say, run for Vice President. But her profound lack of national experience serves as glaring evidence that she has not been selected for her qualifications, her courage, or her brain, but for the personal choices she has made for her family and for herself as a woman. Quite frankly, conservatives have rewarded a woman politically for deciding to keep a baby and for sending her son to Iraq. For this reason, Palin’s selection is a great disservice to women — and further evidence of how truly destructive a Republican victory will be for American women.
CLAIM VS FACT on What's Her Name:
•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years
•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary
school, not since
•“NRA supporter”: absolutely true
•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill
that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships
(said she did this because it was unconsitutional).
•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to
promote it.
•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby
BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life
legislation
•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has
residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska.
No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on
supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city
administrator to run town of about 5,000.
•political maverick: not at all
•gutsy: absolutely!
•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at
explaining actions.
•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no
•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores
and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.
•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!
•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city
without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built
streets to early 20th century standards.
•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on
residents
•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city
government in Wasilla’s history.
•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union
doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim
that she is pro-labor/pro-union.
Hey Pam - are you sure McCain is taking down all those web sites on Ms. Northern Exposure?
menstrualpoetry.com/sarah-palin-feminist
This should wake up a few Hillary supporters....
Not only is Sarah Palin not a feminist, she is as anti-woman as Bush and McCain combined. That is the reason why McCain picked her; not because she is a woman and he wanted to be underhanded (which he totally did,) but because she’s a Republican, conservative man who just happens to be in a woman’s body
She is in favor of public schools teaching abstinence-only education (Alaska is currently considering spending more on abstinence-only sex education) and creationism. I can see the syllabus…”Yes, a man in the sky made you and he says not to have sex until you’re married no matter what. Got it? And if you are raped, even if you’re raped by a member of your family and become pregnant you will have that baby!”When it comes to other issues of women, such as equal pay for equal work, she is following McCain’s lead and isn’t even on the record.
Considering that Todd Palin has been accused of being the power behind the throne in the governor's office, I think targeting him is not only within bounds, but imperative. It would be useful to know if Sarah Palin is her own person or a Stepford Wife.
The campaign is slow to react and continues to hold back.. I do not get it.
It is all over the blog shpere that McCain indicated that Palin("pain") was selected cause she was "his partner..and soul mate" on Fox news. His spokes person said the he had told her that Palin was his soul mate.
And being a buety queen.
COMMON where is the AD??????????? There is not much time left. Oh I forgot. We must be careful.
This is starting to look just like when Bush ran and appealed to the evangelicals, I guess McCain really had nothing to stand on so he went for the same old wedge issues.
How can you say you are a maverick when you're doing the same old thing.
Also, I have no problem with Palin and her personal life, I only disagree with her political views.
OBAMA/BIDEN 08!!
