Dorothy Peterson has announced her support for Senator Barack Obama.
“I believe Senator Obama is the best prepared to lead this country at a time when we are in desperate need of strong leadership on everything from women’s rights to the war in Iraq. I am extremely worried that with the wrong choice this fall, Roe v Wade could be overturned and our government could take away a woman’s right to make what is a very personal decision about when and how to raise a family. I also share his concerns for our environment and endorse his support of efforts to find alternative sources of energy. Finally, we need a President who will be able to work well with others both at home and abroad to restore respect for our nation. Senator Obama and I are both convinced that it is time to end this war and bring our brave young men and women home.”
Her husband Walter Peterson served as honorary chairman of John McCain's campaign during the New Hampshire Primary, but is also chair of Republicans for Lynch, a group endorsing Democratic Governor John Lynch.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY OBAMA CHANGED HIS NAME FROM BARRY SOETORO.
LEADERSHIP STYLE. That´s what counts for me - and that is why I am voting for Senator Obama.
It's real simple, Smowman. He was a kid. His mother married a guy named Soetoro. She registered her son as "Soetoro" at the overseas elementary school they wanted him to attend where the family was living at the time (she may have been hoping her new husband would adopt the little boy). Barack Obama did not, in fact, change his name. The Barry part ought to be pretty gosh darn obvious, even for a Right-Winger. Sorry the answer is so pedestrian and, um, not terribly menacing. Also, stop yelling at us IN CAPS! SO ANNOYING! Ok?
I wanted to let the Obama Camp know that I am supporting Barrack 100% plus. I am a "Prominent Democrat" in KY. I have asked some of my other "Prominent Democrat" partners, where they stand in the presidential race. Time after time, they have told me that they will not vote for a "Black Man". I was in total shock, the only come back for me, was that he was "Malado". It is so sad that Racism still plays a role in today's politics.
Darrell
Darrell (Owens by chance?), I am in Kentucky also and I too had my own barber tell me that he wouldn't vote for a Black man. It's almost like the "crabs in a bucket" mentality. If someone tries to make it up, another "brother" tries and pulls him down. Racism is indeed alive and well on both sides of the track. GO BHO!
Snowman, I have looked into Indonesian law. It is required that the wives and children (even those who are not legally adopted) of Indonesian men use the name of the father for administrative purposes. There was no legal name change.
This serves a dual purpose - for tax exemptions for the father, and for other administrative purposes, such as registration in public schools.
In order to legally change his name, he would have had to go through the formalities as an adult. Even in Indonesian law, there is no possibility of a formal name change (what is known in common law as a "deed poll") of a minor child.
I am registered Independent but have always believed that the democratic party was the lesser of the two evils. Having said that, I fehemently supported Brack Obama and ANY democrat running in this years ellections. I have always contended that the evil that is the republican agenda will ultimately be the downfall of this once great nation. And so it is that we are on the brink of economic disaster, at a record low as far as our credibility and honorable image on th eglobal stage...and it is all the result of the sheer, outright outrageous greed of the republicans during their 12 year seige of the government and this country.
It all began with the angry white men and their "contract on America" and we proceeded towards a downward spiral from there.
Sarah Palin today suggested to the RGA that they are charged with keeping president-elect Obama and teh democratic congress honest.....can you believe the unmitigated audacity....for 8 years the republicans had free reign to do the damage that they've done, like the swine that they are, fed at the trough unchallenged and now have the audacity to suggest that the ills that they've created are somehow the fault of the newly elected congress....
I submit that the citizens of this country should never allow the republicans another opportunity to stand at the helm unchecked, EVER AGAIN!
YET still! The democrats MUST deliver on the hope that they've promised and not become the monsterous swine that their predecssors were....they must deliver on the edict of the Constitution and the premise of the just cause this nation supposedly founded upon, a nation of th epeople, for the people, by the people....and not just the rich 1%......

What is so great about the outcome of the election is that Barack beat out all of the odds that were against him throughout the campaign. This election helped to reiterate to me that you can win and reach your goals despite how many odds are stacked up against you. And it could not have come at a better time for me. Thank you Barack Obama. America Already Owes You In A Big Way, whether they realize it or not. This election also shows that if God wants something done, there is no man stronger enough to prevent it. I said from the start of Barack's campaign that I felt his win of the presidency would be God's will and I stand by my comment. Thank You God!
Just remember. God is for unity. Satan is for division. God is for peace. Satan is for war.God is for love. Satan is for hate. God created every living creature therefore He really does not want to see anyone living in pain and suffering. I continue to pray that Barack Obama and his entire presidential family recieves the highest form of heavenly protectin God has to offer. Amen! A se luma le cum. Peace to Barack Obama!
Congratulation Senator Obama. I am delighted with your election !! I have been waiting for this moment for so long. Evil will soon be out.... your grace, intelligence, wisdom, and courage is so appreciated. I wish you the best, to you and your team. Europe loves you !!
I can not vote.
I am too young. I'm fourteen. I admit I don't pay as much attention as I perhaps should to politics and national issues, but I know enough to know what I think is right-- and what I think is wrong.
I would have, with out a doubt, voted for Obama, had I the chance. Not because he's black [[pardon the word, please]], although that is part of it, but because he is a great leader and someone I personally think is worthy of trust.
He will, hopefully, help change the United States for the better.
I know that he himself did nto grow up poor, but that his wife did. And that makes me think that perhaps he can relate to the part of our country that is poverty stricken.
It's a comfort to know that, at least, he has a theory of how horrid is is, living the way some people are living. That he knows what needs to be fixed so that families can eat and have a roof over their heads.
I seriously admire Obama with all of my soul; I think he is a great gift to our country.
