"That One T-Shirts" on sale already!
Another McLame campaign stunt blows up in his face.
Morning,
Bible Spice is the funniest thing I've heard all election. Thanks DPD for finding it.
Read this quote, then enjou reading who said it.
"For decades, we have piled deficit upon deficit, mortgaging our future and our children's future for the temporary convenience of the present. To continue this long trend is to guarantee tremendous social, cultural, political, and economic upheavals.
You and I, as individuals, can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same limitation?"
- Ronald Reagan, Inaugural Address 1981
I think quoting Ronald Reagan, a hero to the Republicans who advocate buying up home loans and writing off principal (a $??? billion dollar new proposal I think I heard last night), war spending, bailout and continuing the current policies, provides a strong basis for argument about their plans.
That said, Democrats should be careful too. We need to understand that just figuring out how to pay for our current spending plan is not enough. Servicing and reducing our national debt is a huge task. If left unchecked, it undermines our economy, our national strength, our position in the world and our ability to deal with events in the future. Every time we add $700 billion dollars to the economy from rescues or other plans, we add to the risk of inflation. That will result in higher costs, therefore more people who can afford necessities, then more people and companies in need of government assistance, and finally the need for another rescue. Reducing our debt is the same as paying off a personal credit card. Without it, we are always at the mercy of our creditors. As a nation, we don't want to start taking collection calls, right?
Let's make fiscally responsible policies something that the public attributes to the Democrats. It's about time that we showed the world that we understand better than anyone how to protect the future of our people and our fighting men and women, and not just with guns.
Will the debates bring up the like real important issue of voting machines and no hard copy voting records for recounts and official records?
OTW, later
The Republicans in Florida control all the voting mechanisms here. Yet they are upset that the Democrats are sending lawyers to be there for the election. So they are sending their own lawyers to watch the Democratic lawyers. LOL
Note the use of the word "prowl" by the reporter.
blog seems to have learned a new trick. Now I can't open the comments except through preview

And my sign in went through partybuilder. Tinkering has got to stop.
A"s soon as the heat comes on, the openness and transparency goes away," said Anchorage Daily News editorial page editor Matt Zencey.
At a campaign rally, Palin described her state's online checkbook and said she would "bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability" to Washington. But the U.S. government already has a more in-depth public accounting system, a result of legislation sponsored by Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and co-sponsored by McCain, Palin's running mate.

Good morning, all.

I agree wholeheartedly. Post post.
Bail out the real estate market? Why not socialize retail at the same time? why not bail out people with too much credit card debt? Don't forget the people with teenagers, and the chronically obese, and people who can't make good life choices in general?

One thing I didn't realize until I read parts of the Bailout bill is that it has an earmark for trolls like Sally. In it was tucked the Mental Health Parity Bill which will allow them to get the treatment they dearly need. Who knew? :)

Sadly, I don't think any amount of therapy will help them.
a little blast from the past...isn't it wonderful how the world works and how the chickens come home to roost. :)

"hey folks...Garisson Keiller recently attributed our nation's descent toward totalitarianism to the attitude of some that "We've got ours, and who cares?" He's exactly right. But why can't people understand that everyone's connected? Just as life both affects and is affected by its surroundings, so too, do people both affect and are affected by their society. Capitalists and the 'free market' economy have functioned to seperate and divide society for the purpose of maximising competition and profits. In the end, economic constructs such as the so called 'law of supply and demand' will prove woefully inadequate compared to the biological reality of "adaptive reciprocity ". We are, afterall, not only our brother's keeper, but he is also ours."

What happened at President Elect Obama's Rally 15 minutes ago where the crowd turned on a protester and Pres Elect Obama defended everyone's right to their opinion?
Doo-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo on October 8, 2008 at 10:55 AM
Hi, DPD.
We need Barack Obama in the White House...in this time and this place in history. America needs him. The world needs him. He's the only one with a level head left running for president who could effectively lead the Free World during the next worrisome four years.
Obama can work with reasonable people of all backgrounds and political/religious persuasions. Just his presence could calm the economic waters around the world enough so we can again begin tackling the problems that must be solved.
I'm just saying...let's think first before getting too euphoric about our chances. Remember who we are dealing with on the other side. Rove and the wealthy Swiftboaters think they have a divine right to do anything they want to win...and they are getting really desperate.
You have to know I love your enthusiasm and sense of humor. You're pissed and pumped just like me.
When McCain slapped Obama in the face yesterday...the rich selfish bastard...I wanted to slap him back. But let's be smart this election. Let's show McCain and every other Republican that they can't ever do that to any Democrat ever again.
Let's beat them decisively. Let's work to get those 60 Senatorial seats. Let's make this a landslide. But we can't get too confident yet. We have to continue working to make it happen.
We can do this.
You know as much as anyone. Here is the live on site blog from the Indy Star political reporter.
But why can't people understand that everyone's connected? Just as life both affects and is affected by its surroundings, so too, do people both affect and are affected by their society.

Boilerman,
If the evangelicals actually listened to liberals more often they might realize we are all coming from pretty much the same place. I'm hoping that there are enough younger people in this country who are trying to do just that.
Danny, Old man, take your ACORN and stick it up your fat ass !!! You are the type that the Republicans LOVE. The little blind sheeple who just drinks their koolaid and believes everything out of Limbaugh's mouth!
Barack Obama Never Organized with ACORN
Discredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.
In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. (For more about Barack’s career, check out our Obama bio.)
Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Barack and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.
Blackwell’s attacks against ACORN and community organizers continue a vile Republican pattern of mockery and viciousness against this noble profession. Community organizers are the very individuals Republicans should be celebrating for helping people to help themselves rather than depending on the government.
BARACK WAS PRAISED FOR COMPLETING PROJECT VOTE; ACORN WAS NOT INVOLVED

Read it and weep, you old fool!

HERE DANNY, SUCK ON THIS AWHILE, INSTEAD OF THE SOUR GRAPES !!!

Pam - if the ELECTORAL VOTES hold - it'll be a frickn' blow out!
For me - I would love to see this because then I can tell the troll who comes in here to KISS MY ASS!!!!!!
Obama = 341
McCain = 164
Obama was never a member of the Weathermen.
Obama never funded the Weathermen.
Obama was 8-years-old when the Weathermen were active in the 1970's.
Obama is an American Senator not a domestic terrorist.
Obama loves this country.
Obama will protect this country.
Obama will go wherever he has to to get Bin Lauden.
There is a new AFTERNOON OPEN THREAD.
Why didn't they press both candidates on the subject of abortion, guns and immigration? What about Berg vs Obama? These are important subjects to ALL Americans, even the Clinton Dems.
Have a real debate and hit all the issues including abortion, guns and immigration. How about Berg vs Obama? These are real issues that ALL Americans are interested in, even the Clinton Dems.
