In his weekly address the President talks about how the Recovery Act is providing a boost to make our economy stronger. The Recovery Act has provided help to struggling states with the deficits they face, extended unemployment insurance and health insurance to those who have lost their jobs, and lead to new infrastructure jobs across the country. Through many reform initiatives the President talks about a new foundation we are building to bring our country out of this recession.
As one of the many people who transcended party lines to vote for America instead of some outdated dogmatic mantra,I am impressed by President Obama's commitment to remain true to his campaign promises. The Recovery Act is working but will take time before some of us will feel the effect. I recently lost a job I held for twenty one years when my company decided it was cost effective to close our facility. That scene has repeated itself over and over again in my state and, by most predictions, will get a lot worse before it gets better. I'm sure my state is not unique;others are having the same or similar problems. This is leaving a gaping hole for "Spoilers" to crawl through. They have nothing to offer but criticism but people just trying to survive don't always analyze the message if they are given a focal point and can vent. President Obama's weekly address is not enough. You Democrats, local, state, and national, must go on an offensive reminding the people that this recession was inherited, that there aren't any instant cures and directly refute all of these "coulda, shoulda, wouldas" coming your way. Most of the arguments are the same ineffective remedies that got us into the difficulties we are having now.If you let them continue without a counterpoint, you are going to find yourselves on the defensive;not a good place to be come election time.
