President Obama Endorses Scott Murphy in Upcoming NY-20 Special Election
Next Tuesday, voters in New York's 20th Congressional District will head to the polls for a special election to fill the seat left vacant when Representative Kirsten Gillibrand was appointed to fill Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Senate seat. Yesterday, President Obama officially endorsed Scott Murphy in the election, and he asked his supporters in New York to do what they can to help:
I'm writing to you now because you have the opportunity to make a big impact on my efforts to bring about a lasting economic recovery.Today I'm announcing my support for Scott Murphy, candidate for New York's 20th Congressional District.
On Tuesday, March 31st -- just one week away -- voters will have the chance to send Scott to Congress, where we'll work together to get our economy moving in the right direction.
Volunteer this week and help in the final push to send Scott Murphy to Congress.
Scott has the kind of experience and background we desperately need right now in Washington.
He's created jobs by building and growing small businesses while bringing people together to address difficult challenges. He supports the economic recovery plan we've put in place, and I know we can count on him as an ally for change.
To restore our economy and build a foundation for lasting prosperity, I'll need Scott's help. This week, Scott needs yours.
Sign up and pitch in to elect Scott Murphy to Congress.
What you do now can make all the difference as we work in the coming weeks and months to lead our country in a new direction.
Thank you,
President Barack Obama

President Obama is live on TV addressing the country on economic and budgetary issues. What do you think about his remarks?
Republicans to attack Obama for having too many plans
So the GOP, well known for being the party of "No", is now going to go after President Obama for having too many ideas;
Okay, this is interesting. The chief spokesperson for GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell just said in an interview that leading Republicans are going to ratchet up their criticism of the Obama administration for releasing too many big plans on the economy — with too little sense of how they mesh with or impact each other.
and here is our response;
“I guess when you have no new ideas, anything more than zero must seem overwhelming. But, if the Republican party thinks that attacking new ideas is a winning answer, they’re more out of touch than we all thought. Now is a time when we could use all the good ideas we can get — and we invite the Republican party to offer some new ones rather than playing the same old Washington games. They can start by putting out their own budget proposal.”

President Obama met with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus
from Whitehouse.gov;
The President had a robust and strategic meeting with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus today on the topic of immigration. The meeting lasted approximately one hour. The President discussed how the administration will work with the CHC to address immigration concerns in both the short and long term. During the meeting, the President announced that he will travel to Mexico next month to meet with President Calderon to discuss the deep and comprehensive US-Mexico relationship, including how the United States and Mexico can work together to support Mexico’s fight against drug-related violence and work toward effective, comprehensive immigration reform. Since their meeting in January, the President has repeatedly praised President Calderon for his extraordinary work to solve these challenges, which are important to communities and families on both sides of the border.

Dear Science welcome back to the White House;
That is why today, I am also signing a Presidential Memorandum directing the head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to develop a strategy for restoring scientific integrity to government decision making. To ensure that in this new Administration, we base our public policies on the soundest science; that we appoint scientific advisors based on their credentials and experience, not their politics or ideology; and that we are open and honest with the American people about the science behind our decisions. That is how we will harness the power of science to achieve our goals – to preserve our environment and protect our national security; to create the jobs of the future, and live longer, healthier lives.
