As PRIDE Month Begins, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine Celebrates the Contributions of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Americans

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine yesterday issued the following statement marking June as PRIDE Month:

“Today, on behalf of Democrats across our nation, the Democratic National Committee pays recognition to PRIDE month – a time to join together in celebrating the contributions that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans and their families make to our society. We also take this time to reaffirm our commitment to being a Party of inclusion and one that stands firm in promoting equality for every American.

"As Democrats and Americans, we believe we all are created equal and we have fought against discrimination based on race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, language, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, and attempts to divide us instead of unite us.

“The cause of ending discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans has taken a giant leap forward. With a Democrat in the White House who is committed to equality and justice, we have reached significant milestones. The Obama Administration is the first to appoint openly LGBT candidates to Senate-confirmed positions in its first 100 days and it has partnered with the international community at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world.

“The Administration is concentrating on a number of measures to ensure equality for all—such as supporting civil unions, Federal rights for LGBT couples, stronger hate crimes laws, ridding our military of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ in a way that both ensures national security and strengthens our Armed forces, banning discrimination in the work place, fighting HIV/AIDS and ensuring adoption rights.

“We as a Party and as a people have come a long way, and we should be proud of what we have accomplished thus far in promoting equal rights for all Americans. But we still have much more to do. As we move ahead with a Democratic Congress and President committed to equality for all Americans, we look forward to a nation where discrimination of any kind is a thing of the past.”

Revive the ERA. It would be the fastest and most permanent way to address this inequality for good.

So now we're censoring posts too.

This administration will demonize the gays more than the Clinton did

Do something! Your Justice Deptartment just filed a brief in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act, which is an act that denies gay people the recognition on a federal level of my marriage, inspite of the fact that my marriage is legal in the state I live. The language used in this defense was dispicable, even comparing our unions to incest. Why not take a cue from a real Democrat, Jerry Brown, Attorney Genral of California. His job was to defend the anti marriage equality Prop. 8, but he instead, refused to do that, because justice is more important than anything. Until the Democrats do something, my husband and I husband will not do anything for you. Until President Obama keeps his promise to be a "fervent" supporter of our equal rights, I will not vote for ANY Democrat, not Chuck Schmumer, not Kristen Gilbrand, not Jerry Nadler and not him. From our unique perspective, that of someone who is a disenfranchised voter, not having my civil rights or equal rights, the Democrats are just as much against me as the Republicans, and the radical fringe evangelicals. Don't you people understand? I want my rights, I want the people I gave my money and votes to, to speak up, to man up, to do something. By the way, Obama's health insurance package is baloney if my marriage isn't recognized by the federal government. You're cut off until I get my equal rights, and an apology from President Obama for the disgusting defense of DOMA. "Injustice to anyone is an injustice to all," said Coretta Scott King, a real and inclusive civil rights advocate, not someone like Obama who has turned tail and run.

Tim Kaine can shove his "civil unions" up his pompous elitist married hetero arse. I'm already married, but I had to frickng move to Connecticut to do it and have at least state level equality.

I'm done with the Democrats. I bought into the everything but marriage promises. But now I know they really nothing but what you queers can pick off in New England.

Go screw yourselves - I'm voting Republican just to get these elitist pukes the hell out of office. And, yes I will vote Republican. Why not, I get shit either way.

"Fierce Advocate" is more like wimpy pissant. Inviting that homo-bigot Warren and then cutting off blacking out Gene Robinson. Obama has only siad the word gay once since taking office and it was only to get us to open up our wallets again.

Well screw that - cut off any more donations and VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!!
