Grab a Mop

Posted by cloe on October 17, 2009 at 11:51 AM

To listen to some Republicans in Congress, you’d think they had nothing whatsoever to do with our current economic mess and now they have no responsibility to help the country clean it up. If you believed what folks like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell and Jon Kyl said, you’d think they’d been sounding warning bells all along about the dangerous and irresponsible policies of the previous administration.

Ummm, not so much. Those guys were right there, in the mix, supporting more tax cuts for the wealthiest one percent, as they whacked away at help for the middle class and turned a blind eye to the fat cats getting rich off the lax regulation of our financial system.

And now they offer nothing but more of the same and shouts of "NO" to any of the President's ideas to clean up the mess we're in.

The President has often spoken of our mutual responsibility to one another. And he has worked tirelessly to set right what went wrong the previous eight years. While he's rolled up his sleeves, he's called on all of us to pitch in and work together.

But the GOP has eschewed that responsibility. Instead they have rooted for failure and said NO to needed reform of financial regulation, the health insurance system and how we use and produce energy.

To them we say three simple words: Grab a Mop.

What I reject is when some folks say we should go back to the past policies when it was those very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place.

Another way of putting it is when, you know, I'm busy and Nancy busy with our mop cleaning up somebody else’s mess –- we don’t want somebody sitting back saying, you're not holding the mop the right way. Why don’t you grab a mop, why don’t you help clean up. You're not mopping fast enough. That's a socialist mop. Grab a mop –- let’s get to work.

This is great, Cloe. If only the Party of Obstruction would listen----but alas, the only way they see themselves taking back power in 2010 and 2012, is to pray that America fails !

They ar not above praying for another attack on this country, if it will move their party forward. Because they have NOTHING, NADA, ZERO in the way of Positive good ways to help America, so they will continue to keep it down.

Even though The President has given Republican leaders a public stage to state their complaints, concerns and their fix ideas where the President and our Party would then be publicly held Democratically accountable for, at least, listening to , Republican leaders, they still refuse to talk respectfully or Democratically with our party’s leaders. (Saying the Republican leaders lead the party of ‘no’ is too kind, they are the party of ‘toddler-hostile-no (for no good reason’).

It is juvenile for some sensationalizing-hostile-loving Republican constituents to call our party bad names and think that alone can win a political argument while not offering anything else their leaders taught them to the conversation. However, it is inexcusable for Republican leaders to lead this name-calling, and accusation from nowhere agenda, while Barack Obama has respectfully invited Republican leaders to publicly work with us to fix our nation’s crisis.

(Our current President is smart enough to know that right now, our nation needs a permanent fix where Republican’s do not haggle politically with our fix later, which can slow or hinder our nation’s recovery. So our President sincerely wants to work with Republican leaders.)

The Republican leader’s might as well just publicly lead their constituents to call the Democratic Party ‘socialist’ their selves instead of allowing people like Rush Limbaugh to do it for them. They and Limbaugh both might as well say that the label ‘socialist’ alone will work to win 'any' political dispute because they know that the bad name ‘socialist’ has something to do with old Russia and Sarah Palin can see Russia from her house.

Forget about the mop. Give the GOP a bucket to cry into.

Boss Limbaugh says it’s not fair. They are being treated badly by inferiors and the Silent Majority won't give them a second chance...to screw up all over again.

"Forgive us our sins. But please don't ask us to change our ways." I've never seen so many grown men and women trying to evade being held accountable for their irresponsible Republican actions.

From Karl Rove to that quitter Palin, they are twittering around the situation the middle class is stuck with instead of helping to fix what they broke. They are like a chorus of Cassandras prophesizing gloom and doom when that's what they gave us.

The conservatives just can't admit that their ideology and policies screwed up everything. Nor can they face knowing that they got caught doing it "on purpose" for their own selfish, greedy motives.

So they quote Nazis, hope the nation will fail even more, act like toddlers stomping and shouting when nobody will pay attention to them, and pray for The Rapture as an easy way out of what they brought upon themselves.

Their litter and vomit is still all over the floor and they continue to step around it like it isn't there.

Pick up a mop? They don't do manual labor or public health initiatives. They expect others to deal with their mistakes...and put as many diversions and obstructions in the way as they can.

The choice has never been clearer. They do negative. We do positive. Democrats believe that we can be strong again and are willing to work to make it happen. The Republicans want us to fail and refuse to even try.

I took an Oldie Song, "At the Hop" and put to a current theme ......

"At the Mop"
Ah, let's go to the mop
Let's go to the mop, (oh baby)
Let's go to the mop, (oh baby)
Let's go to the mop
Come on, let's go to the mop

Well, you can swing it you can groove it
You can really start to move it at the mop
Where the jockey is the smoothest
And the music is the coolest at the mop
All the cats and chicks can get their kicks at the mop
Let's go!

Let's go to the mop
Let's go to the mop, (oh baby)
Let's go to the mop, (oh baby)
Let's go to the mop
Come on, let's go to the mop
Let's go!

Well, you can rock it you can roll it
You can stop and you can stroll it at the mop
When the record starts spinnin'
You *chalypso* when you chicken at the mop
Do the dance sensation that is sweepin' the nation at the mop

Still denying that you are a Republican?

You can try to pawn yourself off as patriotic but your actions say otherwise. You continue to say you want the country and its leader to fail. It doesn't make sense.

You can't keep running away from your failures and hope others will perform worse than you did.
Why can't you help us fix what you broke? That would be patriotic.

Why are you still in denial? Why are you so nasty and negative? You come across like a sore loser without a clue as to what can be done now to make things better.

You're really acting unsure of yourself. Voters won't follow those that are always boasting and then can't deliver...can't even come up with new policies after they proved their old ones didn't work.

If you aren't going to be part of the solution, then you aren't going to be part of anything in the future.

That's O.K. with me. I'd rather compete with a new political party that stands for something besides obstruction and negativism...and the same old failed ideas that were proven wrong by the very people who advocated them. We've beat you twice on that strategy and that was before the bank failures and TARP.

Continue to say you want America to fail. It's a great slogan for the middle of a great depression.

Whether you like it or not, the Silent Majority overwhelmingly likes President Obama and respects the task he has taken on without ANY help from the "patriotic" Right. He may not be FDR yet, but he's fast becoming a historic favorite...if not a religious metaphor for what this nation needs in tough times.

Thanks for your continued assistance. Every time you Birthers speak, you confirm the judgment of the middle class and reinforce their determination to turn away from the GOP as you are a negative, destructive force in our society.

Socialism hadn't even been invented or tried at the time of the American Revolution. The Founders were against economic monopolies like the Dutch or British East India Company and taxation without representation...not taxation.

Go ahead and hide behind the Founders' documents and quotations which have nothing to do with our current state of economy. It still doesn't excuse you Republicans from willingly outsourcing our assets and jobs to other countries or allowing foreign multinationals to determine our fate.

You sold out America and you didn't even do that right.

Washington warned that we must distance ourselves from all foreign entanglements. Conservatives were so stupid that they actually had to turn to foreigners to tell them what to do. That's being the worst sort incompetent and a traitor, too.

You Republicans really can't do anything well except perhaps deception, diversion, and division. And even then you get caught lying so often your countrymen have become disgusted with your constant negativism and fraud.

You have no credibility no matter who or what you quote. And you obviously don't understand history or the basic concepts involved in a free market system.

I'd feel sorry for your lack of education if I didn't know you probably fought your teachers and parents every step of the way. You graduated to being a Birther. Congratulations.

This patriotic clap trap you trot out all the time doesn't defend your arguments. It just makes you look as stupid as your incompetent Republican leadership.

I have a question, "PAMB when was the last time you worked a min. 40 hour a week job?"

Eric Pearson

And I have an answer: "I was able to retire 6 years ago, at age 59, because of my working 50-60 hours a week, raising myself in my position so that I had a nice Retirement nest egg"

Now I answered you on another thread, but will address you again----The Democratic Party does not need reform! the Platform it is built on is one that has provided you and your family with many of the benefits you have become accustomed to. Benefits fought against by Republicans and Libertarians all out for themselves. Here's a little thought for the day for you, Eric

Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican

Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.

He turns on a radio talk show, the host’s keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have”.

You can also thank Democrats for:

Minimum Wage laws
ADA
ADEA
Workers Comp
Unemployment Insurance
Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
FDIC
Space Program
Peace Corp
Child Labor Laws
Overtime pay
FDA
GI Bill
etc, etc.

Kiss a Democrat today----tell them Thanks !

In the past, I was very grateful for the opportunity to ask questions from my fellow Democrats, and to express my views on this Blog

ahahahahahahahahahaa.......you think anyone here has such short memories, as to your intent to try and First--promote your foolish run against Jim Cooper, and two---to try and promote some foolish new party, called Democratic Reform, when it has been proven you are a REPUBLICAN? You came to harass , nothing more.

NOW, you are Threatening Stalking???? Stalking a blog where you are not wanted by the community nor the sponsor of???

DO YOU HAVE NO SELF PRIDE? DO YOU HAVE NO ESTEEM?

You have been removed----yes, Removed, because you became more aggressive in your true goal of trying to paint the Democratic Party as something bad.

I mentioned before, if you do not like Socialism, then I want to hear you have called Medicare and told them you reject your's. You have also rejected Social Security payments, and if you are eligible , Veterans Benefits.(althought I doubt that, because most men who have been in the military have a certain code of honor)

It is clear to me, this could of only happened because I expressed my views in questioning some of the leadership within our Democratic Party, and/or sometimes I place links to an outside website I’m personally affiliated with.

NO, ERIC. This could have happened because it is recognized that you are a Mentally ill nutcase.

TRY AND ABSORB AND GET THIS------

the members of this blog, do not wish to reform anything !

You are just too uncreative and unintelligent to not understand, that any party you should be running on as a 3rd party, should be an totally Independent party from either party, seeing as you do not fit in with either of them. So quit using our name for your very weak attempt to run for office ! And quit using our Blog, which I would guess you never sent a thin dime to keep maintained!

You send in a nice big fat contribution to the DNC, and then you can complain about being flushed.

You have proven once again----that all Republicans are merely very small men. No Real man would be in here THREATENING to keep coming where he clearly is not wanted.

It is like barging into someone's home, and refusing to leave when told to.

what a sick man you really are.
