And bush wants to give Georgia a billion dollars to protect them from Russia.
Congress needs to step in here and tell him NO!
Good afternoon, all!
I heard that not only has this GOP lie and smear fest pulling in A LOT fewer viewers than the Dems last week, but is also behind in viewership of any convention in years!
On top of that, the attendance is the lowest of ANY political convention since at least the 1968 Pug convention.
The Pugs and the people are staying away in droves. The degree of apathy is astounding.
Good afternoon, all.
It's not about McCain's career. It's about the economy and your career.
It's not about Iraq, Iran, or Georgia. It's about Bin Lauden and he's in Afganistan and Pakistan.
Thanks Hybrid,
X-tian Reich. Thanks for the comparison. I wonder what symbol they will use on their arm bands.
Well, this thread is troll-free so far. Funny how there seem to be more of them than of us today. The stench of troll is blending with the stink of desperation. palin was a total loss last night. McDickhead will be lucky to get 305 of the vote.
Oops - 30% of the vote

Johne, this is from today's "QT" column in the Sun-Times:
Georgia's on his mindNews Headline: "Budget cuts on way for Georgia universities."
News Headline: "Condition of Georgia's bridges gets worse."
News Headline: "Homeowners may pay for state budget woes."
News Headline: "Bush announces $1 billion in aid for Georgia."
Or did you already guess the money is going to the Georgia over there and not the Georgia here?
reposted from previous thread....
What is it about all these 'good looking' repukeligan 'babes' that makes them so wicked-witch UGLY? Is it their total lack of concern for the under-privileged, their complete lack of empathy towards other people's pain, their obvious me first ruthless ambitiousness, their aggressive defensiveness towards differing views, the shallowness of their pathetic exultations and accusations, the insincerity of their relationships, or is it simply that deep within the dark recesses of their being they have no heart? I don't know, but the inappropriateness of their choice of what to wear is equal to their abominable political choices.
Peace
Palin the Hypocrite, Discriminatory, Socialistic, big government, welfare extended family, single industry taxation, non-Patriotic, and un-American spend happy x-tian riech! Let us explore each one of my points and review Palin’s history and pattern of behavior!
1) Palin eloped to marry at 24. Daughter getting knocked up at 16 and having a baby at 17. Hypocrite Palin is the epitome of inappropriate behavior and non-abstinence. The major city in USA are have horrific issues with republican dumping of their own mentally retarded and emotionally-mentally damaged children and adults into their inner city infrastructure. Unplanned underage pregnancy is a certainty of poverty existence for mother and child in most American cities and a financial burden on our social infrastructure. Palin has preached abstinence when she and her daughter did not practice abstinence. At 40 years of age she decided not to practice abstinence or protected sex and produced a retarded child. Every medical journal state having a child over 40 have very high probability of producing a genetically damaged child. It was not “God” who had unprotected sex; it was she and her husband ill-responsible action, with a pregnancy fetish, they decided to take off her cloth and have unprotected sex and did not abstained then produced a retarded child! Then she had the audacity to cut funding to the average person in Alaska and teen mothers. Here is her line item veto in her hand writing. If Palin's retarded child is track throughout life to adulthood; that child will become a ward of the state and a welfare case; because this is the pattern of behavior by republicans. Palin will dump her own adult child to preserve her finances, abrogate her responsibility and dump her ill-responsible debt on society. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/02/palin_slashed_funding_to_help.html
2) Palin practice discriminatory distribution of state tax funds. Palin, her extended families are all government employees or contracted to work with the government and or funding by government. Therefore her cuttings of funding for underprivileged teen mothers are nothing more than discrimination against those not within her x-tian reich circles! When one look at the state of Alaska with one of the largest employer being government and/or government contractors; she is running a Socialistic Big Government Welfare Extended Family that practice discrimination. How else can Palin explain her $6,600,000,000.00 spending budget in a state with only 640 thousand people, spend $40,000 per family (4) when the per capita income of the state is only $54 thousand? Please perform a simple math on the state of Alaska tax revenue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska
3) Palin has no experience handling a diversified income stream of most states; Alaska is a mono-industry tax revenue surplus state in which she practice discriminatory distribution of funds based on her x-tian reich inner circle. She has no experience with diversity in industry or people in our United States of America.
4) Palin is non-Patriotic and un-American in support for Alaska succession from the United States of America when she joined the Alaska Independent Party. How can you support succession of Alaska from United States and call yourself patriotic or American?
5) Palin and all the republicans during this week’s speech literally plagiarized and lifted entire passages from Hitler, Hemmler, Goring’s speeches and Mien Kampf. They may have altered a few of the verbs and adjectives to soften the message but the content is a direct lifting of passages. Palin and the republican party are the x-tian riech! “Positive Christianity” before country, Socialistic, selective discrimination, nationalistic are all attributes of Palin’s selection as Vice President makes her an x-tian reich!! Please review Hitler, Hemmer, Goring and Mien Kampf then overlay the republican party speech content of passages onto the Nazi party speeches and philosophy; they mirrors each other!!
“If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued,” Biden said during a campaign event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, according to ABC.
“[N]ot out of vengeance, not out of retribution,” he added, “out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president — no one is above the law.”
tylinCA said it earlier. "We as "commies" do things that are for the common good."

You've altered Johne's post. Typical tactics from the right. Cheat to win. But it's interesting that Republicans equate helping others to communism. It explains why they didn't do anything in New Orleans after Katrina.
The second thing is more insidious: Steve Schmidt has decided, for tactical reasons, to slime the press. He wants the public to believe that there is an unfair–sexist (you gotta love it)–personal assault going on against Palin and her family. This is a smokescreen, intended to divert attention from the very real and responsible vetting that is taking place in the media–about the substance of Palin’s record as mayor and governor.
There is a tendency in the media to kick ourselves, cringe and withdraw, when we are criticized. But I hope my colleagues stand strong in this case: it is important for the public to know that Palin raised taxes as governor, supported the Bridge to Nowhere before she opposed it, pursued pork-barrel projects as mayor, tried to ban books at the local library and thinks the war in Iraq is “a task from God.” The attempts by the McCain campaign to bully us into not reporting such things are not only stupidly aggressive, but unprofessional in the extreme.
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/09/04/joe-klein-is-pissed-and-rightfully-so/
Hooray!! A new thread. The media is very interesting. I know their grammar is not perfect but their math skills are really abysmal. MSNBC says that Paling drew 36,000 viewers last night, almost topping Obama's audience (40,000). I would say 90% almost topped it.
“Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown,” Ms. Palin told the delegates in a speech that sought to eviscerate Mr. Obama, as delegates waved signs that said “I love hockey moms.” “And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.”As the crowd cheered its approval, Ms. Palin went on: “I might add that in small towns we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening.”
on the last thread, there was a post from a gal who said her husband has made up his mind and has decided to go with Obama. I wonder how many last night, made the switch from McSame to Obama? Will there be some sort of poll on that?
I told you about my boss - a die hard Republican making the switch too.
I guess when you have nothing to run on, people do notice!
McSame is now into complete lockdown mode, before he goes into full meltdown. He has canceled a photo op with Habitat for Humanity today because he
1) wants to avoid the press, and
2) wants to avoid being seen in front of a housing assistance program.
3) Can't be seen approving a "Community Organization" after (as Stephanie Miller calls her) "Carribou Barbie" dissed them last night.
How anti-press is the McCain campaign? They just canceled a Habitat for Humanity PHOTO OP. Because it has to do with "houses"? Go figure!Indeed. How could McCain maintain his sense of press victimization against the backdrop of people building homes for people who look forward to being able to one day say, "I know exactly how many homes I own! One! Just the one!"
Posted by BlueinIdaho on September 4, 2008 at 03:18 PM
You can't really blame McCain for being angry at the press for doing their job. After all, it's been more than 8 years since the majority of them have done it. God bless Helen Thomas, wherever she is.
Good Afternoon Good Dem's,.....So far, John McCain's "Hail Mary" pass from his own ten yard line is the desperate act of a desperate man. Throwing the ball down field like that is poor judgment when it gets intercepted and run back for a touch down! It will demoralize McCain's team. Right now the ball is still up in the air, but not for long, soon Palin will have to stand on her own without a script and without a friendly audience. That's when the ball will be intercepted and the game will be over.

Like Chicago did mine last night, but I did add marks " " showing the change in reference to the comment.
DPD,
I knew it was for ex-Soviet Georgia. Doesn't Congress have a say in this?
My husband, at the age of 65, has finally registered to vote. The possibility of 4 more years, with all that he has worked for all his life rapidly disappearing, has scared the bejeebers out of him. Needless to say, he will be casting his vote with me for Obama despite the fact that we both supported Hillary in the primary.

It's clean for now. Perhaps the trolls are still cleaning the fecal material out of their ears...
ST. PAUL, Minn. – People: Make up your minds. For two days, the chorus from Republicans on TV news and in the halls of the convention has been resounding: Back off and let the Palin family be. "That's out of bounds," said Minnesota's Republican governor, Tim Pawlenty. "There's no need to be intrusive and pry into that." Yet Wednesday found the following scenes unfolding: _Sarah Palin's pregnant, unmarried 17-year-old daughter and probable future son-in-law stood in a nationally televised, politically packaged airport receiving line to meet and greet the Republican candidate for president.
Yep - we can't talk about the mom and her promiscuous child but they sure can...
The republicans sure like to dish it out but they sure can't take it can they.
Now they're going after the media big time. I wonder if the media will fight back now that they have been portrayed. You know, that same media that pandered to the right for a long 8 years while we on the left keep yelling for them to ask the right questions? Guess all that ass kissing from the MSM didn't help them after all.
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Democrats shot back at GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Thursday, saying her convention speech was laden with partisan attacks but devoid of substantive answers about where the Republican ticket would take the nation
Biden, speaking from Virginia Beach, Va., on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," quickly added: "Last night, what we heard was a lot of partisan attacks and no real solutions."
"I didn't hear a single word about health care. I didn't hear a single word about education," he said. "I didn't hear a single substantive thing."
"Gov. Palin, I think, did a good job last night. ... She mastered the words written by the Bush speechwriters and clearly delivered them well," Sebelius said. "What we heard last night was a lot of partisan attacks and no real solutions."
The surrogates for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said that Palin's assaults were aimed at diverting attention from campaign issues such as the economy
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/loyal_opposition
How many times do the Repugs think they can come out and just attack without any ideas of their own before the American Public says ENOUGH!
OF COURSE Limbaugh says the polls mean nothing now! IT IS BECAUSE OBAMA IS AHEAD AND HE IS CRAPPING HIS UNDERWEAR!!!
Anybody got a problem with a Community Organizer?
The man is a saint and demonstrates the gulf that exists between an evangelical fundamentalist and a person who truly has a relationship with God.
What would Jesus Do?
"So here is what Giuliani and Palin didn't know: Obama was working for a group of churches that were concerned about their parishioners, many of whom had been laid off when the steel mills closed on the south side of Chicago. They hired Obama to help those stunned people recover and get the services they needed--job training, help with housing and so forth--from the local government. It was, dare I say it, the Lord's work--the sort of mission Jesus preached (as opposed to the war in Iraq, which Palin described as a "task from God.")

Couldn't have said it better, Dave. The neoconservative Bibel thumpers wouldn't recognize Jesus if he came to them carrying Moses and Mary. Thew would likely tell him to get a job and quit his whining.
Earmarks??? If you want earmarks, you move to Alaska. Is it any wonder she is an expert at earmarks? Can she speak with authority on earmarks??
Fuckin' A Skippy...this veep candidate knows earmarks better than any candidate.
"Fiscal year 2008 was the first year for which there was a complete listing of all earmarks contained in all appropriation bills. That information was loaded into several databases, including the one developed by Taxpayers for Common Sense. According to that data, the average state got about $50 per person in earmarked funds in 2008. Alaska, represented by Ted Stevens, the Senate’s earmarker-in-chief, got $506 per person—about 10 times the national average. Wasilla between 2000 and 2003 was getting well over $1,000 per person—twice the Alaska state average in 2008.
Palin practice discriminatory distribution of state tax funds. Palin, her extended families are all government employees or contracted to work with the government and or funding by government. Therefore her cuttings of funding for underprivileged teen mothers are nothing more than discrimination against those not within her x-tian reich circles

heya Blue - yep it got pretty deep in here with those trolls creatures. They should be home watching their convention. Oh wait that's right - nobodies watching that convention. I forgot!
They should call the Republican convention - Grumpy Old Men Convention. What's her name reminds me that most of the grumpy old men probably got a little wood and that's why they like her..
sorry - I had to say that..snicker
As long as they are earning money drawing responses here, they will continue posting. Can you believe that anyone would sit at a computer 24/7 to post so many negative and insulting comments just for the fun of it? Every time you respond, they hear ka-ching!!
Kathy, please do not pay attention to those who post negative remarks, can you imagine what type of lives they have to have to log in to this blog and continually bait people with their comments.

John, we live in a little 1700 sq. ft. rent house. Last month my electricity bill was $584, this month, almost $500. Thats over a $1000 in just two months! Bush sends a billion dollars of our money to Georgia? By whose authority? When are Americans going to be FIRST in line to benefit from American tax payer dollars?
Domestic Terrorism and the Collapse of American Democracy
The greatest threat to United States democracy comes from within rather then from a foreign invader. The extremist Christian theocracy demanded by supporters and elected representatives of the Republican Party is the far greater threat then the extremist Islamic theocracy demanded by Al-Qaeda on an international scale.
In general terms the republican assault on our democracy constitutes an insidious form of domestic terrorism much alike in strategy of the foreign invaders. Each organization demonstrates utter disregard for the rule of law, uses well choreographed propaganda and misinformation to deliver their key messages, includes large numbers of civilian casualties as acceptable losses, engages in torture, has no regard for the sovereignty of other nations caught up in the conflict and each wishes to crush the existing recognized form of government in their respective countries.
In more specific terms, there are many examples of the shared tactics used by republicans and al-qaeda. Both attacked other nations without cause, inflicting thousands of civilian casualties, justify their actions based upon a philosophy of extremist ideologies and religious zealotry, wrongfully imprisoned, unfairly prosecuted and convicted their assumed enemies, exclude or subordinate citizens on the basis of race, gender, sexual preference and religion, are eager to sacrifice soldiers lives to further their immoral cause and both have the implicit approval of those who profit financially from their actions.
The republicans exceed the tactical sophistication of al-qaeda in a variety of ways by using the power of elected office and political appointees to further their cause. Working from within and funded by the special interests of big business and evangelical groups, the republicans are able to wage a continuous assault upon the constitutional rights of American citizens. The republicans engage in illegal wiretaps, political litmus tests for judicial appointments, attempt to undermine or overturn existing laws contrary to their beliefs, smear the reputations of political opponents by unethical campaign tactics and the funding of radical 527 groups to spread lies, rumor and innuendo, disregard scientific environmental proof of the mad-made effects of global warming to protect their big business contributors and enact unconstitutional laws and regulations through after-hours presidential signing statements.
The 21st century of domestic terrorism was ushered in by the domestic terrorism and treason of everyone who voted for President Bush. It was well documented prior to the 2000 presidential election that George Bush was unfit for pubic office. His record of dishonesty, failure to honorably complete his military service, repeated acts of corporate malfeasance, his total lack of respect for human life and his religious zealotry, all combined to overwhelmingly disqualify him from the presidency. In fact, he exemplified such a complete lack of personal integrity and character that it should have convinced all americans that he was to be prevented from holding even the most modest of political office.
In spite of all his shortcomings, over 50 million voters turned a blind eye and committed an overt act of treason by casting their vote for him. The illegitimacy and criminality of his first term in office was born of this treason and sanctified by the corrupt actions of republican members of the Supreme Court regarding the falsification of the Florida recount and thereby conspiring with Bush to deny Al Gore his rightfully elected presidency.
The monumental act of voting treason was repeated in the 2004 presidential election even though President Bush had committed many acts of incompetence and corruption during his first term. He had failed to protect America from the documented intelligence information warning of the September 11th attacks. He used falsified intelligence information to justify the war against Iraq, knowing full well that the Iraq government had no connection to al-qaeda, no weapons of mass destruction, no connection to the Sept. 11th attacks and posed no security threat to America.
President Bush and his political and corporate co-conspirators also engaged in massive war profiteering through the use of no-bid contracts to private contractors supportive of republicans. He raided the treasury with massive government spending, thereby erasing the healthy budget surplus that existed when he took office and replacing it with massive budget deficits and huge increases in our national debt. He further decreased our national solvency by legislating massive income tax deductions for wealthy Americans, thereby rewarding his wealthy republican supporters.
He failed to take even the smallest of actions aimed at solving the social problems of poverty, education, health care and racial injustice. He did nothing to neither acknowledge nor fight the effects of global warming, going so far as to utilize oil industry executives to help Vice President Chaney write and preserve a destructive national energy policy dependent upon foreign oil.
His biggest, longest ongoing and most immoral crime is the continuing killing and maiming of thousands of brave U.S. Soldiers and Iraqi civilians in an endless war. A war he knows was wrong from the beginning. A war he justified based upon the conspiracy and lies that he presented to congress and to the American people. A war that fully distracted our military and a united global community from capturing, convicting and punishing Bin Laden and his supporters for the crimes of Sept 11th. A war that further emboldened the Islamic Jihad and ultimately strengthened the terrorist cause. An ill-planned and poorly executed war of tremendous military sacrifice and massive cost that history will judge as the most heinous act of treason ever committed by an American president.
The list goes on and on of the crimes committed by the Bush administration. Crimes he was only able to commit by way of the treasonous act of electing him to a second term. Now the republican party has put forth the ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin as the republican nominees for president and vice president in the 2008 presidential election. Their platform attempts to somehow magically separate them from the failed Bush policies and yet is intent upon continuing his failed policies for the next four years. Their message of change, driven by their imaginary maverick personas, as scripted by Karl Rove, resonates excitedly with the republican faithful. They cheer and applaud the mocking and insulting republican rhetoric aimed at their democratic challengers. Undaunted by the idiocy of their party and candidates, they march toward election day, blindly intent on once again committing the treasonous act of voting for their republican candidates.
Willfully they chose an aged Bush clone as president and a completely unqualified woman, straight from a Stepford casting call, as vice-president. They chose this comical pair to safeguard our democracy and protect us from harm. Self-righteously guided by ignorance, ideology and religious belief, they are unaware or unconcerned about the severity of their pending act of electoral treason. An act of terrorism greater then anything that al-qaeda could accomplish. An act injected into the American political process that will have an incredibly harmful effect upon our democracy.
The birthplace of civil disobedience and political revolution are created by the corrupt acts of those possessing economic or religious power in society. As the power gets concentrated in the hands of fewer people, so does political power, and public policies tend increasingly to reflect the desires of the few. The religious and wealth-based entrenched republican political system that we are currently suffering from will ultimately cause the collapse of our democracy if left unchecked.
The gap between the haves and the have-nots will one day grow so great as to extinguish hope and instill anger in the masses.
Even today, American frustration, suffering and anger grows more heated towards the economic power of the republican party, thereby forming the inspiration for increased civil disobedience and political revolution.
History shows that the most timid sheep angrily transform into wolves to revolt against their oppressors. History also proves that governments most certainly collapse when their lies fail to at least maintain the illusion of benevolence towards the least of their flock. No amount of money or power can contain the masses forever. The republicans would be wise to heed this warning and abandon their political, religious and economic assault upon our democracy.
IT IS BECAUSE OBAMA IS AHEAD AND HE IS CRAPPING HIS UNDERWEAR!!!

So is it correct to say that there are good Christians and bad Christians?
The good Christians help their fellow human beings while the bad Christians want to blow everyone up that doesn't believe how they believe?

You could ask the electric company to send a person out to check your house and determine what is eating up so much electricity. You could have a defective appliance or even a defective meter. My bill for August is almost $100 and I think that is high since we don't use the air conditioner and I've been hanging the laundry outside. We are running two refrigerators and one freezer and have an electric oven. $500 for one month is over the top. Check it out!!!
pam - I'm trying to find that video about Ms. Northern Exposure when she said she didn't know what a VP does.
Do you have it and can you post it?
sorry - I had to say that..snicker

I'll bet the old farts at the convention are all "dirty old men" like mcgeezer. They love to look but are too damn old to perform unless limpbaugh is illegally selling them viagra.

Doo-Bee: I bet there won't be any real question and answer opportunities for the press to talk to these two. I don't think you're going to see too much of either McInsane or Pit-Bull Barbie in any situation that would call for them to come up with answers of their own.
McInsane is already suffering from a bad case of foot in mouth disease brough on by his senile dementia, and 'ol Pit-Bull is likely to go off on one of those rabid Jesus wants us to destroy whoever rants and blow the entire campaign even farther out of the water than it has been blown up to now.
I'm betting that the RNC will even try to weasel out of any debates between those two and Obama and Biden.
What a pair to draw to! No wonder the dumb butt trollies are changing their names! ROTFL!!!
Last for the day...many roads to travel.
The Republican Convention is one great big Yawn. We've all seen this shit before. Islamo fundies, terrorists, Axis of Evil's, Elevated Terror alerts...WTF??
There is a segment of the american population that will always respond to the big stick, kick em' in the ass rhetoric. It is just something we all have to live with.
However...those same tough talkers are generally more bullshit than substance. Like the neighborhood bullies. Lot's of talk until you kick their ass and watch them go home crying.
The upside is that most of them are just as fucked as we are economically. HIgh gas prices, stripped of any wealth and no health care benefits.
Whatever. I still predict that John McBush will suffer the biggest loss by a republican in a presidential election. We are all going to the polls with our wallets and that's what we will be voting for.
Sarah Palin....pleeeez. Let's see her without a teleprompter and without a prepared address. the media is going to have a field day with her. Particularly after she pissed them off!!
JohnBoy,
Have your meter checked like frances suggests.
My highest bill this year was $185 for electricity and I have two roof air conditioners, irrigation and am on a well. My propane is a different
story .
I had the opposite problem. The coop reads the meters remotely through the power lines. For two or three months I thought my bill was low and got to looking at the bill and I was being billed for exactly 500 KW each month. I called and come to find out the battery in the meter was dead. Of course I had to pay the difference. I am glad I caught it in time.
Richardson is giving us a rebate for the high cost of fuel. NM has a lot of gas and oil and is rolling in dough. Shouldn't Texas be giving you guys a rebate too.
should call the Republican convention - Grumpy Old Men Convention. What's her name reminds me that most of the grumpy old men probably got a little wood and that's why they like her.. sorry - I had to say that..snicker Posted by Kathy_from_Indiana on September 4, 2008 at 03:46 PM
I got more:
The reason why they like what's her name is because - of the few women there - have you seen some of them.
I mean botox should set up a booth there - they'd make a fortune!
The beauty shops ran out of blue.
Bras must not be in with that crowd.
The following is an excerpt from:
http://www.energybulletin.net/node/9657
Just to remind a 'certain few' what really happened.
(Note: Credible experts and sources are actually identified and quoted - not some no-name blogger who is just expressing an unfounded and profoundly stupid opinion.)
Carter faced a crisis from a combination of economic problems, failed policies of his predecessors and, finally, an Iranian revolution that cut access to some Middle Eastern oil.
Carter met the problems by starting sweeping oil-reduction reforms, including creation of the Cabinet-level Department of Energy.
He began spending millions of dollars researching alternative sources for electrical power, including solar power. He got utilities to cut their use of oil for electricity and ramp up their use of natural gas or coal.
"Up until Carter, we were getting about 20 percent of our electricity from oil generation," said Jay Hakes, director of the Energy Information Administration under Carter and an authority on modern presidents and oil. "And post-Carter, it went down to about 3 percent."
Carter insisted that U.S. automakers build more fuel-efficient cars, with a goal of 27.5 miles per gallon over the following decade - a requirement passed under Gerald Ford but put into force by Carter.
He offered incentives for getting oil from shale, creating a boom initially in the Rockies - and a bust when it failed to be cost-effective. He offered deductions for using solar water heaters in homes and commercial buildings.
"People in the upper-income bracket were always looking for tax cuts. They were going to build a house anyhow, so they were saying, 'Well let's look at this solar stuff and see what we can do,' " said Marc Giaccardo, a professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio who at the time was an Albuquerque architect.
Carter even had solar collec tors installed on the White House grounds to heat the executive residence's water.
Then Carter lost re-election to Ronald Reagan in 1980. The so lar panels at the White House eventually came down - and Reagan and his aides gutted the solar research program.
"In June or July of 1981, on the bleakest day of my professional life, they descended on the Solar Energy Research Institute, fired about half of our staff and all of our contractors, including two people who went on to win Nobel prizes in other fields, and reduced our $130 million budget by $100 million," recalls Denis Hayes, the founder of Earth Day, who had been hired by Carter to spearhead the solar initiative.
Reagan and Congress stopped aggressively pushing new auto efficiency standards, acceding to Detroit's desire to leave them at Carter-era levels. They let the solar tax benefit expire, and the nascent solar industry went belly- up.
It was time to let the markets work their magic and stop all this government tinkering, Reagan and conservatives said.
Bad stuff? A recipe for the fix we're in today?
A number of environmentalists and conservationists say so.
Although the corporate average fuel economy, or CAFE, standards already were saving 3 million barrels a day, "they could be saving us a further 3 million or 4 million barrels a day" if they had been ramped up, says Dan Becker, director of the Sierra Club's global-warming project.
That would be enough to compensate for Katrina or for disruptions in supply from Venezuela and Nigeria in the last year or so, Becker says. "We could be saving more oil than we now import from the Persian Gulf had the government acted to raise the fuel economy."
Every president since Carter has refused or been obstructed by Congress - which is lobbied by automakers and unions that fear losing jobs. When Americans want sheer size, they buy American, but when they want fuel efficiency, they tend to buy Japanese.
Meantime the nation began its love affair with sport utility vehicles, which are classified as light trucks, not automobiles, and have a lower standard of 20.7 miles to the gallon. That's scheduled to go up to 22.2 miles per gallon by 2007. In August, Bush announced a plan to raise it to 23.5 miles by 2010, but critics call that inadequate - and some moderate Republicans agree.
New York Republican Rep. Sherwood Boehlert introduced legislation in September that would require a 33 mile-per-gallon average for cars and SUVs in the next decade. While anything is possible, a majority in his party has previously rejected these measures.
Meantime, the solar energy industry is hopeful - not because of anything that occurred in the White House after Carter, but because the 2005 energy bill, signed by Bush, will give up to $2,000 in tax credits for anyone installing solar energy in a home. The credits begin next January, although they will be available for only two years unless Congress extends them.
Solar-energy champions say such a boost was needed 20 years ago, as the Carter tax credits were expiring. "The solar water heating industry instantly went from a billion-dollar industry to an industry that now installs, in the U.S., about 6,000 solar hot water heaters a year," said Noah Kaye, spokesman for the Solar Energy Industries Association.
Had Reagan not squashed it, the research that Carter started could have triggered a substantial shift to solar, wind power and other renewable forms of energy - possibly providing as much as 25 percent of the nation's electricity supply, says Hayes, the Carter solar expert.
"We were all aware of what in theory could happen by the year 2000, and it occasionally comes back and haunts us," Hayes said.
Stocks started off this morning down - does anyone know how the rest of the day went?
Ok here it is:
3:30 pm : The trading session is nearing its close and stocks have failed to show meaningful improvement. Losses remain deep and broad-based.
ummmm - looks like they didn;t like Ms. Alaska either.
Jimmy Carter is a good man, but...
a DREDFUL President!
Oh Gawd, these repugs will believe anything...
Sarah Palin delivered a powerful speech last night, but she did not "wing it."
Which is what Erick Erickson, citing sources close to McCain, has written on his blog, RedState.
Erickson writes that "the Teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Gov. Palin was in the speech."
This claim has been picked up on Drudge and could quickly enter into the insta-mythmaking about a speech that need not be embroidered.
Perhaps there were moments where it scrolled slightly past her exact point in the speech. But I was sitting in the press section next to the stage, within easy eyeshot of the Teleprompter. I frequently looked up at the machine, and there was no serious malfunction. A top convention planner confirms this morning that there were no major problems.

I'm just wondering why Hawaii, where Obama hails from, is foreign and exotic but Alaska, home to Palin, is just another state in the U.S. of A.?
Good day dems,
Amazing performance in intolerance and partisanship and unreality by Palin last night. Just like fixed news?
Is that all the rehab party have left, to try to sex-up the lies and distortions because the have aught else? Taking their mo from a BS-news network: "fair and balanced" laughing stock pundit poseurs. They are just desperate and cynical and still greedy, but doomed by Junior and Shotgun, the constitution-shredding torturers.
Kathy, do you think that Ms. Alaska will have a earpiece for her debates? Otherwise, there is not enough time to Eliza Doolittle this beauty queen to get her ready to face off against those that actually know the job they're applying for.
I read somewhere that this is all some Ashton Kutcher punk'd prank on America....I'm not so sure. I have a feeling it's a large scale episode of MTV's "Made".
BO is OH-SO good without a telepropter
Uh, uh, are, uh, uh, uh, um. That's -- that's a bunch -- so -- so let me tick these off. Deh... Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, um, uh. So the issue is not a perception that, uh... Weh, weh, let me put it this way. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, We're -- we're trying to -- you know, we've got a bipartisan group here and -- and -- and, uh, uh, uh, uh, um, uh, uh, uh.
I'd love to see Palin and BO go head to head!

CNN - 7 hours ago Delegates applaud during the opening session of the Republican National Convention. Thirty-six of the 2380 Republican delegates are black, according to the ... African Americans lacking in Republican delegation guardian.co.uk
Oh my - just 36 black people there while the whites were 2,380 (if that).
My questionis - why were there 36 black people even there? The repukes don't like blacks. These 36 must have really felt out of place! They need to come home where they are welcomed...
Pulin calls herself a "Maverick". A maverick is a feral horse released upon public land distroying resources and consuming natural and public resources with disregard for native plants and animals! Maverick and feral animals need to be distroyed to protect the natural resources of this country!
Blue - lol or so very funny!
If Ms. Alaska needs a pat down before her debate, I'd keep my eye on McGeezer... he'll probably be the one that does it.
I don't think this time we'll let any repuke go into a debate with any devices like Bush did. No way. I think they would just stop the whole thing until the repuke was patted down clean.
Hi Tom:
Pam posted this on the earlier thread but it bears repeating:

Well, I used to work for Philadelphia Electric Co long before it became PECO. I was in the accounting department (yes, they used to do it all manually) and we saw many discrepancies. Back then, before nuclear power made electricity "too cheap to meter", it was 10 cents for the first 14 KWH and got cheaper after that. I thing the minimum charge back then was $3.00 per month. Good luck.
It's quitn' time - bye for now!

The VPOTUS has two constitutional obligations. The first is to check daily into the health of the POTUS. The second is to preside over the Senate.
And if your Dick Cheney, the perceived third obligation is to plot the destruction of the American way of life and liberty.

Indeed it is, Mary. Good to see you, too.
As I pointed out, Sarah Palin’s partisan screed activated the Republican base, but while it probably turned off the middle and other independents, it also activated the Democratic base. I’m hearing that since Palin’s speech, Obama’s campaign has pulled in around $8 million — and growing.
Keep it up, Mrs. Separatist.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton says, “Sarah Palin’s attacks have rallied our supporters in ways we never expected. And we fully expect John McCain’s attacks tonight to help us make our grassroots organization even stronger.”
Yes, we can. Backlash is a bitch.

This was the worst of what America has to offer-- and they're damn proud of it. And they were just waitin' for their gal Sarah, or at least for whatever the speechwriters had put in her mouth. No one in the hall was disappointed.
The National and Alaska pushback on Palin's meretricious speech, and its exaggerations and outright lies is going to be assisted by the increasingly focused products of the legion of local, national and international reporters looking into Palin's record, and the Palins' past. The Alaska press, already on overload trying to cover the continually unfolding and expanding saga of the Corrupt Bastards' Club, are going to be confronted with fielding the results of investigative journalism that refuses to go softball, and is unattenuated by editors and publishers, who just want to get along with the still-healthy core of Alaska's corrupt political paradigm.

Palin is getting pounded by the National Enquirer, of all fitting places. And the bloggers are having a field day. But is this a too easy and contrived distraction?
The big story is Cheney is countering Putin in attempting to arm Georgia, his Iran invasion plan dream going up in smoke with no oily residue. Russia has warned that that would be an act of war -real War.
If you are a Catholic, you should be outraged over palin's mockery of Obama'w work!
Palin criticized for mocking community organizing
The group Catholic Democrats today issued a strong rebuke of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s sarcastic mocking of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s work as a community organizer during the 1980s.
“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities,” Palin, former mayor of a small town in Alaska, said during her speech to the Republican National Convention Sept. 3 in St. Paul, Minn.
The speech by Palin, currently governor of Alaska, followed one by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also belittled Obama’s work as a community organizer, drawing laughs from the assembled Republicans.
“It is shocking that a vice presidential candidate would disparage an essential component of the Catholic social tradition with her condescending attack on urban community organizing,” said Dr. Patrick Whelan, president of Catholic Democrats, an association of state-based groups advancing understanding of Catholic social teaching.
The group criticized Palin for mocking Obama’s work “in the 1980s for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.” The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is an arm of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and it partially funded Obama’s activities in Catholic parishes on the South Side of Chicago. At the time it was known simply as the Campaign for Human Development.
Community organizing was work Obama undertook “instead of pursuing a lucrative career on Wall Street,” according to a statement from Catholic Democrats.

Fake, Phony, Pretend Republicans!!!!!!!
It was a video that was supposed to elicit soaring patriotism and real emotions about the Pledge of Allegiance. But to do that, it used fake soldiers and a staged military funeral instead of the real thing.
...................
There’s the Continental Congress…A real WWII vet…Photos of workers at Ground Zero. A close-up of a folded flag presented to a grieving widow at a military funeral… profiles of soldiers swelling with pride in slo-motion.
But CBS News found that the footage of the ‘funeral’ and soldiers is what is called ‘stock’ footage. The soldiers were actors and the funeral scene was from a one-day film shoot, produced in June. No real soldiers were used during production.
The footage, sold by stock-film house Getty Images was produced by a commercial filmmaker in Chicago. Both Getty and the production company, Mr. Big Films, confirmed that the footage was shot on spec and sold to the Republican National Committee.

Pam,
"No real soldiers were used". Wish we could say the same about their fake war.
No real soldiers were used in the creation of the GOP, that's for sure.
McCain equals more of the same rovian politics and failed republican policy's we've surfed under over the past 7 1/2 years of complete Republican domination in Washington, D.C.. shall we invoke the name of Herbert Hoover? oh, I forgot, we must not bash or say hurtful truths towards republicans at this moment, it might hurt their feelings. remember the republican vision of a ownership society? sounds kind of racy doesnt it? what it really turned out to be is republican members only stalinist style social club, where the top 10% are the haves and the Average American zip, zero, no jobs worth a sh_t! No hope and where nobody gives a damned -- Welcome to McBushville, U.S.A. 2008*!!!!
betcha if Palin loses and has to go back and live in Alaska, she will regret this move, seeing as now she has her own special needs kid that will have needs.......
"For those of you who seem so enamored with Gov. Sarah Palin, it might be worth noting that she oversees the budget for the Department of Education and Early Development Special Schools in Alaska.
These funds provide supplementary educational services to students with severe disabling conditions and the Alaska Challenge Youth Academy. The resident school where the child would normally be placed does not have the resources to provide an adequate educational program. Without the supplementary services the child’s needs would not be met by the local school district in most cases.
The following programs are included within this component:
Special Education Service Agency (SESA)
The Annual budget for 2007, which preceded Gov. Palin was $8,265,300.
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb/07_OMB/budget/EED/comp27...
The Annual budget for 2008, enacted by Gov. Palin is $3,156,000.

The Annual budget for 2009, enacted by Gov. Palin is $3,156,000.
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb/09_omb/budget/EED/comp27...
This is a cut in special needs services to children in Alaska of 5,109,300 , or 62%."

the little Bimbo is just another Republican corrupt creep for the Republican Wall of Shame!
From NBC's Aram Roston and Amna Nawaz
The GOP candidate for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, may be facing yet another ethics investigation back in her home state of Alaska.
An ethics complaint obtained by NBC News was filed yesterday by the police officers' union in Alaska, requesting a probe into possible wrongdoing by the governor or her office. It was brought on behalf of state trooper, Mike Wooten, the ex-brother in law of Palin, who is at the center of the "Troopergate" scandal.
The complaint alleges that the governor or her staff may have have improperly disclosed information from Wooten's personnel records. The complaint alleges "criminal penalties may apply."

Army says suicides likely setting record again

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Army says suicide among soldiers appears to be rising again this year, after setting a record in 2007. So far this year, there are 62 confirmed suicides among active duty soldiers and Guard and Reserve troops called to active duty. Another 31 deaths appear to be suicides but are still being investigated.
Officials say that if all are confirmed, that means that the number of suicides in 2008 could surpass those of last year, when there were 115 - the highest on record.

Hi Pam - How are you?
The republicans have one thing right, we need a leader in the White House who can bring a new perspective to a government too set in its ways to adapt. John McCain, however, with his 26 years in the Senate, is a part of the problem not the solution.
It is not about experience this time around. It's about changing the way Americans relate to the rest of the world so that we may curb the loss of jobs and revenue to foreign competitors. John McCain's reliance upon the threat of military action will only hinder that process, just as military action in the Middle East has historically complicated the trade of goods and services between those nations and our own. (For instance, more than 700 Billion dollars was spent on foreign oil last year, primarily from the Middle East. That is three times as much as was spent in 2000.)
No, the question is certainly not, "Who has more experience dealing with the Middle East and others, but who offers a strategy for dealing with the Middle East and the rest of the world that might produce better results than John McCain's status quo approach. I think Barrack Obama fits that bill nicely.
No real soldiers were used". Wish we could say the same about their fake war
They never talk about how many of those Pretend Blackwater soldiers gets killed or maimed! And they are paid probably 10 times as much as our 18 year old kids.

Maybe we could make a deal with Putin to sieze him and send him to a Gulag in Siberia.

"Democracy Now!" host and journalist Amy Goodman is seized by St. Paul police.
"Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost."
- Thomas Jefferson.
How in the world can this happen? How in the world can citizens remain ensconced in their homes watching "American Idol" when a true American, who should be idolized, is getting arrested for nothing more than asking a few questions?
Amy Goodman, who hosts one of the rare alternative news programs in the country, "Democracy Now," is not known for attracting attention to herself.
She is not a Bill O'Reilly, shouting and screaming at anyone who disagrees. She is a journalist who loves diverse voices and putting events into perspective - helping American citizens get the information they need to make informed decisions.
Yesterday, Goodman witnessed and experienced something very frightening that likely was not mentioned on your local news.
During the opening of the Republican National Convention, she was arrested for asking police where her two producers were. They had been arrested, and because SHE asked a question police did not like, she was arrested too.
After more than 20 years as a journalist, Goodman was doing what reporters are supposed to do. She was gathering news inside the Republican National Convention as well as seeking opposing views outside. Heavens to Betsy - a real journalist telling both sides!
The video of a demure Goodman walking into a group of police who were dressed in riot gear - looking like guards outside a dictator's palace - is surreal. It also convinced me that Republicans would love to provoke citizens practicing their constitutional right of civil disobedience into acting like misguided idiots. Then the mass media, which have been lifting pom-poms for the Bush administration for years, can blame them and make them look like lunatics worthy only of dismissal.
Look out, the Republican Wall of Shame is going to have to be enlarged, as the new names come out!!!
Abramoff sentenced to four years in prison
Abramoff is already serving a nearly six-year prison sentence for a fraudulent Florida casino deal.
Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of less than four years for the Washington case. Defense lawyers say he deserves even less time. Since pleading guilty in 2006, Abramoff has provided the Justice Department evidence that helped send Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, and former Deputy Interior Secretary J. Steven Griles to prison.
Abramoff said his cooperation has been extensive. Not only did he confirm what prosecutors knew, he said he also offered new leads and tips, pointed them in different directions and spent countless hours meeting with investigators. Several Capitol Hill aides and powerful political figures have pleaded guilty because of his cooperation.

I just received this email:
Dear ACLU Supporter,
You can’t ignore the Constitution.
For eight years now, that’s what we’ve been telling the Bush administration with every lawsuit we’ve filed . . . every illegal act we’ve exposed . . . every dangerous piece of legislation we’ve challenged.
And now, we’ve got to deliver that same “You can’t ignore the Constitution” message to every candidate running for office in 2008.
The ACLU has come up with a powerful way to make it clear that, for millions of voters all across America, there is nothing more important than protecting the Constitution.
Sign the ACLU’s “I Am a Constitution Voter” pledge and get your free bumper sticker now.
American voters are being buried in a blizzard of speeches, TV ads, emails and phone calls from political candidates. But are they talking about the issues that matter to you?
They’re not debating how quickly to close down Guantánamo and how to do it right. Who will act with energy and conviction to restore our lost liberties? Who will put their foot down to end torture? Who will hold accountable those who condoned illegal activities?
Well, it’s time to introduce a new kind of voter to the political lexicon. And it's time to focus the candidates seeking our votes and the media covering these elections on some fundamental issues involving core American principles.
Sign the ACLU’s “I Am a Constitution Voter” pledge and get your free bumper sticker right now.
On September 17th -- Constitution Day -- the ACLU will officially launch our “I Am a Constitution Voter” campaign.
Our Goal: To make sure that candidates running for office and media outlets covering their campaigns know that there are millions of voters who care deeply about protecting the Constitution and defending the Bill of Rights.
Our Strategy: If we want politicians and the media to focus on protecting the Constitution after the elections, we’ve got to get them to discuss our fundamental freedoms before the elections.
You can help set the stage for our “I Am a Constitution Voter” campaign.
Sign the ACLU’s “I Am a Constitution Voter” pledge and get your free bumper sticker right now.
We’ll be telling you about lots of other ways in which the ACLU is going to make sure the future of our fundamental freedoms is at the center of the debate in the weeks ahead.
But, it all starts with you and other ACLU supporters stepping forward to declare: “I Am a Constitution Voter.”
Let us hear from you. Better still, let them hear from you. Act right now.
In Palin's unreality last night, an al Qaeda resurgence and renewed threat is linked to Obama's and democratic policy, when the reality is al Qaeda is in Iraq, and the US through the military is paying each of them $300/month to not attack US soldiers, and await orders.
This is their idea of victory: reward the terrorists until they can wait the US forces out, and pretend that escalation is effective. Arm and support the Awakening Councils - our trusted allies in the oil-signing-agreements mission. Oh, and put al Qaeda members in the Iraqi police force.
--------
Iraqis take control of Anbar
*********
But Iraqis celebrated the milestone amid growing concerns about a campaign by the Shia-led government of Nouri al-Maliki, prime minister, to restrict the Awakening Councils, groups of former Sunni insurgents, who now co-operate with US troops against al-Qaeda in Iraq. Many believe the Awakening movement has been a key factor in securing Anbar.
The movement began in Anbar and spread across Iraq. More than 100,000 former Sunni insurgents are now part of the Awakening Councils, each receiving about $300 (£165) a month from the US government.
But Shia officials, many who fear the growing political influence of the councils, have attacked the movement as illegitimate and have recently issued more than 650 arrest warrants against members in areas west of Baghdad.
Abu Zakaria, an Awakening leader, said the move by the Iraqi authorities could destroy the security gains in Anbar. "We don't want to see al-Qaeda come back but if this keeps happening, we will be in serious danger of seeing an explosion of attacks," he said.
In western Baghdad's Abu Ghraib district and the province of Diyala north-east of the capital, members of the Awakening have fled their homes and their posts to avoid capture. Residents said that violence had recently increased and members of al-Qaeda in Iraq had returned.
Col. Saadi al-Dulaimy, commander of an Iraqi army battalion west of Baghdad, defended the action, saying that most of the Awakening members were former members of al-Qaeda in Iraq with blood on their hands.
"Today they claim they are part of the Awakening just to escape punishment," he said. US officials said they support the movement, and are trying to encourage the Iraqi government to incorporate members into the army and police.
Cheney is challenging Russia and tweaking Putin's nose. What a bastard. It seems the one billion dollars of our money cheney promised them is to rebuild war damage they inflicted on themselves.
Lousy bastard bush, how about spending a billion on our infrastructure and create a few jobs.
The reason conservative policies don't work is because the world simply isn't built the way conservatives think it is. They talk all the time about '"making it on your own", but the truth is, it's never been that way. And to tell the truth, I feel sorry for anyone who is "on their own". It must be awfully lonely. There is no absolute right and wrong (well, there is, it's just that it only applies to which style of pizza is REAL pizza and how it should be eaten). The way conservatives look at the world simply does not work. Blind obedience does not work because circumstances change. It's why Iraq has failed, it's why every major policy of Republicans has failed over and over again. But Democrats and progressives (notice how I do not say they are one and the same) have failed miserably because they have never appealed to people's HEARTS (yes, i know the heart is just a muscle pumping oxygenated blood to the real center of our being, but since everything is a metaphor, I'm going with it.). Ok, not "never". FDR did it. JFK did it. Lincoln did it (why oh WHY did that man have to be a Republican?) Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Ben Franklin....all these men reached out and touched our HEARTS. Obama can do that, he HAS done it. The problem is, if he doesn't talk issues and policy sometimes, he may lose financial backing from idiot Democrats who have no freaking clue. (I think we have a few of those here, too).
I saw an ad for "Morning Joe" the other day that pissed me off at the time, but the more I think about it, the more I think he was right. It was a clip form when he was talking about the "gas tax holiday" that the Republicans were trying to get passed, and the Democratic reaction to it was like "I don't know why anyone would think this would be a good idea". (He was doing it in a John Kerry/liberal elite type voice, which is probably what REALLY pissed me off.) So then he says "Well of course you don't!" And he's RIGHT! Of course Democrats don't understand it. Maybe if they tried FEELING instead of THINKING...because yes, if you THINK about it, it doesn't really save you any money. But try this, Dems....picture in your mind the sight of the sign at the gas station...now picture the numbers going DOWN. How does that FEEL?
Sarah Palin and those "people" at the convention scared the shit out of me last night at one point. She talked about Obama wanting to read the terrorists their rights in such a mocking tone, and those "people" cheered, like the rights in our Constitution are not basic human rights that need to be applied to everyone, not just citizens of this country. Like the "terrorists" (and THAT also said as if it can be taken for granted that anyone detained IS a "terrorist") aren't human, are even lower than ANIMALS. It scares me that these people can empathize with a few cells grown in a petri dish, but not with a man strung up by his privates and being probed with cattle prods, just because he's dark skinned with dark hair and speaks a language other than English and worships the god of Abraham a bit differently. But Dems and progressives have almost as much of a problem with empathy, from what I've seen here lately
Hell, I don't know if any of this is helpful, but there is one thing I think we need to do...keep hammering home that "on your own" isn't how America works.
I was just reading about John McCain's tax and health plans in an article on CNN.com. The "journalist" of course accepts the conservative frame that taxes are some type of burden from which we need "relief". Taxes are not some burden we need relief from. They are the price we gladly pay to ensure that we can get and do the things we need to live. They pay for our roads, our schools, our banking systems, our courts, our regulatory agencies that keep us safe from soulless corporations. Taxes keep us from having to try and make it "on our own".
Another point that I think needs to be hammered home is about John McCain's "health plan". Obama needs to point out how it is an "on your own" plan. It is designed to force individuals OUT of their employer based health plans and have them buy insurance "on their own". "On your own" is a point that has to be hammered away at over and over again. America is not a country of "On your own". America was created from COMMON dreams and COMMON goals of improving life for EVERYONE here through a government that protects and empowers its citizenry. To paraphrase Tom Hanks, "There's no "on your own" in America!" There is "Howdy neighbor! How can I help you today?" There is no, "Oh, the toxic waste from my factory killed your sheep? Well, sorry, but you're "on your own"." This is a country where the factory owner studied the area beforehand and found a way to ensure his toxic waste wouldn't accidentally hurt anyone. And that would be because our government has set up protections to ensure that the factory does that before allowing him to BUILD his factory. That's PROTECTION. That's what GOVERNMENT does. Conservatives don't want those protections. John McCain doesn't want those protections. Sarah Palin doesn't care who gets hurt or what kind of state or country or world she leaves her descendants as long as SHE gets paid NOW. She doesn't care if people need oxygen tanks from the day they're born as long as her hubby can race his "snow machine" all over the place. Well, it's not your air, it's not your land, Sarah. It belongs to the PEOPLE, and the PEOPLE have a stake in it. We need to have it out there that America is not about making all by yourself.
Btw, y'all might also want to keep in mind that conservatives DO have feelings, and DO feel love and empathy...just happens that it's for a much smaller circle than progressives, and even Democrats. (Once again, notice how those are two different groups to which I refer.)
And go ahead dors, when you read this. You're right, I can't leave it alone. These people are too important to me to abandon to their hate. Well, most of them, anyway. :)

Hello marymac,
There are so many issues and untruths being bandied about that it is difficut for anyone to focus on the big direction of the country.
The constitution is the framework behind the US democracy. It is being changed and threatened by fear and war mongers. It is the salient issue all Americans should get behind and vote for people who support it. By fear and insecurity we are led to fascism. America claims to be the home of the brave.
The change that people want is a return to the rule of law, and for all to abide by and to protect the constitution. Oh, and let justice be served, IMHO.
I have posted this here before, but it's been a few days, so I'll post again.
I would like to see a 'forum' (similar to the Saddle Back Forum hosted by Rick Warren) where constitutional scholar (s) ask the candidates questions regarding their opinions on the Bill of Rights and constitutional matters in general.
It seems to me that the ACLU would be a perfect group to organize and host an event of this type. As they are advocating that people declare themselves "Constitutional Voters", I have emailed them (and I am posting this because I am asking you to do so, as well) making this request.
If they receive enough requests, it might happen.
Please email request to Anthony Romero

Thank you!
Who are THEY fighting for??
Blue: I don't know who they are fighting for but I'll take a couple guesses:
1. Big Oil, Gas and Mining?
2. To line their pockets and the pockets of the cronies with gold at taxpayer expense?
What a disjointed complaint. She didn't have her teleprompter handy I guess.

Even for the Trolls that are mostly Racists, that hate Obama. Have to love him, Palin and all of the speakers at the convention, and all of the Repo pundits, on the blogs, TV. and radio. Is doing everything they possible can to try and get him to blow a cork. Of course he's not going to do this. He's one cool cucumber. And he just keeps hitting them with the issues. Which of course is what he needs to do.
He's way to smart, and way to cool to blow his top. Exactly the kind of temperament we need in the White House. We don't need a senile Hot Head, anywhere around matters, of National Defense. Plus a thousand more reasons.
H
owever, beyond the pulsating contempt visible on the faces of the GOP delegates, many of the nasty attacks on Obama – as well as the effusive praise for the Republican ticket – were blatantly false, as if testing the depths of American gullibility and bigotry.
In speech after speech, Republicans didn’t so much as tell the Big Lie as they deployed Wholesale Lies.
www.consortiumnews.com/2008/090408.html
"testing the depths of American gullibility and bigotry" -There is a difference between the D and R parties: one has respect for the truth, the other used to.
Wholsale lies until the public doesn't know what the truth is or who speaks with any authority. A set-up for some Big Brother to step in and restore security with his own version of reality. We are just asking for trouble in letting the media's role in democracy to be twisted into lies and deceptions for political and business gain.
Palin is neither a Barracuda, or a Pit bull.
She's just like a little pussy cat, thats testing her claws.
Or a little Toy Terrier, that always nipping at your heals, with no real bite.
This woman is going to fold just wait and see.
As a republican, I wonder what were McCain's true thoughts on bridge to nowhere, if he supported bush 95% of the time? As pork spending held it's finnest sway over the past 7 1/2 years, McCain would have had a constant battle on his hands with fellow party members if he had not supported at the least some of this hypocrisy & thievery.
As governor...Palin cut funding for a program that helps train pregnant teens/teen mothers so they can get better jobs to be self sufficient.
Can anyone say karma?
I figured out who she reminds me of last night..I don't know if any of you remember..and I can't find any video on it..but back on Saturday Night Live, they did a parody of Antonio Banderas, and Melanie Griffith. Victoria Jackson was Griffith, and she screeched ''Antonio-o-o-o!!''...THAT is what Palin sounds like.
Again...If she wanted her daughters' ''choice'' to be a private family matter....A: she should have declined the nomination and B: should respect that ALL women wish that their decisions regarding unplanned pregnancy should be private and personal. Period!
As it is...she thrust her daughter into the spotlight to satisfy her own ambition...and her support of outlawing abortion in all circumstances shows that she wants gov't & others to interfere in womans' lives...again....karma.
According to the repubs, Palin is more qualified than McCain...as HE has no executive experience whatsoever, just as they say of Obama.
Did she keep the bridge to nowhere money..and use it for other things??
Good evening, all.
Johne, this is from today's "QT" column in the Sun-Times:
Georgia's on his mind
News Headline: "Budget cuts on way for Georgia universities."

DPD,
This is just the kind of stuff that is making even the most right-leaning undecided voter angry. They are saying enough with the imperialism at the expense of our own country.
Don't underestimate the outrage over this. The middle class is digging in their heel on this issue. McCain advocates continuing what not only hasn't worked but has weakened our nation and undermined the welfare of our country.
There has been so much irresponsibility.
People are fed up with Republicans trying to ignore their horrible record by diverting to partisan social issues that have nothing to do with national security or the economy.
Voters are not going to put up with the incompetence any loner.
Thanks for sharing. This would be a great talking point from which to work off of when canvassing.
For anyone who hasn't already heard, this from MoveOn..........
Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is "God's task." She's even admitted she hasn't thought about the war much—just last year she was quoted saying, "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq." 1, 2
Palin has actively sought the support of the fringe Alaska Independence Party. Six months ago, Palin told members of the group—who advocate for a vote on secession from the union—to "keep up the good work" and "wished the party luck on what she called its 'inspiring convention.'" 3
Palin wants to teach creationism in public schools. She hasn't made clear whether she thinks evolution is a fact.4
Palin doesn't believe that humans contribute to global warming. Speaking about climate change, she said, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being manmade." 5
Palin has close ties to Big Oil. Her inauguration was even sponsored by BP. 6
Palin is extremely anti-choice. She doesn't even support abortion in the case of rape or incest. 7
Palin opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools. She's said she will only support abstinence-only approaches. 8
As mayor, Palin tried to ban books from the library. Palin asked the library how she might go about banning books because some had inappropriate language in them—shocking the librarian, Mary Ellen Baker. According to Time, "news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor." 9
She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it). Palin claimed that she said "thanks, but no thanks" to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks "while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist." 10
I hear delusional R congressmen saying that the issue in this election is drilling, because the price of gas is too high for American budgets. Lies.
The issue in this election is the economy that is being destroyed by all the money in the US government being spent on waging war. We can spend money on healthcare and infrastructure and alternative energies if we stop funding this mad quest for oil.
The populace spoke in 2006 to end the occupation, but the obstructive repelicans stymied the mandate and kept us pinned down in Iraq further ruining the economy, and at the cost of many lives. Kick the bums out in 08, all the war creeps. Get the US back into building an economy for a sustainable future.
(The drilling issue is baloney. We have conserved our way to lower gas prices already by cutting back driving - way more than any new drilling could effect in the 5-10 years delay coming to market. The price of oil is poised to drop below $100/barrel because demand is down.)
Buy small efficient cars and drive less and slower -sacrifice- and send the Saudis et al a message of love and devotion -of all life and of America.
Peace

French President Nicolas Sarkozy warned Iran on Thursday that its determination to press on with its controversial nuclear drive risked an Israeli strike that would be a "catastrophe." "Iran is taking a major risk by continuing the process of seeking nuclear technology for military ends," Sarkozy said at a four-way summit in Damascus with the leaders of Syria, Qatar and Turkey."Because one day, no matter which Israeli government is in power, one morning we will awake to find Israel has attacked," Sarkozy said on the second day of a landmark visit to Syria.
"It's not a question of whether it is legitimate or intelligent or not... It would be a catastrophe, and we must avoid such a catastrophe."
Iran has consistently denied that its nuclear programme is aimed at building an atomic bomb and says it wants only to generate energy for its growing population.
But Tehran risks a fourth round of UN sanctions over its failure to abide by international calls to freeze uranium enrichment, a process which makes nuclear fuel but can also be used to build the core of a nuclear weapon.

I agree with the French President. Israel faces and existential threat from Iran according to Iran's President. The Iranians have made this threat many times. So you have to ask yourself, if your neighbor told you he was coming after with you with his gun what would you do?
Where in the hell are the ads that should have already been put out attacking palin for her out and out lies.
McCain would have ads out the next day.
I'm getting soo tired of Rovian tactics. Rove starts a rumor, then proves it's wrong, then Rove blames Obama. If this person, palin, is OK with this smear and the blatant lies than we've got trouble down the road. She will be back in 4 years, just you wait and see.

All it would take is for cheney to declare that we are the reason for the poor economy. They will broadcast this propaganda on right-wing radio and propaganda speeches by rove and cheney. Then they would round us up and send us to concentration camps.
This is what happened in Germany. Hitler blamed the jews for the Great Republican Depression in Germany and the German people fell for it and you know the rest of the story.
Hitler plundered Jewish property and used the money to fund his war machine.
Sound familiar. Adolf Bush is doing the same damn thing by mortgaging our grandchildren's future to the Chinese and he is too stupid to realize that he is repeating history.
mcgeezer is running an ad on television which is disgusting. At the end they show a picture of his ugly mug. Man he is getting old. I wouldn't be surprised if he bit the dust before the election. Campaigning must be quite a strain on this old fart who has had injuries during his lifetime and has had cancer four times.
newsjunkie,
I wouldn't be surprised if she seceded alaska from the union if she is dumped in this election. The Federal land they plan on seizing belongs to all of us and I will not tolerate them stealing my land. We would have to send the National Guard in and stomp on them.
Fellow POW’s say John McCain Was a Coward and a Traitor in Viet Nam.
I remember some weeks ago John McCain was having a cow that the NY Times was going to print an article and a battle ensued. No mention was ever made as to why McCain was actually begging and threatening the NY Times over this article. No further mention as been made about this article and I wonder if this bitter fight that took place according to the editor of the NY Times wasn’t because of the information contained in the video’s below.
John McCain has stood in the way of many a family, loved one and groups from getting our MIA’s and POW’s back. Even though they have more enough proof that there were over a 100 POW’s that were still being held and sent to other country’s. These groups and families point out that John McCain himself is stopping them from getting our fellow countrymen home.
Why?
Fellow POW’s are sure the reason is he was a coward and a traitor as a POW in Viet Nam and it would ruin his political career if this were ever to find its way to the main stream media. They have put together eye witness accounts that describe McCain’s traitorous actions during his time as a prisoner in Viet Nam by his fellow prisoners. Former Senators, Governors and political records flat out nail John McCain as a scared little man on the run from a history of lies and deceit.

Or something to that effect? I thought that was some of the dumbest copy ever written and used at any political event. Robert Duvual couldn't even pull it off. Herman Goerbels would have been scratching his head.
It doesn't surprise me in the least that the GOP didn't use authentic locations and real people. They only visit them when they need a photo opp and people (especially the troops) are just props to be manipulated.
Patriotism is what you feel...not how you try to position yourself to look like you are the keeper of the flag. We all saw how Spunky mangled our flag at the Olympics and then didn't think anything of it when he was caught in the act.

Actually it did surprise me - I thought McCain was smart enough to realize that the old formulas wouldn't work anymore - I guess he truely is out of touch.
The RNC campaign to market McCain/Palin looks a lot like the one used to market going to war with Iraq.
McCain is more clueless than I thought - and his soulmate is just as naive as I thought.

With that crowd? No.
They also laugh when anyone calls American workers or consumers whiners. I don't think they know how many true believers we have brought together this time. Let them laugh.
I'm making Beef Stroganoff tonight, and it's time to get the noodles boiled. I think I'll sign off early tonight. I have no intention of watching McCain recreate the most notable time in his life. It's been downhill ever since then and he wants to take us back there with him for 100 years.
It's also difficult to look at him too long. He looks just like my mother did right before she died. She was ready to go but I still cling to her memory.
He could go and only his family would care. But my mother made a real impact on the people she interacted with. She was that lady who always had all the kids in the neighborhood playing in her backyard every day after school. She gave the best Halloween parties.
McCain thinks he's a hero. She was a real one. Palin has no idea what she's talking about and my mother would be the first to say she needs her mouth washed out with soap.
I can hear her now. She'd be mimicing those ads say, "I'm John McCain and I'm stark raving mad."
Good night, all.
McCain reminds me
Lindsey Graham is really a whining lying bastard, isn't he?
He has to wrap this up soon, before the Larry Craig stall has too big a line.
Did you see Obama's interview on the O'Reilly Factor? Obama certainly made a very good presentation of his positions. Do you think John McCain or Sarah Palin could stand up to Bill O'Reilly's bloviations?
sally believes if it says something it will come true. like so many far rightists it doesn't operate in the reality based world. fact is palin reinvigorates the movement to protect choice and puts it in the very stark terms. Voters have to consider if their child is raped or a victim of incest do they want the government forcing them to carry through the pregnancy. This may be a popular notion among the VOTERS MCBUSH ALL READY HAD IN HIS POCKET but it is anathema to moderate and independent women (and men) who are the VERY VOTES MCBUSH NEEDS TO ATTRACT... so while the sound and fury of the convention gives sally dewy pants it ain't gonna do much for his team of assholes in the general election...in fact it will cost them votes.

God! Is the RNC that low on funds that they have to use home-made signs? It's just felt tip markers on poster board like the High School Homecoming committe would do.

OOOOH, the "Cindy McSame, the Lonely, Only Child" movie is starting.
"Little Cindy Lou Who!"
Yep - the campaign to market McCain and Sarah looks an awful lot like the deception used to market the war in Iraq.
One of the most enduring taboos in American politics, the airing of graphic images from the September 11 attacks in a partisan context, died today. It was nearly seven years old.
The informal prohibition, which had been occasionally threatened by political ads in recent years, was pronounced dead at approximately 7:40 CST, when a video aired before delegates at the Republican National Convention included slow-motion footage of a plane striking the World Trade Center, the towers' subsequent collapse, and smoke emerging from the Pentagon.
She was at a coctail party, where she met a handsome young Naval Captain, who immediately lied to her, so she lied right back.

When do they get to the part where he says "BTW, I'm already married and have a family, but I have a history of cheating on my wife"?
And the rubes go wild!
why should the American people give the ex-Sovet Republic Georgia one billion dollars of our money to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed in the war they started?
cheney is just trying to protect BP's pipelines to Europe. Why doesn't BP pay them the billion dollars?
We could use that money to repair our infrastructure or start a jobs program to put some of the 440,000 unemployed souls back to work.

so far i have moved the couch and broken a vase, fed some turtles, done star gazing with the dog, decided whether to put one or two coats of water based poly on this old trim i am using in the addition that was probably made from virgin white pine trees cut down a few hunderd years ago....and watched the yankees collapse, the giants win and did the dishes and ate some melon....and i didn't miss the rnc circus at all!
Cindy McCain described her husband tonight at the GOP convention as a leader with a "sense of history
He has the history (how much he's learned I'm not sure) - I would have like'd to see him adapt to the future - but it looks like that's not going to happen.
More jingoism and "USA! USA! USA!" chanting.
As the cameras pan the audience I can't help but notice that a LOT of these rah rah dudes are "of age".
GO THERE, ASSHOLES! Run through the streets of Iraq yelling your stupid rah rah chants and see how different it is than living off your trust funds.
Stop cheering and chanting your stupid slogans and put YOUR asses on the line so someone else can come home.
Chickenhawks. The whole lot of them.
McCain: We're dedicated to the propostion that all men are created equal
Except for gay men of course because they don't help bring in Evangelical contributions.
Is anyone else watching the RNC convention? I haven't heard any estimates of the number of attendees but it isn't close to the DNC convention numbers.
Oh no!!! Look out Washington DC! John McCain is going to introduce you Governor Palin.
You best all put up a guard around your libraries.
Who else thinks that dude in a "Code Pink" dress was a plant?
The FOX cameras knew where to point, when to do it, and they STAYED on the guy as he ran down the aisle, and was "escorted" back up and out by ONE guy.
Even Major League Baseball doesn't show that kind of stuff on TV during a game, they cut away to standard shots or to the booth.
And ALL of these guys are the "A Team" of FOX cameramen and control room directors and producers.
This guy was on the tube for almost a full minute, and McSame had a snappy line at the ready.
A REAL crowd pleaser, that was.
I think it was phony as all get out.
They had the cameras on him before he started walking down the aisle, and before he took off his suit to reveal the pink dress!
STAGED, just like ALL the pug shit.
Desertbloom Dumb Ass,
Never modify someone blog statement then call it a lie!! What a retard? Anyone can just go back to my original posting and see that you have modified it to suit your own stupidity.
Alaska has estimated 650 thousand people!
Alaska budget under Palin was $6.6 billion!
Assuming a family of 4 then each family gets an estimated $40 thousand per year government subsisidy.
Ask any Alaska native or regular Alaskan and see if they receive this level of funding from the government. Then try auditing Palin’s extended family.
It’s called selective discrimination in distribution of Alaskan state tax funds.
My writing is original and have facts to back it up; it require you to understand how to do a little bit of 3rd grade math!! The information was not plagerized like the republican nation convention speeches from Hitler, Goring, Hemmler or Mein Kampf!!
I guess this whole damn convention, is going to be nothing but a bio on McNuts, nothing about a issue yet, and i don't think there is going to be. Man there lame.
McCain's telling us that he fought the big spenders like those supporting the bridge to nowhere - why isn't Baracuda Palin speaking up now?
I don't know if this has been posted but I thought I'd post it anyway. I think it's lovely..sort of tells it like it is:
(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign for president has raised $10 million since Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin spoke Wednesday night, the campaign announced, calling it a "one-day record."
Palin, the governor of Alaska, launched harsh attacks on Obama, accusing him of being two-faced and a political lightweight with no significant legislative accomplishments.
"Coverage of the Palin attacks on the news this evening just pushed us over $10 million," Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in an e-mail to reporters Wednesday night.
The Republican Party announced earlier in the day it had raised $1 million in the wake of Palin's speech.
McCain actually mentioned FDR - I'm stunned - Obama must be wearing off on him.

Have you made your donation yet? If not - let your money do the talking tonight.... even if it's a 5 spot - let's let that lady know where we stand!
Keep on Rockn'
Sarah is going to destroy sally that how silly is sounds
Where is the Obama commercial right after McSames speech. They copied our convention, except for the 80,000 people, we need to ad them after like they ad'd us.
Geeze, they panned the crowd, and that "Students (probably from Regent College) for McSame" dude with the gold tie yawned like a 2 car garage opening.
Maybe he has an early physical tomorrow, because I'm sure he postponed his enlistment just to be there tonight. But tomorrow it's all "USA! USA! USA! READY TO REPORT, SARGE!!"
I had to feed the cat - has McCain called us communists yet?
McCain: We have to catch up with history
As far as can tell, Senator - you're draggin the team down when it comes to that.
Listening to McHawk give his address, I'm expecting Obama's campaign will realize another 10 million tomorrow. Maybe McHawk will get another million. I hope all these cheering fans realize that, if he should become President, McCain will reinstate the draft to man his wars. They better start kissing their kids goodbye.
No, dorsano, he's just trashing Obama by name; that's all. One lie after another is all he has. He seems to be hinting at putting Obama on his cabinet. He says it doesn't matter that he has moved to Obama's positions, or that Chimpy is also adopting Obama's ideas, he says he will be happy to share the credit for bi-partisanship.
Now he's saying how independent he has always been.
He's losing the crowd...
Back to the Hanoi Hilton.
AGAIN. He's really the original "Johnny One Note".

Ah - well, no man can stand alone - When Republicans realize that - we will truely be united.
BOY did it get quiet when he said "Enlist in the Military".
What happened to all those "Students for McSame" assholes and their "USA! USA! USA! RAH! RAH!" jingoism? Where are they now?
(crickets)
That sucked eggs through a straw.
McCains speech sucks. There are all old people there.
Fight with me, Fight with me means war, war, war
All of the chicken hawks are too old to be drafted.
Obama needs a commercial with McCain saying he wouldn't be opposed to a draft and McCain saying Fight with me, Fight with me
A whole convention, and nothing about the issues, how insane are these people?
Posted by GregL on September 4, 2008 at 06:01 PM And go ahead dors, when you read this. You're right, I can't leave it alone. These people are too important to me to abandon to their hate. Well, most of them, anyway.
Take care, GregL - hope to meet up sometime.
We can't work together with the rancer of the past. How many people out there thought of the rancer coming out of palins mouth last night.
Doo- Bee Oh yeah, that code pink was signature Rove. I smell a Rove.
Once again, not a mention of Chimpy by name. There was 1 mention of "the President", but no "my dear friend Little Prince Chimp".
Is Sara ready for questions yet after what, 7 days. We shall see if they let her out of the cage they have been keeping her in.
And I'm not sure what John McCain stands for anymore.Posted by dorsano on September 4, 2008 at 09:49 PM

The McCain speech signed on to all the themes that Obama introduced into the public debate.
Obama is genuinely leading the nation (and soon the world) - everyone will follow at their own pace.
McCain actually mentioned FDR - I'm stunned - Obama must be wearing off on him.Posted by dorsano on September 4, 2008 at 10:39 PM
Ok, see...THAT'S what we need to attack McCain on....We all know what FDR stood for, and it is NOT the bullshit conservatives stand for. FDR would have smacked the corps so freakin hard they'd STILL be crying for their mommies (Oh great, here *I* go, talking like corps are PEOPLE.)
McCain, you are NO FDR!
What do the republican party and McCain have to offer America? Pat Boon, Geritol & Tax Cuts for the WEALTHY. That's all, nothing Else! That's why I'm voting for Barack & Joe 2008* FOR A BETTER WORLD!
CBS news is kissing mcgeezer's ass big time. They even announced that the old bastard and Obamam are tied. Give me a f**king break. Lying bastards.
All mcgeezer did was attack Obama. Then he stole Obama'a line concerning change. That's all he has. What a f**king loser.
Of course he went on and on about his confinement in Hanoi, blah blah blah.
I can't stand it.
How dare that liar mcgeezer even mention FDR's name. He isn't fit to be dog catcher in wasilla. The bitch isn't fit to be a street sweeper. I don't mean to disparage street sweepers or dog catchers but these two aren't fit to eat shit.
People are fed up with Republicans trying to ignore their horrible record by diverting to partisan social issues that have nothing to do with national security or the economy.Posted by SandyH on September 4, 2008 at 07:02 PM
No, they're really not.
Jesus was a community organizer. The people he organized where his responsibilities. Are you surprised the quip got laughs?Posted by dorsano on September 4, 2008 at 07:18 PM
The whole thing with Christianity that ya gotta ask yourself is fundamentally (no pun intended) this: Is your God OT or NT? With OT ya get punishment for disobedience, and must blindly follow the rules. With NT (JC's words ONLY, the Apostles were a bit Strict Father, they never did get the whole nurturing thing, methinks) you get forgiveness and unconditional love and support...course, if you don't believe JC is GOd, I think he still wants to send you to hell, but hey, no god is perfect, ya know? Mine seduces his mother, dies, gets reborn and does it all over again. Kinda kinky, no? :)
mcgeezer doesn't have a clue about the suffering of the middle class in this country because he is completely out of touch. The price of gas doesn't bother him. The price of food doesn't him, he can afford caviar and fine champagnee with very meal. If he gets sick, he gets free health care from us. He is getting several pensions including Social Security thanks to us.
Has this prick no shame?
Anyway, gotta sleep. Later, good people. Bad ones, fucking die a slow horrible death, please?
i think mcbush did very well for a deceased person. deceased people have a great deal of trouble giving speeches and for that matter just standing up. most of us never even think of how hard it must be to be deceased and trying to make it in this dog eat cadaver world. i think the republican theme this election cycle will be "who speaks for the living dead? we do!".......dors i want the goddam ceramic colander back and you owe me a half pound of very thinly sliced prosciutto and not the domestic kind!
I noticed Palin dare invoke the Harry S. Truman name last night. I'm Certain Give'em Hell Harry Would Reach Out Of His Grave To Grab Ahold Of These Rascals & Bushwhackers!

Johne, if I were I dog catcher - I'd shoot you and send you to doggie heaven.
most of the convention attendees are invited to a big baby roast at the mcbush hotel suite....the babies were donated by the saudis who have taken to growing them like hydroponic tomatoes in the Dubai Tower...they give them as gifts to their friends either cooked or oven ready.....
There is soo much to work with here. He will name and shame earmarkers, well honey you just picked the biggest earmarker recipient of them all. Obama and Biden need to name her and shame her.
Hey Gregl, I don't like the republicans tainted version of god myself, He's scary! I like this version myself of god's will much better - "The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’’’—Matthew 25:40 ---- This is why I'm voting for Barack & Joe 2008*
I've had enough of nice. I better see some damn good ads calling these liars out and like tomorrow. I thought he had an immediate response crew. Words don't cut it, we need pictures. Don't they have an ad crew working 24/7 to visually debunk the bunk?
johnyfaster, not a religious man myself but i like that line...
Sorry guys, but I'm sure he was referring to Teddy Roosevelt, not FDR. Ah, the curse of getting older. Nevertheless, I keep wondering about how he plans to do all that drilling in the gulf since there aren't any drill ships available for about 3 years. Maybe Cindy will buy him a boat and a long pole.

I have been saying this for almost eight years now.
time for bed. now the work really starts for the average political maniac, phone banking is my poison and i plan to make a least a thousand calls between obama and my congresswoman...
So how did Mclame do? I was not able to watch his speech. I hear it was not very good.
Thoughts?
Same here Gregl- But if nothing else it's a good way to start every new day! Treat everyone as you would want to be treat. Simple easy play by the rules values. Something republicans know nothing about. VOTE DEMOCRAT For a Better World!
Hey,
My pal Olberman is on. I thought the trolls said he was not going to be allowed to report on the republican convention slime...

And since when have I become your benefactor? Why should I not give all that to my dear adoring children?
hello chicago and good night chicago. mcbush bombed near as i can tell. or at least we know he wants to....oh he also sees himself as the person who can bring everyone together in washington and the nation....firstly the possibility of that happening in the next few decades was wiped out long ago by lee atwater...secondly his little high school hall monitor last night was sent out to drive as many wedges as she got wedgies in junior high between the good pilgrims of the usa....so more delusions which will hopefully be followed by a very severe beating at the polls....
I should charge for this.

If you could charge for stupidity, it would have been a successful business long before you came along, dufuss.

McCain agrees with Obama that we need to come together as a country.
I guess you'll have to listen to the speech yourself to determine how best we can all come together.
I'm certain Teddy Roosevelt would reach out of his grave to grab old king george for trying to sell off our American National Forrest.
Posted by gregg on September 5, 2008 at 12:13 AM
Gregg,
Thanks for the update. We all knew Mclame would have problems. He is senile and can't remember lines. Without a teleprompter, he is toast.
It is very sad that he is the best the repuglickins can bring us. Is there any doubt he will have a wire during the debates?
If you could charge for stupidity, it would have been a successful business long before you came along, dufussThere was, its called the DNC.

Nice try Dufuss. The DNC doesn't charge. It accepts donations. But you wouldn't understand that, 'cause your a dufuss.
HAHAHAHAHAH
So McLame was a dud tonight.
I am not surprised. How is he going to deal with the fact that the republicans want Sarah on the top of their ticket instead of him? After all, she has "executive experience" from when she was mayor of 4 people.
AHAHAHAHAHAH
CNN) -- Aides to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin improperly obtained her former brother-in-law's state police personnel files and cited information from those records to raise complaints about the officer, the head of Alaska's state police union said Thursday.

She fits right in with the Bush/Cheney organization, don't she?
Let's see. Next she will state,
I do not comment on an on-going investigation.
Sad and Lame. MOre of the same from John McLame.
go home dopey Robert and sleep it off.

I am home, Dufuss Dan. And I don't have anything to "sleep off". And my name is NOT Robert.
How could you get so stupid in one lifetime. It must come naturally to you.
Looks like the only one left is Dufuss-Dan and he is not worth my time.
Good night all.
Just saw the new Obama Ad and had to post that it was great. Simple, visual, true and straight to the point. Now when does the next one come out?
Why hasn't Showbiz tonight aired the pics of palins sleazy daughter with bleached hair, now died a respectable deep brown, underage drinking. You know the one that got preggers the one Cactass said should be sterilized. LMFAO

NYANGOMA-KOGELO, Kenya - Western Kenya and Illinois share a landscape of gentle hills and an economy built on family farms. But Kenya has few roads, railways and airports and nothing like the city of Chicago. And that's just fine for Malik Obama, the older half-brother of Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat running for U.S. Senate.
"An African doesn't need too much to go on," he said.
While Barack may soon be heading to Washington, Malik, a 46-year-old Kenyan, has chosen to make his life in Nyangoma-Kogelo, a village of several hundred that is the Obama ancestral home.

Oh mercy me

The old war hero gave a decent speech last night, but not even his best by his low standards. He and Palin (the earmark queen of Alaska!) neglected to mention many of the specifics of his "programs", but that's OK, Obama and Biden will take care of that on the campaign trail. The race is close now, but the fat lady has not sung yet and when she does, it will be Obama/Biden going to Washington!
US hits highest unemployment rate in 5 years at 6.1% we lost 605,000 jobs this year already. How did these moron republicans think the US could buy china commie crap if they don't have a job. Immediate Greed, they really didn't care about the middle class and now they have destroyed the market and the middle class. If you lost your job to china and you vote republican, you just might be a moron.
Ha! Just saw where Tom Ridge on MSNBC said, last night, "because John Bush, John McCain is his own man"
Why did McCain say he believes in service but palin, with her rancor, insults community service? Oh yeah, he wants everyone to sign up for all the wars games he wants to play. Fight with me, Fight with me, that must have scared a lot of mothers last night.
Scarborough just said he is still a fan of Richard Cheney’s while talking about the Iraq war decision. I can’t believe he said that.
I had to get on the chat room today to talk about this.
SINCE JOE WILSON WAS AN AMBASSADOR TO IRAQ AND NIGER (BOTH CRUCIAL IN THE RUN UP TO THE WAR) HOW DO WE KNOW THAT HIS OUT-ED CIA WIFE DIDN’T WORK COVERTLY IN BOTH OF THOSE COUNTRIES, JOE?
THEN HOW WOULD WE KNOW THAT AFTER CHENEY RECEIVED PRE-IRAQ WAR REPORTS FROM BOTH THOSE COUNTRIES THAT HE TARGETED JOE WILSON BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID ‘SOMEBODY’ ELSE WAS GOING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HE KNEW AND LEAK THE INFORMATION ‘THEIR WAY‘? SO HE CONTROLLED THE LEAK ‘HIS WAY’ FIRST?
PEOPLE WHO HANG ON TO THE IRAQ WAR BEING SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF KILL ME, AND OTHERS, BY THE WAY.
THEY SENT THE SURGE WHEN THEY SPINNED THE SURGE AFTER THEY LEARNED THAT IRAQI VIOLENCE WAS COMING DOWN BECAUSE OF THE IRAQI SECTS AGREEMENTS. SO THEY THEN COULD SAY ‘WE’ WERE ’WINNING’ TO TAKE FALSE CREDIT OF THE GOOD IN IRAQ. THE REPUBLICAN GOP IS THE OPPOSITE OF A TERRORISTS GROUP THAT WANTS TO TAKE FALSE CREDIT FOR THE BAD; THEY WANT TO TAKE FALSE CREDIT OF THE GOOD.
JOHN MCCAIN NEEDS TWO SIGNS OVER HIS HEAD: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED AND THE WAR IS WON.
John McCain spent 5 and half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. He was tortured and suffered incredible mental distress. How many U.S. Servicemen are now prisoners of wheelchairs and hospital beds. Are prisoners of mental issues that they will live with for the rest of their lives.
McCain retuned home to his mother and father who were there and strong for him. He found Cindy McCain and has had a strong marraige and family from all accounts. His father-in-law's wealth allowed him to enjoy four homes. But others have not been so fortune. Their marriages are crumbling because of their service to their country. They cannot make the rent or the morgage for the one appartment or home that their family lives in.
Ask him, what about these other prisoners of war? Ask him what about their future? Ask him how are they to stay in the one home that they have? Ask him to support a bill that will ensure education and health care for veterans and it seems his answer is "No."
He has one thing right... it is not about him. But it is about prisoners of war.
As an Independent voter I wish the Obama campaign would announce that one of the first things they will do once elected, is to set up a new independent prosecutor that would audit the office of the outgoing Presidents. This means that they start by investigating even "Top Secret" documents in the Bush administration to see if there were any wrong doings that were brushed under the rug. We, the American people, are entitled to get an assessment by an independent auditor every time we have a change in power. We want to know once and for all if the Bush administration conducted itself in a legal and ethical manner. We have paid trillions in taxes in the past 8 years and have the right to audit our government. The Bush administration has to be investigated for the Iraq war that would have been considered a genocide had it been waged by any other country. They have to be investigated for their secret dealings with the oil companies, the no bid contract with Halliburton, and the Valerie Plame name leak among other shameful scandals. We need to cleanup Washington and send a strong message to other would be Presidents that they cannot abuse the office of the President which they have been entrusted to uphold, and that they are ultimately accountable for their actions regardless of cronyism by their own party for backing and overlooking such abuse. This creed would be a great example of our Democracy around the world and a reminder that we are a nation of laws and not hypocrisy. No one is above the law not even past Presidents. Bush and Cheney have to be held accountable for any potential wrong doings. I believe that such an announcement would be explosive and would get a tremendous positive media coverage for the campaign because it demonstrates conclusively that the Democrats mean business not rhetoric when it comes to reforming Washington, and President Obama would lead this nation by the same ethical rules that he wants others to follow.
Much has been made about Ms. Palin's reform policies, but I bet the Republicans would never do such a drastic measure to cleanup the government because they are not serious about it. They just say things to get elected and go about business as usual and sweep all corruption under the rug once again.
I have an idea for a campaign add: Sen. Mc Cain was a P.O.W. in the police action in Veitnam. Held captive for how many years? Wasnt it like 5 years Sen McCain spent in the Hanoi hilton...
Use the plot from the screenplay/movie and make a comparison (parallel) between the character portrayed by Frank Senatra and Sen. McCain...
Nothing like having a (RED CHINESE BRAIN-WASHED) president to do the bidding of the red Chinese. Distastefull as an add like this would be, it does undremine Mc Cain's credibility. His status as a POW can no longer be an asset.
All we need do is instill reasonable doubt about Sen McCain within the minds of voters. Send more jobs overseas, let the red Chinese build bases here in the USA, ect (laying out the framework to impliment the Bilderberg plan to carve up the world into 3 unions and dismantle The Constitution of the United States????
