Republican National Convention: More of the Same
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

Why is riding in a golf cart an issue? These pictures seem like a waste of space.
I guess I need the thousand words, because I don't get the relevancy of the pictures.
I ride in an electric golf cart nearly everyday - it saves on gas.
This is probably the incorrect thread to ask this question...
Does the vice president become president if the president becomes incapable to serve as president?
If this is so and if I was American (hope to be someday), I would have a serious problem voting for McCain with Palin being "second" in charge!! Why would America vote for this pair?
4 for 4
i need a "soul mate" babe
it's the economy stupid or owls and trees are stupid
katrina's for fishin' and eatin' cake
viewing my tv reruns while snoring
That has to be the whitest convention I have ever seen.
Same ol' tired false arguments.
Same old thing, not convincing, in a bubble of bubbleheads blowing it. Like the selection of Dan Quayle but worse...and copy cat everything including sound bites -
I wonder if they asked Chuck Berry permission to use his song, Johnny B.Good. They were doing the thing as if they owned the song written by a legendary musician not of their ilk. Will he be like Jackson Browne and sue??? Hmmm...
Here's more on the sound bite points which are not so true on more experience...unless you want to agree that Palin has more than McCain in decision making, good judgement and executive experience, oh.. and more than Dubya too, but then, that is not so hard for Republicans to cheer about or is it or do they know what tune they are dancing to??? hmmmm.

Republicans Rush In

The Republican delegates don't even represent their own people back home. They are living in lala land and will soon have a rude awakening!
I am really concerned about he VP debates. I don't think Biden has what it takes to pull off the evening gown or the swimsuit competition.
hehehe
Palin? CofC of the ANG? LOL! ROFL!!!
Anybody who has had much exposure to the command structure of the reserve components of the Army, and particularly the Army national Guard knows this is horse hockey. The only command the governor of a state has over the NG in his/her states is that they can call them up in a CIVIL emergency within the state. The state adjutant, a 2-star, and the NG command structure, then does the work of getting things moving. In case of national emergency, the Guard is federalized and then treated like the Army Reserve, which is not an asset of any state. The state governor has absolutely nada, zip, zilch to do with the military operations of the NG in a national emergency.
This whole "military experience" thing is bogus. Yes, the President of the United States is CofC for the military, BUT outside of declaring war, or ordering call ups for national emergencies, the actual military operations is left in the hands of the Chiefs of Staff and their subordinates.
If "military experience" were so damn necessary for being president then we'd be sending presidents to the Army War College and similar military training schools before they could declare their candidacy. We've already had one bonehead president who thinks he can run the military and look at the disaster he's caused. We're locked into an illegal "war", he's fired most of the competent generals who told him truths that he didn't want to hear, and he's practically destroyed our military.
McInsane and the Beauty Queen, more of the same and much worse!
I liked that line too. "she has military command experience.''
Huh? Cause the PRESIDENT sent the AK national guard to Iraq?? Do they think SHE is giving them orders over there?? Did the president have to ask to use them, and she decided ''yes''...is that what they are suggesting??
When asked what command SHE took and when SHE called up the guard in AK, and what commands she gave...the GOP flunkie was tripping all over his talking points.
I half-enjoyed watching Republican leadership slipping on their own divisive mud when united post-9/11 George Bush said last night that the angry left will never put America first while knowing that they and their Bush and Cheney scapegoats will be put last on 1/11.
Barack Obama ALWAYS puts the American Public first. Unlike the Bush Administration and Republican leadership has yet to realize, Barack Obama and Joe Biden know that the American Public is America, both America’s majority and minorities (I mean, the White House’s political party didn’t even represent their own party’s majority of constituents against a war through our American Democracy).
As far as the words angry-left go, anger is just an emotion that let’s us know something is wrong. Where most of us then think about how to communicate why we think something is wrong and how it might be made right. Most people think there was something really wrong George Bush’s political practices as president, Richard Cheney’s ideas that he was the elder Statesmen who could influence Bush on what to do, and the helpless-but-powerful former Republican Congress who gave George Bush a mile but inferred he wouldn’t give Congress an inch. Most people want to make all that right with Barack Obama and will.
Palin has her own crazy preacher....talking about AK being the refuge for the end times and all that. And she just spoke there in June PRAISING her lifelong church that shaped her destiny.
She thinks the Iraq war is God's will...and even has the congregation praying for a pipeline to be built.
Should patriotism be determined by whether someone supports a political party perspective? Protests against continuing the Vietnam War, including the participation of many of us veterans helped bring the war to an end.
After congress cut off funding for continuing the war John McCain and the other prisoners came home. It is not credible to suggest that by stopping a war you are cutting off funding for our troops. Republicans are trying to plant the image that Democrats are going to just leave the troops in Iraqi and force them to hitchhike home. Disinformation, not truth is their mantra.
Second, now that we know John McCain has been diagnosed with “invasive melanoma” on his cheek. According to the NZDS when the cancerous cells have grown through the basement membrane into the deeper layer of the skin (the dermis), it is known as invasive melanoma. The pathologist may state that the tumor has a vertical growth phase, which is potentially more dangerous than the horizontal growth phase.
Once the melanoma cells have reached the dermis, they may spread to other tissues via the lymphatic system to the local lymph nodes or via the blood stream to other organs such as the lungs or brain. This is known as metastatic disease or secondary spread.
I wonder if Palin sends out that picture of her kneeling over rudolphs' carcass on her Christmas card?
I watched the RNC last night and my husband and I laughed because it was so boring!! The people in the audience were so "stiff", it looks like they are robots hearing the SAME thing and believing it every time. Then to listen to people say how great Fred Thompson's speech was. I thought Fred was going to die from coughing 70 times Ok, so John McCain was in a war 40 years ago....so what's that got to do with running a country? I called Joe Lieberman's office today and told the receptionist I was from Ohio and I was embarrassed for Mr. Lieberman making that speech, this man doesn't know which way to go...he bashed Barack Obama, his own party, he's an idiot. If anyone is interested in making a comment to him, you can visit his website or call him at 860-549-8463. I thought I would just get a busy signal but I got right through and the receptionist said she would pass it on. Whatever!! Was any one else annoyed by Lieberman's tasteless speech? I can't believe people I talk to at work talking how they are going to vote for McCain, what does that Republican party have to offer America? I'm not getting it, it's insane.....GO OBAMA!!!
A time for the republican conventionaires to share with the hard working middle class folks who are struggling with today's economy:
Meg Whitman, ex CEO of Ebay, who is worth $1.3 BILLION DOLLARS will speak tonight to tell us what McShame has in store for the struggling middle class and stealing an Obama theme, describe the "moon shot" effort to wean us off of foreign oil. Also on the list is multi millionaire Carly Fiorina, who received $20 MILLION for being fired as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, which she nearly ran into the ground, and has rebounded with a new CEO.
Now theses are two people we can all relate to, a little like Phil Gramm, telling us that in their world everything ain't so bad.
In other repug economic news, indicted former GOP leader Tom DeLay snuck into a big fundraiser put on by Coalition for a Conservative Majority, through a back door loading dock. The cigar smoking DeLay chatted it up with other repug congressman including Rep. John Mica of Fla. Just a chance for all to sit around and chat about money, God, morality and money!
I don't get it. Why Palin? The Gov of Alaska? A state that only has 670,000 citizens. Figure that is only 1.1 per Sq. Mile. Less than half the population of Philadelphia, and 10 percent of them are under poverty level in a state that has been flush with cash for decades.
I don't care about her daughter. What I do care about is what happened to the "Bridge to Nowhere" money, I know she said she turned down the bridge, but Alaska still got the 200 million. Wouldn't it be nice if every state received a no strings 200 million gift? What did a state with only 670 thousand people do with 200 million given by the 136 million of the rest of us taxpayers? And let's not forget that she supported the bridge before it became an embarrassment.
It begs the question. Personal stuff aside, was this the best McCain could come up with? If so, what was so wrong with the ones he didn't choose?

While Palin is busy asking for prayers for the completion of a pipeline, and allowing God’s will to direct the foreign policy of this country, I’m going to pray we manage to get out the vote and make sure this loon is not elected.

Don't just pray, gov. Go pick up a stack of Voter Registration cards and carry them with you. Have the different polling places by zip code available.
Sign up with the local Democratic committee and work phone banks and be available for rides to the polls on Election day. Go around and put up yard signs. go door to door with information packets.
Getting out the vote means getting ourselves out.
Yeah Palin. She isn't a running mate, she is a caricature. She's the bible-thumping, bad hairdo, 10 years out of style, nasal voices put down of right wing womanhood ever screened on TV or movies with a dash of Roseanne Barr old TV series thrown in. This isn't a political campaign, it's a D-grade sitcom.
Check out the link of Joe Lieberman 2 years ago.
This man is as much a nutcase as McSame.
Everything about this convention smells like oil! More of the same. No matter what they say,it will be more of the same. The old tell them what they hear politics. Do we America fall for this shit again!? Really????????????????? As Congressman Dennis Kucinich said Wake UP America!
Woo hoo. You loons are surely out in force this week. I expecially like all of the tolerance for different type folks on the other side. Face it; the left is terrified of Sarah Palin and will do anything to bring her down. The Dem VP pick is just another old white guy, right? It's not our fault your presidential candidate didn't choose the alleged most qualified woman in the entire world. Eighteen million Dems wanted her yet BHO didn't choose her. Why not? Hmmm...
HOPE! CHANGE! DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, PAY LESS!!! Enjoy, moonbats.
Looks like we've had more of the same from both parties for the last 50 years. Thats why unmarried women are still the largest group of non voters. 36% percent of the voterate are in fact unmarried and 44% of the workforce unmarried.
Ever hear a politician mention a single person?

Why isn't the Palin nomination called what it is? She's a goat. After the Dem convention, the Republican response was Barack isn't ready to lead - so they fill the ticket with a candidate that is even younger and has NO national service experience (unless you count the AIP)? For the same reason that Gore or Kerry didn't run again - the stigma of a lost election- Republicans needed a warm body to fill a void until Romney can give it another run in four years. And they needed one quick, so a pregnant daughter, a badgered ex brother-in-law, and the ultimate states right rally all were undetected in a shoot from the hip decision. McCain loses with a nobody at his side, and the Republican party begins taking copious notes for the next run.
And, this "family is off limits" crap really goads me, too. You cannot tout moral responsibility and direct people to hush up the truth. Family off limits? Remember "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly" comment? John McCain, adulterer - Sarah Palin, thug governor. Really, that's the ticket....
After watching Sarah's speech, all I can say is for the love of Heaven, let's fight back. It was negative, insulting criticism of Obama from someone who no-one had heard of a few days ago. It's time to point out their weaknesses, without prefacing every reference to mcCain with a personal tribute.
It's time to go on the offensive. Sarah's speech was an insulting attack from someone no-one had heard of a few days ago. Let's stop prefacing every reference to McCain with a tribute to his patriotism and heroism.
I am just visiting, just wanted to see how sad and scared "the other side" is after realizing the butt kicking you are in for. Imagine a everyday little old mama, with no national political experience, making everyone say Obama who?
still republican and proud
"hottest babe from the coolest state" buttons?
did i see on the hats of those cheering attendees?
ol' john's "soul mate" vp one in the same?
portrays her status as a sex symbol and not vp material?
This Palin pick pretty much clinches that the Republican Party has given up this year. The party is trying to rally it's base by being even more partisan than ever and doesn't even realize that they majority of the population is mad and disgusted over those policies. Palin is basically the most expendable Republican that they could have put on the ticket. The Republican Party hates McCain as was seen in 2000 when they ripped him mercilessly over his divorse from his first wife. They just need to appear to rally behind him since he beat their system. The only reason Lieberman isn't on the ticket as well is because they had to save some face.
Looking forward to the first debate.
