What was going on at (President) Obama's Rally today where he had to defend a protester? Why doesn't McCain and Palin condemn the cries for murder during their rallies?
I wish I could see the answers to my post, but I guess that my browser (Firefox) wont let me expand the comments... I click, but I don't see. I tried restarting both Browser and Computer... Maybe it's just me... Anyways, I hope I get to read a blurb about today's incedent... Thanks anyways... And Mobilize in your Community... Donate a little bit more... Don't assume the Polls are correct... Google "The Bradley Effect"... Obama is likely 3 points lower and McCain 3 points higher due to people (Racists) Lying to pollsters
Marymac, I sincerely hope you're correct when you theorize about Gov. Palin becoming the next VP Quayle. Unfortunately, I think she'll become the next GWB and appeal to the ignorant masses in 2012.
Democrat Crying out for the Murder of Obama??? Let me have some of what you are smoking... I switched to IE so I could read the posts... If you think that Sarah McPalin is going to centrist or even liberal neighborhoods, you are crazy... I live in Florida, and the places where their speeches are held are the most redneck-racist communities in the state... Maybe not the most racist, the most racist places don't have the population to make an attack speech look good on TV... The 5-10% of liberals in the neighborhoods where those speeches were held wouldn't dare let there neighbors know they are liberal for fear of seeing burning crosses on their lawn... while Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach have high liberal percentages (despite their high income levels) the rest of the state of Florida belongs to the Bible Belt of the South

It's not working on my Firefox either. Give it a few days and the staff will fix it...or not. You can just wait a few minutes and then go back to the thread you posted back on the main blog. When you hit the comment button, your post and all the rest of the comments will appear. Inconvenient but it works.
Careful - you seem a bit too proud of the racists who lie to Pollsters and contribute to "The Bradley Effect"

Bwwwwaaahahahahahahaha! Obama losing? Bwwwwaaaahahahahahaha! You ought to take that comedy act on the road, Sally. You go on and keep hoping for that Bradley Effect. This is 2008, not 1978.
I'll let you in on a little secret. If Sen. Obama carries VA, PA, and NC on 4NOV08 go ahead save yourself the torture by turning off your TV. There will be no way Sen. McCain could catch up.
The Republicans make you sign a GOP oath to get a ticket to one of these McCain or Palin events. I'm surprised the Fundies allow Catholics to attend at all, but then the evangelicals can't be too picky when McCain is slipping so fast in the polls.
OPEC members seek emergency meetingBy Carola Hoyos in London
Published: October 8 2008 17:48 | Last updated: October 8 2008 17:48
Almost half the members of the Opec oil cartel are considering an emergency meeting in Vienna next month as oil prices dropped to their lowest level in nearly a year.
Almost half the members of cartel have in the past few days called on the group to act to halt the slide before their next official meeting scheduled to take place in Algeria in late December.
Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Iraq, Venezuela and Ecuador, whose economies tend to be most dependent on high oil prices and whose ministers are among the most hawkish of the 13-member group, have all lobbied for the cartel to drop output.
Their calls came as oil consuming nations moved to bolster their economies in a co-ordinated interest rate cut.
Oil prices on Wednesday resumed their slide towards $85 a barrel, a level last reached in December last year.
Nymex November West Texas Intermediate fell $3.06 to $87 a barrel, while ICE November Brent slid $2.96 to $81.
Opec’s next meeting was scheduled for December 18 in Algeria, but ministers are now saying they could meet on November 18 in Vienna, site of the group’s headquarters...

Twitch you sorry bastards, twitch. But isn't it interesting that while we've seen a roughly 40% drop in oil prices we've only seen about a 20% drop in gas prices? That's OK. A DOJ run by Democrats will take care of all of the gougers.

Todd and Sarah: "Chosen Vessels of God."
So was George Bush chosen by God they said...and look how that turned out.
On Wednesday morning, John McCain's campaign released a list of 100 former ambassadors endorsing the GOP presidential nominee.
Second on the list is Leonore Annenberg (her name mispelled). She is president and chairman of the Annenberg foundation - Ayers' board.
I hope Ayers comes up in a debate
"It was never a concern by any of us in the Chicago school reform movement that he (Ayers) had led a fugitive life years earlier ... It's ridiculous," Republican Rep. Diana Nelson said. "There is no reason at all to smear Barack Obama with this association. It's nonsensical, and it just makes me crazy. It's so silly."
For all of you that think Obama is losing, then think of it this way,

Members of audience get chance to go one-on-one with candidates
Tuesday's presidential debate at Belmont University was a carefully orchestrated affair, one that was intended to make this event a barometer of what the nation wants from its next president.
But from inside the Curb Event Center, there was an audience that was unafraid to react to candidates' responses, or their lack thereof — something that didn't always show up on camera.
In addition to the chuckles moderator Tom Brokaw drew when he repeatedly addressed time constraints on candidate responses, reactions from audience members ranged from holding head in hands to chuckling at candidates' responses and squabbles.
Before the debate, many audience members tried to see how many national political figures they could pick out of the crowd seated directly below the network camera platform. Al and Tipper Gore received special recognition from the debate commission and were treated to a standing ovation.
Ben Raybin was one of the 80 people who participated in the town hall session. The Vanderbilt University law student didn't get to ask his question (which was on Iraq), but he said what happened in the hall after the debate was perhaps the most informative moment of the evening.
He said John McCain stayed around for a few minutes and then quickly left, but Barack Obama stuck around for about 30 minutes afterward signing autographs and snapping photos with the participants.
Raybin said that personal touch made a strong impression on almost everyone at the debate.

For those interested, here is a paper analyzing the Bradley Effect from a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard. The conclusion is that the Bradley Effect has just about evaporated over the past 26 years when Mayor Bradley lost the CA governor's race after polling ahead by 10% the day before the election.
Josh wonders if McCain is losing it
In most political speeches, the common refrain is "my fellow citizens".
John McCain just referred to the country as "my fellow prisoners."
McCain: "Across this country, this is the agenda I have set before my fellow prisoners and the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent."
Josh has a video.
John McCain is the candidate because it is his turn. It is payoff for letting W take it in 2000.
The present crisis was precipitated by subprime lending by mortgage brokers. They made hugh commissions by persuading people to take these ruinous mortgage terms even when they qualified for a standard mortgage.
We should be prepared for major problems at election time. Oct. 1st - Military starts Martial Law Mission. Don't forget the Bush regime suspended the Posse Comitatus and that now permits the U.S. Military to be used against its citizens.

Good to "see" you again, BYD. In VA, when oil hit $100\barrel, gas hit $3/gal.. Oil is now in the mid $80's and gas is $3.50/gal.. This definitely requires an investigation.

NASS Fact Sheet: State Voter Registration Figures for the 2008 General Election
BACKGROUND
As of October 8, 2008 the voter registration deadline has passed in 28 of the 48 states (plus the District of Columbia) which have such deadlines. Thirteen of the remaining 20 states have a voter registration deadline that falls within the next week.
Nine states have some form of same-day registration: Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Two states—Connecticut and Rhode Island—offer Election Day registration for those who want to vote for president. North Dakota does not require voter registration at all.
Three states have so far reported registration records for 2008 – Ohio, Minnesota and Washington. Ohio reported more than 8.1 million registered voters for November 2008, the highest number of registered voters in that state’s history. Minnesota and Washington also reported significant increases in voter registrations, with both states surpassing previous state records.
VOTER REGISTRATION NUMBERS IN 2008 BATTLEGROUND STATES
Key battleground states with the highest jumps in voter registration figures since the beginning of 2008, or since their 2008 presidential primary/caucus, include: Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Meanwhile, Indiana, which saw large increases in voter registrations for their 2008 presidential primaries, has seen sustained levels of new voter registrations since that time.

33Esmeralda on October 8, 2008 at 08:00 PM good evening, everyone.
Hi, Esme.
Proverbs 10:10 "(S)he who winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin."
Esmeralda
Doesn't bode well for you asshats does it?
Thoughts for the day.
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do" to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife
after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers,
but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama were a member of the "Keating 5"?
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.
Don't forget: What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter......
Hey, Esmeralda
People are still making chicken jokes about the chicken's unrelenting aspirations to cross the road ...
Tito Mboweni: "We need a tollgate there, to charge these chickens when they cross the road. By the way, that chicken will cost R5 more from next Wednesday."
I find that so unchicken like.
Hey, Pam - nice to meet-up in real time.
dorsano
Fortunately for you, it wasn't a meet-up for real. You'd probably would've ended up in a ditch with a knot on the back of your head and your wallet missing.
And the faint memory of last having heard "Donations for Obama".
39Esmeralda on October 8, 2008 at 08:16 PM Thoughts for the day. What if ....
Most all the country has already answered those questions, Esme - and the majority won't be voting for what John McCain has chosen to represent.
Good evening, all.
What's with the Republicans' new emphasis on painting Chicago as some sort of Sadr City? I've heard Palin and McCain both slam Chicago in their attacks in the last week.
I've got news for these doorknobs. A lot of us in the Midwest think Chicago is the greatest. It has all the energy of the big East Coast and New South cities without the hassle. One could easily suggest that the Chicago Metro area includes sections of Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Missouri.
And the rest of us in the Midwest and Great Plains states identify with the people of Chicago, too.
Heck, I'm a Cardinal fan but no Republican better start a fight with me over whether the Cubs fans are unpatriotic aliens (perhaps aliens in the Area 51 sense?) when I know them to be All American, apple pie, and the best pizza in the country folks.
Does the McCain camp really want to alienate voters from all the Midwestern states they really need?
Apparently, so. Let's keep a close eye on what the Dysfunctional Duo are saying about Chicago in the coming week. Steps may have to be taken to re-educate them. I can think of some creative ways and I have media contacts who would be more than happy to do it.

They are "Mavericks" - and obviously not Cubs fans (and probably not White Sox fans either since Obama is one).

Hannity has been ragging on Barack Obama for weeks now calling him a terrorist. If the happen to steal the election, Obama should sue hannity for $500 billion.
If the election were held today, it looks like John McCain would lose Nevada
John McCain cannot win Nevada without a big, big margin in District 2. It is simply impossible.
Bush won the state by just three points in 2000 - 51% to 48% - and he did so by racking up a 16-point margin in NV-02. His margin of victory in NV-02 was 20 points in 2000, when he also won the state by the slim margin of three points. The Las Vegas-based First District is as Democratic as the Second is Republican, and the Third is a swing district that leans slightly Democratic.
the state repug party have the grandest "caging" scheme going through the courts here.
I was talking with a Mexican foreman today on my project and he said that things are the same in Mexico as they are here. The rich rule and don't trickle a damn thing down to the peons.
We were talking about our a large part of our manufacturing base that has moved to northern Mexico. He said that the exchange rate is 10 Pesos to a Dollar. Our companies go south and pay them as little as possible and pocket the rest. We are doing the same thing all over the planet and I for one am sick of it.
WE NEED CHANGE! WE NEED TARIFFS! WE NEED TO TACK THE CRAP OUT OF THE RICH!
Every night entertainment tonight has an orgasm over the wicked bitch from the north. They even show mcgeezer. THEY DO NOT SHOW ANYTHING ON OBAMA!
Today they were comparing the wicked bitch from the north to ronald raygun.
These people from CBS are losers.
Lots of rumors about fraud by the Democrats.
You make me ashamed.
Hmmm ... Norm Coleman (R), U.S. Senator from MN (up for re-election) is getting some scrutiny
Coleman's people insist he's done nothing wrong. But they steadfastly refuse to answer any questions about gifts from Kazeminy. That is meant literally; Coleman's campaign manager held a press conference today in which he was peppered with questions about these gifts, Laurie Coleman's job, and various other ethics issues.
mcgeezer is a racist pig! Last night her referred to Obama as "that one" and he barely looked at him.
Apparently the disgusting brokeoff (sp?) set up the debate to favor mcgeezer. In the runup to the debate he visited mcgeezer's headquarters twice. He did NOT visit Obama's.
He set up this so called retired navy dude. He just happened to be in the front row and asked mccain a setup question. mccain gushed all over the guy. He went up to him and shook his hand.
brokeoff also gave mcgeezer free reign. He stopped Obama several times and changed the subject when the time was up but he let mcgeezer go on and on.
I think the next debate should be run by a non-neocon jerk. We should insist that it be Olberman.
Well - goodnight, all. My better half is finally home from work.
At last count, mcgeezer has flip flopped 72 times.
I think we have another. Before the $700 billion bill came up for a vote, mcgeezer was against giving money for homeowners. He just wanted to bail out rich dudes. He said that these homeowners got themselves into this mess and they should get themselves out.
Last night he flipped entirely saying that he was for re-negotiating the mortgages with part of the $700 billion. Obama told him that it is already in the bill.
This is all mcgeezer has. He has nothing else to help the middle class. He doesn't give a shit about anyone making less than $5,000,000 a year.
This guy is not fit to be a pissant.

Night Dems. I shall head out too. Blog ya all tomorrow...........
Why I have changed my party affiliation to Democrat:
* The Democratic Party represents the lower and middle class Americans while the Republican Party seems to represent ONLY the upper class and their interest.
* Democrats are better stewards of the economy. In the past 24 years or so spending is way higher under the two Bush regimes then Clinton. If I am not mistaken Clinton balanced the budget during his tenure whereas now we have huge federal deficits again under the Republican leadership.
* We have a lot of unnecessary lost of life in this Iraq war in which I still can't justify our involvement over there in the first place.
* Democrats are better stewards of this Earth since they have better environmental policies. The Republicans have historically been against the environment. Their track record proves it.
* Religious values-I used to think that Republicans represented religious beliefs better then Democrats. Politics and religion do not mix and need to be separate which the Democrats agree with more. I know the conservative Republicans are against abortion and gay marriage but these issues should be kept out of government. We should not be judging others and forcing our agenda on other lifestyles. That is between God and them. People of religious value are supposed to love and give or serve the less fortunate in which the Democrats do WAY BETTER then the Republicans. If it were not for the Democrats, I am afraid there would be a lot of oppression going on. We need corporate regulations which the Republicans are more likely to resist. I also think the Democrats represent peace and justice which are religious values.
In summary, I can't really think of any reason to vote Republican anymore. Democrats represent 95% of Americans and the Republicans represent the wealthy 5% yet I can't understand why so many voters are swayed by the Republican way of thinking since they are so out of touch with most Americans.
I am so grateful for having political discussions with Shelly in our car pool arrangement. She has really helped me see the light by listening to her and it really reinforced the fact that the Democratic Party is where I need to be. Thank you Shelly, I am forever grateful to you.
All I ask is that Republicans of all generations be open to improved changes. You can change status quo which hasn't been too pleasant recently or remain the same. I am very excited about changing my party affiliation.
parently, so. Let's keep a close eye on what the Dysfunctional Duo are saying about Chicago in the coming week. Steps may have to be taken to re-educate them. I can think of some creative ways and I have media contacts who would be more than happy to do it.
44SandyH on October 8, 2008 at 08:31 PM
Sandy,
What did I ever do to them?
The new mantra of the ruling American elites, of the heads of the two branches (Republican & Democrat) of the One Party Police State is to embargo Russia as punishment for Georgia's war of aggression and extermination upon the Ossetian people.
Yes, dear reader, this makes about as much sense as cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Not only is America, yet again and again, taking the side of mass murderers (I could write a very long article listing all the sociopaths that the US has backed in the past 50 years), but it is willing to damage its own critically ill economy to make symbolic gestures at Russia. Why?
An intelligent person would consider that maybe there is some deeper plan, some darker conspiracy going on, but no, there is none of either. What Russia is facing is pure American stupidity and vindictiveness, driven to such a degree, that it no longer recognizes when the real damage will be to its own people and its own interest, or for that matter really cares.
As such, the Russian government, never mind the billions extra held by Russian companies, holds $65 Billion in US government debt. The most obvious thing that the Russian government should than do is liquidate this debt. If nothing else, a fire sale of this proportion will have a major down ward pressure on all other US debt, costing the US far more than those $65 billion and throwing into doubt their ability to finance further without seriously raising interest rates and thus squeezing their serfs even more. Do you understand that US taxpayers? Your government is about to make your difficult lives much worse, and by the time you grow up to be adults and realize this, it will be to late.
The final card in the Russian economic arsenal, is of course the most devastating. This card can fully damage the entire US financial sector right from critically injured to mortally. Russia, as the world's 2nd largest oil exporter and the world's largest gas exporter, can refuse the US dollar, outright.
This will have the effect of removing the only reason why the US dollar is a reserve currency: to buy and sell petroleum products. All those European, Japanese, Chinese and other customers will no longer need the dollar, thus will sell it. This will have a sharp impact on dollar demand and with all those dollars flooding back into America , will drive inflation well past the US government's ability to lie about it. With Iran already refusing, the 3rd largest, the renewed US inflation caused by the explosion in inflation will have the same effect upon any nation whose currency is linked to the USD.
Of all such currency Saudi Arabia's is the key. Already SA is facing almost a 30% inflation and the serfs are angry as the cost of imported rice, a main dietary staple, has more than doubled. What will happen if inflation really accelerates? Either Riyadh will leave the dollar or face revolution. Either way, the dollar will loose its final anchor and its status as reserve currency. With this blow will go what is left of America 's economy and empire.
So, when US politicians are mouthing off and taking trade war steps, maybe they had best stop, for once in their lives, and actually do the math as to whom will be the real loser.
Much more............
I keep hearing about this Bill Ayers guy. He's never been convicted of a crime, he worked for the mayor of Chicago, and now he works for the University of Chicago and seems to have a really good insight on education. You know who we should be hearing about?
G. Gordon Liddy.
Nobody really wanted to go there just like no one wanted to bring up Keating or that whole thing with the commies and the contras.
I would rather hear about the issues, but he McPlain ticket just won't stop dragging up old shit that is bound to hurt them in the long run.
President Asshole is painting us into a corner. He is so f**king stupid that he doesn't have a clue or he is planning for the rapture.

I find myself worried that the thing with the Ukraine is some kind of set-up. If you recall the first debate, McCain was carrying on about Ukraine being next, watch out for Ukraine. Like he knew something no one else did. I hope this isn't some kind of "October suprise". I've been worried about that since he said it. Remember Putin saying there were CIA people in Osatia? I don't know if I believe him, he is Putin, but that's a pretty strong accusation if you can't back it up. I hope nothing comes of this, but I'm already worried about some kind of wag the dog stuff.

I heard on progressive radio today that they have tied mccain to raygun's Iran/Contra Scandal.
If you will recall, Jimmy Carter was swift-boated by raygun and his gang.
If raygun had been prosecuted and impeached, we would be energy independent today.
Robert Kennedy wants everyone voting for Obama that up to 5 million democrats may be deleted from the rolls, not allowed to vote and/or who’s votes will be mysteriously deleted. For more info go to stealbackyourvote.com
Mike,
We had one thousand marines in Georgia training with the Georgian army just before their genocidal war against Osetia.
Prior to this training mission, we had advisors training the Georgian army. During Goergia's attack on Osetia where they killed 2,000 Russians the Osetians reported that they heard people among the attackers speaking English.
bush and cheney are dangerous psychopaths and should have been impeached in 2003.
Look what these war criminals have done to our country. It is unforgiveable. They must be sent to the Hague and tried for war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity and hanged.
I think the Democrats need to tell everyone NOW that after the election, win or lose, they will be initiating an investigation. The country needs to know what dirty tricks the Republicans tried. Now is the time to put the republican on notice because some of them will go to JAIL.
It was announced today by the White House that Iran was really nice to us right after 9/11. They stopped Arabs at their border who were fleeing the country and took their pictures.
It was reported at the time that Iranians held candlelight processions in Tehran and really appeared to be supporting us.
Then President Asshole and Vice President Asshole screwed the pooch and included them in their axis of evil. That really pissed them off and it has been downhill ever since.
mcgeezer would feed right into the fear bush and cheney created and keep pounding on Iran until they retaliate.
Both Russia and China said they would not tolerate an attack on Iran. The Russian are building a nuclear power plant in Tehran and aren't about to take any shit from us.
the October surprise may be an nuclear attack on Iran turning it into an uninhabitable wasteland.
bush would get his rapture because the Russian would launch their ICBM's against American cities and take out all cities of any size.
This would truly be a return to the stone age for America.
Chicago,
I agree these animals need to be brought to justice.
I heard today where the governor of Nevada raided the offices of ACORN in the company of a U.S. Attorney and if I remember correctly the FBI.
limpballs has been whining about ACORN all week.
Didn't bush just give AIG $85 billion and we found out that their arrogant leaders just spent $400,000 at a plush resort in California.
Now bush has approved giving them another $38 billion.
Someone stop the merry-go-round. I want to get off.
Either bush, cheney or mcgeezer will take us into WWIII. It will be the world against us. Our only allies would be Ukraine, Poland, Georgia and Albania. What a coalition.
This blog has almost as many problems as the RNC. It least we have some hope of this working out in the end. ;)

Johne,
Republican dirty tricks with voting are going on all over this country. Especially in NW Indiana. I don't think it will be enough for them this time. That is why it is important we investigate it this time. If you lose an election and you call for an investigation, it is "sour grapes". But if you call for an investigation after you WIN...
I want to see some of these republican bastards go to jail for blocking the vote of fellow Americans!
Free Sarah Palin and her supporters
The nation deserves no less.
You know, with Reed handing Hannity's ass to him last night and O'riley getting beat down and put in his place by Barney Frank the other day, I might have actually found a reason to watch Faux News
What a couple of Ass clowns. You should go look at the crazy neo-con blogs, they were beside themselves about the thing with hannity. It's freakin hilarious.

I am with you there!
Hi Chicago - how are ya'?
i happened to catch michele obama on larry king. wow is she able to think on her feet and give complex, layered responses to any question asked of her. really puts sarah's babble and that of cindy ( and john as well ) in focus. i really think the country will decide to go with brains this time....and clearly barack, michele and biden ( and his wife i figure ) are way ahead of the john, cindy, sarah and todd team.
mcbush and sarah, dumb and getting dumber...
WSJ:
WASHINGTON -- Sen. John McCain's $300 billion plan to help homeowners struggling with mortgage debt carries big potential benefits for the troubled real-estate sector, but could reduce the funds available for rescuing banks.
The proposal, which Sen. McCain announced during Tuesday night's presidential debate with Sen. Barack Obama, also could make winners out of investors -- including predatory mortgage lenders -- that the Bush administration and Congress have tried to exclude from the government's largesse...
yup, dumb, dumber, dumbest now that cindy has opened her thin lipped mouth,
again the WSJ:
The GOP Peddles Economic Snake Oil
Suddenly Republicans are against market values?
By THOMAS FRANK
OK, let me get this straight: The central axiom of conservative Republicanism is that government is inherently corrupt and can't do anything right.
Over many years of ascendancy, conservative Republicans have filled government agencies with conservative Republicans and proceeded to enact the conservative Republican policy wish list -- tax cuts, deregulation, privatization, outsourcing federal work, and so on.
And as a consequence of these policies our conservative Republican government has bungled most of the big tasks that have fallen to it. The rescue and recovery of the Gulf Coast was a disaster. The reconstruction of Iraq was a disaster. The regulatory agencies became so dumb they didn't even see the disasters they were set up to prevent. And each disaster was attributable to the conservative philosophy of government.
Yet now we are supposed to vote for more conservative Republicans because we learned from the last bunch of conservative Republicans that government just doesn't work.
That is the advice of Sarah Palin, Republican vice-presidential nominee, in last week's debate with her Democratic counterpart, discussing the dread prospect of universal health care: "Unless you're pleased with the way the federal government has been running anything lately, I don't think that it's going to be real pleasing for Americans to consider health care being taken over by the feds."
Conservative misrule, prompted by conservative disdain for government, proves that government cannot be trusted -- and that the only answer is to elect another round of government-denouncing conservatives.
"Cynicism" seems too small a word for this circular kind of political fraud...

gregg on October 8, 2008 at 11:53 PM
Gregg,
YOur up late tonight.
Good to see you.
Chicago (and anyone else who has a comment on this matter): Did you watch the debate last night? I have had a sinus infection and I took some medicine and was drifting in and out but I did not care for the over-all tone of Sen. McCain. His body language was herky-jerky agressive - like that of a bad gangsta' break dancer and the wandering around like he wasn't sure where he actually was or belonged. I also noticed the vein in his neck was pulsing more than usual - I'm honestly starting to have some concerns about the toll that this whole thing is taking on his health. Seriously. I may disagree with his politics and not hold him in particularly high regard but I don't want him to become seriously ill or die. What did you observe?
Oh - and to Gregg - Mrs. Biden (Jill) is actually Dr. Jill Biden, PhD in Education, graduated Magna Cum Laude and Member in good standing in Mensa. It may be that of them all (candidates and family members, she's the smartest of the bunch!) Isn't It always those quite ones you gotta' watch out for! Thank God that this one is on our side!
:-0)))
hang on to that zog poll sally, it's one of the few that has mcbush that close.....and we all remember zog's great 04 prediction of the Kerry win....surprised you don't follow your realclearpolitics right wing roll up of polls...that has obama up 5.1 percent nationally and these battleground state poll roll ups should be interesting for you asshole:
Colorado 49.3 45.3 Obama +4.0
Ohio 48.9 44.9 Obama+4.0
Florida 48.3 45.3 Obama+3.0
Nevada 49.6 46.6 Obama +3.0
Missouri 47.8 47.5 Obama +0.3
Virginia 49.9 45.1 Obama +4.8
The Zogby poll has Obama ahead by only 2 47 - 45. That means that only a 2% Bradley effect would bury Obama. It will be a lot worse than that though for Hussein Obama.

Taking Hard New Look at a Greenspan Legacy
By PETER S. GOODMAN

“Not only have individual financial institutions become less vulnerable to shocks from underlying risk factors, but also the financial system as a whole has become more resilient.” — Alan Greenspan in 2004
George Soros, the prominent financier, avoids using the financial contracts known as derivatives “because we don’t really understand how they work.” Felix G. Rohatyn, the investment banker who saved New York from financial catastrophe in the 1970s, described derivatives as potential “hydrogen bombs.”
And Warren E. Buffett presciently observed five years ago that derivatives were “financial weapons of mass destruction, carrying dangers that, while now latent, are potentially lethal.”

"Over the years, Mr. Greenspan helped enable an ambitious American experiment in letting market forces run free. Now, the nation is confronting the consequences."
see you in the morning. store up those quotes chicago, we'll have some laughs with them on 11/4.
On Faux news tonight they had someone on that discussed the reverse Bradley Affect, particularly in the South. A white person is polled in front of or where another might hear the answers, so that say "no" I'm a Republican and I'm voting for McCain - even though they have no intention of doing so. See - here in the South - there are those who are quite proud of their racism and put it on display and basically dare anyone who does not agree with them. So, even though a great many people are planning on voting for Sen. Obama - they just don't want anyone to find out! This constitutes reverse Bradley.
This was on Fox - seriously. There was even a 'fair and balanced' sign on the screen - Oh wait, I know - they are required to do one fair and balanced segment every week or so and this must have been their one 'fair and balanced' item for the month. Yeah, that must be it!
marymac_memphis on October 9, 2008 at 12:01 AM
Marymac,
I think the majority of the American people saw what I saw in the last debate. That is that John McLame is a testy, angry old man. I will tell you also about what I thought after the FIRST debate. I thought Obama had lost badly. I thought he needed to counter attack directly. I thought he needed to respond directly when McLame claimed "he didn't understand". Then I watched the poll numbers come in. And I saw that a majority of the people believed Obama won. I saw that Obama had won over a lot of the undecided voters. It was then that I realized that Obama is smarter than I am. And he has a calmness about him that will make him a truly great leader. I wanted him to attack back. He understood that he could respond by demonstrating that he was NOT confused, but rather had a deep and thorough understanding of the issues. That demonstrates a quiet confidence in his own abilities. It also demonstrates his confidence in the American people to see the ramblings of an angry old man, behind in the polls, as just that.
Obama will make a GREAT president. McLame doesn't really have a chance in the last debate either.
Hey guys, is something up with the blog, it looks like some kind of DOS thing.

no sense arguing polls sally. so far you have been consistently wrong and now you are trying to say that mcbush is not in deep do-do...very silly... time will tell just who has fell and who's been left behind....soon enough.
Marymac, Gregg, NewsJunkie,
Hey, I have to get some sleep.
Blog y'all tomorrow.
Chicago: I know exactly what you mean. Sen. Obama and for that matter Mrs. Obama have both conducted themselves with a quiet dignity but a firmness of direction. They have managed to find the perfect balance of attack the other side by stressing my virtues that will help lead the people of the U.S.A. out - onto the other side of these total and complete debacles that George Bush and Co have led us into.
It just hit me - this is what we should be saying about each and every single candidate who runs for any office above dog catcher! I wonder if there is some sort of 'standards' exam that people must pass if they intend to enter politics as a career!
Guys, is it just me or is the blog screwed tonight? My Husband changed our security protection and ever since, this blog, when I log on has a list of different topics with no graphics. Anyone else getting this or just me?
My sister called, She said my dad in FL is voting for Obama. She said that he wasn't crazy about him but he sure as hell wasn't voting for McClaine. She said dad, it's McCain, well I'm not voting for McClaine. After two tries to correct him she finally gave up.
My dads best friend is hard core republican, I guess my argument beat out his, yeah!
I just got off the phone with my cousin Willie. Willie is a lifelong Democrat. Willie says he is going to vote for McCain because he has heard that Hussien Obama is a muslim and a communist.
119Sally-* on October 9, 2008 at 04:09 AM
So Sally - is your cousin, probably from WV, is he married to his sister or yours? Guess it's a family thing - inbreeds.
Well one thing is for sure. All of the hate that has been spewing from Rush and Hanniety is finally coming to the surface. The mob mentality of the Republicans lead by Sarah and approved by McCain is bearing the truth. These people do not like America. They spew their hate and then sit on the side lines while the mob who attends a Palin/McCain rally yell their hate.
It's back firing - the majority of the American people are fed up with the Hannietys and the Rush's of our country. The sooner we can shut these people down - the better this country will be.
I think she can also safely claim a right to membership in the Mayflower Society and the DAR eh Pammy?"

I don't think so, Stevie. Neither one of those came over on the Mayflower and bled and died for this country.
That still irks you huh? That your Swedish ancestors were merely thrown into cattle barges with the rest of the insane and criminal element and dumped on our shores? Well, you may not be able to brag about your ancestors, but what a legacy you will be leaving to your kid, right? ooops, I forgot about those criminal charges, and those bankruptcies, and bragging about no child support !And of course no REAL job for 62 years of life. Yard sales and maple syrup. Yipee !!!!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. BLOWBACKwill be bush and cheney's legacy for eternity.
Many of Bush’s critics have voiced the opinion that Bush’s presidency has accomplished nothing and has resulted in only failures. I disagree. Quite frankly, Bush and his Neocon enablers and world wide puppets have reached two milestones previously believed unreachable. The most interesting point of both is that they were reached with little conscious thought.
In the US there is a word that was coined specifically for the 911 and Afghanistan periods: blowback. It means the unintentional consequences that beset those who do various deeds without actually contemplating what may be the results.
The first of these unbelievable Bush accomplishments resulted from his misguided and mismanaged invasion of Iraq.
Never one to take such fame and success without trying harder and proving that more could be done, Bush, his Neocons and a local puppet named Saakashvili set out to again do the impossible. Thus started the suffering of a small people in a small land named South Ossetia.

Uh Oh, McCain. What else do you have left in your file besides Victory in Iraq???? You mean Barack was Right????
New US Intelligence Report Warns "Victory" Not Certain in Iraq
Washington - A nearly completed high-level U.S. intelligence analysis warns that unresolved ethnic and sectarian tensions in Iraq could unleash a new wave of violence, potentially reversing the major security and political gains achieved over the last year.
U.S. officials familiar with the new National Intelligence Estimate said they were unsure when the top-secret report would be completed and whether it would be published before the Nov. 4 presidential election.
More than a half-dozen officials spoke to McClatchy on condition of anonymity because NIE's, the most authoritative analyses produced by the U.S. intelligence community, are restricted to the president, his senior aides and members of Congress except in rare instances when just the key findings are made public.
The new NIE, which reflects the consensus of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, has significant implications for Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, whose differences over the Iraq war are a major issue in the presidential campaign

Evidence of Warming Growing: Pachauri

Barcelona, Spain - Evidence is mounting day by day that mankind is to blame for climate change, and the financial crisis is a temporary setback in the hunt for solutions, the head of the U.N. Climate Panel said on Tuesday.
Rajendra Pachauri, whose panel shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former U.S. vice president Al Gore, said the downturn could dominate for 2-3 months before politicians return to focus on fixing long-term problems like global warming.
"The evidence... is getting stronger by the day. We have much more evidence available of what the human role is in climate change," he told Reuters by phone from India. "One has every reason to take action on what's already been said."
good morning pam and johne. looks like a sunny fall day here.
I'm trying o find that link Johne that you posted last night about McBush's duck noise. If anyone has found it, please post the link this morning - I need a laugh. Actually, I need a hug and a laugh.... found out what's happening with my IRA and 401k - I've lost thousands since August....
DEMOCRATS ! AS YOU ARE OUT AND ABOUT, TELL NO VOTER TO TAKE IT FOR GRANTED THEIR NAMES ARE STILL ON THE ELIGIBLE LISTS!! EVERYONE SHOULD CALL AND CHECK IF THEY HAVE NOT VOTED IN AN ELECTION OR TWO. and Remember, SS cards are NOT required to vote! Make sure the people you are registering have proper ID , this is a FEDERAL election, where ID is required in many places.
Report: Voter purges in 6 states may violate law
NEW YORK - Tens of thousands of eligible voters have been removed from rolls or blocked from registering in at least six swing states, and the voters' exclusion appears to violate federal law, according to a published report.
The New York Times based its findings on reviews of state records and Social Security data.
The Times said voters appear to have been purged by mistake and not because of any intentional violations by election officials or coordinated efforts by any party.
States have been trying to follow the Help America Vote Act of 2002 by removing the names of voters who should no longer be listed. But for every voter added to the rolls in the past two months in some states, election officials have removed two, a review of the records shows.
The newspaper said it identified apparent problems in Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina. It says some states are improperly using Social Security data to verify new voters' registration applications, and others may have broken rules that govern removing voters from the rolls within 90 days of a federal election.
Democrats have been more aggressive at registering new voters this year, according to state election officials, so any closer screening of new applications may affect their party's supporters disproportionately, the Times said.
The result is that on Election Day, voters who have been removed from the rolls could show up and be challenged by political party officials or election workers.
The six states seem to have violated federal law in two ways. Some are removing voters from the rolls within 90 days of a federal election, which is not allowed except when voters die, notify the authorities that they have moved out of state, or have been declared unfit to vote.
And some of the states are improperly using Social Security data to verify registration applications for new voters, the newspaper reported.
"Just as voting machines were the major issue that came out of the 2000 presidential election and provisional ballots were the big issue from 2004, voter registration and these statewide lists will be the top concern this year," said Daniel P. Tokaji, a law professor at Ohio State University.
OH, Remember McCain's surprise plan at the Debate? His very new secret plan he just came out with?? WELL, he has already changed it so it does not help the Homeowners at all! We should have known!
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) made an overnight change in the homeowner bailout he proposed at Tuesday’s presidential debate, making it more generous to financial institutions and more costly for taxpayers.
McCain's staff says it was always meant that way.

i don't put much faith in zog anymore....but as long as sally wants to claim his poll as the one that counts for selling woof tickets i find this mornings write up interesting.
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama has built a 4-point lead over Republican rival John McCain in the race for the White House, aided by growing support from women and independent voters, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Thursday.
Obama led McCain 48 percent to 44 percent among likely U.S. voters in the national poll, up from a 2 percentage-point advantage for Obama on Wednesday. The poll has a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
Obama expanded his advantage among independents to 13 points from 9 and his lead among women grew to 9 points from 7. The Illinois senator moved slightly ahead of McCain among Roman Catholic voters and now leads or is even with McCain in all age groups except those above age 70.
"Obama seems to be doing well among the groups that he really needs like women and independents," pollster John Zogby said. "McCain needs to do much better with them."
McCain, a former Navy fighter pilot and Vietnam prisoner of war who has focused on security issues, was only running even with Obama among families with a member in the military.
"That is not a good sign for McCain," Zogby said..."

Reality intrudes and McCain buckles
FOR MONTHS, political reporters have reported on what they know best, politics. Attack ads, conventions, polls, debates, and gotchas - what George Will calls stagecraft, as opposed to statecraft, the ideas of the candidates. That suddenly changed when reality intruded in the form of an economic crisis.

More Campaign '08 Coverage
Wall Street was a presidential test and McCain flunked. When the Wall Street crisis hit, John McCain looked dazed and confused and, yes, old. His clueless initial response - saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong - cost him credibility at a crucial moment. Wall Street was a test of presidential capability and McCain buckled.
Ineffectual under pressure. McCain pulled a transparent stunt in pretending to suspend his campaign so he could go to Washington and somehow appear relevant.
He was quickly exposed as over his head when he sat for 40 minutes in dead silence during a discussion by congressional leaders at the White House. Then House Republicans turned down the first plan, leaving McCain with little to say or do. A week later, he quietly voted for the pork-laden Senate bill and slipped out of town.
The public saw it first. Unlike McCain, Americans quickly knew things were bad. Nearly everyone owns stock these days, in retirement accounts. As the Dow plunged, Barack Obama jumped into a statistically significant lead nationally and in crucial states.
Presidential stature. Obama conducted himself with cool and calm during the bailout crisis, just as he did in Tuesday's debate. In short, he looks presidential. We haven't had one in so long I forgot what a president looks like.
The reality of unemployment. Obama is forcing McCain to spend TV dollars in expensive toss-up states like Ohio and Pennsylvania. McCain's quitting Michigan was about too few dollars, too few voters - a recent published poll showed Obama leading by 13 points - and too few jobs.
A job is all that matters when you're unemployed. The Labor Department reported 159,000 jobs were lost in September. Since January, we've lost more than 750,000 jobs and are on our way to 1 million by year's end. Right now, we are a nation with 2 million unemployed.
McCain wants to disqualify Obama. A losing campaign has one chance to win when it's running out of time: disqualify the opponent. McCain's plan is to turn Obama into a risky weirdo who's not like us (white people).
Desperate times, desperate hockey mom. Sarah Palin is out attackin' Obama's character using a flimsy connection to the 1960s radical, anti-Vietnam War bomber Bill Ayers - they once served on a nonprofit board together. Sarah calls this "palin' around with terrorists." Obama has denounced Ayers' words and actions, most of which occurred when Obama was 8. Obama used the attack to make his move against McCain.
Ready, aim, post. The Obama campaign armed its supporters (it's got over 2 million volunteers and contributors) with a 13-minute Web video that had been produced for just this occasion. It's the true story of McCain's strong ties to Charles Keating, a convicted real estate swindler. A charter member of the Keating Five during the savings and loan scandal in the late 1980s, McCain improperly and unsuccessfully used his office to call off federal regulators. McCain, then 58, had received $112,000 in Keating-related campaign contributions plus free trips for McCain and his family on Keating's private jet to the tycoon's retreat in the Bahamas.
Careful what you wish for. Can you imagine 10 of these interminable town hall debates as McCain wanted? Tuesday's debate was boring - except McCain calling Obama "that one" probably got the attention of black voters.
CNN's post-debate poll showed 54 percent of those who had watched felt Obama won; 30 percent said McCain. CBS had it 40-26 percent Obama. Those polls understated Obama's command of the evening.
Obama managed to tie McCain's ceaseless charge about the surge to the financial crisis. Obama said we need the $10 billion a month the war costs.
Tom Brokaw played Clock Nazi the whole night, enforcing time limits just when the candidates started to really debate.
McCain quickly left the stage, grasping the reality of his predicament.
from the "Department of Duh":
Oct 9th, 2008 | WASHINGTON — The National Rifle Association is endorsing Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
TWENTY SIX MORE DAYS, DEMS. THAT'S ALL WE NEED TO STAY WHERE WE ARE! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING. GET A LETTER TO EDITOR IN TODAY, SIGN UP LOCALLY FOR PHONE BANKS. JOIN MOVEON'S NATIONWIDE PHONE BANKING INTO SWING STATES. GO DOOR TO DOOR WITH BROCHURES. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN.
"Three weeks of historic economic upheaval has done more than just tilt a handful of once-reliably Republican states in Barack Obama’s direction. Democratic strategists are now optimistic that the ongoing crisis could lead to a landslide Obama victory.
Four large states McCain once seemed well-positioned to win—Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio and Florida—have in recent weeks shifted toward Obama. If Obama were to win those four states—a scenario that would represent a remarkable turn of events—he would likely surpass 350 electoral votes.
Under almost any feasible scenario, McCain cannot win the presidency if he loses any of those four states. And if Obama actually captured all four states, it would almost certainly signal a strong electoral tide that would likely sweep the Southwestern swing states—Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada—not to mention battlegrounds from New Hampshire to Iowa to Missouri.

I am thinking, wouldn't Princess Diana roll over in her grave, thinking that she was someone related to this very unclassy, gun toting, witchcraft loving, loud shrill mouth, lousy mother leaving her Downs child to others to raise and not knowing her daughter was in the back seat of a car fornicating, gutting Moose, giving rewards for Wolves' feet, abusing power to try and punish ex-brother-in-law, etc.? Poor Diana.
I loved how all the TV reporters last night, were reporting how After Palin finished speaking yesterday, people filed out as McCain got up to speak! NOW THAT IS VERY TELLING ! When you cannot even stomach the man at the top of the ticket !!
Gregg.
Of COURSE the NRA is endorsing McCain. they are a bunch of wackos, too, who sure do not want a Democrat in office who might put a control in there, and keep some criminal or nut case from getting a gun!!!
I'm more concerned witht he wakco's attending Sarah and McBush's events. They are getting out of control. They all know that they are on the losing side and they are pissed.
One thing we need to start thinking about. When we finally take control of this country once again and begin the long road of fixing it and returning it to a world power, what is the one item you would like to see corrected?
For me, it would be to bring fairness back to the air waves. I beleive this is very important. The American people deserve to hear both sides of any issue. And I believe it should work both ways.
I will be contacting our new Congressman, Mike Montageno who will defeat Mark Souder, a 15 year, do nothing Congressman, and voicing my hopes that he will lead the way in bringing fairness back.
