If hr3200 has provisions to pay back all money loaned, and will collect premiuns, why is the cost such abig deal. we bailed out every one ealse under the sun why not the people?
Guion on September 17, 2009 at 03:32 PM
I agree. If we can bail out a bunch of fat cats on Wall St. who do nothing but push useless paper around, then why can't we bail out the people who deserve it most, the people who actually do the work that keeps this country going? The answer is that it appears there are still a majority of people in the 111th Congress who believe healthcare is a privilege meant for those who can afford it as opposed to those who believe that affordable healthcare should be a right to every American citizen regardless of income or lack thereof.
Bob, a few things about your post on the previous thread. NONE of the so called 'Founding Fathers" were "rich". They had plenty of land, but Jefferson, Washington, and most of the rest all died either, as debtors, bankrupt or penniless. Jefferson even had to sell his book collection to make ends meet, and that was the beginning of the Library of Congress.
They were basically "Gentleman Farmers" who produced barely enough to keep their Plantations operating. If not for slavery they would have been literally, "land rich and dirt poor".

Hi bob,
I have said from day one of this troll's appearance, he is undoubtedly very low in Intelligence. It is one thing to be uninformed, to be a koolaid drinker, but one cannot hide the fact that one is not very smart.
Dufus should understand that when he goes off on his girlie rants.
And Stevieboy, your continued reference to my Mayflower and DAR membership show a great deal of jealousy and envy. You should really keep it down.

DPD,
Good point. I had forgotten this fact about the Founders and most of our presidents. If it wasn't for the books deals and the pension Congress started when Truman was penniless, most of them would never be wealthy.
Truman didn't even have enough money to pay his health insurance. Luckily, Johnson made sure all Americans got the same deal and created Medicare for retirees.
Why can't we all have the same health care deal as those in Congress now have?
Unless you count the Bush war profiteer-funded trust fund babies, most past presidents and legislators have considered their tenures as public service...until the Reagan years. Then the conservatives began using their positions as a ways to a means of getting rich.
DeLay even created K Street to make the revolving door more convenient as lobbyists became Congressmen and then lobbyists again when they left office.
Nice work if you can get it? Or is it just plain corruption? To think we have to even ask that question. Want to bet on whether Duke Cunningham isn't hired as a lobbyist when he leaves prison?

The swell with pride just like Beck's numbers?
Sandy, the admiration for men who whet up Racism, hatred, anger is sickening to watch.
Limbaugh, Beck, and the rest of the Hate media are experts at igniting . Truly sick sick men.
Regarding the photo, I like the body language.
The Prince is not letting down his guard holding onto his weapon. However, he is sitting open legged and looking at the President directly.
President Obama likewise is sitting crosslegged in a defensive position but he's angled toward the Prince and is gesturing openly as he, too, looks directly at the Prince.
It is a scene of mutual respect and open discussion. This is the way it must be if any progress or trust can be accomplished between two very different cultures and societies. The lines of communication have been opened.
We wasted eight long years for what? So sally* could swell with pride? He's swelling with hate and anger these days.
Not so with the two men in this photo. They mean business and are open to suggestions.

MaryMac, I have the paperwork tucked away, and I forget right now. I shall dig it out and let you know. Would be great to think we were somehow related ! James Chilton and family are the ones who came over on the Mayflower, and it kills the trolls to think their ancestors came over in the bottom of cattle boats !
It's seems odd but the only white men in the room are those who are looking down from portraits with an definite air of approval. This is indeed an historic photo in more ways than one.
The Bushies would even understand this.
Not Glenn Beck or Limbaugh. They would want these two "boys" to be arm wrestling with Palin refereeing in her high heels as Wall Street bet on who would be the biggest loser.
Caterpillar has plants in France which has Government Payed health care payed through some sort of taxes, could this be that health care here is to expensive?
I find this interesting:
Bill O’Reilly endorses the public option, which he previously called ‘socialism.’
Last night on Fox News, Bill O’Reilly actually told a Heritage Foundation scholar who was fear-mongering government-backed health care that he favors a public option:
NINA OWCHARENKO: Well, it has massive new federal regulation. So you don’t necessarily need a public option if the federal government is going to control and regulate the type of health insurance that Americans can buy.
O’REILLY: But you know, I want that, Ms. Owcharenko. I want that. I want, not for personally for me, but for working Americans, to have a option, that if they don’t like their health insurance, if it’s too expensive, they can’t afford it, if the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits, I see that as a plus for the folks.
MaryMac, O'Reilly must have taken a couple extra valium before he went on his show!!!
Fighting the Public Option is on Page 1 of the "Republican's Guide to Toppling Obama "!
They must all goose step and hold hands and denounce the PUblic Option, and fill the Public's head with fears of little illegals, of taxes,of killing off Grannie, etc !!!
Pam: I'm not a member of the Mayflower Society but I did have people on one of the boats - hence the Wood Index. I had ancestors primarily in Swansea and Pittsfield Mass. I'll need to dig out the papers and check my Mayflower Ancestors (I had more than one.). That would really be a kick to be related to you! Might explain sharing the "Basketball" love!

Of all of the reTHUGlican pundits, O'Rielly is the best educated of the bunch and I'm wondering if this means that they are finally reading the hand writing on the wall. 70% of the American People support a Public Option on Healthcare. It's that simple. He needs to expand his viewership and, if they want to have any impact on 2010, the Republicans need to expand their membership. If they keep being the party of "no" on Healthcare, they will untilmately loose any chance of being competitive. This is going to happen at some point and O'Reilly is just trying to be ahead of the curve, so he can say "I told you so..." and all that.
1DEMblue on September 17, 2009 at 05:03 PM
No, we're only killing off the Republican grandmothers. That's what the census is for as well as making people divulge their party affiliation to healthcare workers. Didn't you read your talking points from Rep. Bachmann (R-MN6)?
The only thing that amazes me more than someone posting this balderdash is the fact that millions of idiots have fallen for it. No one ever claimed, nor should they, that the GOP rank and file were known for their intellectual prowess.

Bob & Sandy, I bet that hurts a LOT. What he REALLY wants to be is the Sorry Failin of trolls.
And as with all things in his sad, pathetic existence, he once again FAILED.
Hello everyone,
I think a hateful hostile political-divide is reminding others, even President Carter, of past undertones of racism, and I can appreciate their perception and concern, but I do not think it is about racism against our President.
I think there is a difference between attacking our President and the issues, but following George Bush‘s hostile-politically-divisive lead, I think that other people can irrationally politically-attack our President in their protests without, necessarily, being a racist.
While racists are also hostile-dividing people and a few might join this type of crowd, their subconscious thoughts are of no ones interest and better off left unknown to the public anyway. Would not you agree? However, I do not think that the similarity with racism, that others appear to have picked up on, needs to go unnoticed.
While some Republican Constituents might view some in our party of being hostile to Bush in the past as an excuse to be hostile, our President has not done the things that George Bush had done. For instance, while some people are attacking our President for raising the deficit with health care during protests, it, of course, has not even happened yet and may not even happen at all.
Some of this type of protesting reminds me of when others in the world called Bush a terrorist, it is just going too far and not being thought through well enough by some others. You know, that must have been very hurtful to our nation’s Republican Constituents, especially after 9/11. I know I felt hurt when George Bush said that any one liberal was not patriotic and I would like to remind constituents of both party’s that our nation is fighting a violent-political-divide from the Middle East right now, shouldn’t we all work together to be a better example?
One thing others could do if they wanted to, including our own leaders, is to contact CNN about Glenn Beck and express your dislike. We could contact the radio station’s corporation about Rush Limbaugh and express our concerns about his rewarding the protesting crowd with the person with the gun outside a town hall meeting. Contact the Federal Communications Commission about any direct manipulation for hostile protesting against our President by FOX News; it is also ‘your’ right to protest, privately or publicly.
In the meanwhile, I think that our media needs to concentrate more on positive detailed news from both of our major political party’s leadership, don’t you?
Thank you

I have not heard what is so bad {other than public option}.
Guion on September 17, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Here's what economist Paul Krugman had to say about it:
Why the public option mattersMost arguments against the public option are based either on deliberate misrepresentation of what that option would mean, or on remarkably thorough misunderstanding of the concept, which persists to a frustrating degree: I was really surprised to see Joe Klein worrying about the creation of a system in which doctors work directly for the government, British-style, when that has nothing whatsoever to do with the public option as proposed. (Forty years of Medicare haven’t turned the US into that kind of system — why would having a public plan change that?)
But what is one to make of the practical, political argument from the likes of Ezra Klein, who argue that any public plan actually included in legislation probably wouldn’t make that much difference, and that reform is worth having even without such a plan?
There are three reasons to be suspicious of that argument.
The first is that I suspect that Ezra and others understate the extent to which even a public plan with limited bargaining power will help hold down overall costs. Private insurers do pay providers more than Medicare does — but that’s only part of the reason Medicare has lower costs. There’s also the huge overhead of the private insurers, much of which involves marketing and attempts to cherry-pick clients — and even with community rating, some of that will still go on. A public plan would probably be able to attract clients with much less of that.
Second, a public plan would probably provide the only real competition in many markets.
Third — and this is where I am getting a very bad feeling about the idea of throwing in the towel on the public option — is the politics. Remember, to make reform work we have to have an individual mandate. And everything I see says that there will be a major backlash against the idea of forcing people to buy insurance from the existing companies. That backlash was part of what got Obama the nomination! Having the public option offers a defense against that backlash.
What worries me is not so much that the backlash would stop reform from passing, as that it would store up trouble for the not-too-distant future. Imagine that reform passes, but that premiums shoot up (or even keep rising at the rates of the past decade.) Then you could all too easily have many people blaming Obama et al for forcing them into this increasingly unaffordable system. A trigger might fix this — but the funny thing about such triggers is that they almost never get pulled.
Let me add a sort of larger point: aside from the essentially circular political arguments — centrist Democrats insisting that the public option must be dropped to get the votes of centrist Democrats — the argument against the public option boils down to the fact that it’s bad because it is, horrors, a government program. And sooner or later Democrats have to take a stand against Reaganism — against the presumption that if the government does it, it’s bad.

We're still in a gubnetorial race over here, Mary where the Republican, AG McDonnell is ahead of State Sen. Deeds by five to ten points. The debates are coming up plus AG McDonnell has a lot of explaining to do over a thesis he wrote a decade, or so, ago where he postualtes that the downfall of American civilization is attributed to the fact that women are allowed to work outside of the home and have control of their reproductive systems. In other words, AG McDonnell is a typical Republican.

Called the V.A. about medication and it was the Shame Same Ole Thing. Had I been a non Veteran Cheney that would how done something, but a Vietnam theater veteran nothing. I really did need some help but like what happens here, it does not matter.

The sad thing is all my dreams are gone and I have given up on a lot of things as David surrendering to Goliath Washington that there is nothing in live worth living for in the Scarlet Letters of the pain of Terminated for Poetry. Had I not had a miracle as a child crippled that walked on seeing a Christmas Tree, I would resign totally. But instead I live in hotel rooms and friends places getting social security to pay back my credit card I used to live on since my poetic firing. I am starting to get my credit card down but a decrease in SS and a sweetheart car that needed tires and brakes keeps bringing me down. But living suicide is about survival using your self as the only tool pushing forward and the weight is adding to the gravity of the depression that wishes the V.A. could help it and the blood pressure.
That plus I am waiting for Tuscaloosa to issue a check for damage to my sweetheart that was parked in a riot or altercation, where the police put a suspect on my just repaired Crossfire. I wish someone in Washington could resolve it, for I am too distraught to fight politicians. I called the City Attorney and he said he would be back in touch, that was 2 days ago. And it is a Blue Dog Mayor they have here.
============================================
Plain and simple that all Czars, and the positions must be approved by Congress according to the Constitution. Yes, it has been abused by Republicans and Democrats but Congress and the Supreme Court must reign over any executive abuse, period.
Due to the power of Czars and their ability to skirt the law and Congressional oversight they must be brought into the umbrella of Concrete Accountability. They have budgets that they solely control so therefore they must report to Congress and have all there legal proclamations come before the courts and the Supreme Court.
Frankly anyone heading any government sub division must have a security clearance and background check. They must sign statements that their stock holdings and private dealings does not create a conflict of interest.
The fact that there are more Czars that the Cabinet shows how far this abuse has gone. Why their wages can be hidden from congressional oversight by Executive Privilege abuse.
My standard for President Obama has him falling behind Clinton toward Mr. Bush. I do not think it is Obama fault but those around him insulating him from all sides into inaction. I wish he had some of that MLK spirit in him.
As far as President Carter comment on racism, I agree, and it is a difficult position. The Health Care issue needs a rainbow face. How about President Carter, President Clinton, and President Obama along with strong politicians stand up together for Health Care.
Another idea have Mrs Obama along with other strong women do they same. In this special case I might use Mrs. Bush, the only class act in the last Administration. In front of them they can have a flood of children.

Good night fellow Americans. Keep the Faith and keep the faith. Yes we can, yes we will, and yes we did!
...The torch [was] passed again to a new generation of Americans. So with Barack Obama and for you and for me, our country will be committed to his cause. The work begins anew. The hope rises again. And the dream lives on.
About 60 million Americans can trace their ancestry back to the Mayflower. Hardly and exclusive club. I cam trace my ancestry to Leif Erickson and he was here 500 years before the Pilgrims.
Virtually every American of European descent can claim an ancestor who fought in the Revolution. The question is can you prove it. 1687 was a goodyear for me, and I can prove it.

If Pam and I are in the Wood Index and the DAR (and I assure you that I am), that's already real proof. What proof can you offer?
P.S. I did all of the work (geanology) myself. I didn't rely on the work of an ancestor.

Someone will have to explain to me why Congress could even consider a health care reform bill that doesn't include a public option when our president has expressly asked for one, and when it is supported by 70% of the people and by a large majority of doctors.
I can't help wondering, who are these people in Congress? They are supposed to be our representatives, yet they seem totally out of touch.
They say the next elections are going to be tough for Democrats, but I don't think they have to be. Just give the people what they they ask for. We are not children, begging for treats before our meals. We are begging for substantial meals, to stay alive.
Surely we are a larger voice in elections than lobbyists? And if we are not, why not? Ignore all the hoopla about whether we can afford credible health care reform. Of course we can. It's a silly question. Can we afford to eat? To breathe? To drink clean water? These are some of the things we MUST afford. Health care is another.
The people who are screaming about cost are the same ones who are wailing over the abandonment of the Missile Defense system. They don't see the irony of protecting others with missiles while their own fellow citizens go without medical care. They don't see the irony of spending monies for defence when within our own borders, people are dying preventable deaths for lack of medical care.

C'est la vie
. Hardly and exclusive club. I cam trace my ancestry to Leif Erickson and he was here 500 years before the Pilgrims.
au contraire---it is a very exclusive club, and holds a lot of prestige. Leif Erickson may have landed briefly in North America, but outside of a small settlement in New Foundland, had nothing to do with the Growth and settlement of America ! So no big deal to be from a Norweigen's descent.
Virtually every American of European descent can claim an ancestor who fought in the Revolution. The question is can you prove it. 1687 was a goodyear for me, and I can prove it.

Hi, mary.
O'Reilly is going "progressive" to counter Beck's current popularity. He realizes that he's being overshadowed and must set himself apart from the rest of the media whores if he's going to survive at Birther Central.
So he's now going for the "working man" audience as opposed to the lunatic fringe which has been his cash crop. He also realizes that major advertisers are dropping like flies from all that Birther nonsense. It's just more rank opportunism at Faux News.
Besides, none of their commentators really believe any of the crap they are saying except maybe a few of the dumb blondes. It's all "freak" show business with them. Cash in while you can.

Earlier this week, the Huffington Post’s Ryan Grim reported on the fact that in seven states plus the District of Columbia, “getting beaten up by your spouse is a pre-existing condition.” The insurance industry figures that if “you are in a marriage with someone who has beaten you in the past, you’re more likely to get beaten again than the average person and are therefore more expensive to insure,” but what it really does is punish these victims for something that wasn’t their fault.
But that isn’t the only policy that health insurers have that primarily discriminate against women. First of all, most individual health insurance markets don’t cover maternity care. In fact, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, only 14 states have a requirement for such coverage, and the number of plans without maternity coverage continues to rise dramatically. Why? Anthem Blue Cross — which has been actively fighting health car
coverage continues to rise dramatically. Why? Anthem Blue Cross — which has been actively fighting health care reform — considers pregnancy optional and therefore not necessary to insure:
“The point of insurance is to insure against catastrophic care costs. That’s what you’re trying to aggregate and pool for such things as heart attacks and cancer,” said an Anthem Blue Cross spokesman. “Having a child is a matter of choice. Dealing with an adult onset illness, such as diabetes, heart disease breast or prostate cancer, is not a matter of choice.”
Even Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) spoke an unintentional truth

AND WE HAVE THESE IDIOTS SAYING JUST GIVE AMERICANS CASH AND LET THEM BUY THEIR OWN INSURANCE !! UNINFORMED, IGNORANT, FOOLISH
This is going to happen at some point and O'Reilly is just trying to be ahead of the curve, so he can say "I told you so..." and all that.

You were way ahead of me. I should have read all the posts before commenting.
AND YES WE CAN AFFORD HEALTH CARE FOR ALL !!!
sorry about length, but it was all too good to cut off !
We Can't Afford Health Care? You Lie!
We see the spectacle of the US Congress unable to manage decent health care reform that will actually enable the American citizenry to join the rest of the industrialized world in having health care for all. The problems, it is clear, come from those who are lying.
Death panels? That's true - we already have them. Insurance companies deny care to Americans, who then die as a result. It happens every day, Sarah Palin - but ascribing that to the Obama plan is untrue. In fact, those corporate death panels would be outlawed.
Find the language in Obama's bill that says that illegal aliens are covered or admit it's a canard - God forbid we should help some migrant worker who is stricken by illness or accident while laboring in service to Americans. South Carolina's Joe Wilson is just the Tourette tip of a dissembling iceberg.
We can't afford the plan? That is a whopper. It's all choice.
If every child in America doesn't have health care, but we own more than 6,000 nuclear weapons, more than half of them on board a fleet of 18 extremely expensive Trident submarines ready to fight the Soviets (Hey! Where'd they go?), isn't it time to ask some fundamental questions? One is: Why spend $16.5 billion just on the Department of Energy nuclear weapons budget for FY 2010 with 50 million uninsured citizens? Does US Sen. Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) speak for us all when he calls health care a privilege (and presumably threatening life on Earth is a human right for the US military)?
When our working poor are so often without either the money to pay for health insurance or the high costs of health care for ailing family members, and yet we somehow manage to justify spending in excess of $915 billion on the so-called War on Terror, shouldn't we engage in some national discussion about priorities?
$1 trillion for war while unemployment pushes ten percent in more and more states is unconscionable. Unemployment means a loss of health care for a high percentage of those who lose jobs and more foreclosures on the American dream of home ownership every month. Historically, it naturally correlates with increases in crime. The US is the last of the so-called developed countries to fail to insure the unemployed and underemployed, and we have the highest crime rates. So many thousands of us are shot each year that we more than qualify to be considered at war inside our own borders. Much of that carnage relates to social problems like unemployment, lack of health care and simple hopelessness.
Does it not seem that when the US can afford and not question nearly 1,000 military bases on other people's sovereign soil - 287 of them in Germany alone - that we can afford to create jobs? Rather than have our young people learning how to hurt others in the military, we could end economic conscription, lower the crime rate, drastically reduce the numbers of uninsured, reverse the home foreclosure numbers and enhance our nation's productivity by offering minimum wage jobs to anyone willing to work. Those jobs would include housing in some cases, health care benefits in all cases and on-the-job training and supplementary education for those needing it. Closing foreign military bases until these programs were paid for would be a giant leap for the US back toward the health of our workforce, our economy, our educational system and our very citizenry.
No one is talking about this? True. So, it's time to start.

You're nuts and borderline suicidal. Admit it.
Check into ANY local mental health clinic and you will get the meds you need. (As well as room and board). Blood pressure isn't your only malady.
I'd like to see an episode of "Drop Out Jeopardy" with Flush, Hannity, and Bleeeech.
ALL the answers would be correct because they just make up their own facts all the time any way.

DPD,
I think I've seen this on SNL. They need to do a media version per your suggestion. Limbaugh, Beck, and Olbermann would make a good mix.
Thomassss, you who have proven over and over just how assanine you are here (how did those Japanese elections turn out, btw) and you like to pretend you know something about everything.
What would a 2nd generation nutcase like yourself know about American history? Or was that one of the questions on your citizenship test?
Quit trying to look intelligent-----you have proven you are a fool over and over here. And tomorrow, you will be long gone, so save your bad breath!!
You might want to do a little reading about our Declaration btw. You have these mysterious ideas of how it all went down.
"Historians have often sought to identify the sources that most influenced the words of the Declaration of Independence. By Jefferson's own admission, the Declaration contained no original ideas, but was instead a statement of sentiments widely shared by supporters of the American Revolution. As he explained in 1825:
Neither aiming at originality of principle or sentiment, nor yet copied from any particular and previous writing, it was intended to be an expression of the American mind, and to give to that expression the proper tone and spirit called for by the occasion.[73]
You might want to read up on the actual discrepancies of the Signing, too btw. There was no cloak and dagger death threats about it at all.
btw, my relatives fought in the Battle for Independence----where were your's?

Our family recently found you that we had ancestors who were at the Boston Common Massacre facing the British...and were probably drunk. I bet you can't beat that. I'm not sure anyone but me finds that pretty cool.
Doo-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo on September 17, 2009 at 06:00 PM
Maybe that is why they feel so threatened?
We've never felt threatened. Even when they cheated in 2000, we didn't feel threatened. Even when the media allowed Kerry to be Swiftboated in 2004, we didn't feel threatened.
Even when they allowed us to get quagmired down in Iraq in 2006, we didn't feel threatened. And we didn't feel threatened when they destroyed our banking and credit system in 2008 after outsourcing as many of our middle class jobs as they could for nothing but personal profit.
We’ve never felt anything but resolve...and convinced that this country can be turned around no matter how hard the Republicans try to weaken it for personal profit and foreign influences. We aren't surprised by their bravado and bluster. They've used that to push through every stupid idiotic thing they could in the last 35 years.
We're not threatened by the teabaggers, the top 2%, the Birthers, the Cantors, the Limbaughs, the Russians, the Wall Street traders, the Romneys, the naysayers, the Chinese, the Religious Right, the multinationals, the terrorists, the Old Boy’s Club in the Senate, or even the media.
This country hit rock bottom with the Republicans running things. It has nowhere to go but up. We will determine where it goes from now on and how.
Nobody trusts the GOP to do diddly squat. They are too lazy, selfish, greedy, and dysfunctional to figure out how to fix anything. The Silent Majority is going to leave them behind.
No wonder the Republicans and their petty, big- mouthed base feel so threatened.
They don't see the irony of spending monies for defence when within our own borders, people are dying preventable deaths for lack of medical care.
tylinCA on September 17, 2009 at 07:09 PM
tylin,
I believe they are actually speaking of defense contractors.
We would be a lot safer if we built more alliances instead of a lot of weapons systems that aren't needed with guerrilla warfare the norm…and most of which don't work period like Star Wars.
Let's be frank here. The Republicans coined the phrase "collateral damage". That's what they think of the American middle class. Their leadership could care less if anyone worth less than $10 million lives or dies.
No wonder the Republicans and their petty, big- mouthed base feel so threatened.
83SandyH on September 17, 2009 at 09:06 PM
Sandy,
I believe a lot of their actions are due to the fact that they feel helpless more so than threatened. The people that attended their latest little right-wing racist freakshow in Washington are their base. They would vote repelican if their nominee was satan himself. They only care about getting a repelican elected. So they watched as the idiot they elected in 2000 and 2004 wrecked this country. They watched as he lied us into an unnecessary war that killed thousands of our youth, and they supported him. They watched as his tax breaks for the top 1% mushroomed the debt and did nothing for the economy. They watched as the right-wing free market utopianists deregulation brought the banking industry to the brink of collapse. And they watched in dismay as the American people appropriately kicked their repelican leaders out of office in droves in the last election giving the Democrats a large majority in both houses of congress and overwhelmingly chose Obama for president.
Now they must watch as Obama sets us on a much more popular course. They fought the stimulus bill. It passed. They watch as each week the stock market goes up. They watch as the housing market improves. They watch as the health care debate heads toward passage of a bill without a single repelican vote for the good of the middle class. And they know this president is making progress. Things are getting better. And they can't stop it. So they scream and carry racist signs and lie about what is going on because they feel helpless. They cannot stop Obama from getting this country back on a right and just course. And they know if he makes progress, he will be re-elected. And that is the last thing they want even if it is good for this country.

The Pugs can't sell (and therefore profit from) Diplomacy.
Bombs and other war materials have a HUGE mark-up. And we are the NUMBER ONE salesman of those things. Hell, that's why we always arm both sides. It has ZERO to do with so called "parity".
The Pugs make money regardless of who "wins", whatever they are at war over, and like all bombs, the have a shelf-life of exactly ONE use before they have to be replaced. And the merry-g-round starts all over again.
Ike called it over 50 years ago, "The Military / Industrial Complex".
I think that President Obama will get done everything that he wants done. Albeit he (and us) will have to do some struggling to get it done.
HA HA HA HA HA,
Ann Coldsore is a joke. What an idiot. So the bill says illegal aleins can't be covered. But because it doesn't state that in EVERY section, they ARE covered in every other section?
What kind of idiot believes this tripe?
Oh yeah, idiots like Cleveland (aka Stupid-Sally)
According to Coldsore, almost half the babies born in hospitals along the border are born to illegal aliens. HAHAHHAHAHAHHA
Yeah. All these 9 month pregnant women are running accross the border in labor...
What an idiot.
How stupid do you have to be to believe this crap?
So this tall, boney, ugly blonde chick walks into a bar carrying a sack of shit. She grabs a seat at the bar next to an elderly man sipping on a beer.
She plops the sack onto the bar and asks it, "how much is 2 + 2"? The crap says, "Five".
She turns to the man and says, how much will you give me for this?
The man says, why would I buy this from you?
She says, "because I'm Ann Coulter, and I've been selling stupid shit like this to wrinkly-assed old white men like you for years".
Have a drink, Cleveland, and leave the crap at the bar.
Hi, Chicago.
Sorry, I didn't get back with you. I've been doing chores and watching TV.
You may be right about the Republican leadership feeling helpless. You don't see any of their familiar faces any longer on the tube. Even Newt is keeping a low profile. They seem helpless to stop the lunatic fringe in their party. They are at the mercy of these shock jocks and hate radio crack pots.
Maybe these rich conservatives are getting sick of "apologizing" to loud-mouthed, petty opportunists? Perhaps they will have to hire Blackwater to dispose of the problem?
I've been reading up a lot about Eisenhower lately. He sounded just like a us by the time he left office. He was really a progressive and got conned into running as a Republican because he was also taught as a kid that they were fiscally responsible.
Before he left office he was after the ass of every conservatives in his party. He warned that they would ruin everything if they were not held in check. He knew they were irresponsible and greedy bastards.
Eisenhower figured it out. The Silent Majority has figured it out. You'd think that the few moderates left in the Republican Party would have figured it out by now. Hell, even the Libertarians have figured it out.
good one chicago. seems ann coltface is not on the tube as much as she used to be...i miss her efforts to fix the jewish people and her hatred for the widows of 9/11...she is such a patriot!
did you read last week's post where sally came out for government intervention in the markets? it was a real turn around for her....
i agree that there is no racism involved in the attacks on Obama, such a concept is absurd on it's face....but..... can someone tell me how many guys were walking around outside any Bush speech in Phoenix carrying assault rifles?
Or why no black politicians fought to keep the stars and bars flying over the South Carolina capital building to honor the great memory of the Confederacy...
I didn't think so....
Leno made a joke tonight about Bauccus thinking he can make everyone in the U.S. buy health insurance. Like everyone in America has car insurance because its the law?
It's the same point that we have been making here since this dumb idea was floated.
Now, if everyone had Medicare, the premiums would come right out of our checks just like we're paying taxes for it already. Why not do it the easiest and most efficient way instead of cutting the insurance agencies in for a take? What are they really providing?
If the insurance industry was offering such a great product at a great rate, why can't everyone afford it? Why do they need more subsidies? Why is a rapidly increasing number of people becoming uninsured?
These are the questions the Silent Majority has been asking for over eight years now.
The MSM still isn't. They are so used to repeating Heritage Foundation copy points they are missing the most crucial point entirely:
The middle class is being shut out of the market and the insurance companies can't provide a reliable product any longer.
There is no reason to continue this fiasco. Let's offer everyone Medicare and let the cards fall where they may with the insurance industry. They got to greedy.
I'm sure they can adapt and find new markets to insure...like gun liability insurance for those idiots who are taking loaded guns into public places...to be stolen, accidentally go off, or intentionally kill someone.
Why can't Congress mandate that all those with guns buy insurance to pay damages to the victims and families of violent crime? Fine them if they don't?

Ah yes, a variation of that same old email that's been going around for the last 10 years. Sheesh.
Five Southern delegates were captured by the British, arrested as traitors and brutally tortured.
George Walton was captured after being wounded while commanding militia at the Battle of Savannah in December 1778, and Thomas Heyward, Jr., Arthur Middleton, and Edward Rutledge (three of the four Declaration of Independence signers from South Carolina) were taken prisoner at the Siege of Charleston in May in 1780. Although they endured the ill treatment typically afforded to prisoners of war during their captivity (prison conditions were quite deplorable at the time), they were not tortured, nor is there evidence that they were treated more harshly than other wartime prisoners who were not also signatories to the Declaration.
Twelve had their homes ransacked, looted, burned and other property destroyed.
It is true that a number of signers saw their homes and property occupied, ransacked, looted, and vandalized by the British (and even in some cases by the Americans). However, as we discuss in more detail below, this activity was a common (if unfortunate) part of warfare. Signers' homes were not specifically targeted for destruction - like many other Americans, their property was subject to seizure when it fell along the path of a war being waged on the North American continent.
Nine fought and died from either wounds or hardships suffered during the war.
Nine signers died during the course of the Revolutionary War, but none of them died from wounds or hardships inflicted on them by the British. (Indeed, several of the nine didn't even take part in the war.) Only one signer, Button Gwinnett of Georgia, died from wounds, and those were received not at the hands of the British, but of a fellow officer with whom he duelled in May 1777.
One returned home to find his wife had died and his 13 children vanished.
John Hart's New Jersey farm was looted in the course of the Revolutionary War, and he did have to remain in hiding for a while afterwards. However, the claim that he was "driven from his [dying] wife's bedside" as his "13 children fled for his lives" is dramatic fiction. The British overran the area of New Jersey where he resided in late November of 1776, but his wife had already died on 8 October, and most of their children were adults by then.

And this would stop conservative "patriots" from attending? I thought you guys weren't afraid of anything. You let a picnic and volleyball game by a bunch of church people keep you from conducting a serious protest? You didn't want to offend them black folks?
The entire Aryan Nation and all their militias were there and you still didn't number more than your typical rock concert crowd. I'm betting most of the Birthers were at home watching NASCAR. That's how committed your side is to The Cause.
Maybe if they had been offering chances for a free trip to Disneyland more teabaggers would have shown up? I will admit that Palin might have been a big draw, but she was busy at home... watching NASCAR, too.
We had over a million in St. Louis attend an Obama rally last fall during a college and high school football game Saturday.
You can doctor or substitute all the photos you want. Your people aren't really that motivated to get off their duffs and spend their money traveling to the Capitol when they can spend it at the casinos and bars.
Besides, deep down a lot of them would like to have reliable, affordable health care coverage available for everyone...so they won't have to continue paying for the care of the uninsured.
What is your agenda again? Tax breaks for the wealthy and tax breaks for he really wealthy. Gee, what an attractive platform during a Great Depression.

Did Joe Wilson Lie About Having Been An Immigration Lawyer?
And George Finnan, a South Carolina immigration lawyer who has worked in the field since 1993, likewise said he "doesn't know anything about" Wilson's alleged immigration work. Finnan stressed that the world of South Carolina immigration lawyers is relatively small and tight-knit, and judged it all but impossible that Wilson could have done substantial immigration work in the last 16 years.
Nor was the American Immigration Lawyers Association of any help in documenting Wilson's immigration work. A spokesman for the group told TPMmuckraker that no one named Joe Wilson from South Carolina is currently a registered member, and that no one shows up under that name in a member database that goes back "ten to fifteen years." We asked the spokesman to look up the name "Addison Wilson" -- the congressman's real first name -- and he pledged to do so, but didn't get back to us before the end of the day. We'll update if we hear back on that.[...]
Late Update: AILA spokesman George Tzamaras confirms to TPMmuckraker that, according to an extensive search of the group's membership database, no one from South Carolina by the name Joe Wilson or Addison Wilson has ever been a member.

Hi, Pam.
Good point. Not even the Birthers identify with any of the GOP leadership. They don't like them any more than Obama.
At least the teabaggers affectionately refer to the President with cute nicknames...there might be something sexual going on here? And it's almost like they still have a thing going for Al Gore, too. The grieving process obviously still hasn't set in for Teddy Kennedy...they miss him so.
Where are the cudoes for Huckabee, Mitt the Flip, McCain, Guiliani, Jindal, Pawlenty, Barbour, Scar borough, and all the rest of GOP presidential hopefuls? The trolls never post articles about their favorites...who btw are doing absolutely nothing for the country these days, can't be trusted, and who aren't sure that they even want to be held responsible for cleaning up Bush's Blunders and the remnants of Reagan's dementia.
Charlie Crist was the only one I thought had any sense but he's opposed to health care reform clearly showing the early signs of Reagan's disease. He's beginning to wander around aimlessly like McCain of late, don't you know.
Palin is the favorite of both Left and Right. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't suddenly gain some much needed perspective and common sense and declines to run.
So, where are the platitudes and complimentary articles about your superior GOP leaders? Cat got your tongue?
Gotta run. later.

KEEPING THE ENEMY CLOSER STILL PART 2
First thanks to Sandyh, Barbi, Pamb and Mariednc for my welcome.
BELOW IS ANOTHER ROUND OF REPUBLICAN PROPAGANDA YOU ALL SHOULD BE AWARE OF. IT JUST CAME TO ME YESTERDAY. AGAIN, WHAT MAKES THE REPUBLICANS SO EFFECTIVE IS THAT THEY HAVE A WELL OILED PROPAGANDA MACHINE. WHERE IS THE DEMOCRAT MACHINE? WHY AREN'T WE HEARING FROM THE DNC?
THANKS FOR READING.
Dear JB606,
The Obama Administration is using smoke and mirrors to mask the failure of the Democrats' costly $787 billion "stimulus" bill.
First, they said they would spend this money quickly to reinvigorate the economy. But only $151 billion has been spent so far and $185 billion will be spent by year's end. Another $399 billion will be spent next year (just in time for the 2010 mid-term elections) and $134 billion will be spent by the end of 2011 (as the Obama re-elect machine begins).
The Democrats latest spin attempt is a report by White House economists claiming the stimulus bill has "created or saved" more than a million jobs since it was enacted in February.
Problem is JB606, the Democrats' fuzzy math clearly doesn't jibe with the facts.
The reality for countless Americans whose jobs have not been "saved" is they've joined the ranks of the 2.4 million neighbors, friends and family members who have lost their job since Obama signed the "stimulus" into law. The national unemployment rate has jumped to 9.7% -- a 26 year high -- and is expected to reach 10% before the end of the year.
Even Obama's chief economic advisor, Larry Summers, who claims these phantom jobs have been "saved or created," said unemployment will "...by all forecasts, remain unacceptably high for years to come."
Republicans need your support today to end the Obama Democrats' spending boondoggle and jobs charade. Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $500, or $1,000 to the RNC today will help elect Republicans in 2010 who will stop Obama's wasteful stimulus spending and return the money to the American people who could use it to actually stimulate the economy.
JB606, for the average American, the best measure of the economy is whether or not they have a job so they can pay the mortgage, make the car payment and put food on the table.
And it's clear the $787 billion stimulus bill has led to wasteful spending and political paybacks, but hasn't created the jobs the Democrats promised. Every time Obama has wanted to expand the government's influence over the economy and our daily lives -- from his takeover of GM to his proposed government-run takeover of our health care -- it has meant spending more money we don't have and digging America deeper into debt.
Those are the real results of the President's experiments on our economy, and no amount of glossy prime-time speeches will convince the American people otherwise.
Republicans are committed to putting America back on the path to fiscal discipline and prosperity, but we need your help to elect GOP candidates committed to shrinking the size of government, lowering taxes and decreasing government spending.
Please make a secure online contribution of $25, $50, $100, $500, or $1,000 to the RNC today to support the election of principled, conservative Republican candidates in 2010. With your help, we can regain control of Congress and cut the President's term in half.
Sincerely,
Michael Steele
Chairman, Republican National Committee
P.S. JB606, President Obama and the liberal Democrats claimed the $787 billion "stimulus" bill would "create or save" between 3 and 4 million jobs. So far America has lost over 3 million jobs since Obama took office and the national deficit is predicted to rise $9 trillion over the next 10 years. Help support the RNC's efforts to elect more Republicans in the 2010 mid-term elections who will work to stop the Democrats wasteful spending and leftist, statist agenda by making a secure online contribution of $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or more to the RNC today. Thank you.
