Agreed. Conservatives are usually the more simple-minded and that, of course, attracts the uninformed "sheeple". And after eight years of the most incompetent POTUS, you'd think we'd have learned our lesson by now.
Good night fellow Democrats. Keep the faith and keep the faith. The populist revolution has begun!

Olbermann is on.
He is going to disect Sarah's "canned" answers.
The thing about Republicans is they lie.
What comes out of their mouths has nothing to do with reality. But if you watch what they DO you can see what the truth is. For example, McLame SAYS that Sarah can do great at live interviews, BUT then doesn't let her do ANY.
Do we want another liar as Commander-in-Chief?

I just read in the ABQ Journal that the governator has to have an emergency $7 billion loan from bush or he will shut the state down. The State of New Mexico is also having problems getting loans for some road projects.
Where is this neocon incompetence going to end?
It would be much worse under mcgeezer if that's possible.

If You were The Boss... which team would you hire?
With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc. etc., this is an unusually critical election year.
Let's look at the educational background of the candidates and see what they bring to the job:
Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899 (meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of his class)
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism
Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most influential nation in the world?

the hot lawsuits are registering to vote and voting early at the same time. it's a law the repugs wrote and enacted, but now it's somehow unlawful?
they want observers at all early voting sites, which include boards of elections. repugs want to watch voters every second.
they are attacking every aspect of the election process.
Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most influential nation in the world?
Posted by PamB on October 3, 2008 at 10:21 PM
The formerly most influential nation in the world...and the one with most frickin conceited government, whether Dems or Repubs in charge, also.
The anti-Russian rhetoric rolling off the tongues of the senior members of the Bush regime, and the continued anti-Russian hysteria coming out of the McCain-Palin camp, points towards the existence of a demon waiting to lunge behind the eyes of a country which appears to relish conflict and highlights the existence of a power-hungry clique which perpetuates itself through the manipulation of fear.
The aggressive stance taken against Russia by Condoleeza Rice, Richard (Dick) Cheney, John McCain and Sarah Palin (and of course George W. Bush himself, although one has to give him a discount) after their American forces aided the Georgian armed forces in a criminal act of murderous aggression against Russians living in South Ossetia (and planned a similar attack on Russians living in Abkhazia) was, more than the fury felt by the side that lost and got totally humiliated by the magnitude of Russia’s victory, a telling insight into the soul of those who manage Washington.
Bringing in people like John McCain and Sarah Palin is going to do nothing to open the window and refresh the air after eight years of the mass murderous criminal policies of the Bush-“Dick” Cheney-Rumsfeld-Rice Axis of Sheer Evil. Just look at their faces, after all. McCain represents a continuation of the policy to dangle demons before the eyes of the American people, basing policy presentation on the manipulation of fear. After all, he claims Palin is a good choice because she is Governor of Alaska and that is near to Russia. It is not funny. If it were not so dangerous to have a clown of this caliber vying for the Presidency of one of the world’s most powerful countries, it would be utterly pathetic. As for Palin – what happens if McCain dies?

Have you heard anything about the blackwell case? I understand that it has gone to trial.
A fellow was on the Thom Hartman show the other day who said that he testified about the computers used in stealing the 2004 election. He apparently testified that the software used in these machines was antiquated and could be hacked by a two year old. He testified that the machines were sent to a company in Tenessee for the votes to be tabulated. This company was heavily into the abortion issue and violently against it. This same company handles all the information (emails) in the white house.
Why isn't this trial being spread all over the MSM especially now with the neocons trying to steal yet another election?

Oh, I like that one. If you read the article I just posted, I came across the word AmeriKKKa. Under bush and cheney it is certainly worth considering.
chimp is the one who corrupted fannie mae and freddie mac. In 2002 bush gave a speech where he called for extending home loans to people who had bad credit and people who couldn't afford such loans. chimp said that he saw no reason why someone with a bad credit history and someone with a mediocre job couldn't have a really nice home just like the rest of us. He encouraged these people to overextend themselves and fall prey to the sharks.
Most normal people save their money and sstart with a small fixer upper. They should not expect to start with a mansion.
Furthermore, mcgeezer's campaign manager worked off fannie mae and freddie mac.
The fall of these two lending agencies is clearly the result of deregulation and loose lending standards perpetrated by chimp and his gang.
Quit spreading the damn neocon lies.

Um, Sally, you forgot to post the link to your source for this information.
It is obviously bogus. Made up. Some kind of republican dream pretending they have researched the facts. Here is ONE example of many.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
McCain Is An Avid Supporter Of Lax Rules For Financial Institutions
McCain Supported A Banking Bill Because It Eliminated “The Tremendous Regulatory Burden Imposed On Financial Institutions.”

ahhahahahahahahahaha what a stupid republican dupe.
McCain was a sponsor on a bill that would remove oversight of Fannie May and Freddy Max from Congress and place it with the Federal Reserve. In a speech before the Senate in 2005, McCain argued that Freddy and Fanny were headed for bankruptcy without intervention. Democrats blocked the bill.
101Sally-* on October 3, 2008 at 11:39 PM
Nice try Sally. Only half true. But good to see you try to support your position. Here is the whole story:
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/757/
Federal officials in both the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush administrations sought greater authority to regulate them, but were largely stymied by Congress. In early September 2008, with home values plummeting, the government seized control of Fannie and Freddie to prevent them from failing, a move that could cost U.S. taxpayers tens of billions of dollars.
McCain has taken heat for recent revelations that Freddie Mac paid a lobbying firm co-owned by his campaign manager, Rick Davis, $15,000 a month from 2005 through August 2008. But the campaign has called attention — in advertisements like this one — to McCain's support for tighter oversight of the companies.
McCain did indeed co-sponsor the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, a bill that would have enhanced oversight of Freddie and Fannie. Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., introduced the bill in January 2005 and immediately garnered co-sponsorship from two other Republican senators.
McCain signed on in May 2006 after a damning federal report on accounting practices at Fannie Mae was released. "If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole," he said in a statement.
The National Association of Home Builders opposed the bill, as did the National Association of Realtors. Senate Democrats said they supported some form of stricter oversight, but would not support a provision of Hagel's bill that would limit the size of the company's portfolios. Negotiations stalled and the bill never made it to the floor.
Does McCain's support for that bill amount to fighting to rein in Freddie and Fannie? Sort of. Others had been fighting for Fannie-and-Freddie reform for more than a decade, and McCain signed onto the bill a year-and-a-half after it was introduced. And he reportedly didn't do too much for the bill beyond co-sponsoring it and issuing a statement.
The McCain campaign has also noted that in 2003 he was one of five Republican senators to co-sponsor a prior bill to tighten oversight of Fannie and Freddie. Still, if he "fought" for reform, it wasn't exactly guns-a-blazin'.
Did Democrats block the reforms? More or less. They preferred a pared-down bill, and so did not support Hagel's.
McCain overstates his role in pushing for Fannie and Freddie reform, and slightly oversimplifies the dynamic at work in the Senate. We give his claim a Half True.
70 million viewers for the debate.
And they didn't tune in to see Plugs Biden.
103Sally-* on October 4, 2008 at 12:02 AM
That's true. Most tuned in to see the train wreck called Sarah Palin. Republicans especially were concerned that she would blow the entire election based on her recent performances. They were happy when she didn't throw up on herself or fall down.

At 9 AM on the morning of September 15, as Lehman Brothers was about to declare bankruptcy and Merrill-Lynch was about to be bought out to save it from cratering, John McCain announced to the world that
"the fundamentals of the U.S. economy are strong." Two hours later, he announced that the economy was "in crisis."
When asked how he could have done such a radical turnabout in two hours, McCain explained (and Sarah Palin reiterated last night) that by "fundamentals" he was referring to "the American worker."
Brothers and Sisters, we all know that politicians and their spin doctors take liberties with both the truth and the language, but that is the lamest perversion of language and logic that I have ever heard. And this from the mouth of the man who told laid-off auto workers in Michigan that their jobs were gone forever.
Be that as it may, with the release of yesterday's figures for job losses in September (159,000--the largest monthly loss in more than 5 years--also during the reign of the Bush regime), more than 760,000 American "fundamentals" have lost their jobs this year under the benevolent "supply-side, A/K/A "trickle-down," A/K/A "laissez-faire" economic policies of the Republiecans.
Have you had enough????? It is time to ride these people out of Washington and every other governmental entity that they have infested, right down to dog catcher. The longer it takes to get rid of them, the more damage they do and the longer it will take to undo what they have done to harm this country, its economy and its people. Throw the bums out!

Well it appears that all the lies palin told at the debate will come out each day, drip by drip. After the shock wears off that she didn't make a complete ass of herself it will sink in to anyone that thought she did well, that SHE DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTIONS.
If she wasn't female, or republican, (poor me, your sexist, the media is unfair) Joe would have went off on her when she said she wouldn't answer the questions but would instead puff up her resume. Hell, why was she there if she wasnt' going to answer the questions?
The divestment of alaskan investments in Sudan - lie
The housing gaffe that McCain would lower principle balances - lie

Rumour has it that at midnight the Diapered One puts on her leather suit, grabs her trusty LPG Flamethrower and screams "FLAME ON"! into the midnight sky.
Why is it that the liberal wenches on our blog are sooooooooo hateful Of the lovely and Talented Sarah Palin; who just happens to be the Future Vice President and then President of the United States of America? Its because that short, fatassed dumpy little NY senator wasn´t deemed worthy to candidate, hell she couldn´t even make the position of Vice presidential candidate. The new messiah(Bwhahahahahahahaha!) would have had to double his body guards and hire a food taster.
I won´t even mention the Botox Queen(EEEEEEEEWWWWWW!!)as a possible candidate. No, the Leftwing America haters club just doesn´t have anything to offer as a worthy candidate and they know it.
Now the Lovely and talented Sarah Palin is the republican candidate for Vice President. She is Sweet, intelligent, a loving mother who the majority of American women can relate to. Yes, the leftwing wenches go into a livid fury and beshit themselves with fear. Rightly so I say.
Once the Lovely and Talented Sarah Palin is in the Whitehouse, I hope she puts the spurs to ole Uncle Al´s ragged ass and rid us of his Global Friggin Warming hoax forever.
It would even be nice if she made him apologize on nation television for all of his lies and the fear he tried to instill into our children.
She could even make him give back his stolen Nobel Prize.
I bet she could kick his ass all over the sidewalk and never even break a sweat.
More Social Security Spin
October 2, 2008
Obama-Biden ad misrepresents the Social Security plan McCain supported. Again.
Summary
An Obama-Biden TV ad once again twists McCain's position on Social Security.
* It claims he backed a "plan to risk your Social Security in the stock market." In fact, the plan McCain endorsed in 2005 would have been voluntary, and workers could have put only one-third of their Social Security pension fund taxes into private accounts.
* The new ad also asks viewers to imagine "your future retirement benefits" invested in Lehman Brothers, AIG or Merrill Lynch, three firms that collapsed recently. In fact, the accounts in the plan McCain backed could not have invested in any of those stocks directly. They would have been allowed to invest only in a few government-run stock or bond funds with risks spread over many companies and industries..
Analysis
This is becoming a pattern. In a Sept. 19 article we criticized an Obama-Biden ad for its false insinuation that Sen. John McCain favored massive cuts in current Social Security benefits. And in a Sept. 20 article we criticized Obama for claiming in a stump speech that Social Security recipients would have had their money tied up in the stock market if the plan McCain once endorsed had been enacted. That was also false.
Politically correct
From Conservapedia
(Redirected from Political correctness)
Jump to: navigation, search
Politically correct language, or political correctness, consists of linguistic or ideologies restrictions imposed by liberals.
The modern politically correct movement began at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the most liberal institutions in the United States and is often viewed as a liberalist degrading of freedom of speech. George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four famously incorporated the notion of limiting thought through language (see Newspeak). Words or actions that violate political correctness are called politically incorrect.
Liberals impose political correctness to prevent recognition of differences between men and women, religions, belief systems, sexual inclination and nationalities. In the 1960s, feminists began to demand that the neutral pronouns he, him and his be replaced with expressions like "he or she", "him or her", "them", etc. This was part of their campaign to redefine the social roles traditionally associated with masculinity and femininity.
You want a socialist Obama-nation?
I wish the American people would get educated before it is too late. Obama has the most Leftist voting record of any member of the Senate. What should that tell you? It tells you if Obama gets elected with the most liberal congress of all times to support him his Leftist agenda will get passed. That means you will soon be living in the Peoples Republic of America.
If they taught you any real world history in school at all you should know that where-ever Communist socialism was tried it was a failure. Now why would you want to destroy a system that has been working and has made the most prosperous nation on earth for a system that has proved that it cannot work? If the young people and the naive in this country do not soon get educated on the facts about Obama they will be living America’s worse nightmare.
A nice smile and positive talking does not make for sound ideas and sound governmental polices. Find out where your black Messiah plans to take this country before you help destroy your own nation. We know why the socialist elite want to destroy America. They want a “workers paradise” with themselves in charge of the peons, but why do you want to destroy America by voting in socialism?
Here is just a small sample of what will happen under Obama:
A national depression or run away inflation
More abortion
Mass taxation and give away programs that takes from those that produce and gives to those who do nothing,
Gun control laws that will put everyone under the control of government and criminals
Hate speech laws that will not even allow Christians to proselytize
Brainwashing of your children in all schools
Thought police
A Nanny State that will control every aspect of your life and your children’s lives
Huge carbon taxes to fund the world government
If Obama stays on course it will bring civil insurrections and the break up of the Union. Mark my words! I told you beforehand.
When the Communist Party gets behind a candidate, it’s not just words on a newspaper. The party dispatches apparatchiks to work hard for the candidate. It occurs to me we may very well have seen a couple of those workers of the world inside Obama’s Houston office - those ladies flying the Cuban flags emblazoned with images of Ernesto “Che” Guevara.
Think about this now.
Democrats comparing Barack Obama to Jesus Christ and Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilot
The Democrats are so desperate that they will say anything to get their black savior into office. There is nothing sacred to these people except their self appointed black Messiah. Lets make the comparisons that they themselves brought up.
Where is that global warming consensus?
More of the scientific community is seeing that man caused global warming is overstated. The IPCC was concealing its method of reaching its conclusions because the man caused global warming conclusions were make by bureaucrats who wish to use this issue to further the UN’s global governance agenda. The conclusions in the report were not make by atmospheric scientists. We also know much of the data they used in the report has been found to be wrong. Apart from the people on the hundred billion dollar global warming payroll I would like someone to find that global warming consensus of scientists.
Al Gore lies through his teeth and keeps bringing up the scientific consensus and follows it by saying that the few deniers of man caused global warming (ten’s of thousands of true scientists) are equal to holocaust deniers and members of he Flat Earth Society. So Al Gore where is this huge consensus of atmosphereic scientists and why won’t you even debate true climate scientists on this issue instead of just saying the debate is over?
Are you really saying that UN’s hand selected panels are always right on everything? Now that opinion would might help get you a Nobel Peace Prize but they also give those to terrorists and terrorist sympathizers
Socialist liberals brought this day of reckoning on America
They Gave Your Mortgage to a Less Qualified Minority, by Ann Coulter
Here are a few points in the article by Ann Coulter:
Under Clinton, the entire federal government put massive pressure on banks to grant more mortgages to the poor and minorities. Clinton’s secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Andrew Cuomo, investigated Fannie Mae for racial discrimination and proposed that 50 percent of Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s portfolio be made up of loans to low- to moderate-income borrowers by the year 2001.
Instead of looking at “outdated criteria,” such as the mortgage applicant’s credit history and ability to make a down payment, banks were encouraged to consider nontraditional measures of credit-worthiness, such as having a good jump shot or having a missing child named “Caylee.”
Threatening lawsuits, Clinton’s Federal Reserve demanded that banks treat welfare payments and unemployment benefits as valid income sources to qualify for a mortgage. That isn’t a joke — it’s a fact.
In 1999, liberals were bragging about extending affirmative action to the financial sector. Los Angeles Times reporter Ron Brownstein hailed the Clinton administration’s affirmative action lending policies as one of the “hidden success stories” of the Clinton administration, saying that “black and Latino homeownership has surged to the highest level ever recorded.”
Meanwhile, economists were screaming from the rooftops that the Democrats were forcing mortgage lenders to issue loans that would fail the moment the housing market slowed and deadbeat borrowers couldn’t get out of their loans by selling their houses.
Now, at a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars, middle-class taxpayers are going to be forced to bail out the Democrats’ two most important constituent groups: rich Wall Street bankers and welfare recipients.
Political correctness had already ruined education, sports, science and entertainment. But it took a Democratic president with a Democratic congress for political correctness to wreck the financial industry.
So it was not all about greedy lenders it is about Democratic Party socialist liberals pushing affirmative action lending plans and regulations that forced the lenders to make them lend to the unqualified.
The energy shortage in the U.S. only exists because certain politicians want it.
In spite of what you have been told the U.S. has the largest oil potential than any other known area in the world. We have enough oil in shale to last for hundreds of years. If we actually went all out to produce these resources we could be a oil exporter in a few decades. By the way, Shale oil can be recovered with present technology with little environmental impact and produce gasoline for less than $2 a gallon but since it is on federal land congress has put it off limits for energy development.
So frankly the energy shortage has more to do with politics than anything else. When you have two trillion barrels of oil in reserve and 1/4 of the coal deposits on earth you do not have a energy shortage unless certain people want you to have an energy shortage.
American Thinker: The Myth of No Oil
Predictions of nationwide oil supply exhaustion soon became regular occurrences, with seven made prior to 1950[2], even though the United States was the world’s largest crude oil producer until 1973. Indeed, through the mid-1980’s, most oil consumed in the country was of domestic origin. Today, however, the United States imports the majority of its oil and, due to environmental regulations, has not authorized the construction of new refineries since the mid-1970s.
Yet, our country does not lack adequate oil resources. Rather, supply estimate methodologies seriously undercount our true oil resources. This and our lack of political will to use advanced recovery technologies contribute to the myth of no oil. This myth hobbles our ability to draw on our own existing resources and keeps us in a dependent posture, looking to others to provide for us.
A potentially significant supply of oil is trapped in shale in the American West. Rocks in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming alone are believed to contain over 1,500 billion barrels of oil. Previous government experiments with shale oil production were labor and energy intensive and environmentally disruptive, producing little oil. But efforts by private companies have revolutionized the extraction technology with development of an in situ process of heating rocks, trapping oil and extracting it profitably at oil prices of just over $30 a barrel. Shell Oil, the leader in this new technology, estimates that it will be able to produce one million barrels of oil per acre.
Meanwhile, it is estimated that oil production from tar sands in Canada and South America would add an additional 600 billion barrels to the world’s supply.[5] Canada, which does not segregate conventional oil from tar sands, is currently the largest U.S. oil supplier with about half of Canadian crude derived from oil sands. This oil is forecast to reach 3 million barrels per day in 2015. The Economist[6] recently noted that there exist “174 billion barrels of proven reserves in the oil sands of Alberta” alone.
Another technology, coal liquefaction to produce oil, becomes competitive when the price of conventional oil is higher than $30 per barrel, according to U.S. Energy Department estimates. The coal-to-oil process produces natural gas and removes pollutants that are released when coal is burned to produce electricity. With the United States possessing 27% of the world’s coal supply, U.S. coal-to-oil production could be substantial. South Africa has been producing petrol and diesel from coal since 1955 and currently produces 40% of the country’s oil from this source.

LMAO, McCain cut his own throat signing that Bailout bill! ALL THOSE EARMARKS HE SAID HE WOULD NEVER EVER SIGN INTO LAW ! HAHAHAHAHA
McCain: Economists tell me, ‘You don’t understand how serious’ the financial crisis is.
In an interview with the Denver Post yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) attempted to explain why he voted for the Wall Street bailout, despite previously saying that a bill that included earmarks would be “unacceptable.” McCain remarked, “I talk to…economists that have said, ‘Look, you don’t understand how serious — ’” before cutting himself off. Seeming to realize that he was once again admitting he doesn’t understand the economy, McCain corrected himself saying, “I mean, ‘We have to understand how serious this is.’” Listen here:

Palin Says She Will Seek Some Authority Over Legislative And Judicial Branches
In an interview with Fox News’ Carl Cameron this morning, Palin attempted to explain what she meant about “the flexibility of the vice presidency.” “The vice president, of course, is not a member — or a part of the legislative branch, except to oversee the Senate,” said Palin. “That alone provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and authority if that vice president so chose to use it.”
Palin’s fuzzy answers on the power of the Office of the Vice President do not inspire confidence, considering that she has a record of Cheney-like secrecy and has refused to say whether her office will legally be part of the Executive branch. As the LA Times’ Jim Newton notes, Article 2, Section 1 of “the Constitution makes it clear to most scholars that the vice president is part of the executive branch.”
Palin’s views of the office appear to be so in line with Cheney’s that during her interview with Katie Couric, the only bad thing that Palin could say Cheney had done in office was accidentally shooting his friend in the face.

FAA faulted for laxness on maintenance outsourcing
By JOAN LOWY, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Nine U.S. airlines outsourced more than 70 percent of their major aircraft maintenance last year, and federal aviation officials' oversight of repair facilities is lagging, according to a government report.
One-fourth of the outsourced maintenance is being handled by contractors overseas.
The Transportation Department's inspector general said the outsourcing, which has more than doubled in four years, was of concern because the Federal Aviation Administration has failed to closely track how much maintenance is farmed out and where it is performed...

Pam,
imho, this arrogant statement about how SHE intends to abuse the power of the Executive using some bogus claim about the Vice Presidency has harmed the McCain campaign beyond repair.
She torpedoed any credibility she or McCain had as reformers. It illustrated better than anything that McCain will be just another eight years of Bush.
Up until this debate they may have had a fighting chance to pulling off the maverick claim with some Independents. Not any longer. Those cutesy winks and mugs now only emphasize a contempt for the Constitution and the rights of the American people...that no one could mistake.
She lost it for them...in the last five minutes of the debate. Actually, she's probably sunk the entire Republican Party for decades with her cavalier manner of dismissing the vital oversight function of the Congress.
After this administration's WMD lies resulted in a costly needless war and their disregard for regulation ending in the current economic meltdown, how could any politician be so stupid as to suggest it should continue?
She made the case for us. Palin/McCain will be a third term of Cheney/Bush.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - John Thomas has lots of reasons to support John McCain for president.>
Like McCain, Thomas is a former Navy officer. They're about the same age, and Thomas considers himself a political independent with a conservative bent.
But Thomas, a one-time supporter of President Bush, said McCain running mate Sarah Palin's recent interviews sealed his decision to vote for Democrat Barack Obama.
"She's not prepared at all," Thomas, 70, said as he loaded groceries into his car outside a Sam's Club warehouse store on the outskirts of Huntsville. He said listening to Palin argue that Alaska's proximity to Russia was a foreign policy credential "frightened me to death."
"I went out on the golf course Thursday and that was what everyone was talking about," Thomas said. "They're very frightened about McCain and his age ... and to have Palin a heartbeat away."
Even in the staunchly Republican South, Palin is facing deep skepticism about her qualifications heading into Thursday night's debate with her Democratic counterpart, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. The wave of enthusiasm here that greeted the Alaska governor's conservative positions on social and religious issues remains in many quarters, but it has been tempered by uncertainty about her readiness, particularly among moderates...

Sooner or later justice, of one sort or another, prevails.
Sept. 18, 2008 | In April 2000, under the direction of then-Mayor Sarah Palin, the Wasilla City Council passed a resolution declaring itself a "City of Character." Adopted unanimously, the resolution pledged that the city would "do all in its power" to promote "positive and constructive character qualities which distinguish between right and wrong," which the resolution predicted could work a range of wonders, from reducing juvenile delinquency to increasing corporate profits. Thanks to Palin's efforts, Wasilla is now among roughly 200 cities nationwide (and others in 27 countries around the world) that have committed themselves -- in name, at least -- to following the teachings of the International Association of Character Cities (IACC), an organization that purports to be secular but is modeled on the evangelical teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP).
Palin's personal connection to IACC, and her efforts to bring its agenda to Wasilla as mayor, sheds new light on her connections to the Christian far right, as well as her willingness to infuse government with its ideals rooted in religion. Her championing of IACC principles raises further questions about Palin's views on running government, including the hiring and firing of government employees, an area in which she has come under intense scrutiny in part due to her involvement in "trooper gate."...

news, Wall Street bears part of the blame, but so do many people on Main Street. A lot were misled, true, but there were many who thought it was time for them to make a "quick buck". Well, remember that old adage, if it SOUNDS too good to be true, it probably IS? They didn't. Now, I'm not saying we shouldn't help them. Just that they also should admit their responsibility. Of course, ti's not like the bailout package will actually help them, I'm sure...does it HAVE any bailout for Main Street? Or is it just another "Fuck you, mean it" from our "feed the rich" government?

Then I suppose that would mean you would favor federally funded elections where all parties would get a portion of the money pool based on the last election results? Let's take private money out of politics all together. If every citizen were charged $5 every other year, that would amount to rougly $1.5 billion for all of the parties to divide for each two year election cycle.

Barack Obama Never Organized with ACORNDiscredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. (For more about Barack’s career, check out our Obama bio.)
Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Barack and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.
Blackwell’s attacks against ACORN and community organizers continue a vile Republican pattern of mockery and viciousness against this noble profession. Community organizers are the very individuals Republicans should be celebrating for helping people to help themselves rather than depending on the government...

Next Generation Swift BoatersIn 2004, Harold Simmons was the biggest funder of the manipulative smear group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In 2008, Simmons is the sole donor funding a vicious attack ad in some battleground states that uses tortured logic and clumsy innuendo to invent a tie between Barack Obama and terrorism.
The ad goes completely beyond the pale by cynically exploiting the tragedy of 9/11 in an unfounded connection with Chicago academic William Ayers. Then it claims that Ayers somehow launched Barack Obamas career an assertion so outlandish that not even Simmons fellow discredited Swift Boater Jerome Corsi included it in his smear book.
The ad may even be a criminal violation of campaign finance laws. Simmons has previously been fined tens of thousands of dollars for campaign finance violations including forging the signatures of his own daughters to make political contributions from trust funds.

Who is Behind these Lies?
David Bossie, who runs Citizens United, has paired with Floyd Brown for years. Bossie and Brown harassed the Clintons throughout Bill Clinton's administration, with even George H.W. Bush calling his behavior in the 1992 presidential election (which included harassing the family of a recent suicide victim) "filthy campaign tactics." After writing a 2000 book about Al Gore that went little-noticed, in 2004, Brown and Floyd Bossie, working as the group Citizens United, made a movie called Celsius 41.11 and ran television ads attacking John Kerry. In 1998, Bossie was fired from his job with the House Committee investigating Bill Clinton. When Bossie selectively released tapes, removing information that exonerated the Clintons, and improperly obtained phone records, even Newt Gingrich said he was "embarrassed for the conference at the circus that went on."Then-President George Bush: "We will do whatever we can to stop any filthy campaign tactics." [Press Conference, 7/15/92]
Current President George W. Bush sent a letter to 85,697 major donors urging them not to contribute to the Bossie/Brown groups in 1992. [Washington Post, 7/15/92]
George H.W. Bush's campaign, referred to Bossie, Floyd Brown, and their associates as "the lowest forms of life." [Hunting of the President]
Newt Gingrich: "I'm embarrassed for myself, and I'm embarrassed for the conference at the circus that went on" under Bossie in the House investigation of Clinton-Gore campaign finances. [Washington Post, 5/7/98]
Dan Burton, Bossie's Boss in the House: "He released information on Mr. Huang's telephone records without my knowledge or approval. I have told him in no uncertain terms that I do not allow my staff to release any information, including documents, without my approval, and that I do not expect this to happen again." [Roll Call, 11/25/96]
Floyd Brown, the leader of the National Campaign Fund, the Legacy Committee, Citizens for a Safe and Prosperous America and the Policy Issues Institute, once bragged he was part of the "the heart and soul of the right-wing conspiracy," and has a history of surfacing every four years to make right-wing attacks against Democrats in presidential elections. Most infamously, Brown was responsible for the 1988 "Willie Horton" ad against Michael Dukakis. Brown harassed the Clintons throughout Bill Clinton's administration, with even George H.W.
USA Today: "[Brown has] established himself as one of the nation's dirtiest political strategists."
[USA Today, 10/26/92]George Stephanopoulos: "Floyd Brown is a slimy thug for hire."
[Washington Post, 4/19/94]Mary Matalin: "I'm not a big fan of Floyd Brown...He gave us the Willie Horton ads that the Republican Party has had to eat for two election cycles now."
[New York Times, 4/24/94]Salon: "If there is a racist odor to the coming general election campaign, it is likely to emanate from his vicinity."
[Salon, 4/25/08]Bob Perry is one of the biggest Republican donors in the country and was the main financier of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004, giving $4.5 million. The ads produced by the Swift Boat effort were so disingenuous that John McCain himself denounced them as “dishonest and dishonorable.”
In 2006, Perry was again the top contributor to 527 groups, giving them more than $9 million.
His contributions were more than the next two biggest donors combined. Perry even funded an anti-gay ad in Montana that referred to “Brokebank Democrats” and ads featuring the home phone numbers of Democratic candidates.
Craig Shirley, who runs Stop-Him-Now.com, was a McCain campaign consultant and endorser until the campaign was faced with the possible illegal arrangement. Shirley, another member of the team that produced the Willie Horton ads in 1988, harassed the Clinton administration for years, staging the press conference where Paula Jones was introduced. Shirley not only represented “Unlimited Access,” a book described as “second-hand, unsubstantiated sexual rumors about and bitter attacks against President and Mrs. Clinton,” but also represents Ann Coulter’s books.
Bruce Hawkins, the Executive Director of the National Campaign Fund, has been involved in Republican campaigns for 20 years. Hawkins was recently disbarred in Washington state for violating four rules of professional conduct, running a business that promised to reduce credit card debt (but did not), and lying about conflict of interest. The same year, Hawkins was "permanently enjoined" by the justice department "from promoting tax-fraud schemes" after setting up illegal offshore tax shelters.
James Lacy is the treasurer and general counsel of the National Campaign Fund. He was the treasurer for the Legacy Committee; is the contact for the Policy Issues Institute; and is the treasurer for Citizens for a Safe and Prosperous America. Lacy is a "long-time conservative activist" and a "soldier in the conservative movement for many, many years." Lacy, who served as a lawyer for the Minutemen, once said he was "willing to do whatever it takes to preserve the Minuteman Project." Lacy also co-founded the United States Justice Foundation, an organization that got its start in "reverse-discrimination" suits.

Well, there is one thing we can agree on. However, it is up to the people of N. Korea, and to an extent S. Korea, to rectify that situation this time, as opposed to the early 1950's, without outside interference.
The_Evil_Dr*Burd on October 4, 2008 at 02:11 PM
Agreed. However, there are a significant number of Democrats, albeit a minority, who would've, and still do, support major increases to border security and significant crackdowns on illegal immigration.

[Yawn] Not the "blame the democrats" spin again, is it? None the less, since you want to engage in facts, let's do so.
...It was Senator Dodd, Congressman Frank and other liberal Democrats who for years refused requests from the Bush administration to set up an agency to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.It was liberal Democrats, again led by Dodd and Frank, who for years pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go even further in promoting subprime mortgage loans, which are at the heart of today's financial crisis.
Alan Greenspan warned them four years ago. So did the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President. So did Bush's Secretary of the Treasury, five years ago.
Yet, today, what are we hearing? That it was the Bush administration "right-wing ideology" of "de-regulation" that set the stage for the financial crisis. Do facts matter?...
Mr. Sowell must be ignorant to the fact that the GOP controlled the Congress from 1995 until 2007. Alan Greenspan warned the GOP controlled Congress four years ago. Secretary Paul O'Neill warned the GOP controlled Congress five years ago.
...But the facts show that it was the government that pressured financial institutions in general to lend to subprime borrowers, with such things as the Community Reinvestment Act and, later, threats of legal action by then Attorney General Janet Reno if the feds did not like the statistics on who was getting loans and who wasn't...
Yeah, silly us for wanting to keep an eye on a GOP controlled Congress notorious for being partial to people who are white, Christian, and rich. So I supposeit is the position of you and\or Mr. Sowell that African-Americans and other minorities are the cause of the sub-prime mortgage meltdown. Well, that is classic GOP politics.
...The tie between Barack Obama and Franklin Raines is not all one-way. Obama has been the second-largest recipient of Fannie Mae's financial contributions, right after Senator Christopher Dodd...
It is a direct violation of FEC laws for an organization to give campaign contributions to candidates. And since the GOP still controls the Dept. of Justice, why haven't y'all started a criminal investigation?
In closing, the GOP is desperate and grasping at straws. This is nothing more than yet another smear by the equivalent of "Swift Boat" attack entity this time in the guise of one Thomas Sowell who is notorious for his views on deregulation as if every one who is rich would never be greedy. Right... we don't know any greedy rich people, do we?

I blogged on barack's website that he needs to do an ad showing that McCain wanted to privatize social security. Can you imagine the scare that would be, when the markets are swinging wildly with speculation. The 50 and overs won't vote McCain if they know that.
I also said he needs to do an ad showing McCain voted for CAFTA. I googled, "who voted for cafta" McCain voted for it and barack did an open letter stating why he would not support it. This would really pull in the working class white males in Penn., MI, OH and elsewhere.
Hopefully he has already done it.
Bye, bye repubicans.

Good night Dems, going to town, and help raise the economy, have a good night and a better tomorrow. Blog you all tommorrow.
Hazing, is an often ritualistic test and a task, which may constitute harassment, abuse or humiliation with requirements to perform random, often meaningless tasks, sometimes as a way of initiation into a social group. The definition can refer to either physical (sometimes violent) or mental (possibly degrading) practices; it may also include an 'erotic' element (notably nudity).
This is good definition of the resident asshat, trolls. HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK.
Ayers and Al-Mansour appear to have been in contact

See that's the difference between a republican voter and a democrat voter. The word "appear" is not factual and does not fly with us.
I feel sorry for you dan and people like you, I really do. I think you are OCD you just get onto something and can't stop, even when it is obvious you are soo wrong. Have a great night Dan it really must be hell being you.
Below is an invisable link, because I am majic, of Brian Williams on David Letterman, pretty good stuff. So McCain uses the excuse that because Keith is on MSNBC he won't let Brian interview her. Barack went of Fixed News with Billo the Clown.
