I have some real problems with Obama's ideas for innovating education. The continuing of NCLB, even though funded....is just not good. I am not fond of the charter school idea either. That is opening the door to business. Open the door a crack, and they might make it wider. Our country grew on public schools.
And the constant testing needs to go. I don't think Obama will do that.
Children have different learning styles, one test does not cover all.
public education is the foundation on which a democratic society builds.
and so bush seems to be accelerating his attempts to destroy our country and at the same time be the biggest buffoon on the world stage. just the information revealed today about his s.e.c., to which he appointed this fucking idiot cox when he was unhappy with donaldson who was doing a credible job, is unbelievable...the war, katrina, etc. were mind bending but the degree to which this clown bush moved the economy into the current collapse is breath taking.
In honor of President-Elect Obama calling the IL Gov situation "frustrating" today, here's my post from yesterday when I pointed out the same thing, only much less Presidential:
So Jesse Jackson Jr was an FBI informant on Blago for years? Why didn't they indict Blago before? After all this time, you would think that an indictment is easy, and he wouldn't need a criminal complaint... that earned a $4,500 bond?
It's being reported that Fitz told Obama NOT to comment on the "criminal complaint." However, the MSM is running around saying Obama has answering to do. That's real fair... make someone stay silent while the MSM questions his character and ethics. I don't like it one bit. Tie someone's hand while they are being attacked in the WORLD media? I don't think that's justice or ethical.
Fitz needs to come out in a HUGE press conference and say President-Elect Obama and Rep Jackson are in NO way a target of this investigation, and are likely victims of Blago's shinanigans.
After a week of the MSM making Blago and all Illinoisans out to be crooked, several "legal experts" are on tv saying Blago might not have done anything illegal, and wonder why Fitz didn't wait until an illegal deal was actually made. GW Law Professor Johnathan Turley said, "talking like a total idiot is not a crime, and being recorded saying totally foolish things is not a crime. Otherwise, all the Republican trolls would be in jail next to the Unibomber Ted Kazinski."
Picture Muhammad beside Suicide Martyrs
So if they suicide martyrs are dying for Muhammad, the prophet then picture both together with the people who were killed in His name. So if these martyrs are dying and leaving there reason to die for Muhammad then let picture the two on the same piece of paper with all those killed in His name. Will I do not support this in an action against other troops, the killing of innocents must stop.
While this may not be done in Iraq and some other countries the rest of the world should use this example until Moslems extremists quit using innocent civilians as target practice.
Strange I look at Jesus pictures and get inspiration.
I don't know about this Ray LaHood character. I mean if he was a good guy, he would be a Democrat. I wonder if LaHood was an advocate for Amtrak, hi-speed rail, and mass transit? He seems to be rather old to have a progressive transportation policy. If nothing else, Dems can pick up another House seat. I trust they know what they are doing.
at the wall street urinal we find a nice summary of that idiot cox's tenure at the s.e.c. i guess if gerald ford played too much football without a helmet as johnson claimed it is likely that cox spent too much time using his head as a wheel chock for a peterbuilt truck parked on a steep hill...
"...Mr. Cox, a former Republican congressman from California, arrived in August 2005. His consensus approach smoothed hostilities left by the tenure of predecessor William Donaldson, but it also effectively gave more control to then-Commissioner Paul Atkins, a Republican who publicly railed against the enforcement division for being too aggressive against companies. Mr. Cox sought to approve all rules by unanimous decisions, so if Mr. Atkins didn't go along, Mr. Cox would shelve the issue.
Mr. Cox began a pilot program that required enforcement attorneys to seek permission from the commission before negotiating penalties against corporations. Previously the staff would negotiate a settlement and bring it to the commission for approval. The pilot program had the effect of slowing cases, SEC enforcement attorneys say. The SEC maintains it has aggressively pursued enforcement cases and extracted record fines from companies.
The SEC chief was criticized for attending a birthday party and being absent from meetings during the weekend when Bear Stearns Cos. was on the verge of collapse and was sold to J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Mr. Cox said he was involved in the decisions involving Bear Stearns. Since the summer, Mr. Cox has taken a more active stance through emergency measures to limit bearish bets on financial institutions and calling for oversight of derivatives and a merger of the SEC with the CFTC.
The SEC has taken a public pounding from its inspector general, who found the SEC missed many red flags in its oversight of Bear Stearns..."
Morning Gregg
Glad to see you back in action. First your computer, then power outage.

Climate Change: Chasm Widens Between Science and Policy

Despite dire warnings from scientists and environmentalists, many regions remain unwilling to adopt necessary changes and standards to encourage a healthier climate. (Photo: greenpeace.org) (These are the Corporate controlled areas, plus guys like our trolls who are dumber than dirt)
Quebec City, Canada - The roof of our house is on fire while the leaders of our family sit comfortably in the living room below preoccupied with "political realities" - that was essentially the message from 1,000 scientists from around the world along with northern indigenous leaders gathered in Quebec City for the International Arctic Change conference that concluded last weekend.
"Climate change and its impacts are accelerating at unexpected rates with global consequences," delegates warned in a statement.
Presenting data from hundreds of studies and research projects detailing the Arctic region's rapid meltdown and cascading ecological impacts, participants urged governments to take "immediate measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions".
Yet Tenet assisted them all in the BIG LIE !
Drunk George Tenet lashed out at Bush’s neocons:
‘The Jews’ who tried to ‘pin the Iraq WMD fiasco on him.'
By Think Progress
December 16, 2008 "Think Progress" -- -Atlantic reporter Jeffrey Goldberg recently picked up a copy of Patrick Tyler’s forthcoming book, A World of Trouble, which focuses on “America’s tortured relations with the Middle East.” Goldberg says that the book’s prologue contains a “whopper of a scene” featuring former CIA director George Tenet “drunk on scotch, flailing about Prince Bandar’s Riyadh pool, screaming about the Bush Administration officials who were just then trying to pin the Iraq WMD fiasco on him.” Tyler reports that Tenet also “mocked the neoconservatives in the Bush administration” as “the Jews“:
According to one witness, he mocked the neoconservatives in the Bush administration and their alignment with the right wing of Israel’s political establishment, referring to them with exasperation as, “the Jews.”

Bush-Era Abortion Rules Face Possible Reversal
»
by: Laura Meckler, The Wall Street Journal
The regulation is one of a swath of abortion and other reproductive-health issues under review by the Obama team, which is preparing to reverse a variety of Bush measures, according to officials close to the transition. The review is part of a sweeping scrutiny of Bush-era legislation and regulation on issues across the federal government, from environmental and labor rules to defense spending.
On abortion and related matters, action is expected early on executive, regulatory, budgetary and legislative fronts.
Decisions that the new administration will weigh include: whether to cut funding for sexual abstinence programs; whether to increase funding for comprehensive sex education programs that include discussion of birth control; whether to allow federal health plans to pay for abortions; and whether to overturn regulations such as one that makes fetuses eligible for health-care coverage under the Children's Health Insurance Program.

Morning Pam and gregg,
You guys certainly had a bad storm. I hope everything is still standing. Those ice storms are a bummer.
My email has been down for four days. My wife's email worked just fine and we are on the same server. It took Hughes three days to figure out what was wrong then they downloaded 4,600 messages dating back to September. I had already seen them all. Their system needs some work. It took all lsst evening download them.
Be sure to check the furniture when it arrives and make them note any damaages. We had curved glass broken on two antique showcases and wood damage on one antique high chair. They don't or won't see it. Then when you try to make a claim they deny it.
The stupidity of the trolls will peak before peak oil.
The religious freak, economic expert, political expert bates father and son were complaining about Obama's choice for Secretary of Education.
"Why he wanted separate schools for "Queers" in Chicago." "He will spread the contagion nationwide."
Can you believe these aholes? They profess to be experts on everything like limpbaugh. They are experts on energy, politics, global warming, religion, education and everything else you can imagine. I wonder how large of an audience they attract. They are no doubt the worst pair of pseudo religious hypocrites next to hannity and parschall.
Last spring Hughes messed up my wife's email too and it froze up. We had to go in to their system and delete 11,500 messages. The killer was that they only allowed deletion of 10 messages at a time. It took me all damn night.
Johne,
My daughter plans on taking the day off when they call they are arriving, and check out everything. she also has a lot of antiques and fragiles coming. She collects old glass, and I packed a bunch of it myself last Spring when I was there, so am shivering in my boots if it will arrive ok.
