DNC Youth Council Congratulates Governor Tim Kaine and Urges Continued Investment in Youth Vote Programs
The DNC Youth Council, the party’s official youth coalition, congratulates Virginia Governor Tim Kaine on his selection as the new Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
"As Governor of Virginia, Tim Kaine has taken the lead on issues critical to our nation’s youth such as expanding access to higher education, keeping schools and universities safe for students and preserving a healthy environment. His enthusiasm and dedication to the advancement of the Democratic Party make him a natural choice to help continue the success of the 2008 election cycle. The youth vote movement has experienced tremendous growth over the last four years and we look forward to working with Governor Kaine and Executive Director Jennifer O'Malley Dillon to further increase investments and opportunities for young people inside the Democratic Party,” said Jane Fleming Kleeb and Jason Rae, Youth Council Co-Chairs, Amber Goodwin, Youth Council Secretary, and A’shanti Gholar, Youth Council Director.
"The Youth Council would also like to take this opportunity to give our thanks to outgoing DNC Chair, Governor Howard Dean, who displayed a tremendous interest in developing programs targeted at young people through his innovative 50 State Strategy. We look forward to Governor Dean’s continued involvement and leadership in the party."
