McSame/Palin are in trouble. They must know it. They are playing to their BASE. If your playing to your base at this point in the election, your in BIG trouble. Now is when a candidate should be trying to pick up the undecided voter. The independents in the middle. In the past, some of these smear tactics have worked, but generally they have been based with NEW news, not old lies that have been debunked. All but the lunitic fringe (aka the base of the republican party) see these as what they are. A lame attempt by a party in panic mode.
Good morning, all.
Good morning, all.
Who cares if Reagan's buddy Attenberg appointed Ayers to a foundation back in 1993 a full 27 years after the Vietnam War protests? Why would anybody condemn him for trying to deal with an education problem that was necessary to face at that time. Nor should anybody be blaming those who agreed to serve on that board...Democrat or Republican.
But it’s all about connecting the dots and following the maze to the lowest on the Republican food chain.
The real problem here is the connection to the Vietnam War. This is still personally perceived by the Far Right lunatic fringe as a failure just like the Civil War. When our nation is conquering or enslaving others, it makes them feel emasculated...even their women. War gives them a lift they feel incapable of achieving in their own lives.
Heaven forbid that they have to examine their own personal happiness too closely. It’s so much easier to blame others for the failure of big lofty ideals than to start acting like a caring, sharing human being. They would rather fantasize that they are alpha males in a pack of rabid dogs instead.
There is something very dark and disturbing that this is their way of showing adoration of the Creator who had much bigger hopes for them. It’s not about the glory of God with them. It’s about the inadequacies of Man that they can’t accept.
Obama reminds them that they haven't lived up to their own expectations but others can.
wonder WHY they are so against ACORN?? (that means YOU Danny old man)
• In 2007-2008 ACORN has already helped register over 1.27 million people nationwide.
• The majority of ACORN registrants are low-income, about 75% are African-American, 25% are Latino and 50% are under 30 years old.
(Now if these were potential McCain voters, do you think Danny boy would give a damn?? Not hardly)
About Allegations Against Acorn
• In a few cases ACORN has caught part-time workers falsifying cards in an attempt to get paid for doing work they didn’t do. When this happens, ACORN fires the workers involved, alerts election officials and law enforcement about the problem, and cooperates fully and enthusiastically with investigations and persecutions.
• Such cases constitute employee fraud, not election fraud.
• Nearly all of the former ACORN workers who have ever been investigated or convicted were uncovered and turned-in by ACORN itself.
Hi all - I've been following this blog for a while but haven't posted until now - mostly because I couldn't get it to work!
I supported Hillary in the primaries but by the time the primaries were over Obama had won me over. I am excited by his policies, and his overalll calming demeanor which I really think this country needs now.
And, I'm particularly excited by the prospect of electing someone who "doesn't look the guys on the dollar bills" - someone who could put forward a much more positive image to the world stage. Lord knows we need it after the last 4 years...
Obama reminds them that they haven't lived up to their own expectations but others can.

Good morning Sandy.
You are so right.
hootdad on October 10, 2008 at 10:26 AM
Good morning Hootdad. Welcome to the blog.
Does anyone know what time the troopergate report is due out?
Chimpy is "talking" right now. I think I'll go to the DJIA site and watch the line plummet, like it always does every time he opens his booze funnel.
At a campaign stop in Mason, Ohio, Palin said she wasn't nervous about the report.
"We have nothing to hide, absolutely nothing to hide," she said.
REALLY Sarah,
Then how come Todd refused to testify until forced to do so. How come you refused to cooperate? How come you hired a Texas law firm and sued to stop the investigation?
Nothing to hide?
Now I want to see the report more than ever.
Good morning DPD and Pam,
Good to see you both this morning.
MattOrtega on October 10, 2008 at 10:12 AM
I am using version 7.
Hi, Chicao.
Bush is talking about High Anxiety today.
He's only now beginning to realize that most of the bottom 98% has always lived with some degree of it? It's been because he and the GOP have tried so hard to destroy our safety nets and an equal opportunity to better our lot that we are where we are today.
It's not just a breakdown in the markets. It's a breakdown in a failed ideology that has been proven not to work. America is at it's best when it reinvests in itself not global profits.
This current crisis is about the Republicans not putting Country First for the past 40 years. They turned their backs on creating jobs for American workers and it's destroyed the very foundation of our capitalist system.
There is a crisis in confidence in America by everyone in the world but especially by the Reagan Democrats. Either they choose to return to the fold of the Democratic Party or they will continue to be left in the cold by the GOP.
If they vote for a Congressional Majority and Obama, confidence in the future will return. If they elect McCain, they seal the fate of this country forever as a banana republic. They hold the fate of this Republic in their hands...and hopefully they won't fail to act like patriots.
We Democrats have done our job by nominating a young new leader who accepts responsibility and has the determination to pull us along with him when he says, "Yes, we can" fix what is broken.
Gotta run. later.
RE: This ACORN thing...
I find it interesting that Democrats are always trying to get MORE people to vote while Republicans try to SUPRESS votes.
Chicago,
AP reported yesterday that she exonerated herself. Sounds like bush.
Then I heard on the radio that the Alaskan Supreme Court said screw her and will be issuing a report Friday.
This morning the AP is reporting that palin tried to stop the release of the report. I wonder why?
These sleazes are hopeless criminals just like all republicans.
It's sort of strang watching the Chimp trying to be a leader. Everything that man has touched has turned to crap. Funny that Laura still is with him - but then she has a brian the size of a thunble.
Yesterday at work, a gal came up to me and she all nervous about her money and everything. We got to talking and she said you know, it's everybodies fault - both the Democrats and the republicans. I smiled and then almost expoded. I said whoa wait just a cotton pickn' minute. You could not be more dead wrong on anything! I then went into a rant about how the repulicans have bought this mess since they have been in charge for all these years and even when Clinton was in the WH, he went along with some of their crap just to have peace. But the real damage was done by this president and his croonies.
Don't let people tell you any different - stand up and tell it like it is. This mess all belongs to the Republicans ... case closed.
Stocks just dropped again right after the Chimp talked..wish he'd keep his frickn' trap shut - the jerk. God is it over yet - how many more days do we have of this creepy president???
neo_con on October 10, 2008 at 10:30 AM
I don't recall the people saying that to Marie
Antoinette. But then she couldn't bring down a moose...only stand by and watch her economic ministers destroy the middle class.
The comparison is there for those willing to face it.
Johne on October 10, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Johne,
And then she has the audacity to say yesterday that she has nothing to hide.
Palin is a liar. They can smear lipstick all over that pig and have her strut around in heels on any stage they want. It don't change the nature of the beast.
wish there were spell check - sorry for all of the spelling mistakes....ish!
The sleaze from the north is hiding something. Why else would she try to suppress the report?
Then we have that sleaze married to mcgeezer who is accusing Obama of being a liar. WTF. She should shut her ugly mouth and stand silently beside her pedodphile husband while he lies his way through this campaign.
Why do repukes always lie and steal then blame Democrats of the same thing they are blatantly guilty of? These people ARE pissants.
Chicago, I think the new blog does have spell check. A red line appears under misspelled words. If one corrects the spelling, the red line vanishes. It is a great feature. I need a grammar checker to keep me straight.
I can see the dawn!
Bush approves tranistion planning. It's almost over.
The ONLY thing this idiot has ever done that I approve.
And hello to you, Chicago. I saw that the moron troll thought you were me last night. Me?? A SOX fan? I don't think so.
The republican "deregulation" campaign is at the root of this crisis. The people know it. All the attempts by the republicans to confuse that appear to be failing.
Don't let people tell you any different - stand up and tell it like it is. This mess all belongs to the Republicans ... case closed.
Screwum on October 10, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Kathy,
That's right. Don't be afraid to say you are a Democrat and proud of our ability to always solve difficult problems.
We allowed Atwater and Rove to paint us as some kind of irresponsible radicals for the past 40 years instead of demanding respect for our good ideas.
We are The Answer to this crisis in confidence.
The Republicans are panicked and their leaders, Bush and McCain, are either wandering around aimlessly or inciting violence as their strategy to fix this economic mess.
Neither one of them are fit to serve. Neither is Palin.

So you are an elitist who believes the middle class is here to serve the top 2% just like that French wench...and Palin?
Who would have guessed?
I just heard that Paris Hilton is running ads for president on the internet. Well you know... if this trooper-gate report turns out bad for Sarah, McCain might want to replace her with Paris. Paris looks good in heels and I bet she could read off of a teleprompter...
Sandy, neocon is no elitist. Far from it. A redneck who went to Germany in the service. Met the first gal who would give him a piece of tail. Married her, situated there the last 40 years in Neutrabling with a couple adopted kids, and thinks he has some right to tell us how to run OUR country! He is a joke. The old lady must be out on her job, standing outside the US military base with a $2 sign, that is how he comes to be on our blog at 7:20PM his time.
Wasilla, Alaska, City of Character. A "faith-based" city.
.."Thanks to Palin's efforts, Wasilla is now among roughly 200 cities nationwide (and others in 27 countries around the world) that have committed themselves -- in name, at least -- to following the teachings of the International Association of Character Cities (IACC), an organization that purports to be secular but is modeled on the evangelical teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP).
...."Palin's personal connection to IACC, and her efforts to bring its agenda to Wasilla as mayor, sheds new light on her connections to the Christian far right, as well as her willingness to infuse government with its ideals rooted in religion"
More at the link.
Still have to post something to see what was posted? Hmmmm...
Listen to this, Dems.
I went to Town Hall this morning to do my Absentee ballot, because I will be working the polls at a different precinct than I vote in.
I know the gal in the office, and she was raving how busy they have been, with Voter Regisration this time! She said she has processed hundreds of them. I said to her, well we just have to hope they all come out and vote, and she said " Believe me, these people registering this time around, have every intention of voting. You should hear them rave about this country. And as far as I can tell, they all plan on voting for Obama"
So I left there with a smile on my face. Not that I was worried about my state, (they are not sheeple), I think this is the mentality all over the country, and all over the world with those who can still vote in our elections. You noticed on that post I posted earlier, Obama has caught up with McCain with MILITARY! That is HUGE !!!
ONE TO KEEP, DEMS ! THE REPUGS HATE ACORN, BECAUSE OF THEIR SUCESS!
"As The Nation pointed out recently, ACORN's success in registering millions of low-income and minority voters has made it "something of a right-wing bogeyman." Though ACORN believes that the right to vote is not, and should never be, a partisan issue, attacks from groups threatened by our historic success continue to come, motivated by partisan politics and often perpetuated by the media without full investigation of the facts. As a result, there have been a few recent stories about investigations of former ACORN workers for turning in incomplete, erroneous, or fraudulent voter registration applications. Predictably, partisan forces have tried to use these isolated incidents to incite fear of the "bogeyman" of "widespread voter fraud." But we want to take this opportunity to set the record straight and tell you a few facts to show how these incidents really exemplify everything that ACORN is doing right:
Fact: ACORN has implemented the most sophisticated quality-control system in the voter engagement field, but in almost every state we are required to turn in ALL completed applications, even the ones we know to be problematic.
Fact: ACORN flags incomplete, problem, or suspicious cards when we turn them in, but these warnings are often ignored by election officials. Often these same officials then come back weeks or months later and accuse us of deliberately turning in phony cards.
Fact: Our canvassers are paid by the hour, not by the card, so there is NO incentive for them to falsify cards. ACORN has a zero-tolerance policy for deliberately falsifying registrations, and in the relatively rare cases where our internal quality controls have identified this happening we have fired the workers involved and turned them in to election officials and law-enforcement.
Fact: No charges have ever been brought against ACORN itself. Convictions against individual former ACORN workers have been accomplished with our full cooperation, using the evidence obtained through our quality control and verification processes.
Fact: Voter fraud by individuals is extremely rare, and incredibly difficult. There has never been a single proven case of anyone, anywhere, casting an illegal vote as a result of a phony voter registration. Even if someone wanted to influence the election this way, it would not work.
Fact: Most election officials have recognized ACORN's good work and praised our quality control systems. Even in the cities where election officials have complained about ACORN, the applications in question represent less than 1% of the thousands and thousands of registrations ACORN has collected.
Fact: Our accusers not only fail to provide any evidence, they fail to suggest a motive: there is virtually no chance anyone would be able to vote fraudulently, so there is no reason to deliberately submit phony registrations. ACORN is committed to ensuring that the greatest possible numbers of people are registered and allowed to vote, so there is also NO incentive to "disrupt the system" with phony cards.
Fact: Similar accusations were made, and attacks launched, against ACORN and other voter registration organizations in 2004 and 2006. These attacks were not only groundless, they have since been exposed as part of the U.S. Attorney-gate scandal and revealed to be part of a systematic partisan agenda of voter suppression.
These are the facts, and the truth is that a relatively small group of political operatives are trying to orchestrate hysteria about "voter fraud" and manufacture public outrage that they can use to further suppress the votes of millions of low-income and minority Americans.
These tactics are nothing new, and history has shown that they will come to nothing. We'll continue to weather the storm, as we've done for years, and we'll continue to share the truth about our work and express pride about our accomplishments. Most importantly, we want to assure you that this good work continues, unabated and undeterred. ACORN will not be intimidated, we will not be provoked, and in this important moment in history we will not allow anyone to distract us from these vital efforts to empower our constituencies and our communities to speak for themselves. If the partisan political machines are afraid of low-income and minority voters, they're going to have to do a lot better than coming after ACORN.
After all, there are now at least 1.3 million more of them, and they will not be silenced. They're taking an interest, and taking a stand, and they'll be taking their concerns to the voting booth in November.
And ACORN will be here, to make sure that the voices of these Americans are heard, on Election Day and for every day to come.
I was going to order one of those Palin masks from Amazon, but do not want to scare the kids too nuch!
Fact: ACORN is a criminal organization
Fact: Obama has been and is a supporter of ACORN.
Fact: Obama gave them $800.000. to continue criminal acts.
Fact: Pammy , you are an Idiot.
Democrat Official Joins Pro-Obama Voter Fraud
By Sher Zieve (10/10/08)
A federal judge has found Democrat and pro-Obama Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner guilty of violating Ohio election laws. ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) voter fraud is running rampant in Ohio and Brunner has tried to stop any and all investigations into said fraud. Note: ACORN has previously confessed to Ohio’s Cuyahoga County Board of Elections that they know they are committing fraud and blamed the election board for not catching them!
Even as ACORN is, currently, being actively investigated in between 10-15 states (the numbers seem to increase every day), Brunner has been instrumental in attempting to block any checking of ACORN’s bogus registrations. And there are increasingly persistent rumors that Democrat leadership is affecting anything and everything—including rigging the presidential elections nationwide—in order that their candidate Barack Obama is elected. This latest Brunner corruption would tend to prove the rumors correct or, at the very least, lend a great deal of additional credibility to them. Congressional Democrats have even submitted (and continue to submit) multiple bills—at least one of which was passed—to fund ACORN with millions of dollars. Note: This is the same ACORN that strong arms banks to provide mortgages to low-income borrowers. How do they mold their strong arm tactics? They protest outside of the targeted banks, in their lobbies, protest at the homes of bank officials and have even broken into their private offices. Remember that Obama was ACORN’s original “trainer.”
Brunner joins the ever-growing list of Democrat officials who are ignoring the law and attempting to intimidate voters into voting for Obama. That list includes—but is not limited to—Democrat St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch and Democrat St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce who were caught on video saying they were part of the Obama “Truth Squad” and would prosecute anyone telling what they and the Obama campaign considered to be lies about their candidate. Pennsylvania Democrats Governor Ed Rendell, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and former Democrat Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack have joined in forming additional ‘chapters’ of the Obama Truth Squads.
Dire Note: Said “truth squads” are eerily reminiscent of at least two other tyrannical leaders who plied their trades in both Germany and Russia.

FACT: mcgeezer and the wicked bitch from the north
are ASSHOLES.
FACT: All neocons are ASSHOLES.
There are those who prefer to not participate in our democracy yet prefer to spread lies about those who are trying to keep this country a participatory democracy.
They want it to be a crime to make mistakes, and to invite as many people as possible to exercise their inalienable right to vote!
Anyone who does not live in this country, is not a voter should have a large cup of "Shut the EFF up!!!" You are a citizen in name only, and not a true participant in our democracy!
It would be interesting to know what organizations in Germany that this fascist wannabee belongs to. I do have some suspicions.

Fox News isn't the Media. You need to do your own research. But I know you won't, you'll just pull the R lever regardless what it does to your country.
Never thought the GOP sheep would become so obedient that they would elect a senile old man who never accomplished anything in his life and an ignorant, unqualified woman who believes in the literal interpretation of the bible and supports a radical group that advocates for the dissolution of the United States.
BTW, new open thread
NEO CON IS A DORK
McCain is dropping like a bomb in the polls. Even Republican insiders are now saying that Obama is going to win. I think that says it all!
You have to wonder why continue. Sarah Dumbass gets up there and acts like nothing is happening in the polls. They have got to know that they are tanking like the Stock market... (still down -415.13).
And Pam - I've heard here too in Indiana that absentee ballots are up by a huge number. That's a great sign for Obama! But they should be. They have had grass roots runners on the ground here for over a year. In fact, in our county we had 2 Obama offices - they finally closed one down and now we have one big one! McCain - I don't think he even has an office within 100 miles from me....
Now if the Wicked Witch of the North was Innocent, wouldn't you think they would be ANXIOUS to prove it???? hmmmmmm, me thinks she is guilty as hell!
Supreme Court Won't Block Troopergate Inquiry
Thursday 09 October 2008

by: Sean Cockerham, Anchorage Daily News
Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg during a news conference in Anchorage, Alaska. The Alaska Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Alaska Republican state legislators to stop the investigation into Governor Sarah Palin's dismissal of the state's public safety commissioner. (Photo: Al Grillo / AP)
The Alaska Supreme Court today rejected an attempt by a group of six Republican legislators to shut down the Legislature's investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin.
The ruling means that Steve Branchflower, the investigator hired by the Legislative Council, will release his report as scheduled on Friday. Branchflower is looking into Palin's dismissal of her public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, and whether she improperly pressured him to fire a state trooper divorced from her sister.
If palin has nothing to hide then she should welcome the investigation.
She reminds me of cheney and the USAtorneygate. She would no doubt gleefully disregard the Hatch Act and appoint more liberty university? We still haven't prosecuted cheney and bush for this crime.
In January we will have a field day indicting bush, cheney, rove, myers, palin, gonezales, mukasi? rumsfeld, and the 32 lock-step neocons in from the senate. We may have to build a new jail although we do have Guantanamo or the Germans may let us use Manheim Prison.
The Borgen Project has some good info on the cost of addressing global poverty.
$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.
$540 billion: Annual U.S. Defense Budget
bush is a f**king monetary terrorist and should be sent to Guantanamo.
mccain aided and abetted the deregulation of our markets. mccain is a terrorist.
palin plotted with the AIP to secede from the Union. palin is a terrorist.
cheney planned Georgia's attack on North Osetia. cheney is a terrorist.
Let's see, did I forget anyone?
rice is a terrorist. She traveled around the world threatening other nations.
rumsfeld is a terrorist. He planned the attack on Iraq and killed thousands of Iraqis.
hannity and limpbaugh are radio terrorist spewing hate and lies every damn day.
How dare all these animals accuse Obama of being a terrorist.
Tokyo Rose and Axis Sally were hanged for terrorizing our soldiers.
I just went to get the mail and tuned into hannity to see what lies he was spewing today. He is non-stop blaming Obama for everything the weathermen did when Obama was eight years old.
He has the rabid right-wing extremists all stirred up and incited to riot by his bullshit. These animals are describing in detail the explosions and damage done by the weathermen.
ayers was obviously not part of the activity because he was never indicted.
hannity needs to be removed from the radio. He is inciting people to harm Obama and I for one will no longer tolerate his lies and hate.
If anything happens to Obama, hannity needs to be tried for inciting to riot and being an accomplish to whatever happens to Obama
He then needs to spend the rest of his miserable hate filled life in solitary confinement in silence with no human contact. hannity is unfit to be a civilized human being.
Fox News should be permanently removed from television. Pull their license and pull the radio license of any radio station that plays his bullshit5.
