Call 'Em Out

For months, special interests and their Republican allies have been smearing health insurance reform in an attempt to defeat it. We've had enough.
Last week, President Obama said: “I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it's better politics to kill this plan than improve it... If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out.”
This week, we’re launching a new campaign -- Call 'Em Out. It’s part of a larger, ongoing effort by Democrats to set the record straight on GOP lies and scare tactics about health insurance reform and other issues. When a Republican official violates the public trust by lying about reform, we'll be right there to expose the lies and hold them accountable.
First up? Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, who has repeatedly claimed that health reform will lead to death panels -- a claim so thoroughly debunked that even former Republican Congressman and conservative pundit Joe Scarborough spoke out about Pawlenty's false claims!
Visit our action center to Call T-Paw out on Twitter or Facebook, or pick up the phone and call his office. Tell him to stop lying about reform and playing politics with the nation's well-being.
The message to Tim Pawlenty and the opponents of change who would lie and misrepresent the truth should be clear: you are not going to get away with it.

You're going to turn off the very people you are trying to persuade if you don't change your "call em out" messages somewhat. Please... take one minute to read my suggestion.
The facts need to come out, and this web site is a great way to do it.
But... you have enough footage of the opponents to reform in which they hang themselves with their lies. Can I make a suggestion? Let them do that with their own words and don't mud sling.
There is no need to make references to issues that don't directly relate to health care right now (gay rights, women working, etc.). Don't focus on partisan ideas that divide people who could otherwise come together to support health care reform. It actually may turn off the very people you are trying to persuade.
Just play the tapes of the politicians and their false words, then play the real facts regarding health care reform (and nothing else). Let people make their own decisions based on the facts and don't cloud the issue.
I personally thought you went too far in portions of your pawlenty clip. And I don't even like him.
The whole second half of the video was dedicated to things that have nothing to do with health care and honestly will only appeal to liberal democrats. Any slightly conservative minded person would have shut the video off right there. Aren't you trying to drum up support from conservatives and liberals alike? Why include dividing issues that aren't even related to the issue being discussed?
I don't want my support of a health care bill to be grouped together with how I feel about gays, women in the workforce, and whether or not I'm mainstream enough. They are completely irrelevant to health care discussions. By airing that portion of the video, you are assuming everyone shares your views on those issues. They don't.
Please, please change your videos. We need health care reform and this will be a detriment to your cause if left as is.
A concerned supporter of health care reform.

the problem with these politicians is that they no longer represent the people they represent themselves and the special interest groups that are paying them large sums of money. We have no voice in the government anymore, because the politicians are talking for themselves to make money, take for example the donut hole in the prescription drug coverage for Medicare. who in the heck thought of that? that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. MOst of the people on Medicare do not have the money to pay for prescription drugs and it does not take long to reach that donut hole, my husband who is 52 years old and on disability has reached it within 2 months, it is irresponsible for the government to even have passed that bill. I work with Doctors billing insurances and I have never seen anything like that before. just shows you that Washington is not for the people they are voting for their pocket books. I for one have lost faith in our government when they bail out large companies and leave us little people out on a limb with housing prices going down and prices for everything else going up. We need some people in Washington that truly represent we the People.

This is a great idea but we should've implemented it three months ago. None the less, well done DNC.
Call em out is a good step in the right direction, but the left has been far too slow and far too subtle about making things visible and clear to the public against these intolerable lies that the right produces.
At the very least I suggest that the White House or the Democratic Party build an online forum, and with moderators organize that forum to stretch out a topic for every controversy that has merit or is given too much credit in mainstream media. Let discussions from those who do their research spread and be fully accounted for as frequently asked questions should be accounted for, and have those who may represent Obama's stand or role in these issues be able to note his views accordingly.
You don't need to be louder than the right to win this battle, you need to be more informative to the people who are being misguided by this misinformation. Point to your resources and contend their objections one at a time, but don't play politics. That's been the problem here all along.
