Minnesota Supreme Court declares Franken Winner

In a 5-0 decision the Minnesota State Supreme Court has just declared Al Franken the winner of the state's Senate race. The ruling goes further and declares that he is entitled to a certificate of election as a Senator from Minnesota;
"For all of the foregoing reasons, we affirm the decision of the trial court that Al Franken received the highest number of votes legally cast and is entitled under Minn. Stat. § 204C.40 (2008) to receive the certificate of election as United States Senator from the State of Minnesota."
Via the Star Tribune;
"Al Franken received the highest number of votes legally cast and is entitled [under Minnesota law] to receive the certificate of election as United States Senator from the State of Minnesota," the court wrote.
In upholding a lower court ruling in April, the justices said Coleman had "not shown that the trial court's findings of fact are clearly erroneous or that the court committed an error of law or abused its discretion."
UPDATE (Cloe): Former Senator Norm Coleman concedes.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports:
"Republican Norm Coleman ended his bruising eight-month court fight over Minnesota's U.S. Senate seat this afternoon, conceding to Democrat Al Franken after the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled in Franken's favor.
"Two hours after the decision was released, Coleman said he would 'abide by the results.
"'Further litigation damages the unity of our state," he said during a news conference held at his St. Paul home. "The future today is that we have a new United States senator."
UPDATE 2: President Obama remarks;
"I look forward to working with Senator-Elect Franken to build a new foundation for growth and prosperity by lowering health care costs and investing in the kind of clean energy jobs and industries that will help America lead in the 21st century.”

Congratulatins, Senator Franken.
Let's see is Pawlenty wants to risk his presidential aspiration any further by not signing the certificate. Let's see if Coleman wants to risk looking stupid by taking this to the Supreme Court. Let's see if Chief Justice Roberts wants to risk harming the credibility for the Supreme Court any further by butting in.
Conservatives don't quit if there is any way to cheat that hasn't been explored.
Congratulations to Senator Franken (D-MN). Good luck to you from the Commonwealth of VA. And Senator, if anybody gives you any crap, go see Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA). He knows how to handle mealy-mouthed Republicans.
Of course, if this was about a bunch of rich, white kids accused of raping a black hooker, it'd be a story, maybe even national headlines.....but wait:
A Duke University official has been charged in federal court with offering his 5-year-old adopted son up for sex. Frank Lombard, associate director of the Center for Health Policy, was arrested Wednesday in Raleigh, the FBI said.
An unidentified informant who already faces child porn charges in a different child sex case pointed investigators to Lombard, according to court documents. The informant told investigators he had met Lombard on the Internet four years ago. The informant described in graphic detail how he allegedly observed Lombard molesting an African-American child on four occasions over an Internet video chat service called ICUii.
The informant said, according to court papers, that Lombard, who is white, said that he lived in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina and that the child was one of two adopted African-Americans in his custody.
Lombard has been charged with attempting to induce someone to cross state lines to engage in sex with a child, punishable by a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
I've seen this disturbing news reported on the radically Leftist HuffPo and I've linked to the ABCNews website here, but let's see if MSNBC, the NYTimes, CNN, CBS and WaPo go after this story, and if so, with near the same amount of intensity as they all did the faux Duke Lacrosse Rape a few years back.
REAL NICE.... How come no one sees this in the news? God forbid a crime that could damage gay rights.... this is disgusting.... sick.. unbelievable, we are hearing about michael jackson and obama but somehow none of this gets released.... hmm?
For something that should have been obvious from the start it took long enough. Just adding fuel to the rights contention that government can't run anything. What happened to the initiative to reinstate the uptick rule? It didn't take long to eliminate it. Probably kidnapped by the same special interests that eliminated it in the first place. Can we get motivated?
Glad to have him. Franken will be good for America.
