Good morning, DEMS!
I hope everybody had a good Independence Day weekend.
So, is Sorry Failin' doing anything zany today?
(No trolls allowed!)
I want to talk about what Joe Biden said this past weekend about Israel "having the right" or is "entitled to" attack Iran if it feels existentially threatened and the U.S. would not stand in Israel's way.
The Israeli papers are taking that comment as a green light from the U.S. to attack Iran!!!
Israel does not have "the right" to drag the U.S into another war of choice! Any attack by Israel will been seen as an attack by the U.S. and have no doubt, the U.S. would get sucked into any conflict between Iran and Israel, especially when Iran retaliates.
We voted in 2008 to end the warmongering! I know Joe Biden was just responding to a question and that he often has diarherra of the mouth, but I am concerned that we may have been duped and this Adminstrations policies really are no different than Bush's and the Neo-cons policies!
Am I the only one who is worried?
Good afternoon, all.
Joe Biden said Israel has a right to defend themselves not start a nuclear war. He didn't say anything about us getting involved.
What benefit do you think you get from putting your words into Biden's mouth? The American people made their choice last November. They are sick of the conflict in the Middle East.
If Iran wants to send a missile toward North America we will enyalate them. Nobody in the Middle East including Ahgeninutjob is that stupid.
It's been a war of nerves between Iran and Israel for decades now with both of them dragging their feet when it comes to negotiations. The Bushies and the neocons encouraged this sort of drama so they could keep the military industrial complex and Big Oil going at full speed and profits ahead.
Why would President Obama start a new war in the Middle East when he's still cleaning up from Bush's costly blunder in Iraq and trying to root out the influence of Al Queda in Afghanastan and Parkistan?
Only conservatives want endless war and destruction so they can profit off the fears and suffering of others. The did the same thing to our economy. The Republicans can't get enough of senseless exploitation of the weaknesses they purposely create for that purpose.
They never build anything. We do.
We're going to put what few assets with have left after the Reagan Revolution towards building up this country. Israel is on their own. I wish them luck but would rather they use their brains than weapons. It's their choice.
We have important things to do at home.
afternoon, Dems...........
funny how the Repugs are scrambling now, and behaving shrill about their beloved Palin quitting her job !! Blame the Media! blame Liberal bloggers! It couldn't be that Sarah just committed Political suicide could it?
The spinning going on is so funny, as they listen to Republican Analysts saying Palin is taking a gamble if she plans on running for President.
REMEMBER everyone, it was Palin's own campaign aides that first brought out the rumors of her behaving like an Ass! She thought she should be treated like a Queen, because of the admiration from the EXTREME Reich Wing Religious fruitcakes! Those rumors came out shortly after she was flown in . And then, all one had to do was listen to her talk about seeing Russia, her Katie Couric interview to understand that she was no where near qualified to be in a position of VP of the USA!
NOW, with little experience previously, she will have even less should she be so foolish as to run for Pres ! I can't wait to start writing letters to editors and TV reporters, reminding them all of how a Mayor of a burg, and then a Governor for 2 years thinks she has what it takes to run this country !!
Poor Obama, got to undo what Bush screwed up so badly over 8 years.
He has my support!
CD - Never said I was a "new blogger." Just have a life other than spending time on-line all the time. I only write when I have something to say and have the spare time.
SandyH - Not putting words into Biden's mouth. What I wrote is verbatim. Look it up sister! July 5th, on "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos... and I gain nothing, except an frightenting awareness that the peope we thought were the "good guys" really aren't much different than the jerks that we just threw out of office. I am sorry, but you are deluded if you think the only people who want and benefit from endless war and destruction are the conservatives. There are dirty, opportunistic hawk democrats too and it is our job to expose them and hold them accountable. I am loyal to progessive ideals, not to the party per se, or individuals. I just thought we voted for change and the only change I see thus far, is in names and faces only, not in our monetary policies, foreign policy, National security policies, i.e. FISA Amendments, spying on citizens, secrecy, etc., etc. You are right, we do have VERY important things at home to worry about, but an Israeli airstike on Iran would change that in an instant, and I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!
I just feel like nobody in Washington D.C. really gives a S**t about the people like you, CD and me and that our government is nothing but an oligarchy of the rich and connected, who are looking out only for themselves, on both sides of the politcal spectrum!

Not to mention that Sorry Failin' didn't even know what the job of VP entailed.
On a different note, why is President Obama in Moscow talking about nuke reduction with the Russians when he could have talked to them from Sorry Failin's front porch? All he had to do was wait for Pootie-Poot's giant head to come rearing up in the sky, yew betcha, also. (wink)
Hi, Pam.
Palin is finished in the Republican Party.
The big money guys saw enough with the Couric interviews. Without having somebody else to write her scripts, she sounds as dumb as she is.
All she has done since the election is say she's going to be someplace or speak for a candidate and then backs out. The GOP can't depend on her. The people of Alaska couldn't either. And the rest of the country just waits for her to fall on her face.
She'll never become a national candidate again unless she can trick enough Fundies into paying for a third-party run. I'm not sure they would even be willing to waste their money on something so foolhardy during a Depression.
I'm not sure that even Murdock would risk having her host a radio or Faux News Show much less use her for color commentary or as a conservative pundit. Without a controlled script, she's incoherent.
She should have resigned immediately after the election and gotten a anchor job where she doesn't have to think but just sticks to what is written for her. But enough with her media challenged problems.
I hope that she now realizes that she is a mother of a special needs child in fact instead of part of a script. The older he gets, the more care and loving attention he will need. Let's hope she dedicates the rest of her life to giving him the majority of her time, so he can flourish.
That would make her a real winner. The Lord apparently thought she was well suited for this role. The rest of this crap is just plain crap. Move on, Sarah, and good luck with your family's many challenges.
Afternoon Pam. I don't know if you are still here or not but hasn't it been an interesting few weeks for Republicans? First Ensign, then Sanford and now Palin.
I can not help but 'feel' that there is more to the Palin resignation than meets the eye. I am waiting for "the other shoe to drop," so to speak. The timing of the resignation is curious to me, Friday of a holiday weekend with every news outlet blanketing the Michael Jackson death coverage. Something is up with all this and I can't wait to find out what it is!
I'm sorry I don't buy into that "they're all the same" stuff. The Republicans got us into this mess and I'll never let then off the hook for it.
FDR made a big difference and President Obama can, too. He just needs more people telling him to stop wasting his time and political capital on trying to get conservatives to act responsibly. It's not in their makeup.
Hi Sandy, and Doobie! I hope you all had happy 4th July celebrations!
bbl
DPD,
Maybe if President Obama had met with the Russians in L.A. or in a car police chase, the MSM might have bothered to cover this important step towards defusing the nuclear threat?
I plan to be any place besides in front of a TV set tomorrow. I'll catch the Jackson movie later instead of this media hype. And we thought the yellow journalism of the 1920's was ridiculous?
Hi, mary.
It was kind of soggy and cool here, but we had a good weekend. I hope you and yours had a good holiday.
marymac_memphis on July 6, 2009 at 03:27 PM
mary,
I'd like to think she finally realized that she wasn't up to the job. Nah, she's not that bright.
Hi Mary. I had a great weekend. Lotsa grub, friends music and fireworks, between the showers. The weather dude said that it was the coldest July 4th in over 40 years, and we are still in some weird monsoon period with rain every day.
Sandy, so far the news out of Russia is they will let us use their airspace to fly Military Supplies into Afghanistan for aid and support. Does anyone even think that this would be happening if Chimpy was still rattling sabers while strutting around like Little Lord Fauntleroy and stinking up the joint?
British spy chief's cover blown on Facebook
Jul 6, 2009
LONDON (Reuters) -
The wife of the new head of Britain's spy agency has posted pictures of her husband, family and friends on Internet networking site Facebook, details which could compromise security, a newspaper said on Sunday.
Sir John Sawers is due to take over as head of the Secret Intelligence Service in November. The SIS, popularly known as MI6, is Britain's global intelligence-gathering organization.
In what the Mail on Sunday called an "extraordinary lapse," the new spy chief's wife, Lady Shelley Sawers, posted family pictures and exposed details of where the couple live and take their holidays and who their friends and relatives are.
The details could be viewed by any of the many millions of Facebook users around the world, but were swiftly removed once authorities were alerted by the newspaper's enquiries...

I've never understood the advantages of exposing your whole life history to computer hackers and identify theft criminals. The whole idea always sounded sort of high schoolish, imho. But then some people love sending those yearly family summaries at Christmas, too.

DPD,
I never understood why Putin allowed Spunky to live after making that crack about "looking into his eyes". Might get him yet? Bush only has an army of over 300 Secret Service protecting him for life.
Hate to run, but I have loads of stuff to catch up with since this was a long holiday weekend. I'll meet up with you later, folks.
Good afternoon, all.
My dear Texacat, Obama has been in office exactly 6 Months! What the hell do you expect from him in that little time? BUT for your information, he has accomplished a great deal, that even Republicans cannot question.
This is probably the best source for all the Bush failures he has overturned thus far, and what he has done and is doing.

It is the Republicans who have proven they care more about Corporations and the wealthy, than we the People or our rights. Keep voting for them and watch this country go into more ruin than it did.
I think you need a little more googling research , a little more watching of CSpan, a little more reading international news before you make rash statements.

They changed that law when Clinton was President. The Pugs lowered the protection to 10 years max. However they did double the salary to $400,000.00 per year. Chimpy is the first one to fall under the new protocol.
I think there is a provision wherein the sitting President can extend the protection for specific reasons like credible death threats, so, seeing as how Chimpy is the most hated person in the world he's pretty much guaranteed lifetime body guards.
Isn't it so amusing, how the Repugs are circling their wagons over Palin, and one must be jealous of her looks, if one dares to point out how inexperienced, how dumb she is! Sarah should really have gotten the RNC to spring for contacts while she was at it!
Anyways, here is a good article about her again today:
The Iquitarod!: Sarah Palin's Latest Arctic Sport
Oh My God!!! My friends in Alaska are having all the fun: Shannyn Moore and AKMuckraker, legends both, squires of free speech, calling up the spirits of Lexington and Concord on the Fourth of July, no less, and challenging the wannabe Queen of Alaska, "the deranged frostvixen quitterface" (to borrow a phrase from HuffPo's Jason Linkins), and her duplicitous court jester of an attorney, Tommy Van Flein, who apparently fancies himself barrister for the House of Hanover.
It's been a helluva Independence Day weekend in the Last Frontier. Wow! First the Governor resigns (I had her nearly incoherent speech translated into English to make sure this was confirmed), then she allows no questions, no open media coverage, provides no serious explanation (save for the most banal and insipid basketball metaphors) and expects no one to wonder why in the world she would step down from the governorship, which is the only platform from which she can claim any political legitimacy. And we're not supposed to speculate? Come now.
Leave it to Paul Begala to muster up the ghost of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson's all-mighty line: When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. If only the Doctor of Gonzo were around now to turn Palin and her circle of sycophants into mincemeat. For us mere mortals, we can only have her for lunch.
And just when you think it can't get any weirder--the trailer trash revelations of Troopergate; the McCain camp calling her a "whack job from Wasilla"; the turkeys being slaughtered in the background on Thanksgiving; her on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again, on-again attendance at GOP fund raisers--then Palin's shill of an attorney sends out the most inane, pathetic and ridiculous press release that I have ever seen in my 35 years in journalism. It's a full-fledged assault on the First Amendment. He's threatening to sue the indomitable Shannyn Moore, HuffPo, the New York Times, Washington Post, and half the internet for speculating as to the real reasons that Palin stepped down from Governor--and in the end, there were only two possible explanations: 1) that there was some sort of bombshell about to explode; or 2) that Palin did such an absolutely wretched job as Governor that she couldn't do anything but quit.

But you keep defending her, Stevie boy, she needs every single one of you Religious Fruitcakes she can get!!! As long as she is against abortion, you don't care that she just came off the farm!
But what does Karl Know!
Rove Cold On Palin's Move: "It Hurts" Her Chances in 2012
Karl Rove who successfully guided President Bush to the White House twice, was remarkably cold on Sarah Palin's decision to resign as governor of Alaska during an appearance on Fox News Sunday. The former Bush strategist and current Republican commentator argued that it was "not clear" what Palin's strategy was in resigning just two-and-a-half years into office, adding that the move was risky,m left her vulnerable to her critics, and would damage her chances of becoming president.
"I think it hurts," Rove told host Chris Wallace. "When you're a sitting governor, you have the tactical advantage if you're thinking about running for president of turning down a lot of things with an excuse that people will accept. 'I've got a job to do as governor.' She's now removed that. Now the expectations are going to be she's going to be fully available, she's going to be able to come to the lower 48, and she's going to be able to do whatever people ask her to do. And that's going to be a problem. It raises the expectations. It's also unclear what her strategy is. Again, she said she wanted to lead effective change outside of government. Well, now people will be saying what is it you mean by that and how are you demonstrating effective leadership for change around America? I'm like Governor [Mike] Huckabee. I'm a fan of Sarah Palin's, but the effective strategies in politics are ones that are so clear and obvious that people can grasp it."

CommentsEven Fox News has started to turn on Sarah Palin. In the midst of a segment about the Alaska Governor's battle against "liberal" attacks, Liz Trotta went off-message.
Frankly, "the woman is inarticulate, undereducated," Trotta said, arguing that for once liberal criticism was "well-deserved."
"I think all the liberal stylists ... really have a case. She just begs for adjectives like flaky and wacky." When pressed, she added, "We're talking about somebody who, right from the get-go, has been a flashy person who gets into a lot of trouble and really has no credentials for any

Alaska observers say Palin had gone fishin' on job
JUNEAU, Alaska — As surprised fans and critics of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin traded guesses behind her decision to resign more than a year before her term ends, the former vice presidential candidate offered few hints at her political future, except to say she'd gone fishing.
Palin has stayed out of the public eye since she made the announcement Friday, but said in a Twitter update Sunday she was looking forward to joining her family as they commercially fish in Bristol Bay. But to many Alaskans, Palin has been off the job for awhile already, acting as a disengaged presence around the state Capitol since she returned from the presidential campaign trail last year.
"She had a surprising amount of disinterest in state government after November," said state Rep. Les Gara, D-Anchorage. "This state has a lot of problems, and she showed a complete lack of interest in solving them."
In Alaska, Palin has become a polarizing figure and the focus of multiple ethics complaints filed against her with the state personnel board. She has taken a beating from Senate Democrats over many of her recent appointments, including an attorney general candidate who became the first Cabinet appointment ever rejected by the Alaska Legislature.
But with all the thorny issues enveloping her in Alaska, Palin's quitting may be more about something simpler: cutting her losses.
Things weren't likely to improve, if she stayed in office. She faces a potential veto override of nearly $29 million in federal stimulus funds for energy efficiency programs, money she had rejected in fear that it could bind the state to federal building mandates.

so you see, Repugs, it is not just Democrats nor liberal bloggers who say Palin is a weirdo!
The party as a whole agrees she just showed if she would quit Alaska, what would she do when she had REAL problems as President ?????
back later,............
I guess this makes it close to official. At 10:30 this morning a maintenance crew for the Office of the Architect of the Capitol attached a name plate to an office suite in one of the Senate Office Buildings.
It said:
Senator Al Franken
Good evening fellow Americans. Goodbye Gov. Palin (R-AK). Bwwaaaahahahahahaha...
I see one of our resident trolls has made the proclimation that Gov. Palin (R-AK) is now the new defacto head of the GOP. Fine by me. The GOP is used to having idiots run their party. After all, George W. Bush ran it for eight years as POTUS.
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Western governments on Monday of a "negative impact" on relations over what he called their meddling in Iran's post-election riots.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi on Monday made his first public appearance in a week, saying he was determined to persist in his challenge to the regime, but he stopped short of calling for more street demonstrations after a fierce crackdown on demonstrators.
"We need to make efforts to show our protest ... within the framework of the law," Mousavi said as he welcomed well-wishers at his home for a holiday commemorating Shiism's most important saint, Imam Ali.
"The legitimacy of this government is in question because of the people's lack of trust. This weakens the government from within even if it preserves it in appearance," he said, according to the Iranian news Web site Parsine.Mousavi and his supporters claim he was defrauded of victory in the June 12 presidential election, in which Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was re-elected. Massive street protests erupted calling for a new election, but were quashed in a crackdown in which Iranian authorities say 20 people were killed.
Khamenei upheld the results, and the cleric-led leadership has depicted the protests as instigated by foreign government, seeking to erase any lingering doubts about Ahmadinejad's legitimacy...

Believe me, no one wants to meddle in that nonsense the Iranians call a government. The Ayatollah can have the joint. Apparently, the Persians aren't what they used to be otherwise, a new government would've been installed already. Besides, the Iranians are going to keep screwing around and the next thing you know they're going to be seeing a whole bunch of planes with the Star of David reducing that God-forsaken hellhole to a smoldering heap.
MOSCOW (AP) - President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a preliminary agreement Monday to reduce the world's two largest nuclear stockpiles by as much as a third, down to the lowest levels of any U.S.-Russia accord, and counter what Obama called "a sense of drift" in the countries' relations."We must lead by example, and that's what we are doing here today," Obama declared in a Kremlin hall glittering in gold. "We resolve to reset U.S.-Russian relations so that we can cooperate more effectively in areas of common interest."
The document signed by the two leaders at a Moscow summit, Obama's first in Russia, is meant as a guide for negotiators as the nations work toward a replacement pact for the START arms control agreement that expires in December. The joint understanding also commits the countries to lower longer-range missiles for delivering nuclear bombs to between 500 and 1,100.
The limit for warheads would be in a range of 1,500 to 1,675 each. However, there are disagreements on what to count.
Medvedev called Monday's agreement a "reasonable compromise."
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9995GAO0&show_article=1&catnum=-1
Agreed. We only need enough nuclear weapons to destroy the planet a few times over instead of dozens of times over.
Be careful, Mr. President. Do not trust Medvedev any more than we trust Putin. When I look into their eyes, I see trouble.
Cleveland on July 6, 2009 at 04:49 PM
You're saying she’s an "icompetent, anti American fool"? I think you may be more incoherent than she is...but at least you have her pegged well.
Palin was always speaking at those Alaskan Separatist Party conventions which is pretty foolish if you want to be President of the United States. Does she want to succeed from the Union or run it?
Maybe she just wanted to quit all along?
Bob,
When are the Republicans going to have another vote on whether to keep Steele? Maybe she could run against him as chairman of the Party and make it official? Can't you see those far right, lunatic fringe teabaggers doing just that to the GOP as they go into the midterms? LOL.
What a party. I nominate Joe the Plumber.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Sarah Palin is communicating through social networking sites after her surprise announcement last week that she will resign as Alaska governor.Throughout the holiday weekend, the governor has provided frequent updates to supporters on Twitter while otherwise laying low.
She also turned to Facebook, citing a "higher calling" to unite the nation along conservative lines.
Palin spokeswoman Sharon Leighow said Monday the governor often Tweets on weekends and "this past weekend was no different."
Political analyst Larry Sabato says online networking is a perfect vehicle for "a controversial politician to communicate with her public in an unfiltered way."
Palin's attorney Thomas Van Flein says Palin has kept in touch with several people, including him.

Twitter would seem to be right up Gov. Palin's (R-AK) alley. It's probably the most simple application to use on the internet. Simple apps. for simple minds...
SandyH on July 6, 2009 at 05:55 PM
What is it about the GOP that they keep lionizing the most simple-minded people they can lay their hands on? I just don't get it. You've heard the old saying that great minds think alike. It must be the same for simple-minded people as well.
This one says it all----Palin Nuts will always love her, no matter what. You got trolls with their midnight fantasies about her. thinking maybe she will see him and fall in love?? HAHA
The MN troll thinks HE knows more than any of the Republican leaders and analysts out there! Guess what, Nutter????
Palin Resignation Changes Nothing: Nutters Will Always Love Her
The punditry over the Fourth of July weekend was intensely focused on the announcement that Republican Gov. Sarah Palin will not only not be running for reelection, but that she is resigning with a year and a half to go in her first term as Alaska's momma-bear-in-chief.
Every political analyst willing to say what they really think has called this move disastrous and confusing coming from a woman who has made it abundantly clear that she wants to be the nation's first female president.
News reports cite Palin's loss of support from conservative kingmakers across the spectrum as a result of the resignation.
More votes equals more stress for Harry Reid
Oh, the burdens of a Democratic supermajority.
After eight months in limbo, Al Franken is poised to be sworn in as the 60th Democratic senator — cause for celebration among party activists, the lefty blogosphere and his fellow Democrats planning to give him a hero’s welcome at Tuesday’s caucus lunch.
But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) isn’t feeling especially giddy — and he’s trying to bridge the gap between his herd-the-cats daily reality and rising expectations that he’s just been appointed overlord of a filibuster-proof Democratic kingdom.
“What’s really changed for us?” asked a leadership aide, hours after former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) capitulated to Franken.
“Nothing, really. Except there’s a lot more pressure.”
For his part, Reid is doing his best to tamp down expectations that Franken’s seating gives him license to trample the 40 Republicans in the upper chamber.
“We have 60 votes on paper,” he told The New York Times on Thursday. “But we cannot bulldoze anybody; it doesn’t work that way. My caucus doesn’t allow it. And we have a very diverse group of senators philosophically. I am not this morning suddenly flexing my muscles.”
Nice try. But that argument isn’t likely to assuage hungry progressives who have found their agenda stymied by left-right infighting among Senate Democrats and Reid’s old-school consensus-driven management style.
They have already begun to pressure the low-key Reid — who is loath to drop the hammer on fellow Democrats — to channel his inner LBJ...
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/24552.html
OK, Sen. Reid (D-NV), it's time to crap or get off of the pot. We've heard all of the excuses. They're not going to cut it. We have everything we need to pass anything we want to. Get it done or turn over the Senate Leadership to someone who can. No more excuses, Senator. We're watching.
and yet another!! I have yet to see one Positive one about Palin Quitting her job!!!
Among Todd Purdum's nearly 10,000-word portrait of human instability on Alaskan ice -- an instant Vanity Fair classic, aptly titled in the 1950s strain of a sci-fi B-movie, "It Came from Wasilla" -- two brief passages seemed to encompass it all:
More than once in my travels in Alaska, people brought up, without prompting, the question of Palin's extravagant self-regard. Several told me, independently of one another, that they had consulted the definition of "narcissistic personality disorder" in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-"a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy"-and thought it fit her perfectly....
She has the good fortune to have traction within a political party that is bereft of strong leadership, and whose rank and file often demands qualities other than knowledge, experience, and an understanding that facts are, as John Adams said, stubborn things.
Notwithstanding the remarkable similarities between that personality profile and George W. Bush's -- the megalomania, the empathetic void, the default-celebrity status, the anti-intellectual harmony with a befuddled base, the resistance to facts -- it would seem Sarah Palin's political career, unlike George's, will end at the post-gubernatorial stage.
That was, obviously, hardly the intent. Her bizarre, '62like Nixonian declaration of ostensible retreat last Friday was also meant as only a slightly mysterious, transitional signal from Sitzkrieg to Blitzkrieg. She had had it with her geographical remove, encroaching state scandals and mounting legal bills, but of more vividly intended import was that the world awaits her philosophical élan, via HarperCollins, to be scattered like snowflakes throughout the lower 48 -- early primary states, especially.
BobVADemocratHawk on July 6, 2009 at 06:06 PM
I'm with you, Bob. We have 51 solid votes if he's willing to go for reconciliation. And we can get a lot closer to 60 if he's willing to bend a few arms a little and call in some chits.
If not, then he doesn't want the job. Gee, where have I heard that from lately?

Bill banning forced identity-chip implants clears House
By Lauren Boyer
Inquirer Staff Writer
HARRISBURG - Invasion of privacy is an issue that really gets under State Rep. Babette Josephs' skin. That's why the Philadelphia Democrat introduced a bill, passed unanimously last week by the House, that would ban the forced implantation of computer chips in humans.
Conjuring Orwellian images, Josephs worries the identification devices - the size of a grain of rice - could lead to a real-life Big Brother nightmare.
"I'm doing, I think, what the legislature does too little of," she said. "This is a problem on the horizon, and I want to address it before it becomes a societal disgrace."
Though the technology hasn't debuted in Pennsylvania, VeriChip, a company in Florida, received federal Food and Drug Administration clearance in 2004 to market the implanted microchips, which were tested on 200 Alzheimer's patients.
Injected into the triceps, the chips have unique 16-digit codes and GPS capabilities that allow nursing homes to find wandering patients.
"I think it's really horrible that we want to chip them like barcoded packages of meat," said Kim Sultzbaugh, a research specialist who helped Josephs write the bill.
California, North Dakota, and Wisconsin have enacted laws similar to the ban Josephs is proposing...
This is a good idea for federal law and should be given due consideration. I, for one, will never be "chipped" even if it costs me my citizenship. There are certain lines never to be crossed. This is one of them.
That's like saying FDR wouldn't have packed them in anywhere he went. A landslide victory means you draw a friendly crowd everywhere...especially in places that were swing districts.
You're trying to equate Bush's invitation-only town halls (complete with "Free Speech" zones) to hundreds of thousands who just come out to be part of history.
There is no comparison. This guy is new New Deal.
Try keeping up with the rest of us. Bush failed. Palin failed. Iraq sucks. Outsourcing sucks. The TARP sucks. Trickle down must be replaced by trickle up again. Everyone knows it including Joe the Plumber.
remember how the troll promised that the bradley effect would cause mcsame to win in a landslide? the troll knows nothing...never has, never will...

Bush will always be president...the worst president. He's responsible for Iraq, 911, the TARP, Katrina, the 2nd Great Depression, the Patriot Act, and torturing human beings. He will live forever in infamy.
We no longer have any American-made American cars to buy from anybody. The Republicans offshored our industry and underemployed the middle class to the point that nobody can afford a new or used one...even if the banks were lending any money.
When it comes to a corrupt, sleazy salesmen, nobody can beat the team from the Bush White House that sold the Iraqi invasion, bank deregulation, and outsourcing.

Baldwin Looking for Chance to Run
Ah, you're both chips off the same block. There is no mystery about who you are and what you're up to when it comes to political activities. Dangerous minds with progressive leanings indeed.
If they want to find you, you'll probably be working out of a Democratic Club. Why waste the cost of a chip?
However, Sanford might be a great candidate for a chip. His wife really needs to keep track of where that wayward "love of her life" is before he get's Swine Flu. I hear that it's hitting Argentina quite hard right now since it's winter down there.
The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" The Lord replied, "If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."
- Luke 17:5-6
enjoy the evening, everyone.
Alert for Pam....
Baldwin: I have sometimes thought I could move to New Jersey or Connecticut and run. I'd love to run against Joe Lieberman. I have no use for him.
Essie,
I guess it was inevitable that there would be more political satirists associated with SNL running for office at some point...but Ohio? If Alex had been born in Ohio, it just might work. His stern parenting skills would probably resonate well with fundies.
"You selfish little pig...." LOL I guess we have all been there at one time with our kids.
Has it occurred to anyone that Palin is planning to run for the Senate seat currently held by Lisa Murkowski come next year?
That would be her dream job...get her into the Washington spotlight and give her some national experience.
And now that Palin is free from her daily duties as Governor and any criticism of her policies and any unfinished work that might go wrong, she would have plenty of time to go after a fellow Republican in a primary fight...a Senator who really backed into the job in 2004.
Here's the lowdown on Murkowski:
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK): Here is yet another 'legacy' in the Senate, and a more outrageous one than usual. Murkowski's Senate career began when her father, Sen. Frank Murkowski (R), ran for Governor of Alaska in 2002, and won. Sweetening the deal for him, Governor Frank got to appoint his own successor. He made a great pretense of searching the state high and low for the best qualified person, and lo and behold, he found her in his own household, daughter Lisa. The blatant nepotism did not sit well with Alaska voters, but in 2004, when Lisa had to run on her own, she was incredibly lucky. George W. Bush swept Alaska with 61%. Lisa defeated former Gov. Tony Knowles (D) by a mere 3% (49% to 46%). The Alaskan electorate decided to take out its anger on Governor Frank instead, and he lost in a landslide for reelection in the Republican primary, actually finishing a miserable third place with 19%. The winner of the primary and general was someone you might have heard of, Sarah Palin. Now, fresh off her trailblazing if unsuccessful campaign for vice president, Gov. Palin has to decide if she wants to run for a second term as Governor or to challenge Lisa Murkowski in a primary...

I smell a fish. Could the lovely and talented Sarah be fishing around for another easy kill? It's her signature move. No wonder Murkowski jumped at the chance to say Palin was a quitter:
Murkowski Blasts Palin: You Abandoned Our State
The Huffington Post
Nick Sabloff
07-4-09
Alaska's Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski issued a surprisingly harsh statement late on Friday, ripping Gov. Sarah Palin's decision to leave office at the end of the month. "I am deeply disappointed that the Governor has decided to abandon the State and her constituents before her term has concluded," Murkowski wrote.
Palin had announced mere months ago that she would help Murkowski raise money for her 2010 Senate race...

You have to watch those mavericky politicians closely.
I love the fact that she's supposedly busy cleaning fish out in the wilderness instead of at home with the kids. This soap opera is taking on a new twist and it's all politics as usual.
Ha.
Evening all good Dems,
The neocons were whining all day about the wall-to-wall coverage of Michael Jackson and calling him all kinds nasty names and accusing him of being a pedophile.
How about the wall-to-wall coverage of the alaskan bitch. They just love to talk about her and her dysfunctional family. They don't talk about her dysfunctional preacher. They don't talk about her "husband's" membership in that subversive group which advocates secession of alaska from the Union.
Screw them. This morning on the progressive station they were talking about phalin's lawyer complaining about the bad press and denying that the FBI was investigating phalin. He reported that the FBI said "There is no truth to the statement that we are not investigating palin".
Huh, this gibberish from a lawyer. This sounds like pure confused palinese.

Hollywood is going to do a movie with Palin as President, Conservative sponsors what a movie with a Christian Conservative in the White House. This will make Palin a Reagan Republican movie star. She if this is not her option. She could get even with some many of her tormentors.
President Obama is lucky to have fulfilled 10 % of his promises, and has accepted Bush's terms of Bush's John You White House. I am afraid like Palin, he will only last one term. He is losing too many Democrats, while recruiting Republicans.
Washington needs union busted it Tory Political Parties are bankrupting the Middle Class, and cannot afford the Earmarks price tag of their survival, having insulated themselves with their own brand of segregated Social Security. These CEO Washington Tories need a Whig Tea party.
i agree that palin should run for senator against mcsame. finally we would have a television show as funny as seinfeld was. i also think in addition to it's very scientific observations about climatology and ecology the troll should share with the poor, uniformed yutes of america it's recollections of riding down to the 7/11 to get some dip and carbonna for it's mom on a stegosaurus....
She will be out campaigning for Congress people next year and where a normal Congressman can draw maybe 200 people to an event, Sarah will draw 30 - 40,000.
this cracked me up! good thing I did not have a mouth full of coffee!
Missy Sarah was just in NY State a couple months ago------and was only able to draw 200 people to the speech she was making. AND THAT was a fund raiser, for cripes sake---those people went because of that!!!
Fantasies----Midnight fantasies !!!
Morning Gregg,
The nice weather only lasted a couple of days, and we are back to rain and thunderstorms again!
Oh yeah, it takes a powerful memory, to remember back 5-10 years, and see the difference between summers then and now!
gee, the old one in MN will turn 62 on the 19th of this month, and can FINALLY draw some SS (thanks to the Dems) OOOPS! Wait a minute. He has always had jobs that do not report income, or else cheated people out of their money , so there won't be any pot of SS money sitting there for him! Maybe his daughter and her boyfriend can take him in and care for him now in his old age! how sad !
Every day on TV, every night on here, we watch Reich Wingers pray for America's failure!! How truly sick!
Right Wing Wishes America the Worst: Are They Enemy Agents, Working on Osama's Payroll?
Yes, even to me, it seems a bit absurd to think that the right wing is on Al-Qaeda's payroll -- although the enemies of our nation are getting their money's worth without paying a cent to the great Republican media noise machine.
Much has been made of Rush Limbaugh repeatedly wishing Obama fails -- and therefore America deteriorates even further, destroyed to the ground. Isn't Osama wishing the same thing?
And then there's Glenn Beck who nightly -- with a smirk on his face and a few million in his pocket for being a demagogic lynch mob television host -- warns us that America is careening toward destruction. The other night he had a guest on who urged that only another 9/11 type terrorist attack would save our nation. Beck urged him on, with a smile and a barely concealed money-making strategic passion.
All around the right wing media echo chamber, the deceived dispossessed white working class masses -- robbed of their wallets and jobs by the Reagan economic doctrine of "I'm rich I deserve it and make me richer at the expense of the working person in America" -- are told that the U.S. under Obama is turning into a "dark" foreboding failure that must be met with resistance, some of them suggest "armed" rebellion.
A colleague of ours recently forwarded a Politico article of July 5th, in which it details how the right wing media makes money off of demonizing Obama and forecasting the destruction of the U.S.:
After eight years of trying to tell me and every other Democrat that any attitude other than getting 100% behind the US President, no matter who he may be, means you are a traitor, your frenzied antipathy toward Obama makes you all seem like the most ridiculous of hypocrites on the American political scene. You might want to think about that some.
Morning gregg and Pam,
All the whining neocons are pointing to infrastructure projects saying "see the stimulus didn't work and why should we spend our tax money on infrastructure (translated the PEOPLE)."
I wonder if President Roosevelt got the same reaction from the republicans back in the 1930's.
The neocons spew crap like "let the economy come back on it's own." And an oldie but a goodie, "Why don't these unemployed people start their own business and pull themselves up by their bootstraps."
Republicans are so damn stupid. Not everyone is capable of starting or even wants to start their own business. It is our duty to help them out. We must help them achieve whatever they are capable of doing in life.
God, these people are selfish bastards.
79gregg on July 7, 2009 at 07:40 AM
LMAO! too funny, gregg. Remember how every day was a gift to the Democrats when Sarah Palin was running for VP! It got so you couldn't make that stuff up---it was that freaken unbelievable how dumb she was! By the end of that campaign, even McCain had stopped being seen with her, and was cold as ice when they did have to be together, as he watched her slowly destroy his campaign!!
Her OWN campaign aides, came out with rumors about her, and what does THAT tell you? Bet more than one of them voted for Obama after seeing HER up close and personal. How would you like to have been one of those misguided little Republican dupes, saving and scraping up money to send to McCain, and find out that it went to high end stores for clothes and makeup for Sarah? Boy, I bet there were some pissed off Republicans out there!
Good morning Pam,gregg and fellow Democrats. I don't understand how these trolls can question global warming, are not these the same people who believe that Jonah lived inside a whale for three days and that noah fit 2 of every kind of animal on an ark!At least global warming is backed by scientific fact.
We all saw how starting up a business went with chimp. In fact, he started up a multitude of business - with daddy's money of course - and they were all failures. He even got a free education with daddy's money. He was born with a silver spoon in his ass and thinks we all grew up the same way. Talk about out of touch. The same applies to that ahole senator from kentucky. He's got his and screw the rest of us. He is the ultimate memememememememememe type. I got mine and screw everyone else including my constituents.
I attribute it to the alcoholism in chimp's case. What's mcclown's excuse?
Morning Peaceman,
palin talked about being thrifty and not spending too much money on the American people. I understand that she still hasn't returned all the clothes the rnc bought her and how about the millions she spent on that building in wasilla.
Does she think she can spend because she is privileged? What part of floating all boats doesn't she understand?
If I remember correctly, she doesn't believe in global warming and wants to pump, pump, pump oil and bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. She probably would want to steal, steal, steal mideaster oil just like chimp.
Stevie boy seems to be annoyed at all the articles I have posted of REPUBLICANS , who think Sarah Palin is a jerk, and signed her political obit ! At Alaskans who say Good Riddance to the Pansy. What Point Guard walks out of the gym in the 4th quarter, unless she is a wimp? Can't take the pressure !
Don't blame us, boys, this is your own party members who are saying this stuff !! Her own campaign staff who leaked out dirty laundry before the election ! I merely post a few of the many subscribed articles I get each day!
I wonder what's going through President Obama's mind? It was reported that he is still pushing bush's missile shield in eastern Europe and the Russians are still emphatically saying Nyet.
A few years back they were suggesting that they might go along with a missile shield in the Crimea but chimp didn't want that. He kept jabbing them about it destroying our relationship with Russia.
I don't see what's wrong with a compromise here but maybe President Obama knows more of the reasons than we do.
The Russians still mistrust us and everyone else around them. Prior to WWII Stalin "acquired" by force most of the countries buffering them from Europe and southeast Asia. Stalin was paranoid about this. I think his last attempt was Finland in 1939. They fought back and kicked Russian ass.
So you see, the Russians are still very paranoid about their security just like the chimp gang.
I think if Congress invested in God Bless Made in America that the rest of us would feel better about it. They have taken their retirement money out of Wall Street, while telling us to invest in it.
I would love to know how much each person in Congress has invested in America's future.
What political figure will profit from Madoff as he bribes for his penthouse prison cell. You think he would be sent to the supermax prison, for what he has cost investors. If he was sent to a gang bang prison, maybe Congressional swindlers would clean their Blackwater Patriot Act. I never heard of a prison lobbyist who is used to get a Presidential prison life sentence. Why his lobbyist might say he needs to be the warden.
Hi Johne,
No----Sarah Palin DOES believe in global Warming. That must piss off the Republicans no end!! She lives in an area where it is very easy to see the difference between the terrain and the Climate now, and 10-20 years ago!
noted algorelied.com.
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gasp.............
Oh yeah, now I see my error and I firmly will be a global cooling believer!!!! I mean, this strange nutcase says that since Gore's movie came out 3 years ago, why there has been a dip in the Climate! That solves everything!
The trouoble with these idiots is, they do not understand YET, the difference between CLIMATE and Weather !!! If Only they would look it up , they would sheepishly understand that climate does not stand still. But over time, it has warmed the Oceans by 2 degrees! The dying coral reefs are proof of what the heat has done. Mountain top pictures from 20 years ago, and now-----the ice is decreasing. Glaciers much smaller now than 10 years ago!
There are none so blind as those who will not see!!!!
hey Stevie boy, you might want to recheck your facts! There was no speech in the afternoon---------she was in a Parade where 20,000 showed up for the PARADE!!!!!! Dipshit!
Good morning Johne. It just shows you that the neocons STILL don't get it.If the think sarah failin is their hope then they are more lost than we thought.
good morning folks. where as bush looked into putin's soul and thought he could mind meld with him obama is about cutting some deals to decrease the threat of nuclear proliferation and to divert some of our gnp from the production of extremely expensive weapons to things that are desperately needed by our citizens such as good schools, health care and so on.....nice to have an adult in charge finally!
Stevie boy, give it up!!! you KNOW the only reason you see Sarah as a goddess, is the fact she is anti abortion!!!!! The ONLY reason. And that witch doctor holy roller did not discourage you much either!
I am getting such a charge out of the Entire nation, especially Republicans, bringing Sarah back into the spotlight. I missed the good laughs she brought with her !!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
(Go to Work, Thomass, they need you on that assembly line at TORO!)
