Democrats Take Alaska Senate Seat
Ted Stevens has conceded the race in Alaska.
Begich’s win was called by The Associated Press on Tuesday night and hands Democrats a 58th seat, with two GOP-held seats still outstanding. A large portion of absentee ballots delayed the result.
Stevens’s campaign said in a statement: “Given the number of ballots that remain to be counted, it is apparent the election has been decided and Mayor Begich has been elected.
Meet Senator-elect Mark Begich.

President-Elect Obama to Tackle Economy ''Head On''
President-elect Barack Obama delivered his first press conference since Tuesday night's presidential election, and took the opportunity to address the ailing economy, vowing to "confront this economic crisis head on."
Washington Post reports:
"Immediately after I become president, I'm going to confront this economic crisis head on by taking all necessary steps to ease the credit crisis, help hardworking families and restore growth and prosperity," Obama said in Chicago. [...]
Obama spoke after he and Vice President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. met in Chicago with a team of 17 economic advisers who are helping to plan the transition to an Obama administration. The advisers, including current and former government officials, business executives and university professors, convened amid more dismal news on the state of the U.S. economy.

''Delighted''
John McCain worked hard to earn the endorsement of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. He sided with them 90 percent of the time, did "everything" he could to get them elected and then re-elected, and shares the same disastrous philosophy of governance that promises four more years of the same failures.

Dick Cheney ''Delighted'' to Endorse John McCain
The status quo stands up for ... more of the same, as Dick Cheney is "delighted" to endorse John McCain so that he can continue his disastrous policies.
Senator Barack Obama asks, "Do you think Dick Cheney is delighted to support John McCain because he thinks John McCain's going to bring change? Do you think John McCain and Dick Cheney have been talking about how to shake things up, and get rid of the lobbyists and the old boys club in Washington?"
Watch Senator Obama's response to Dick Cheney's endorsement of John McCain:
''We Have A Lot of Work To Do''
Power doesn't concede. The status quo does not simply give up. Change doesn't come without a fight. Get involved.
