McCain Cuts Minnesota Ad Buys In Final Week
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Behind in the polls with a week to go, Republican John McCain is pulling back from the Minnesota television airwaves.
According to an Associated Press examination of Twin Cities ad records, McCain has scaled back his presence by diluting previous ad buys.
At his peak this month, the Arizona senator was spending more than a half-million dollars for a week's worth of ads on Twin Cities television. Until recently, Minnesota was one of the states where he was outspending Democrat Barack Obama on ads.
Good evening, all.
White House to banks: Start lending now
By JENNIFER LOVEN, AP White House Correspondent Jennifer Loven, Ap White House Correspondent –
WASHINGTON – An impatient White House prodded banks and other financial companies Tuesday to quit hoarding billions of dollars flowing into their vaults from Washington and start making more loans. Wall Street soared nearly 900 points on bargain-hunting and hopes of a hefty interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve.
The stock market's amazing climb, with its second-largest point gain ever, was a welcome burst of good news for a nation suffering big job losses and seemingly tumbling into a painful recession.
Consumer pessimism reached record levels in October amid rising unemployment, plunging home prices and shrinking retirement and investment accounts. The Conference Board, a private research group, said consumer confidence fell to its lowest point since it began tracking consumer sentiment in 1967.
Hoping to thaw the credit freeze that has chilled the economy, the Bush administration sent banks an unmistakable message to put aside fears and open up loan windows for cash-starved businesses and consumers who have pulled back on spending.
"What we're trying to do is get banks to do what they are supposed to do, which is support the system that we have in America. And banks exist to lend money," White House press secretary Dana Perino said. While there are limits to Washington's power to affect banks' behavior, the White House decided it was time to use its bully pulpit.
"They (regulators) will be watching very closely, and they're working with the banks," Perino said.
Washington has pumped money and confidence-building measures into the system over recent weeks to get lending, the lifeblood of the credit-dependent American economy, flowing freely again and to combat the worst financial crisis since the 1930s. So far, though, it has not worked...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081028/ap_on_bi_ge/financial_meltdown
Why are the banks still so cautious? Obama really needs to get into the White House and find out what this administration has been doing with te economy...and what it's not been telling Congress if not outright lying to them about.
2BobVADemocratHawk on October 28, 2008 at 06:58 PM Good evening fellow Democrats.
Good evening, Bob. Hope all is well. Off to supper myself.
catch you all next time.
Hi everyone!
Ugly insinuations about Barack Obama’s relationship with a former neighbor and university colleague, Rhashid Khalidi, are completely false.
Barack himself has openly described his relationship with Rashid Khalidi:
"[Khalidi] is not one of my advisors; he's not one of my foreign policy people. His kids went to the Lab school where my kids go as well. He is a respected scholar, although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israel's policy…To pluck out one person who I know and who I've had a conversation with who has very different views than 900 of my friends and then to suggest that somehow that shows that maybe I'm not sufficiently pro-Israel, I think, is a very problematic stand to take…So we gotta be careful about guilt by association."
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/05/obama-on-the-de.html
Barack’s record on Israel is clear: he strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship. He believes that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, America's strongest ally in the Middle East.
If this is the best argument Barack’s attackers can come up with, they really are desperate.
Find out more about Barack Obama and the Columbia University scholar, Rashid Khalidi, then help spread the truth:
http://my.barackobama.com/khalidismear
Together we can make sure the deceitful and divisive smear attacks about Rhashid Khalidi don't affect this election.
Thanks for your help.

sally* will now only have Obama ads to watch? And she thought she could escape purgatory in this life much less the next?
Bob,
Thanks for posting all these alerts. I haven't heard half of them, but I'm sure the Far Right blogs are chain e-mailing everyone. My sister-in-law sent me one about small donations the other day. You have to stay on top of these lies.
If Danny Boy is a Registered Democrat, I am sister Mary Pam, and am driving my convent to the polls next week !
Pam,
I don't think there are that many nuns out there any more. Sad really. Maybe you should be a nursing home director instead and drive your employees to the polls next week?

Evening all good Dems,
I heard on CNN radio news this afternoon that a federal judge ruled that errors made in filling out a voter registration form cannot be used to reject a voter if the error was made by the election official.
The other thing he ruled on was that if a person has had his or her home in foreclosure and they have moved to a shelter, they can still vote by giving the shelter address. He even said that they can register even if they live on a park bench.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Screw the neocons.
Hardly any talk has been about Georgia but 36 percent of the early vote has been from Africian Americans, twice as many as normal.
McNuts is a cooked goose, the fat lady is warming up. Even LiverLips is backing down, trying to get back in good graces, that ain't going to happen either, his ass is cooked.
Good evening Johne, its a pleasure to see you, i agree screw the Neo Cons.

They're trying to rehash this one from May. I imagine next the GOP, or one of their 527's, will try to float a CGI of Sen. Obama being a vampire or Gov. Palin being ministered to by angels. That's about all they have left.
We have two new lawsuits pending in ABQ.
The first is from two hispanic women who were being harassed by a repuke lawyer and his investigator. These repukes were harassing these women in an effort to intimidate their right to vote which is a violation of Federal Law. This creep investigator came to their homes, rang the doorbell and accused them of not being citizens and that he was going to call immigration authorities. The investigator laughed when they said they had just become citizens and had the papers to prove it. The neocon attorney pat rogers of ABQ and his investigator al romero could not be reached for comment. They should be in jail for voter fraud.
The other suit by the ACLU claims that congressman justine Fox young, Repuke NM and others violated privacy rights of voters which coult intimidate people into not voting. fox sent a letter to the FBI and the FBI is investigating 1,500 voters signed up by ACORN. They called the suit an attempt to silence their invesstigation into ACORN
and is an attempt to silence the investigation into ACORN. They were accusing ACLU of being involved in voter fraud and the suit was political. They accused the ACLU of hiring convicted felons. So what's the big deal, mccain accepted funding raised by conviceted felon gordon liddy.
The judge needs to kick neocon ass. How dare these neocons challenge ACORN. They are trying to divert attention from their voter fraud in every state in the union and we should not stand for this abuse by the neocons. ACORN has been around for thirty years.

In other news.
Thom Hartman reported today the mccain's buddy general petraus has asked bush to meet with the Taliban and pay them to stop the violence like bush did the Sunni's in Iraq.
mccain won't like this because it is surrendering to our enemy the taliban.
It turns out that in 2001 (before 9/11) bush paid the Taliban $40 million to curtail the heroin production in Afghanistan. They did a pretty good job.
After 9/11 they offered bush a deal to seize bin laden and turn him over to the U.S. Bush said fuck you.
As a result, bush and cheney have destabilized a very dangerous part of the world and Pakistan is bankrupt. The Taliban could take over the government of Pakistan at any moment and all bets would be off. Pakistan has about 30 "nukular" bombs.
Thanks bush=mccain.
senator boner of tennessee has introduced a bill

Hearing Thursday in lawsuit doubting Obama's birthplace
By Tom Beyerlein and Tim Tresslar
Staff Writers
Tuesday, October 28, 2008
TURTLECREEK TWP — The man who filed a lawsuit in Warren County last week questioning whether Barack Obama is a "natural-born" U.S. citizen owns a company that sells products to help users of illegal drugs pass employers' drug screenings.
David M. Neal, 55, filed the lawsuit Friday, Oct. 24, against Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, national Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern and U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein, who chairs the Senate's rules committee.
The lawsuit is based on a long-standing Internet rumor that Obama's Hawaii birth certificate is a forgery and he was actually born in his father's native country, Kenya. Neal argues that the defendants should require documentation of Obama's minimum qualifications to be president, as spelled out in the Constitution.
In a phone interview Monday, Oct. 27, Neal called Obama's 1961 Hawaii birth certificate "a bogus, forged document." He said his lawsuit is part of an effort by a grassroots group that is legally challenging Obama's eligibility in courts in numerous states.
"To avert likely civil unrest and a constitutional crisis which would certainly accrue after the election through laborious legal challenges and impeachment process, this complaint seeks to resolve such complaints prior to the election," Neal's lawsuit reads. The same language appears in a lawsuit filed by a man in Washington state this month.
Another similar lawsuit, filed by a Philadelphia attorney in August, was dismissed by a federal judge this month.
Several fact-checking organizations say the Hawaii certificate appears to be legitimate, but Neal said the organizations, as well as the media, are biased and preventing the true story from being told.
Obama's Ohio campaign staff declined to comment on the lawsuit, but an Obama Web site posted the Hawaii certificate and said the rumors are "smears" that are "about manipulating people into thinking Barack is not an American citizen."
A spokesman for the Ohio Democratic Party declined to comment, and Brunner's office hasn't seen the lawsuit, a spokesman said.
There is a hearing on the lawsuit set for Thursday, Oct. 30.
In the lawsuit, Neal lists his address as 6117 Hendrickson Road. That's the address of his company, ACS Herbal Tea Co., which sells products that "cleanse blood, urine, saliva or hair within an hour," according to the company's Web site. ACS products include Urine Luck Solution, Magnum Synthetic Urine, Ultra Saliva Detox Kit and, "for heavy users," the Eight Day Complete Detox.
"There is no reason anyone should lose his or her job, or not be hired for a position due to a failed drug test," the Web site proclaims. "We will show you how. Whether it's marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines or opiates, you can rest assured that we can help you pass all drug tests!"
Neal said he has owned the company since the 1990s.
They're trying to rehash this one from May. I imagine next the GOP, or one of their 527's, will try to float a CGI of Sen. Obama being a vampire or Gov. Palin being ministered to by angels. That's about all they have left.

Palin has been really pushing the victim card in the last few days...even brought in the heavy artillary, Elizbeth Hsselbeck, to deliver it.
Seems to me, it's been her own campaign who is slamming her these days not us.
We didn't buy her that wardrobe. We aren't calling her a diva or whacked out...well, I might have called her water breaking story whacked out.
Now the ORP is calling voters who requested an absentee ballot and are telling them their vote won't count if it's been longer than 24 hours.
they will stop at nothing.
The religious freakazoid bates brohther were chastising Obama today as is their everyday diatribe.
Today they were saying that syrian-americans will not vote for Obama because he wants to talk the Syrian president.
They went on to say that lebanese-americans will not vote for Obama because he wants to talk with Hezbolah and egyptian-americans will not vote for Obama because he wants to talk with Hamas.
They were also chastising Obama for being the most militant homosexual lover in the world.
They even reported that authorities found an effigy of palin was found in L.A.
They also reported that Obama is a marxist.
These two assholes must make this shit up. Talk about bizarre. Of course hannity, limpballs, savage, cunningham, et al are spewing the same bullshit.
We need the Fairness Doctrine on steroids. Reinstate it now.
I attended our Democratic Executive Board meeting tonight. We voted to donate $$$ to our local candidates. There were 6 volunteers manning the phones for our Democratic candidates.

Dan, Dan, Dan, frustrated today? Perhaps you're constipated? Perhaps it's just all the rage from your dark Republican soul coming to the surface today. Whatever the case may be, there is no tape, the connection to Rashid Khalidi has been explained as early as last year, and once again, you're caught peddling GOP half-truths and innuendo that do not amount to the time you wasted posting that drivvel.
I understand this is all y'all have left. But you're being a sad, misinformed representative of a once great party much like your candidate, Sen. McCain. Y'all don't have to go out like this.
Debate the issues. Leave the petty name calling alone. I'd like to think y'all are above that. Be a part of the loyal opposition. Because the alternative is the political wilderness and trust me when I tell you that it's awfully cold out there. We Democrats know all too well.

mccain was bragging awhile back that he has never seen a free trade agreement that he didn't like and would sign free trade agreements with anyone who asked. He was bragging that he has already signed onto 137 of them.

Hi everyone!
People who are determined to keep us divided start these rumors about Barack’s birth certificate to manipulate us into thinking he is not an American citizen.
The fact is Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America.
Learn the facts and see the birth certificate for yourself:

Together we can make sure these negative and divisive attacks don't affect this election.
Thanks for your help.
In any other year this would be a huge story:
A Congressman running for re-election, Mike Rogers has a Chief of Staff Christopher Brinson that was reprimanded for ordering torture in Abu Ghraib. His underling, Charles Graner Jr. is now in prison for 10 years for torturing. From salon.com
Brinson supervised Military Police Cpl. Charles Graner Jr., who is often portrayed as the ringleader of abuse. In January 2005, Graner was sentenced to 10 years in a military prison. Brinson first came to public attention in August 2004, with the publication of a memo he sent Graner, telling him he's doing a "fine job".... In the April interview with CID, Graner said Brinson instructed him to follow the orders of military intelligence, even though Graner claims to have complained about the harsh tactics. Graner said he told Brinson, "MI wants us to do this. That's not our job." According to Graner, Brinson replied, "Hey, our mission is to support MI. Do what they tell you to do.
This if it gets attention will make AL-03 even more winnable for our Democratic Red to Blue candidate Josh Segall. Please help promote this story about Rogers' corruption (much much more at my diary) or contribute to help elect Josh Segall. Oh i know McNuts probably bought Joe the Plumber 150,000 dollars worth of plumbing equipment, for the endorsement, now i understand.
CHASSIE,
Early today mccain came out against stevens. He must have threatened palin because yesterday she said very little about him. Late today she came out against stevens.
They are probably afraid that she used the same contractor to build her house free of charge. I understand that there are no records, not even a building permit in wasila.
Very interesting.

The short answer is "No"
McCain (at the end - not at the beginning) chose to make this election about a choice between the GreatGazzoo and Obama.
I don't claim to know the McCain's motives - but if his intent was to put country first - he did a good job.
Olberman just called palin out on a quote she said/wrote about sharing the wealth of the resources of Alaska. He called her a phony.

Coming from someone who trusted George Bush and voted for him twice, I find your sense of judgement to be flawed.
Oh, this is one of those TOP electoral prediction sites. Just wanted to share it:
"John McCain is making no progress in his pursuit of the White House. Our model now projects Barack Obama to win 351 electoral votes to John McCain's 187, and to win the Electoral College 96.7 percent of the time to McCain's 3.3 percent. Both numbers are unchanged from yesterday

This hurts the trolls more than any amount of correcting you do of their lies!
Night again...............
We trust Obama. He was born into and lived in and grew up in the middle class.
McCain was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Married a multi-million heiress after cheating on his wife and children with her for 9 months. Cindy is a husband stealer and John looks out for banks, big oil, and John.
Obama will serve the middle class that he loves and respects. He owes no one anything, except the middle class that sent in 100 dollar increments, their hard earned money to get representation. Even the troops in Iraq are overwhelmingly voting for barack.

"The conflict in Iraq is no longer restricted with its borders. The USA committed an act of aggression against Syria. Spokespeople for the US administration justify their actions with the notorious struggle against terrorism. Washington thus continues to unite Islamic countries against the United States. Following the US-led incursion, Syria decided to expand the list of weapons which the country purchases from Russia. Some experts said that the USA made a mistake with its attack against a civil object in Syria. This point of view withstands no criticism
The US administration has obtained its profit from the events in Syria. The mystical al-Qaida started “working” again, whereas the struggle against terrorism is the last opportunity for the outgoing US president to justify the disastrous Iraqi campaign. Every fight to defeat terrorism can bring additional votes for Bush’s Republican successor John McCain.
In the meantime, Syria has already contacted Moscow with a request to launch the deliveries of military hardware, including up-to-date missile complexes. It is not ruled out that the USA was sounding out Syria’s defensive abilities.

CHASSIE,
What channel will the Obama speech be on? He is so inspiring.
His idea now is to tax the rich and give it, among other things, to Corporations that keep jobs in the U.S. and grow our manufacturing sector which has suffered tremendously since raygun. All these stupid free trade agreements that mccain has pushed (172 of them) have destroyed our manufacturing sector and we are paying the price dearly.
I understand that there are over 400 billionaires in the U.S. and most of them are cheap bastards whose partents never taught them to share. Selfish bastards.
The damn neocon freaks keep saying that he is going to tax the middle class and give it to the poor. What a load of bullshit.

It is a beautiful sight - I thank them and the parents who raised them - and that includes most all of us - rank and file Republicans and Democrats alike.
The numbers in this election will prove that it was a bipartisan effort.
From Franklin Roosevelt's Fireside Chat, May 29, 1940.
And one more point on this: (Also) Our present emergency and a common sense of decency make it imperative that no new group of war millionaires shall come into being in this nation as a result of the struggles abroad. The American people will not relish the idea of any American citizen growing rich and fat in an emergency of blood and slaughter and human suffering.
Much more..................
ADDRESS OF THE PRESIDENT DELIVERED BY RADIO FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
Here is a complete list of Roosevelt's Monthly Fireside Chats. I remember hearing his chats but I was too young to understand. I know they soothed the American people and went a long way in calming us during the trials of the Great Republican Depression of 1929.
I think Romney would like to make it known the cartoon character that palin is now, so he doesn't have to deal with it later.
I read it was the campaign people that came over from the Romney campaign, to the McCain campaign, that are spewing the Diva, Whack Job, labels. I think Whack Job fits best.
I noticed how she made a statement that Stevens should resign if he is re-elected. Uh huh, and who might the governor appoint to replace him? It will be her, Sara Palin, so she can ruffle some feathers, wink, wink.
I hope Stevens takes her down with him after that remark. Romney and Stevens need to get together and do a job on the wack job.
Was Roosevelt talking about the bush crime family. It is well known that bush's grandfather just loved Hitler.
"The American people will not relish the idea of any American citizen growing rich and fat in an emergency of blood and slaughter and human suffering."

palin's husband is apparently a wack job too. What decent American would be a member of the AIP which agitated against the United States. todd could be considered a damn terrorist. Is his middle name hussein?
If todd is deemed a terrorist, does that mean palin pals around with terrorists? That is unacceptable to me. mccain really screwed up when he picked her to be his running mate. He would have had a better chance if he had picked Romney.
Thank goodness he was thinking of his own selfish desires rather than the American people.
Johne, if your still here, I now believe that Rove, Dobson and Perkins used McCain. They are the ones that wanted the fake christian. They promised McCain the base and he took the bait. This whole thing has been to bring her up for 2012 for the wacko right wing evangelicals.
She had taken classes from Newt Gringrich on how to use religion and Rove style smears to get where she is. McCain has been had and I think he knows it now.
Todd Palin would not be able to get a security clearance based on his AIP affiliations.
neither would Todd Palin but obama has security clearance he in the the senate you dumbass
thier is no bradly effect obama will win so go home and scare yourself in the mirror
I am newly registered first time voter, a natural born citizen of the United States of America, of hispanic descent and live Texas. My father is a naturalized citizen who served in our Navy as a young man and has achieved more in this country, our United States of America, than ever possible in any other country. Though I have never been interested in politics before, this election has compelled me for the love of our country, the freedoms we all take for granted too often, and each individual who does all they can to continue towards a "more perfect union". Our country needs us all to educate everyone around each one of us as to our basic voting rights.
That being said, I am terrified, I have been watching news reports, TV and online, and there have been multiple tactics by GOP to keep the student vote down in many swing states: Colorado, Virginia, Wisconsin and probably many more.
There are flyers and rumors circulating amongst students (written in a manner that seems to be coming from other students to make these messages sound more authentic) that if they vote they can A) risk losing their scholarships or B) be arrested for parking tickets. IF they do actually vote, they will be directed to use provisional ballots. There are also flyers being distributed in Virginia and no doubt other states that say that a recent decision was made by the state legislature to hold two polling days due to the extremely high projected turnout. The flyer states for Republicans to vote on Tuesday, November 4th and Democrats to vote on Wednesday, November 5th.
These lies are very very scary. We must all do what we can to reassure students and all voters that these are ALL suppression tactics to try to steal the election from Barack. We cannot allow this to happen!
It is our constitutional right to vote, and all Americans must know this, and know that anyone who is trying to suppress your vote is suspect for fraud. This comes down to the collective hope we all have for our country and therefore we must all work to have Barack Obama in the White House as our next President of the United States.
Share these tactics with everyone you know and let them know what GOP is trying to do.
like i could find pool that obama wining you pick one that macain is wiinig to post on here not one he loseing your one on sided
did you right this sally The flyer states for Republicans to vote on Tuesday, November 4th and Democrats to vote on Wednesday, November 5th.

Go to barackobama.com and copy your post and paste it there.
Also, CNN has a hotline number to report voter problems. I'd google that and see if you can get it some attention there.
Both George Bush and John McCain have stated that a dictatorship would be eaiser.
For the, supposed, leader of the free world to say such a thing is unpatriotic and un-American.
Republicans are communists.
More crapola from the "Gasbag Putz Dick"?
Nice cherry picking of ONE sentence, moron.
...Obama is now at 49% of the vote to 47% for McCain among likely voters using Gallup's traditional model, and at 51% to 44% using Gallup's expanded model...
I thought being duped by a C & P of a SATIRE last night would train your tiny "brain" to FACT CHECK everything a (never)right winger posts.
I guess not.
Red State is claiming that McLame will pull off a blowout in CA and will win the whole enchilada.
You wingnuts should really seek help.
Palin is a Fraud, Fake, Liar, Hypocrite, Ignorant, Incurious, Socialist, Vile, Whack Job.
JAUNC ON OCTOBER 29, 2008 AT 12:51 AM
I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you represent the entire state of AZ.
Clearly I'm some sort of crazy person. If you want to speak for the whole state, you should post your factual basis for your statement on your polling web site. Hum....
That's like me saying because I live in Missoula Mt, I can clearly call montana for Obama. Or saying because I can see a foreign country from a place in this state that I've never been to, that I have foreign policy experience..
Ha, troll.
Thank God, most of the American People can see right through Palin. Most of these are women. They know a faker when they see one.
More people see palin as unfavorable than favorable. Just wait to Muthee comes out and the Masters Commission, the AIP "good luck" wish Palin made to their annual AIP meeting on tape. The house she built with Ted Stevens builders and the same builders that built the disaster Ice Rink that is still in court cause the moron Palin didn't make sure the city owned title to the land. I could go on and on.
You trolls learn a lot here don't ya! You can't get this from Hannity and O'liely or the Radio.
...Fraud, Fake, Liar, Hypocrite, Ignorant, Incurious, Socialist, Vile, Whack Job... hooker, meth addict, pole dancer, son humping, adulteress, boyfriend banging "hockey mom"...
(Is Levi the mom schtupper?)
Where are HER medical records, AND Todd's AND Brad's, AND Levi's, AND the kid's?
DNA tests would be nice to clear up this little soap opera.
She's a glorified coke whore.
Wow! Great piece of news!
Way to copy and paste another blog! Brilliant. The American Spectator? HA HA HA..... fair and balanced , just like fox.
I hope that palin becomes the face of the GOP. That would be brilliant. Do you actually think she could get through the other Repugnants like Huckebee and Romney? They'll eat her alive. She's got too much against her (besides being as bright as a burnt out light bulb). AIP, Stevens, all of Wasilla. She's doomed.
Stevie,
You posted another right wing bloggers work on here. You didn't link you information. It was foolish information at best. Insulting me for pointing out your foolishness just confirms it.
I don't need to point out how stupid you are when you follow up with stuff like Palin being president in four years.
Since you like copying blogs, here is the one from DPD from earlier today. You may recall how it refutes you gallup poll.
"Nice cherry picking of ONE sentence, moron.
...Obama is now at 49% of the vote to 47% for McCain among likely voters using Gallup's traditional model, and at 51% to 44% using Gallup's expanded model...
Gallup

As for your stupid Bradley effect, don't you realize you're the only person who thinks it is still an issue. As for it being a 10 point issue, you're fooling yourself. Why don't you post some electoral numbers instead? Then you could just say that Obama's numbers are really McCain's numbers. That's about as factual as your usual foolishness.
Troll
Well in that case, I choose to look at Pew Research polls which have
Obama up by 15 points. You should look at all their other polls as well, really informative.
The Bradley Effect - Selective Memory
By V. Lance Tarrance, Jr.
"The other reason I reject the Bradley Effect in 2008 is because there was not a Bradley Effect in the 1982 California Governor's race, either. Even though Tom Bradley had been slightly ahead in the polls in 1982, due to sampling error, it was statistically too close to call. For example, the daily Tarrance and Associates tracking polls for the Deukmejian campaign showed the following weekly summations (N=1000 each) during the month of October:
Week of:
Oct.7th Oct. 14th Oct. 21st Oct. 28 Nov. 1
Bradley 49 45 46 45 45
Deukmejian 37 41 41 42 44
It is obvious that this election was closing fast. Yet, Bradley's win was projected by the most prominent public pollster in the state, Mervin Field, who boasted on Election Day that Tom Bradley would defeat George Deukmejian, "making the Los Angeles mayor the first elected black governor in American history" (UPI 11-3-82). The reason for Field's enthusiasm was that his last weekend polling showed a 7-point margin for Bradley, but this was totally at variance from the Tarrance and Associates internal tracking results. Field's own exit polls, on Election Day itself, where voters were questioned after they left the polling places, also predicted a Bradley win. This caused the San Fransisco Chronicle, ignoring the closeness of the election and mixed polling results, to print 170,000 copies of its early morning Wednesday edition under the headline "Bradley Win Projected."
Also at variance with the Mervin Field exit polls were the NBC and the CBS networks, using both exit polls and actual returns from key precincts, when they declared George Deukmejian the winner and not Tom Bradley the winner. In an AP report, a KNBC newscaster told viewers on Election Night "...half of the polls are wrong and I don't know who's right." The only thing we know for sure is the election was too close to call, and some of the Election Day projections were right and others (notably Mervin Fields' projections) were wrong and, unfortunately, most of this explanation because of selective memory has not been carried forward to this day."
And of course, here is the link

SALLY-* ON OCTOBER 29, 2008 AT 04:41 AM
No, read, the "bradley effect" is a sampling error that got spun out of control by a guy who didn't want to admit that his polling was wrong.
SALLY-* ON OCTOBER 29, 2008 AT 04:48 AM
Fine, I spotted you six points (more than you think you will get) on real clear politics electoral map. I gave any state that Obama wasn't winning by six or more points to McCain. The outcome .........
drum roll please ...........
Obama - 306
McCain - 232
So, still a loser. Oh well.
Hey that was fun. Make your own electoral map. It's kinda cool.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=1
It gets confusing because I have to give four of McCains points to Nader and Barr, so.
I'm not even going to argue about that. Palin and McCain can be president in the world in your head if you want. But in the real world, where the bradley effect isn't real, we welcome President Obama.
Republicans are communists.

I have a four letter word for the repukes, asshole and lying fascist pig.
The American people will not tolerate another year with the mememememememe generation in charge.
That it!
Who in their right wing mind really believes that Palin has a chance in 2012? All she can get is the vote of the rabid extreme right...not even CLOSE to the numbers she needs to win the White House.
As for Sally who keeps referring to her as ''the lovely and talented'' Sarah...well, that's fine if she's running for Miss Wasilla again...but not for VP or pres.
Elections should be open only to male landowners. That is the way the founders set it up and they were correct.
114Sally-* on October 29, 2008 at 12:38 AM
but Sally, dear, that means YOU would not be able to vote. Public records show you own Zero. Nada. Had to put anything you did own in someone else's name, because of all your bankruptcies. So heaven sakes, ole gal, do not wish to this!
Weekly Reader Poll Has Predicted 12 of Last 13 Elections and This Year Obama Wins in Electoral Landslide
Obama will be on CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision, BET, MSNBC and TV One. In addition he is going to do interviews and appearing at rallies with Bill Clinton.
WooHoo. Go get 'em Obama. Kick ass and take names.
Obama takes his case to country with infomercial
Too Bad for Sally...lots of minority males own land too.
Regardless of what happens in this election, Sarah will be the President in 4 years.
136Sally-* on October 29, 2008 at 03:37 AM
"Regardless" of what happens????????
We are now hedging our bet???
We have one from: "So it shall be: McCain 60%, Obama 40%, to "regardless of what happens"!!!
ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Stevie, Stevie, there is crow all your your face. You should really wipe it off! Just go away like a person who has been proven they are full of it , and we shall pretend you never happened!!!!
Morning Pam and MAMMALISCIOUS,
Who in their right wing mind really believes that Palin has a chance in 2012?
mammalicious on October 29, 2008 at 07:54 AM
Did you see them last night. They are dressed like hicks. They are trying to dress like their rabid, red-neck supporters. Her husband looks like a real loser. Of course he is a loser being a member of the anti-american AIP. Talk about un-american.
I heard on Progressive Radio yesterday that the consignment shop in alaska that palin referred to is using the name of a chain of consignment shops in the lower 49. This chain has a copyright on the name and has sent them a "cease and desist" letter.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
a poem sent to me by a good friend, and old blogger, LisaZ:
Rosa sat so that
Martin could walk
Martin walked so that
Obama could run
Obama ran so that
Our children could fly
I believe Palin will face further humiliation, when she makes her interest in running in 2012, and everyone in the Republican Party laughs and laughs!
ps, speaking of laughing. Morning Courant has an article on how a LOT of Military will be voting for Obama this time, and went into a lot of their stories. One guy was in Iraq at the time, covered in blood and dust from the place he was in being bombed around him, and they heard the news that Bush had just landed on that ship with the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED sign. He said they laughed and laughed and laughed !! He said that is when he and his buddies decided that Bush and Republicans knew jack shit about war and what was going on!
Hey Pam !! I missed you guys, this blog has not worked for me in ages.
Off to work. Keep up the good fight fellow Democrats.
DECENCY WILL PREVAIL. WE WILL PREVAIL.
Wait...so is Sally saying that if McCain wins...Palin would run AGAINST him in 4 years??
How do you run against the administration you've been a part of, exactly??
Good morning Johne, Peaceman, and Pam!
Obama was in PA yesterday...out in the rain delivering his message. McCain couldn't handle a drizzle and canceled his outdoor event. Can't handle drizzle?? What...with all those clothes, they didn't buy RAINGEAR??
I guess handling the weather is another test that McCain fails.
Has anyone ever asked McCain to clarify exactly WHAT he's been tested on and what tests he's actually PASSED??
He failed in VietNam...spilling military information to better his lot.
He failed his marriage vows to a loyal and disfigured wife.
He failed the economy by placing Keating & co. before constituents in the past, cost the country billions....and failed in the CURRENT crisis by twisting in the wind.
He failed in his first presidential level decision, by picking Palin.
He failed in controlling his own campaign and it's message.
Republicans are again trying to supress the vote in key states.
In VA...fliers are going around stating that an ''emergency meeting'' was called and because of large turnout expected, democrats are to vote on Nov. 5th, to allieviate crowding. VA college students are also being told that they will lose their tuition if they vote in the town they attend school in (not true).
Students in PA are being told that police will be at polls with computers to check license plates of voters and arrest those with outstanding tickets.
hi Peaceman!!! you have to log in several times sometimes, it is screwed up!
hope you are well and working to get obama in!
John McCain might have made dozens of mistakes in this campaign, but picking Sarah Palin was not one of them. If you don't like it, just go to a Palin rally and tell that to the people -- they'll tell you where to go from there.

Yeah, I always enjoy looking to see who the morons look like. They all have dear in the headlight looks on their faces. Quite the group you've got going there. LMAO!
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/28/man-charged-wounding-teen-caught-stealing-mccain-sign/
So...the McCaniacs not only cling to their guns...they shoot them at kids pulling innocent pranks around Halloween. Warning shots are not aimed at people. Taking a campaign sign warrants getting shot?? Too bad the guy will now be a felon....and will lose the right to vote. Impulsive...reactionary...McCain supporter.
my niece in VA went with a group of co-workers to see a Palin rally. It was kind of like when you drive by an accident and can't keep your eyes off it. They said half of the attendees were like themselves, just looking, plus a large group of Obama supporters who just jeered.
What balls to try and compare 100,000 showing up for Obama, with Palin and her group of wild eyed, Religious fanatics! You ever look at those people they have behind her ? Whew!
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/his-choice_ad/
Great ad...never saw it before.
As for Palinites...they look like cult followers. Like the folks in the crowd on those religious album commercials.
A concerned citizen questioning what Obama is hiding with his lack of proof of being a naturalized citizen in accordance to the constitution. This is one among numerous shady dealings your candidate has under him that are being tossed to the side instead of aired to the public to decide for themselves...are you all blind...socialism, spread the wealth?????? He scares the living hell out of me and should you too...doesn't take an Einstein to figure him out, he is very transparent...dig deeper...
